Ginestra (Broom)

Have you ever imagined a perfect scent in your head? Vintage SMN Ginestra is this is dream of mine come to life. This is how I'd imagined oakmoss to smell a long long time ago, before I'd actually smelled it. It is a green, mossy, tart, and magical potion. Although it is not gourmand, I love it to the point of wanting to drink it. It is difficult to describe as I am not intimately familiar with broom. However, I am very very familiar with moss, and to me this is moss perfected and refined to level that simply does not exist in anything else I have tried. If I had to draw a comparison, I guess I'd choose Le Labo Mousse De Chen. I love that fragrance, but this is on another level. It opens slightly medicinal before diving into a tart, green, slightly sweetened moss that feels and smells as if it was filtered and refined hundreds of times to remove any trace of impurities. Performance is meh but I don't care. The scent is perfect and rivals another moss favorite of mine, Mousse Illuminee. These two fragrances, although very different in their execution, are the endgame moss scents for me personally. There is no need for me to look any further as they are exactly what I want in 2 different styles. -------------------------------------------- Scent 101/100 Performance 30/100

Wearing SMN Ginestra on a blazing hot day like today is like a cooling salve of crisp cool, salty air, peppery herbs by the ocean and refereshing iced tea. It is the breeze that is needed, sort of a fragrant repose, a way to temper all the delirious haziness. It opens with a certain vegetal, summer foliage quality that is quintessentially SMN, which soon reveals more floral elements: the scent of sun-drenched spanish broom, supple yellow florals and summer wildflowers. It reminds me of the wandering the sand dunes of Cape Cod National Seashore, Provincetown. The dry down is like walking through shadier woods adjacent to the dunes, the aroma of warmed up mosses and ferns, the languorous release resins and sap, as evening approaches, but you make sure to take cover before the deer flies attempt to ravage you. What's left are traces of the day, a sleepy head, and hopefully some decent air conditioning.

This cologne might be as simplistic as a cologne could ever be. It smells like soap or shampoo. It starts out zesty and vegetal, like celery leaves, giving the illusion of citrus, yet there is truly no citrus to be found. It also seems spicy and made me wonder for a moment if it contained hyacinth. It's a very green perfume, like a bar of Irish Spring soap, but it becomes sweeter and a little more floral as it wears. Totally unisex, seemingly appropriate for any occasion. I prefer to use it casually, yet I could imagine wearing it to a spring wedding. Maybe even my own spring wedding if I were to have one. It's beautiful enough. Reminds me of spring flowers after a rain shower.

The broom that is used for sweeping derived its name from the thorny Genista, also known as the broom plant. A fun fact and great conversation starter. Definitely unisex. Peppery, sweet, slightly flora, soapy/aldehydic with a tea-like calming quality. Wear it to calm down stressful situations and ground oneself.

The smell of coming home after long wanderings; everything is just as it should be and you are so happy you could cry. Perfect balance of (spring) flowers, green and woody notes and resins. Very authentic Mediterranean fragrance. Simple, but majestic.

I like Ginestra because it ́s a light floral-fresh fragrance that smells like a spring path in the Mediterranean coast.

Gaggia is listed here for women. To me it's totally unisex. I prefer to smell it on a man rather than on a woman.

Quando que eu imaginaria conhecer uma flor de Giestra (Flor-de-Tintureiro), se não fosse através de um Santa Maria Novella aqui em minhas mãos?! Às vezes também me questiono se esse mundo de nicho é para mim, porque convenhamos quase que tudo neste mundão fino é de arrebatar os sentidos sem chances de uma volta próxima ao consciente, à razão. Ginestra (Broom) sempre divide opiniões por onde quer que a gente passe pesquisando sobre ele, uma parte das pessoas gosta e a outra parte, o tolera pelo fato de ser um perfume de valor agregado não correspondente à proposta que transmite em sua evolução. Para mim, Ginestra (Broom) é o que tem que ser, afinal é uma colônia que fixa e projeta em torno de 8 hs transmitindo sensação de equilíbrio, autoconfiança e bem estar, para uma colônia ela já vai bem adiante nestes quesitos mencionados aí acima, são diferenciais nada comuns nas colônias que encontramos nas prateleiras de mundo a fora. Sua saída é floral, com a tal da Giestra, que de fato cheira a tinta fresca no tintureiro aberto e mais pétalas de Violetas frescas adicionadas que vão se apurando e construindo um Coração também floral com toques adocicados de flores de Narciso e buquê de Flor de Laranjeira, no final de um casamento ao entardecer. Sabe aquele cheiro floral pós-festa de casamento que paira no ar?! Pois é, excede a ele, milhões de vezes superior! Por fim, sua Base é rústica com Musgo de Carvalho e toques de Resina bruta misturados a todas as notas anteriores, talvez isso tenha me conquistado nesta tão maviosa fragrância, esse baile de notas que vão do início ao fim sem perderem suas características ao bailarem, tornando do baile um marco a quem se submete a bailá-lo. Encerro por aqui, se não rasgarei a seda até não ter mais espaço para escrever, ainda mais que sou um amante assumido da Pharmacia Santa Maria Novella. [risos]... This sweet, citrus, and peppery scent is intoxicating. It’s is a bit narrowly sweet and sharp in its topnotes, and the scent seemed to go a bit yucky-chemical mid way thru the wearing, but that effect waned. It’s been 6 hours since I first tried it on and I am still enjoying it, and so I will keep what I purchased. I love the woodsy undertones which should be stronger in the blend. Strong - a little will go a long way. I must admit I plan to mix it with one of my softer "green tea" scents to tone it down.

it smells like taking a walk on a trail in the moss covered woods near the ocean, taking in the crisp air, coastal shrubs, hazy cool breezes, & then coming across a small patch of soapy spicy violets that tickle your nose before blending back into the serene natural scenery
