Flaming Red

This fragrance is definitely very niche, but I absolutely love it. I completely understand why it has a 3.49 rating—it’s undeniably challenging and very different. To me, it's a hyper-realistic rose. I genuinely admire the technical artistry behind it and how they managed to recreate an aroma that makes me feel as if I have fresh roses right in front of me. I do smell the passion fruit, and I think it gives the rose a fresher, brighter character. That's interesting because I've seen many reviews describing the rose as dark or decaying, but I don't get that impression at all. To be honest, I don't really detect the oud, although I'm not an expert in perfumery. I especially love wearing this fragrance to formal daytime events in the spring. For some reason, it feels even more perfect when I'm wearing a flowing shirt in vibrant or pastel spring colors. I can easily picture it at a daytime wedding or an elegant-casual outdoor brunch. Those are the occasions when I find myself reaching for this fragrance.

Flaming Red by Santi Burgas WOW, my first try from Santi Burgas and I must say I'm impressed already! The fragrance is gorgeous, rose, orris, fruit, vanilla, amber and a very slight, smooth and tolerable level of Laotian oud which is something I usually have difficulty with. Maybe this will be the kickstarter that will allow me to appreciate it in other fragrances. Everything is blended together beautifully and the fragrance is massively potent. A little dab will do you. Excellent quality, like stuff I've tried at 2-3 times the price. $170 for 100ml of what seems like near extrait seems like a real bargain. I have only tried one sample from my discovery set but I'm already impressed and intrigued and can't wait to try more! Very enthusiastic thumbs up! As another user pointed out, Flaming Red could be one of the most depressing floral scents. But for fans of rose-centric fragrances with a twist, it might actually be one of the most enjoyable iterations of the genre. But be warned, this is not a gentle, velvety, classy rose - it's a rose on the brink of death, decaying and fading away while its petals burn rising in the air. Flaming Red opens with an intense dosage of passion fruit, offering a sweet, tangy, tropical fruitiness that's bright, acidic, and easily recognizable. A gentle powdery orris can also be sensed hiding behind the tropical explosion, but it's hard to spot given that the main character enters the stage - rose. Bulgarian rose, to be more specific, which exudes a rich and aromatic waxy rose aroma, a little spicy, that pairs masterfully with the passion fruit. This combo, as intense as it may be, actually steers away from "bright" and "lively" as one would expect, given that most other fragrances featuring passion fruit nowadays are usually playful and juvenile. Flaming Red isn't. It goes straight into a grittier, more gloomy direction, evoking a very deep, dark red in my mind. Hence the depression and decay associations. Now, supposedly, this is a rose-oud composition first and foremost. But in terms of oud, I don't get much. It's there, you can tell it is, adding some clear earthy support with hints of smoke and wood, maybe a musty edge as well, but overall, Laotian oud is not the harshest or the most challenging type of oud. Frankly, it's one of the most approachable types. So it is actually good news for people who don't tolerate oud, because the gentle earthy facets it appends here are very soft and manageable. Some ambery warmth joins the background scene to support the rose and passion fruit in the foreground, while further in the drydown, once the intensity has mellowed down, some vanilla aroma manages to push through. It's not a complex scent by any means; just a focused one. Focused on delivering a beautiful, smooth rose fragrance and keeping your attention largely on the rose, while all the other notes work together to make Flaming Red memorable. Performance was very satisfying on my skin. It lasted around 10 hours, which was about the expected result given the potency it hits you with from the opening. Projection was also quite great but never overwhelming. It was just enough and it never felt it was lacking pushing power. It was adequate, with a fairly strong first hour that would settle to a pretty constant moderate projection for 3 more hours, and even 5 hours in you could still get some whiffs of it if you got close enough. I was actually a little worried it might end up too strong, but it delivered just right. Most people still believe that a rose-forward scent is more feminine than anything. But that's not true, especially with Flaming Red. This is perfectly unisex, and it ticks a variety of wearability contexts, apart from daily wear. This isn't a fragrance you'd wear on a gentle stroll across the park, or during the chaotic last minute grocery shopping for Christmas Eve. No, this is to be worn for special occasions, outside of the high heat. Is it my favorite rose fragrance? Debatable, Amouage's Rose Incense would have a big say in that. Is it the most depressing rose/floral scent? Possible, but it certainly doesn't make me cry when wearing it. Is it the most unique rose fragrance? For me, so far, yes. It stands out, like a decaying rose in a bouquet full of perfectly bloomed roses, or, on the positive side of the spectrum, like a perfectly bloomed rose in a bouquet full of decaying roses. And I feel that the latter is the better description, because in a world where rose fragrances have become stagnant and repetitive, Flaming Red sits as an example that a rose fragrance doesn't have to be overly feminine. It doesn't have to be bright and lively, or very classy and sophisticated. It can also be depressing and gloomy, dark and somber, and still be a joy to wear. Maybe I would've personally enjoyed a stronger oud presence or some more earthiness, but as a whole, Flaming Red is a beautiful fragrance that is well-worth checking. نقد و بررسی عطر Flaming Red Santi Burgas Flaming Red Santi Burgas Flaming Red پرداختی به عود و رز از زاویه ای سرکش و سنگینه که هیچ چیزی جلودارش نیست. استفاده از نتهای عود، رز و کهربا؛ در حجمی بالا و باکیفیت یه عطر اورینتال فاخر بوجود آورده که خاص و ویژه عمل میکنه و مسیر خودش رو از عود گلاب آگین متقلب و خفه کننده ی برندای نوپای بی هویت جدا میکنه. Flaming Red در هیبت حیوانی و چرکین عظیم و وحشی، خودش رو معرفی میکنه. عود، مشک و نتهای اسپایسی با حالتی چرکین و خشک فضای غالب کار رو در دست دارن و خیلی زود تم الکلی-دارویی قدرتمندی بهشون اضافه میشه تا با حضور بوی شیرین، خامه ای و گرم رز در کنار حس چرب کره ای جاری در فضا؛ رایحه ی خاصی از عود حیوانی و رز پودری و کمی سبز، در بستری الکلی-دارویی به مشام برسه. با حفظ همین فضای انیمالیک، دارویی، فلورال و سبز؛ بعد از ساعتی حس کاراملی و شیرینی کنترل شده ای از وانیل و کهربا به حاشیه ی کار اضافه میشن تا فضای غلیظ و گرفته، کمی شفاف و روشن بشه. با همین فضای سنگین و پر مهابت؛ ترکیب Flaming Red کامل میشه و در نهایت، عطر وارد بیس چوبی، صمغی-دودی و کهربایی میشه که همچنان از لطافت پودری رز بهره می بره. حس چرب کره ای و تم الکلی-دودی ضعیف، در نهایت محو میشن و اگرچه حالت چرکین و انیمالیک همچنان حضور داره اما کاملا تحت تأثیر وجه چوبی-صمغی قرار می گیره. این همه پیچیدگی تاجی از رز، کهربا و عود بر سر دارن تا با بالانسی فوق العاده؛Flaming Red در نهایت درخشش و غنا عمل کنه. عطر اورینتال عظیم و پر ابهت از از رز، عود و کهربا که از فضای انیمالیک دارویی و الکلی آغاز به زیبایی به پایانی چوبی-دودی با حاشیه ای پودری ختم میشه. I hate to start a review by using the wood "poopy" but this definitely has a strong musky somewhat fecal opening. Its not off-putting as some others (i.e. many from the Zoologist line) and it is similar to the opening of More Than Words by Xerjoff. Maybe its the Laotian oud as another reviewer on here pointed out that makes this so sour,. Or maybe its the passionfruit but I wouldn't call this fruity at all. In contrast to the muskiness, it's quite shocking at the initial spray. Once it settles then the rose comes out, and its dirty and not sweet. It becomes an oud rose that is somewhat familiar (i.e. David Yurman Extract and a maybe Prada Miracle of the Rose). This one has a distinct personality as it has some bite. Might turn powdery on some, but on me it turns woody. Overall a nice experience, an rose oud fan wont be disappointed, its very good quality.
