Atlante

Well this was love at first sight/sniff. Seaweed or brine is one of a few notes I have a hard time tolerating which is really saying something when you look at my collection, rather eclectic and tolerant toward some left field scents. So, bar Bulgari Aqua which I like and Nishane Ege (which I love, love,love) there isn’t much room for Marine scents which are salty/briny. I like quite a few like Profumum Aqua Di Sale, Heeley Sel Marine or a few from BDK and Nobile 1942 for example but I find they lack in some areas of performance, value or whilst I respect them I just don’t see myself wearing them comfortably. So, here it’s perfect. It’s the one if I want a seaweed/briny scent that reminds me of the ocean. Ege is a parallel however that is more representative of countryside by the ocean as is Nobile 1942 Acqua Nobile (and that has arguably performance/price to consider). Atlante just kills it! It’s a super sweet but super fresh ocean spray with salt and seaweed that lasts all day - finely balancing the ability to transport you to the Volcanic rocks on a beach near Maui whilst the waves crash covering you in sea spray yet giving a pleasant perfume that won’t leave people in the office thinking you’ve spent the night sleeping at the beach. Amazing!!!! The Lily of the Valley whilst voted as low as being prominent is there providing a supporting sweetness that lasts all day, the Yuzu providing a brightness at first and supporting the airiness and freshness on the long drydown with being a particular dominant note as Yuzu and the mineral accord helping with the salt. Awesome - if you want the longest lasting best and most comfortable Ocean scent Sarah Baker nails it (Greek Keys is also a worthy contender). Also one of very few perfumes of this calibre that works well in Summer or Winter. It’s nice to see for once the votes for aspects of the perfume are spot on too...

I have long gone past the idea of having only one "signature fragrance". In olfactory terms, I'm simply too promiscuous. But if someone were to try to force me back into that box, this would be one of mine, for spring and summer at least. Before speaking of any of the notes - and I'm not big on grappling with the minutiae- the most important thing that I have to say about this fragrance is that it is a veritable mood enhancer. It has that rare quality of being like spraying on "feel good". I get a hit when it goes on and, throughout the day, I get little "booty bumps" that perk me up as I smell it on me or the general sillage effects. In terms of notes, this makes complete sense to me. I grew up around and on the sea, so all those salty, aquatic notes are like coming home, not in a half-baked way that many others claiming to be "nautical" do, but in the way that I genuinely remember as the smell of oceans around the world. Yes, I was a maritime baby who grew up on ships, but that's pretty secondary other than enforcing that this smells like the real deal. Secondly, there is something aesthetically Japanese in this gorgeous scent (maybe the seaweed, maybe the yuzu etc.) that also locks in to my personal scent memories. And thirdly, there's that magic bit; why I have fallen in love with this house and why, indeed, I gravitate to the creations of this nose. All of that aside, if you like a directional oceanic scent with the precision of Japanese olfactory (and, indeed, gourmand ingredients), you cannot falter with this gorgeous scent.

This fragrance is complex and mineral, and I’m totally obsessed! The first mineral layer kind of reminds me of Ganymede, but it has a sharper scent. I think that's because they added a note that gives off vibes of sea shells and their tiny inhabitants, plus a hint of bitter yuzu. After about twenty minutes, a strong saltiness starts to emerge; the scent becomes really salty, iodine-like, with a touch of salted wood. The second layer gives off a bit of a Megamare vibe from Orto Parisi. But this fragrance doesn’t try to copy its predecessors; it’s super unique. I’m making these comparisons just to give you a rough idea of how it smells. Honestly, describing this scent is pretty tough. The longevity and sillage are amazing—Ganymede and Megamare would be jealous, I’m serious! At the very least, it holds its own. I’m in love with this perfume. In the heat, you get more of that sterile, mineral vibe, while in cooler weather, it leans more towards the marine and woody-salty notes. Closer to the base, or about an hour after applying, there’s this lovely, cute sea creature vibe that comes through. 🌊🐋🪸🐚💙 I wouldn’t recommend buying this fragrance without trying it first!

I've tried so many marine fragrances over the years; searching for the perfect one. This might be the white whale/holy grail I've been looking for. The wet rock seashell vibe is very realistic! Foaming ocean crashing off the rocks on the coast. Smells like I am standing on a jetty watching the white caps in the distance, as the seagulls fly above. There's a little salt and a little seaweed but it doesn't go overboard and is still wearable if you're into niche artistic fragrances. Personally, I wish it was just a tad more salty and had more seaweed absolute, although I understand why the perfumer chose not to make it this way, because it might not be wearable for most people. My other minor gripe is the orris seems a bit out of place in the opening.The yuzu although not present immediately, seems to be more noticeable as time goes on. There's also a nice driftwood note which I love. Performance is very good. I wear this in the Texas heat and it lasts. Oil concentration leaves a nice visible sheen on my skin. Overall this is beautiful interpretation of the coast, and one of, and possibly the best marine scent that I have tried. Scent 9.5/10 Performance 8.5/10

This surprised me in the best possible way. The scent is one of the best I've ever smelled. Perfect amount of sweetness, the Yuzu is the perfect fruit for this style of fragrance. It has a powdery iris/orris that perfectly balance with the seaweed/seagrass and metallic notes. It's refreshing, bright, and light. Towards the drydown, the cedar makes a big entrance, becoming a great base for the wonderful yuzu, iris, and marine accords. Not even the warmest days can make this clawing, and yet, on a cool spring day, this works just as well as for summer. Where: casual to Semi-formal. It's not a super special scent. But it is Lovely, and it's kind of has an elegance to it. The way it's alluring and refreshing at the same time. Work friendly without hesitation. When: summer, primarily. But fully wearable in spring. Daytime wear for sure. Who: Anyone. Any gender, any age. This will fit anyone who likes it, and who's skin chemistry is a match for it. Personal score: It earns my 4th ever 10/10. This will Absolutely be in my summer rotation for years and years to come. I freaking love it. My strongest recommendation to sample this.

If you needed a scent to inspire your mermaid transformation, this would be the one. Begins with a very divisive hit of marine, but then settles into a beautiful turquoise glittering sea on an island in the Mediterranean. Every time I smell this, I imagine I'm emerging from the sea, with long beachy waves entwined with seaweed and then I look down to see a seashell bra and a mermaid tail form. I've had friends compliment the perfume when sitting next to them at dinner, so it translates well into reality too. I find it pairs well with Charade, another scent from Sarah Baker's main collection, as the saltiness of Atlante compliments the mellow honey tones in Charade. Reminding me of the classic greek yogurt and natural honey breakfast one might have on a boat while sailing around the Greek islands. Be ready to smell this and need to book your next summer holiday.

“I’d like to be Under the sea In an octopus's garden In the shade...” Atlante is a saltwater, aquatic garden fit for the gods. There is a multifaceted depth and complexity here. In this underwater garden, fruit grows alongside sea vegetables and underwater greenery. And I get a hint of something sweet and resinous. Absolutely delightful! Most aquatic fragrances are relegated to summer months but this one can be worn year round. Atlante is suitable for just about every situation. Perfectly unisex. Sillage is just the way I like it - about 6 feet. Two small sprays from a sample vial lasted more than 48 hours on clothing. So far all the fragrances I’ve sampled in the Sarah Baker line have super longevity - - something most designer fragrances lack. If longevity, versatility and a unique scent are what you seek in an aquatic fragrance, you’ve found your match.

It seems I have eventually found the fragrance that finally, conclusively, scratches my 'by the seaside' itch. The distinct tang of iodine laden seaweed, it's metallic saltiness, runs all the way through the life of the fragrance, yet is supported at different stages by some interesting note choices. At first a soft powdered orris, ever so slightly floral, possibly representing the soft warm sands, giving way to a well placed yuzu, the sunshine that adds radiance to both the fragrance and the mental image this all conjures... Mineralic, ozonic, sea-salted breezes blowing from a glistening ocean, over sand dunes studded with beach grass. THIS is Atlante. I perceive Atlante in the same way as fragrances like Ganymede by Marc Antoine Barrois; an elixir that works it's magic in the sillage. And what a sillage it creates! Beautiful.

I hate the way Fragrantica has become so toxic to niche perfumes like the review below. The person below just smelled a sample of this fragrance in a perfumery, didn't like it and felt compelled to share their vapid thoughts about their experience here. Of course the sales associate apologized; you were probably making a scene. Do you find it strange that not a single other reviewer here shares your experience with this fragrance. Do you even like aquatic fragrances? It doesn't sound like it the way you are reacting to the "fish" notes. It's "ok" move out of your lane, try something different, to not enjoy your experience and move back to your favorites. What is not "ok" is to come here and bash a fragrance you smelled for 5 seconds and have no intention of ever wearing. And I quote... "Vaginal Discharge", 😒 Do better please...

Mmm..I like It . It's different. A touch avant garde. The opening is definitely about the seaweed and shells. It settles and then it becomes very metallic and yuzu fresh on my skin. I don't think the orris butter managed to get to the surface on me. The seaweed, metallic and yuzu are quite strong. I normally steer clear of the yuzu note but I don't mind it in this unique creation. It adds a freshness. There is a sweetness coming from somewhere. Puzzling. The tide has gone out and shells glisten in the warm sunshine. A fella is working on his boat further along The beach. The yuzu and metallic notes are strong all along the timeline but it's the yuzu that lasts to the end. Very much unisex and a great scent to wear when you want something fresh and long lasting. I get good sillage in this warm room.

First thing first, I consider this fragrance a must smell, it won’t be for everyone, but I think that at least you need to experience it yourself, it’s not the easiest smell profile to imagine or to describe. For me, it’s a situational fragrance, one that I cannot use unless I feel confident enough or the situation asks for it (sunny day or beach getaways) but I could perfectly see it in a more confident individual, I also see it as a fragrance you could use in a more formal daytime occasion as it is an alluring sent, you will get noticed and they will ask what are you wearing even though they like it or not. I love the fragrance and I’m planning to buy a full bottle as soon as I finish my sample from the discovery set.

let me tell you...I wept, this is so amazing. I'm crying just thinking about Atlante. Miss Bakerrrr made this fascinating blend of the unexpected, balancing the weird and the unique. Firstly it smells like static Hubba Bubba, as it evolves, a savory note takes center stage, conjuring a plate of frutti di mare pasta, complete with the fresh, briny scent of clams that lingers for an hour or so. Surprisingly, it works beautifully lol! After that... transitioning seamlessly into a final phase that evokes the warm, mineral essence of sandy beaches. In its entirety, it feels like a sensory journey through Croatia in spring. I will def buy this. Standing ovation!

Imagine sitting on a sun bleached wooden picnic table on a very windy, overcast beach, eating raw oysters on the half shell with lemon. This is that, exactly. You can smell the metallic tang of rocks, the mineral rich shells, the briny sea water, the citrus, the humid atmosphere. As with most of Sarah Baker's line, this isn't a commercially appealing scent. There are some notes within that would appeal to the masses, but this is not a simplified, sterilized ocean water perfume. This is certainly niche in all ways. Absolutely adore it.

This smells like freshly laundered hotel towels, a hint of aquatic '90s perfume, and salty sea air tousling your hair. Atlante reminds me of the beginning of the movie "The Lost Boys". Walking down the boardwalk at night, the lights of ferris wheels and roller coasters providing a vision of future excitement, slightly lonesome when juxtaposed against the darkness that surrounds that place. A cooling breeze blowing off the dark crashing waves. The overall impression of this perfume gives a sense of anticipation.

Aquatics are not everyone's cup of tea and there are certainly a lot of inferior creations out there but Sarah Baker's 'Atlante' (perfumer Sarah McCartney) avoids most of the banal cliches endemic in this style. It captures an illusion of the ocean beautifully. Salty and seaweedy with subtle notes of citrus, herbs and dry woods carried on the winds and the rolling waves to the seashore. It's pretty tenacious and clings to skin and clothing for ages. For me it's more of a Summer scent and a lovely one at that!

I've been searching for an aquatic fragrance that isn't too citrusy and is solidly unisex, and wow, does this deliver. For the first couple of hours, it smells of walking along the water's edge, and then it softens into the smell of my own skin at the end of a day at the seaside--slightly salty, with the barest hint of wood notes. Most of my other favourite fragrances are more suited to either warmer or colder months, but this is perfect to wear all year long. I may have just found my signature scent.

It's like a sea breeze with a hint of melon in the air combined with elements of the rocky shore. There is a scent of rock melon and it must be the yuzu in combination with the other notes that is creating it. One of my favourite fruits is rock melon and here the scent is done so well. The ambergris makes it's delicate, refreshing and ethereal. I find this scent so uplifting and addictive but in the most subtle way. This scent is both artistic and sophisticated feeling.

Where other aquatics often evoke the seaside more as a concept, resulting in what on my skin often smells like minty toothpaste, this amazing perfume really does smell like the sea in all its facets and in all seasons. There is funky seaweed in the opening, there is briney wind and the drydown smells just like the shells you collected to bring home and your salt kissed skin when you step into the shower afterwards.

Atlante is one of my favourite fragrances from Sarah Baker. It's a very unique take on the '"seaside" style scent, which is often made too 'designer-like' in style and doesn't have very good sillage or performance. This fragrance however smells unequivocally niche, and has fantastic performance, garnering many compliments. Well worth buying a full bottle.

I recently moved to Hawai'i. As I adjust to this breezy, indoor/outdoor, ocean-oriented way of life, my appreciation for Atlante has really opened up. Most days I wear this scent and it makes me feel fresh, natural, beautiful, and a little bit mysterious. It's a romantic scent that has an awake, alert quality. I love it and you will too.

This is a masterpiece, just like Megamare. In some sense it is everything Megamare is not, this green, mineral and dense take on marine is the inverse of the grey, salty and fizzy Orto Parisi. Smells like being on a secluded beach, plants and shells gently rotting around a big rock. You feel more alive then 10 minutes ago.

This is great! I ordered the sample kit and shortly afterwards sprung for the full size of Atlante (together with a free 9ml of Jungle Jezebel that my partner loves) Atlante is a really good aquatic (as you'd expect) but the real surprise for me was the listing power. Easily a full day on my skin and longer on clothes.

The aquatic scent was perfect, for me. Not only was the scent amazing but Sarah was super helpful over email too! I'm new to fragrances and didn't really understand how or where to properly apply the fragrance and she gave me some good advice. Good smell, good people, definitely worth the money.

Atlanta, I've never been around, the Atlantic Ocean is beautifully evoked. The name of the ocean comes from Greek mythology and means "Atlas Sea". So I inhaled salt and a great indescribable mass that evokes great respect.

Yes, the smell is very fishy, very oceanic. It will take you to the beach. But it also smells like quality, like some fancy boutique, something sophisticated yet marine.

This is a beautiful and unique aquatic. I smell every note listed. The site offers 2ml testers I HIGHLY RECOMMEND testing first. Full bottle worthy for me.

I really like this one. It’s a classy and slightly experimental niche aquatic that feels different from the usual ocean-inspired scents. Sarah Baker’s Atlante arrives as a full macro‐accord with no foreplay, landing on skin like a wave hitting a sun‐warmed rock. The first highlight is the yuzu, which smells far more polished than anything you’d find in the designer realm. It has a bright, citrus‐green lift. Then the floral combination, the cedarwood and greens wrap around it, creating a clever wet‐stone‐by‐the‐sea illusion, complete with a gentle breeze and not a hint of cliché marine aromachemicals. Aquatic without being aquatic. As with most of Sarah Baker’s work, Atlante's scent is completely genderless. If you’ve ever sampled the brand, you know: these compositions don’t care what’s in your trousers or your life choices. This fragrance is the equivalent of a certain famous French seaside destination: it has a reputation, sure, but the actual experience is much more breezy than the stories suggest. Interpret that as safely as you need to. Performance is good, around 8 hours on skin, solid for something this translucent. The downside: Sarah Baker is still cursed with those tragically cheap sample sprayers, which can make even the best formula seem weaker than it is. Get a proper bottle or decant, and you’ll see the truth. Overall, Sarah McCartney's sea god is a cleverly constructed, deceptively simple, floral‐green coastal sketch.

Pure water nymph perfume. This is what I wanted from Greek Keys. Salty white florals, sparkly yuzu, sunbaked driftwood, and an incredible vegetal/algal vein. It’s pretty and uplifting, but the true oceanic accords keep it just strange enough to feel novel. The opening was fishy enough to get a nose crinkle out of me, though that fortunately faded into more of a clean, mineral brininess. On fabric the scent had great fidelity and lasted a square eight hours. But for some reason on my skin it went matte, with none of the brightness of the yuzu or the clarity of the calones. Still my favourite of the Sarah Baker family. Mental Snapshot: A siren princess, garlanded in sea-glass and crowned in bone-white coral. She’s a vision, even with her webbed fingers and viperfish teeth. The Little Mermaid, directed by Guillermo del Toro. tl;dr: photorealistic mermaid 🧜🦈

The person below who said this smelled like frutti di mare pasta... that’s literally it. It smells like an order of clams or mussels at a high-end restaurant that someone has squeezed a splash of yuzu onto. I get a blast of salty seaweed, powdery orris root, and tart yuzu on the opening, which is honestly not very pleasant to me, but then it dries down to a more subtle, mineralistic driftwood/seashell scent with a lingering hint of citrus. Projection is average, and longevity is decent (5-6 hours) but smelling it too much/getting too close to it does kinda make my nose hurt. This one is really interesting—this is Megamare’s less confident but infinitely nicer, if still a little strange, younger sister. Won’t be shelling out for a full bottle and not totally sure when or where I’ll be reaching for this one but I’ll hang onto my sample.

A good strong Marine/Oceanic scent with a mineralic accord. High tide beach and waves washing a rocky nearshore combining the oceanic and mineralic accords to complete the olfactive image. I love the idea of a beach driftwood note, but I can't seem to detect much of its presence. Nor do I detect the woody accord that is listed as second only to the marine accord in prominence. Sarah Baker herself has confirmed the use of real ambergris in Atlante. Be careful with the sprays and don't directly sniff the points of application. This scent is meant to be smelled "in the air". Its rather Intense mineralic accord can slightly nauseate if you sniff it directly at close quarters too much. This is full bottle worthy for me, but my favorite of the Marine/Oceanic genre remains Creed EROLFA.

It has a similar vibe to Jo Malones wood sage and sea salt or Byozo Sea Breeze. It’s different to these, but still definitely sits in this family. A very enjoyable, grounding, mossy, ocean type of scent. It’s fresh and clean but in different kind of way. An easy wear. Beautiful for spring and summer. Not something I’d have usually picked to test, but it was a free surprise sample and might just end up in a full bottle purchase.

Its lovely. There is a real seaside feel to this one. The yuzu on top keeps the composition fresh and the blend of aquatics and ozonics with the seaweed really gives the impression of moist sea air full of negative ions, that sense you get when you take a fresh breath of air on a windy seaside in the spring. Great cooling scent for the summer and it smells very naturalistic and fresh and delightful.

Fresh, raw oysters on half shell. This is a crazy potion—smelling briny and fishy. The metallic notes are making my teeth tingle. I’m having some difficulty getting past the opening. Props to Sarah Baker for creating the most realistic ocean smell I’ve come across. For me this is more of a novelty and not something I want to wear. Still pushing the “like” button, it’s just not wearable.

Oh ... this is the smell of the SEA. You just got drenched in a wave and are walking back to your towel to dry off. You can smell the sand underneath you and the sun is peaking through your eyelids. Gonna save this sample for my next vacation

Ok besides the stink of the first 1-2 minutes this is lovely. Yikes I thought I was in a barnyard for a minute there. The dry down is a very nice marine/mineral citrus.. very pleasant for the most part. Longevity is so-so about 4 hours on me.

I think this is a lovely scent of the beach and sea breeze fragrance. I do find this within the same family as Jo Malone wood sage & sea salt. I own Sea Breeze by Bybozo which is similar again but with more citrus. This is beautiful though.

For me, this is one of those fragrances where 2+2=5. Had I looked at the notes first, I wouldn't have even tried it. Yes, slightly fishy. The metal is there, but so slight and as an accent. Perhaps a concept fragrance but a like from me.

Disclaimer: I am specifically on the hunt for an oceanic fragrance that evokes the realism of the seashore, complete with (and ideally focusing on!) its more challenging aspects. Atlante was on my radar as a strong contender, so I picked up a sample from my favorite niche perfume store. The opening is wonderful, smelling of seaweed washed ashore, salty ocean spray, and the briney clouds of seafoam that collect along the coast. After the dry-down, however, Atlante becomes a little too polite to deliver what I was hoping to find. Yuzu comes forward quite a bit and its citrus scent breaks the spell. The scent retains some salinity while becoming much brighter and fresher. My partner said it reminds them of a bathroom spray or a summer candle. I completely understand the perfumer’s choice to do this, as I doubt a photorealistic low-tide olfactory experience would sell well. If you’re looking for a marine fragrance that starts off densely oceanic and dries down into an inoffensive and unique summer scent, definitely give Atlante a shot. I do love that this fragrance avoids a lot of marine cliches — not a single whiff of ozones or coconut to be found. Overall, a very successful and enjoyable perfume for warm weather, but my search continues.

The notes look lovely but this one is kinda forgettable and very meak, unfortunately. I forgot I had it on and could barely smell it. Merveilles Bleue by Hermès is a much better woody/marine interpretation in my opinion!

Usually I go nuts for artistic perfumery but this time it wasn’t in a good way I didn’t get any citrus in the scent On initial spray you get the ocean’s smell and once the seaweed note kicks in moments later you are bound to gag The reviews that mentioned “fishy” were not sugarcoating it , it’s the truth fishy to the max I don’t remember smelling a scent that is fishy same as this one Unfortunately I am not a sea or a fish lover so it was repulsive to me and I won’t be wearing it again

The opening is a bit of "au secours!" Way too much seaweed and also something smokey; it must be one of those aromachemicals they use for a leather accord. It settles into something fruity metallic(uh-huh!) It smells more interesting on paper than on skin, so, don't be fooled, always try on your skin. Hard pass.

I know this is a great, well-blended fragrance but it’s just not wearable for me. I do like marine fragrances but this one is a bit too briny for me. I can say it will definitely please someone who is looking for a very realistic sea scent!

Opening was ok but immediately made me queasy right after. So repulsively fishy like you're licking and smelling dirty seashells on a hot beach made out of rocks. Gag-o-rama.

Even being not a fan of calone and marine notes, I can recognize that it is a good fragrance for lovers of this olfactory family. In the drydown it seems original, fresh and measured, with very realistic nuances to the sea breeze. However, its worst part for me is the top, which, although adorned with a sparkling yuzu, is a slap of seaweed and a calone note reminiscent of melon. The drydown is more pleasant to me, leaving the woods, ambroxan and mineral notes on my skin in the company of a salty accord and a bit of a fruity aspect. However, on a global level it doesn't quite fit me. It has a moderate-high sillage and lasts about 9 hours on my skin. In my case, if looking for a perfume with salt, which is a note that I enjoy, I would go for options that I like more, without also having to experience that opening that was so unpleasant for me. Scent 5/10 Duration 9/10 Sillage 8/10 Quality/price 6/10 Versatility 4/10 Packaging 7/10 Would I buy again? I did not buy it

I see this being compared to Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt, and I agree only in the fact they are both unisex (but definitely sort of female leaning) marine scents. But the difference is this actually smells well put together. This is world's apart from that Jo Malone rubbish. It's clean, clear, fresh and uplifting. An idealised view of being freshly showered and going for a stroll in the French Riviera. A fresh sea breeze rolls in cooling you down in the summer heat. I was definitely hoping for more of this "seashell" note though. In my head I was imagining using something like Choya Nakh to give that seashell feel, but this doesn't have that. It's very lovely though.
