Flame & Fortune (2023)

I will preface by saying that I have a hardcore tuberose obsession so I am predisposed of liking this to begin with, but even so this fragrance is incredibly unique, there is nothing quite like it. I get a base of tuberose with a touch of orange blossom and jasmine, a slight sweetness, don't think gourmand sweet it's more of creamy, slightly lactonic sweet, feels almost like the feeling of warmth when you get your nose near an open flame burning something slightly woody, and all these heavier, deep and thicker notes are uplifted by a very bubbly/effervescent uplifting touch, probably this is what they advertise as notes of pink pepper and ginger. This is top 3 fragrances I have sniffed in my life, incredible olfactive experience, best of Sarah Baker for sure, amazing lasting power, I have not worn this in public yet, but the times I wore this the sillage was great, thankfully not beast mode/suffocating, definitely great and projection. Fully Unisex I would say, maybe leaning more masculine to me. 145 GBP for 50ml bottle for an extrait, it is on the higher end of price per ml but certainly worth it, I will always repurchase this, if this fragrance has a fan it is me , if this fragrance has no fans I am dead. I hope we get a 100ml in the future pls Sarah Do TEST before you buy, NOT a safe blind buy I would say.

If the original was a heart breaker, her child is an absolute maneater with the finesse of an assassin. The orange blossom is sharper and more sophisticated. The tuberose feels slightly sturdier against the mezcal and caramelized notes. The motor oil note is one they put in expensive vintage sports cars- not the kind you can find in AutoZone. Everything in this one feels bigger but far more polished— less explosive- and the original was already a stunner. It’s a truly unisex fragrance- a duality that’s quite tough in tuberose-centered florals. And what a value for the performance it gives. You’ll smell this all day.

Flame and Fortune really surprised me as I usually don't enjoy more floral scents, especially tuberose, but this is such an interesting combination of notes that I find myself being drawn deeper and deeper into the wild car chase that it suggests. It makes me feel like I'm dancing on a beach in Mexico next to a bonfire while drinking a Mezcal cocktail. It reminds me of late summer nights and sunsets and feels like freedom and good times in a bottle.

Serous amounts of va va voom. I'd forgotten Sarah Baker signed the original F&F and similarly this new extrait version is like a nitro boost for your senses. Gas-guzzling, it hurtles you into a high-speed chase through a field of oil-stained tuberoses. It's racy stuff. The motor oil, the mezcal, the white flowers. If this is the same as the old Flame and Fortune then it’s quite a nice and interesting fragrance.

At first I was a little disappointed, because at the first glance the fragrance does not have any bombastic features (if you came for the motor oil or fire accord you will be disappointed imo), but it grew on me. It's a bouquet of white flowers with leafy and bitter undertones and some spicy bite. Pleasant and unique, but personally I don't see the fragrance related to car and road.

Round puffy tuberose and sweet jasmine. Very similar motor oil accord as found in Rubini's Nuvolari, but where Nuvolari takes that and goes in a very dense thick syrupy sweet way, this is used as a way to sweeten up floral notes. Very unisex. Very likeable.

I fell for the marketing on this one and preordered it, thinking it would be a safe blind buy for me, since I love Rules of Attraction and Tartan, and I like Charade. This is an orange blossom perfume, not a tuberose, unfortunately. I bought the 50ml and I'm 2/3 of the way through my sample that it came with. I think I may return my unopened 50ml because I really am not fond of orange blossom. The perfume "works," but I don't believe it's for me due to the overpowering orange blossom. The motor oil, or the idea of it, is present but not offputting. Not sure what mezcal smells like. I see apricot listed fairly highly, too―another note that seldom works for me. Really too bad. Love the idea of this one. Note: I layered this with Dame's Soliflore Tuberose oil, hoping to amp up the tuberose, but they smelled awful together. Maybe a different simple tuberose perfume would do the trick. Not sure.

Pure orange blossom water... and unfortunately I’ve always hated the scent of orange blossom. Even pure orange blossom water smells disgustingly chemically to me. I love tuberose, other white florals, ginger, and orange zest but get none of those through the sickly overpowering orange blossom. Nor do I get any delicious sweet crepes Suzette. The description of this fragrance sounds so damn exciting, but all I get is an explosive deadly car crash into a flowering orange tree. Edit: on my partner’s skin this smells very different. The orange blossom is in the background and is much more tolerable. I smell much more orange zest and tuberose! I quite like it... why does it smell so terrible on my skin wahh

On paper I just get orange blossom but trust me when I say that this thing totally changes on skin, at least in mine. Quite animalic, sweet, and somehow not really wearable, definitely not in summer. Anyway great composition but you have to test in skin first and wait 30 minutes.

agree that it grows on you. super musky and dark at first but becomes more personal pretty quickly. fine.
