Peach's Revenge

First proper wearing today from branded sample. I purchased a full bottle direct from Sarah Baker as they are offering free sample and returns on this if you decide not to keep it so figured it would be a great way to test it out. I will be keeping my bottle as the scent is gorgeous! I love fruity and sweet scents, and have a few of Chris Maurice's offerings amongst my favourite perfumes (Methexis, Panda) so was very excited about this one. The peach and guava are both the most prominent notes to me in the opening - together they pull ripe and juicy with a tropical tang. My partner said I smelled firstly of "sorbet", and then of "a Solero" (a British tropical ice lolly with a vanilla ice cream centre), and to be honest, he hit the nail on the head. This is creamy from about a minute in - the caramel and vanilla combine with the fruits to give a lactonic fruity milkshake vibe. The amaretto is barely perceptible - there is a sweet syrupy ness but nothing obviously boozy or almondy, but altogether this opens very delicious, quite gourmand yet not too cloying or heavy due to the guava bringing a freshness. I love it. I will say it turns into a peach sherbert kind of feeling on skin after the first 30 minutes or so, there is a hint of powder, but it's less prominent than the accords here suggest, which I'm glad about. I don't really notice the orris, or spices overtly at all. From the first 30 minutes on, it's fairly linear with not a lot of development. I would say this is most similar to 2 perfumes I've smelt previously: firstly, Cruz Del Sur 2 (same perfumer), but no where near as straight up milky as that. If the lactones in CDS2 are a 10/10 in intensity, this is about a 3/10 so not as polarising, and here we have the peach instead of mango, with less greenness than in CDS2, but conceptually and structurally I can see some similarity. Second - THOO BonBon Pop - the sweet creamy peach note is similar. Now the downside...this had pleasant and noticeable sillage for the first hour on me, but after that is minimal in it's projection. I've been wearing today for about 5.5 hours now, and can just about detect on skin close up, but really after about 3-4 hours it wasn't really present any more. It also seems to not project much from clothing, and again, the scent is far softer after this time than I would hope or expect, especially from an extrait. I do think this will be a softer wearing scent than many from the house, and also than many in my collection. I like the scent enough to keep it, but will need to experiment more with temperature etc to see if warmer weather helps with this (today it's about 13 degrees C). Honestly, I think this could do with more prominent base notes to really anchor it (creamy woods a la sandalwood for example), and can see that the lack of this won't be to some people's tastes, which is a fair critique, especially about a house and perfumer known for heavy hitters. As a result, I can't see this working in cooler weather really, but again I will update when I've done further testing.

I sampled "Peach's Revenge | Sarah Baker Perfumes" a while back and really loved it, but after reading reviews I decided to sample "Pastel Rumours | Sarah Baker Perfumes" and "Rococo Pie | Sarah Baker Perfumes", along with "Peach Macaron | Theodoros Kalotinis". The idea was to only purchase the one I loved the most. "Rococo Pie | Sarah Baker Perfumes" was the only I really disliked "Pastel Rumours | Sarah Baker Perfumes" is a gorgeous, creamy, candy, peach/vanilla yogurt fragrance. Im really glad I can’t smell the cardamom in this. It does smell quite similar to "Peach's Revenge | Sarah Baker Perfumes", although I think this is the more versatile, safe, mass appealing, easier to wear option. I love it! This is the one I’d probably get the most wear out of. "Peach's Revenge | Sarah Baker Perfumes" is memorable and made a lasting impression on me. It’s a gorgeous, more unique and complex candied Peach, Guava, vanilla and cinnamon/amaretto scent. I do sometimes get a bit of a mustiness in the dry down, which I guess is the peach/cinnamon combo, but due to this I do have to be in the mood to wear it. I was really captivated by the Guava note though, which is 10/10 to die for! It gives the scent that little something special and made it a real struggle to decide which one I liked more. I love Peach's Revenge for its uniqueness, and it lasts the longest, but I honestly couldn’t decide. "Peach Macaron | Theodoros Kalotinis" is ok, but my least favourite. It’s similar to "Pastel Rumours | Sarah Baker Perfumes", but I feel Pastel Rumours is higher quality. I didn’t find Peach Macaroon particularly unique and actually thought it was a bit harsh and screechy. The longevity on me is also poor, so this was a definite no. Conclusion - Both "Pastel Rumours | Sarah Baker Perfumes" and "Peach's Revenge | Sarah Baker Perfumes" are stunning scents and absolute loves! They are both high quality, project and are long lasting. If you have one, you really don’t need the other. I just couldn’t choose a favourite between them and had to have them both. I’ve even been layering them. Out of my full collection these are my current favourite scents!

There are two reasons I got this. First, I love what Chris Maurice and Sarah Baker do and was curious to smell a non-oud juice for the brand. Second, I wanted to know why everyone was going crazy for it. If I hesitated, it was because the word "sweet" occurred time and time again in what people wrote about it online and I'm self-confessed as not really liking sweet fragrances. In hindsight, I should clarify that I'm not a fan of sweet fragrances that evoke cotton candy. But this is very different from those kinds of perfumes. The sweetness comes from the peach and other fruits. It's the olfactory equivalent of the joy of a healthy piece of succulent sweet fruit versus a spoonful of sugar to help the medicine go down. Though it's definitely a gourmand, there are these spicy, woody and amber notes that come through in the dry down that really make a difference, to me at least. Because it's both sweet and spicy, I favour it for more smart occasions rather than whizzing about on daily business. It feels like an "occasion perfume". But that's just me. I think it is unisex but with certain qualifications. I think if you're a man who always heads in the direction of citrus or aquatics—freshies—this is probably going to prove a little complex. But, it you're a guy who likes spicy, woody fragrances, you should definitely check it out. There is still something very fresh in all that sweet fruit that gives it something really different. If you're a woman who likes sweet fragrances, gourmands, heavier and classic "feminine" fragrances, this is definitely one to try. It's a powerful, long-lasting fragrance, but with a light touch from ripe fruits. Regardless of your gender, I you want people to notice what you're wearing in a good way, this one really lives up to the applause. It's a real "all eyes on me" fragrance.

It's not the typical, pretty peachy cheerleader who is too cool to be friends with you but someone who is a little quirky, odd, and beyond endearing - you don't just want to be friends with this person, you want to be them. This was one of the first tester's I tried in my perfume journey. I hated it, it had an overwhelming spicy / scratchy note. I could not understand the positive reviews. Fast forward a couple of months and today I tested out a small selection of peach perfumes and decided to try again and see how it faired in comparison. Today it is just gorgeous. It smells incredible. How can this be? I get peach, guava and a hint of fireballs (that would be the cinnamon!). It is hands down my favourite of the peach scents tested today in order of favourite: Peach's Revenge (I want to be you, you quirky cool kid), Bitter Peach (nice, but you've smelt it before), Peche Cardinal (artificially sweetened peach cordial) and Hundred Silent Ways X (just perfume).

Went to a local boutique and came across this one. This was left a lasting impression on me that I ended up buying a 50ml. Usually not into gourmand-y fragrances, but there was something about this one. Opens with a fresh and sparkling peach and guava. I feel like people either love or hate guava. I personally love it, but that's because of nostalgia. Seems like it is going to be a nice spring/summer scent, then in comes the sweetness with the vanilla and caramel that gives a milky note. Not as much as Pastel Rumours. Pastel Rumours is more of a bowl of cereal. The funny thing is you expect the fruits to go away, but they stick around and punch along with the sweetness. This lasts all day. I think this one is very divisive. I personally love it, but my wife can't stand it. She says that after the initial fruity-ness, she gets a medicinal cough drop. Then the vanilla is too much (she is not a vanilla lover). Definitely a sample before you buy.
