Symmetry

This is a revelation. Now, while I'm pretty confident that I am someone that loves woody notes, I've always been a little cautious about oud. I love the smell of it and I love the smell of various oud perfumes on others, but I'm not sure that oud loves me. This consummate fragrance shows me that it was never oud that didn't love me, but its usual "olfactory language" that combines it with notes that take things in a rich, opulent, even overpowering direction. Enter Symmetry, which combines oud with pure freshness while still remaining complex. Hardly surprising: Maestro Maurice uses what I can only describe as some of the most classical ingredients from a gentleman's toilet requisite canon (and, no, ladies, don't let that put you off; it's genuinely unisex) to create something that is simultaneously classic and entirely contemporary. If there were ever a scent that was a "whenever you want to wear it" fragrance, this is it. It's sophisticated enough for a gala ball and breezy enough for a barbecue. My only moan is that it doesn't come with a screw-top bottle option. Because when we can finally all travel again, I'm going to blow the dust off my travel atomiser and fill the tank with this baby because I know that it will be the only fragrance I will need to pop in my dopp kit when I get back to gruelling travel schedules.

I wrote a review of this one when it first came out; fell instantly in love with its unique and unexpected combination of fresh citrus and oud. Yet this year, it seems to have nudged ahead as my most frequently worn fragrances in hot weather. I think in the past I was worried that the heavier oud notes would end up overpowering the bergamot, neroli and citrus notes, but that's not the case at all. Definitely the perfect choice if you're rushing around all day and don't have time to go back to the hotel before going to some dressed-up event.

I have a travel size of this and though oud is the only thing in common with Gold Spot, I can definitely smell the common DNA between Symmetry, Loudo and Gold Spot. I know there are no sweet notes in the profile but to me it smells sweeter than a woody citrus fragrance normally would. It's terrific - I honestly think all of the Sarah Baker and S. Baker are wonderful. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the price. I think it's moderately lasting. Perfectly unisex 9/10 smell 5/10 price.

#974 in my "Tour de Fragrance" I'm pretty easy to please with an oudy fragrance. Some agarwood, some cypriol, whatever else you want to toss in, as long as you don't overdo the rose. Or like this scent, leave the rose out altogether. I will probably wear it. But $150 for 50ml? This is a very nice scent. No complaints about it whatever. Excellent quality all around, absolutely versatile. Still, so many Middle Eastern houses making inexpensive, high quality oud scents, so many popular consumer brands like Gucci, Hugo Boss, Versace, Armani, Polo with nice affordable oud scents. But you really should check out Paris Corner's "Killer Oud" Line. Under $30 at Fragrancebuy.ca, dead on clones of Amouage's best oud scents, especially the one's for us guys. The citrus opening married to the oud and amber evoked, for a moment, M7 just for a little bit, but this is definitely a different beast. The citrus gives way to the smoky, dry note of nagarmotha which blooms and actually becomes equally defining as the amber-oud chord. It all harmonizes nicely, albeit a little predictably. If I stumbled across this looking for a good "workhorse" casual oud scent and didn't want to go in search of the perfect scent, I'd probably be totally satisfied settling for this one, but I don't feel as if I absolutely need to go out and get this one with overlapping scents like Oud Wood and M7 in my collection already.

Perfume of very high intensity and duration that exceeds 10 hours. This perfume is for people who really like oud wood with animal sensations or aromas. It is also the first aromatic sensation that alolfato reaches us, a powerful animal oud. When we let time pass after putting on the perfume, we will begin to feel how the wood has green, woody and white floral aromas but always the animal oud as the center. For me it is not a unisex perfume, it is a more masculine perfume. I definitely recommend this perfume to those who are very passionate about ous wood because it is very present in it.

Symmetry is a funky little number, as in there’s quite a bit of funk about it. It’s a fragrance about the body and the soft odours that emerge and evolve through a long humid night of unbridled carnality. Sweat mixed with rich spices from a meal eaten earlier that evening, slowly but surely engulfing the floral perfume applied to neck and wrists as an overture to temptation. A softly animalic musk is the icing on the cake. It won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but I found a good deal to admire and enjoy here. I like it.

This is a gorgeous sweet oud perfume with beautiful notes of fruits, sugary sweets, oud and woods. Because I already own the LOUDO perfume by the same maker, symmetry is a bit redundant for me. I do, however, aspire to buy the GOLD SPOT one day (which is known for its even sweeter and more buttery nature due to the butterscotch addition).

A Cypriol oil showcase used in a reserved dosage, blending 'fresh' bergamot with a touch or neroli up top. During a dry down, that lasts quite a good few hours (6ish or more) a musky amberiness mellows the cypriol out... To a degree. A really attractive sibling to the more popular Loudo.

Sweet, juicey, woody, green slight floral. I love it. At dry down oud tone down. Can be worn in warm weather.

This is really basic in my opinion, and i wouldn't buy this cause of its simplicity. the smell itself is fine but just too basic for me i imagine a random NPC on the street wearing this 4/10

My partner and I got the Sarah Barker discovery kit and overall we were disappointed. we tested all on strips at first and then skin our final thoughts are: Gold Spot, Loudo and Symmetry are all half siblings but with the same last name (Dad, specifically.) Not only are they all made by the same Perfumer (Chris Maurice) but they ALSO ALL CONTAIN Bergamot, Petitgrain, Orange blossom, Amber, Cypriol, Musk and Laos Oud. Symmetry and Loudo both contain Neroli. Loudo and Gold Spot both contain Vanilla. Loudo contains White Chocolate and Cherry (uuuuh is the cherry in the room with us??) while Gold spot contains Dark Chocolate, Butterscotch and Sweet Myrrh. If I had to pick one of the three, It would be Gold Spot, I can only just smell the Dark Chocolate and the myrhh is lovely, but again all 3 are almost identical, Gold Spot is the Golden Child. Loudo is second and Symmetry is last... overall I just don't think this trilogy is for me... If they weren't in the discovery set I wouldn't of picked them... Different strokes for different folks.

Something is symmetrical when it has two matching halves, so it makes sense that Symmetry has two sides which certainly do complement each other harmoniously. It is the first release in a trilogy of oud-based perfumes created for the brand by the master of oud, Chris Maurice, using orange blossom, cypriol, and natural laos ouds. Bearing in mind each three contain natural ouds tinctured by CM, the $ per ml is an absolute steal. Huge props to Sarah on this. Symmetry’s first half has the composition of a neroli cologne, all fresh citrus and green notes. Oud plays a significant role in the other half and between the two, they bring together a fantastic perfume that is never too much of one side or the other. Having sampled all three of the trilogy, I find this one the least challenging. For fans of oud, all three are worth seeking out and for those put off by it, these are all accessible enough to get you started enjoying oud. With most oud fragrances containing only a synthetic oud note, be it from Givaudan or one of the other big companies, it is fantastic to have these three great value options as an entry into the world of natural oud perfumery.

Impressed with this my 1st purchase from the house I would best describe this as a green Oud with some citrus thrown in. Very nice fragrance with good projection 6/10 & good longevity 6/10. I have been using this quite a bit & it transcends seasons would recommend as a gateway into Oud.
