Blue Rhapsody

So Blue Rhapsody is easily my fave of this trio - mainly for the fact it's got the most depth. I would say this has the most longevity of the 3. This has much bolder notes, so I am not surprised. The powdery, violet, and oud are so beautifully mixed. If you're a woody/oud person, the offering here is softer and more romantic. The stars are really the musk, iris, and amber. It's a soft, ambery musky scent in the opening, a bit dry, but then that iris shines and really gives this a comforting, grown, and almost makeup vibe. I really do like this one for normal wear, but I could see it being a nice intimate evening scent. Surprisingly office-friendly, and I would say, oddly enough, this is the most blind buy-friendly. I could also do the same with "smitten in pink." I think that is easily a no-brainer blind buy, but if you don't like sweet scents and prefer a softer musky profile, this is the easier blind buy. I would give this an 8/10 overall, and I really love the bottle, the magnetic lid, and the overall elevated SJP look. If you love any of the LOVELY line, and it's split off, this is the most similar release to those.

This is spicy, dry woods when first sprayed. I get some of the iris as it dries down. And, as expected, it becomes significantly more woody as it matures. I like oud in general, but it's important to note this is not an overwhelming, fecal oud. I'm moderately shocked to see no palo santo in the notes, because that's what comes through for me. The combination of the sandalwood and nutmeg results in a strong chai latte aspect. It's definitely not super lactonic however, and retains that dry woods with warm spices character as it matures. Initially, the closest thing I already own to this is Costume National's 21, which is a bit more musky. But after this matures, the resultant scent is a slightly more iris-heavy version of Santal Dan Sha. The lasting power on this is decent, partly because the woods and warm spices are strong enough initially. The iris really stays with this one, keeping it less warm and dark over time than similarly noted scents. It seems to retain that vegetal aspect, which balance is out the slightly sweet and lactonic notes. I enjoy this and will use it in spring and autumn, primarily. It, like the other two scents in this SJP release, has light sillage and moderate lasting power. I see this as a safe bet for daytime wear in situations where oddball notes and huge sillage wouldn't be welcome.

I'm so disappointed with this. I've loved perfumes by SJP especially the Stash line, and I love woody fragrances, so I expected this to be a winner for me, but it does nothing for me at all. The scent itself I can't even describe. It's just 'there' but there's not a single standout note in there that makes me enjoy it. I don't find it pleasant at all. I hoped perhaps as it warmed on my skin it would develop, but it didn't. It just remained there, still smelling chemically. The saving grace was that within a couple of hours, the scent was gone completely. Thank goodness. Ordinarily, I would be disappointed in a perfume with such poor longevity, but I was really pleased when it wore off so soon. That said, I find it very overpriced for such poor performance and unremarkable scent. Not what I expected from SJP at all. The bottle is nice. Sadly, that's the only positive I can give it. I also have Smitten In Pink and am disappointed with that too. It smells nicer than this, but has equally poor performance. What a shame.

While I usually gravitate toward the warmth of musk, oud, and amber, this fragrance becomes a total patchouli bomb on my skin. To its credit, it doesn’t have that synthetic "celebrity scent" feel; it definitely leans more niche and artisanal. Unfortunately, it just isn't to my personal taste.

I was really looking forward to trying this one as I am a big Lovely, Stash and Covet fan. While the bottle is cute, the juice is like a watered down and less sweet version of Stash and is just not worth the money. Does have good longevity.
