Lovely 10th Anniversary Edition

I had the original Lovely after smelling it on a friend of mine. It smelled perfectly soapy and fresh on her. She’s a teacher and I think that Lovely completely embodies what a caregiver should smell like which is warm, cheerful, comforting, inviting, and soothing. I immediately went to Kohl’s to get a bottle for myself. It was a love and It smelled exactly the way it did on my friend but ultimately I was so disappointed by the performance. I ended up sticking with my similar tried and true NR for Her and using Lovely as a room/linen spray. Sadly, I didn’t even know about this version until recently. This is what the original should have been from day one. Yes, like many people have said, this is the superior Lovely. It is deeper, richer, and performs better. There’s a slight metallic, crisp, icy bite to this. It’s done very subtly here but I detect a similar crispness that is present in the more pronounced forms of Tommy Girl and DKNY’s Women. This glacier aspect does serve to add some depth that’s missing in the original formulation. The scent fits the chrome/mirrored pink bottle with the elegant gold cap. It’s chic and unmistakably feminine like the original with slight modern enhancements. To look at the composition, you wouldn’t think that adding salt, apple, and white pepper would make a noticeable improvement but it really does. In creating this perfume, SJP cited Skin Musk by Bonne Bell and Incense Avignon by Comme des Garcons as inspiration. The musk is the star of the show for me. In this regard, SJP remained vague and divulged that the third component of inspo for Lovely was an Egyptian Musk oil that she purchased earlier in her career from a NY street vendor. It’s almost certainly the infamous Abdul Kareem version that was Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy’s signature and with good reason because it’s AMAZING. Lovely managed to make the musk very potent and center staged but it’s not overwhelming or overly powdery. I believe that it’s this particular musk that ties the whole fragrance together. Now, there’s a bit of an interesting overlap here because Narciso Rodriguez paid homage to CKB with his seminal fragrance, For Her EDT. Although, I feel that Lovely more closely resembles the EDP, It’s far too close to be a coincidence. Taking into account that they both dated the brass ring that was JFK Jr and potentially ran in similar social circles, I definitely think SJP was inspired by CKB whether it was deliberately or inadvertently in many ways over the years. They even look quite similar. Quite honestly, I think many women were and are inspired because CBK had that effortless, minimalistic, timeless, clean girl aesthetic down pat. Those aspects definitely shine through in this fragrance and I love it. Edit I had to track down a backup for this which I rarely do because this is ADDICTING. I will keep my eye out for another bottle, it’s that good! It smells gorgeous on its own but it can be layered with so many fragrances. My favorite layering combos so far are with JLo’s Glow, Finery’s Without A Trace, and really any musk dominant fragrance.

Yes yes and more yes. It's gorgeous, it's refined, it's classy...it's lovely. I get about the same performance projection-wise...however as others have mentioned...this one is slightly slightly stronger in terms of the scent itself and I do get a slightly elongated longevity from this one compared to the original. The original gives me about 4-5 hours of wear while this one gives me about 6-7 hours depending on amount of sprays I use. This is just beautiful. There's so much going on here. I read in a magazine ad for this perfume that this perfume is basically a classy, gorgeous floral and musky apple martini all in one. And I couldn't agree more. That's exactly what it smells like in a very airy, classy, inoffensive type of way. It comes off so clean and beautiful. Also as a side note...not only is this bottle a little prettier than the original...but the sprayer was also improved on as well. This one sprays easier and has a stronger mist that it puts out. Scent Itself - 9.5/10 Longevity - 9/10 Sillage - 8.5/10 (About 3-4 feet) Overall Rating - 9/10 GORGEOUS!! Also...with Christmas coming up, I feel obligated to tell you all that this would make a GREAT gift for any woman. I'm actually getting one for my mom as she LOVES the original Lovely but always told me she wished it lasted longer. Her wish will be granted on Dec 25th 2016. =)

My bottle arrived today, and like Jomoves I've done an arm vs arm comparison with the regular SJP Lovely. I do believe the anniversary edition is slightly more intense than the original, however they are very close. I find the anniversary edition slightly more similar to NR For Her due to a pronounced medicinal musk note. I DO like the reflective anniversary bottle. If you already own Lovely you probably don't need this, but if you don't already have it you may find the anniversary bottle worth acquiring. It does show fingerprints though!

I received this yesterday, purchased on Ebay (abouto $24 for a 3.4 oz bottle). I really did not find this to be different than the original Lovely, which is great. My hope was that it would be a little stronger and last a little longer, but I am still figuring that out. The bottle is pretty, a little different, metallic looking But I love the original bottle better - Really the bottle does not matter much to me because I really don't display my perfume. Lovely is such a beautiful scent and I get a lot of compliments when I wear this.

They should’ve called this Lovelier 🥰♥️ This Version is stronger and lasts longer IMO. Honestly one of my favorites and so affordable.
