Lovely 10th Anniversary Edition

I had the original Lovely after smelling it on a friend of mine. It smelled perfectly soapy and fresh on her. She’s a teacher and I think that Lovely completely embodies what a caregiver should smell like which is warm, cheerful, comforting, inviting, and soothing. I immediately went to Kohl’s to get a bottle for myself. It was a love and It smelled exactly the way it did on my friend but ultimately I was so disappointed by the performance. I ended up sticking with my similar tried and true NR for Her and using Lovely as a room/linen spray. Sadly, I didn’t even know about this version until recently. This is what the original should have been from day one. Yes, like many people have said, this is the superior Lovely. It is deeper, richer, and performs better. There’s a slight metallic, crisp, icy bite to this. It’s done very subtly here but I detect a similar crispness that is present in the more pronounced forms of Tommy Girl and DKNY’s Women. This glacier aspect does serve to add some depth that’s missing in the original formulation. The scent fits the chrome/mirrored pink bottle with the elegant gold cap. It’s chic and unmistakably feminine like the original with slight modern enhancements. To look at the composition, you wouldn’t think that adding salt, apple, and white pepper would make a noticeable improvement but it really does. In creating this perfume, SJP cited Skin Musk by Bonne Bell and Incense Avignon by Comme des Garcons as inspiration. The musk is the star of the show for me. In this regard, SJP remained vague and divulged that the third component of inspo for Lovely was an Egyptian Musk oil that she purchased earlier in her career from a NY street vendor. It’s almost certainly the infamous Abdul Kareem version that was Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy’s signature and with good reason because it’s AMAZING. Lovely managed to make the musk very potent and center staged but it’s not overwhelming or overly powdery. I believe that it’s this particular musk that ties the whole fragrance together. Now, there’s a bit of an interesting overlap here because Narciso Rodriguez paid homage to CKB with his seminal fragrance, For Her EDT. Although, I feel that Lovely more closely resembles the EDP, It’s far too close to be a coincidence. Taking into account that they both dated the brass ring that was JFK Jr and potentially ran in similar social circles, I definitely think SJP was inspired by CKB whether it was deliberately or inadvertently in many ways over the years. They even look quite similar. Quite honestly, I think many women were and are inspired because CBK had that effortless, minimalistic, timeless, clean girl aesthetic down pat. Those aspects definitely shine through in this fragrance and I love it. Edit I had to track down a backup for this which I rarely do because this is ADDICTING. I will keep my eye out for another bottle, it’s that good! It smells gorgeous on its own but it can be layered with so many fragrances. My favorite layering combos so far are with JLo’s Glow, Finery’s Without A Trace, and really any musk dominant fragrance.

Yes yes and more yes. It's gorgeous, it's refined, it's classy...it's lovely. I get about the same performance projection-wise...however as others have mentioned...this one is slightly slightly stronger in terms of the scent itself and I do get a slightly elongated longevity from this one compared to the original. The original gives me about 4-5 hours of wear while this one gives me about 6-7 hours depending on amount of sprays I use. This is just beautiful. There's so much going on here. I read in a magazine ad for this perfume that this perfume is basically a classy, gorgeous floral and musky apple martini all in one. And I couldn't agree more. That's exactly what it smells like in a very airy, classy, inoffensive type of way. It comes off so clean and beautiful. Also as a side note...not only is this bottle a little prettier than the original...but the sprayer was also improved on as well. This one sprays easier and has a stronger mist that it puts out. Scent Itself - 9.5/10 Longevity - 9/10 Sillage - 8.5/10 (About 3-4 feet) Overall Rating - 9/10 GORGEOUS!! Also...with Christmas coming up, I feel obligated to tell you all that this would make a GREAT gift for any woman. I'm actually getting one for my mom as she LOVES the original Lovely but always told me she wished it lasted longer. Her wish will be granted on Dec 25th 2016. =)

My bottle arrived today, and like Jomoves I've done an arm vs arm comparison with the regular SJP Lovely. I do believe the anniversary edition is slightly more intense than the original, however they are very close. I find the anniversary edition slightly more similar to NR For Her due to a pronounced medicinal musk note. I DO like the reflective anniversary bottle. If you already own Lovely you probably don't need this, but if you don't already have it you may find the anniversary bottle worth acquiring. It does show fingerprints though!

I received this yesterday, purchased on Ebay (abouto $24 for a 3.4 oz bottle). I really did not find this to be different than the original Lovely, which is great. My hope was that it would be a little stronger and last a little longer, but I am still figuring that out. The bottle is pretty, a little different, metallic looking But I love the original bottle better - Really the bottle does not matter much to me because I really don't display my perfume. Lovely is such a beautiful scent and I get a lot of compliments when I wear this.

They should’ve called this Lovelier 🥰♥️ This Version is stronger and lasts longer IMO. Honestly one of my favorites and so affordable.

Body chemistry has a lot to do with how a scent will react with your skin. When this first arrived on the market, I was sickened by it. Day or night, winter or summer, it smelled like urinal cakes on my skin. Fast forward to now. I am a dialysis patient and over the past year, my whole body has changed. My curly hair and ringlets? Gone, replaced by a straight mess. My taste for anything sweet? Gosh, I even hate the taste of chocolate! My perfumes? WOW! Even my most beloved scents are nothing like they were. I have passed on all my heavy hitters and spicy orientals, one whiff and I am nauseated. So.....I gave this another shot. Funny thing, it blends very well now and has become one of the only scents I can tolerate. I find this anniversary edition to be very similar, even though it is listed as a new scent. If anything, it has a bit more apple in it and it has better lasting power.

Two things: this IS intense and it LASTS. It almost beat my amber perfume on the other wrist. It is also somewhat predominantly fruits + lavender + patch + musk on me. Apple & martini. Appletini. The patch is there somewhere, flirting with lavender, chaperoning the silly fruit. In the corner, a sulky musk who hates the limelight. This manages to be both whimsical and casually elegant at the same time. It's very happy, very versatile and has great performance. Cheap too. What more do you want?

I have and like a lot the fresh lavender notes of the original Lovely. It’s very uplifting, simple, nearly minimalist, and gives me an ultrafresh impulse, a springtime mood. I must add that’s the musky purple clean lavender is wonderful for migraine sufferers. But longevity was a little bit weak, so I decided to order this 10th birthday one. Very good idea, it’s my Lovely bottle with a perfect longevity, a tiny bit warmer, still on my skin after several hours. Adopted!

A clean & cosy fragrance. Something I put on after training when I spend the rest of the evening at home. Nice, but nothing special. Better suited for a younger audience IMO. I should have listened to my gut feeling before blind buying: The musk is too much for me, seems I have outgrown it at last.

Especially for the price, you cannot go wrong. It lasts even after several handwashes. Doesn't smell unique at all. Nothing that'll blow your mind. In fact smells along the realm of J'adore etc.

I really do love the original, and am also a huge fan or NR. After reading reviews here, I went on the hunt to find a bottle of this version. And I have to say that it's neither here nor there for me. I don't think there is anything particularly special about this version to warrant me buying another bottle. As with all SJP perfumes, it is good value for money though. If you manage to grab a bottle on the likes of eBay, don't pay more than 15 quid though.

I could never understand why Lovely was so popular . To me it was just a nice fragrance , but not imaginative at all . I read reviews at different sites and found raves for this version, and ordered it after finding a great deal . I often regret blind buys, but this blew me away ! It has the notes of the original , but is truly more intense. On top of that has an elegance I associate with Chanel Allure. The sillage and longevity are impressive, and this smells expensive and very well crafted. The best part is that it DOES smell like Narciso Rodriguez , but is a far better product because it has perfect projection and lasting power. ( I felt ripped off after buying that one.)To sum it up this is VERY VERY beautiful , and suitable for most occasions and settings. I am buying a backup bottle. I think this would be a perfume that would be a home run as a gift for a wide variety of women because it is classy, lasting and not trendy smelling . I really like the way the musk is gently blended into the floral notes. A GREAT PERFUME!

I’ve been keeping an eye out for this one and found it today and immediately purchased. Although not promoted as a different version of Lovely, sometimes these anniversary editions do vary a bit - the Fantasy Anniversary Edition being a recent example I did a side by side test card/skin comparison with my standard Lovely and they are identical, so no thrills there. However, I would recommend buying this one for the great bottle alone. It looks better in real life than it does in the pics. The pale pink chrome finish is really beautiful and I find myself admiring it each morning. If you’re in Australia this is available at Chemist Warehouse.

I previously owned the original version, but longevity was pretty bad. Lovely and Narciso's For Her are significantly different in my opinion, Lovely being much more aromatic and deep, as apposed to For Her being very floral and creamy. They are similar, but different. This version is much more intense and long-lasting, I definitely agree on that with many of the reviewers here. It's a perfected version of the original. The bottle is very beautiful too. Snatch this while you can people! Across Canada, you can find this at some Rexall pharmacies for 29.99.

I am honestly so on the fence with this fragrance. It is fine, and for its price point it doesn't smell cheap at all. I think it's just too powerful initially, then a few hours later it's completely gone. That, and I don't think that patchouli is a great scent for me (it's the patch that probably comes on too strong for me at first). If I wear it again, I would probably have to mix it with something much sweeter (like La Vie Est Belle, another one that I find generally too powerful) and see if they can duke out a more balanced scent between them.

I recently ran out of Lovely and decided to get the 10th Anniversary edition based on these reviews. It is in fact stronger and longer lasting. All the beauty of the original with an amped up salt note, almost briny like green olive juice. That briny note fades quickly and you are left with an incense/floral/wood/musk combo. After almost a decade, I never grow tired of Lovely.

I purchased this today, and opened it in the car!!! I had to see if my $29.99 was well spent. And yes it was. It's more intense. All of the things that made the original a best seller are present. It's been improved upon, in the best sense. Stronger for sure. If you loved the original, this is a sure thing.

I read jenniewebb's review and I have to say she's right. After wearing this to work a few times it is noticeably stronger with more of an emphasis on the musk. Not sure why I didn't feel this way when I did my side by side comparison. She's also right about the fingerprints!

Classy. Elegant. Understated. Always appropriate for any occasion, season and mood. I also love the original Lovely. This one is definitely the intense version of Lovely. My signature perfume since it came out. Thank you for reading.

Pleasant, clean, fresh and light with excellent projection and longevity, predominantly floral (although it's not listed in the notes I get a hint of lilac?)

Soft, clean, calm, relaxing and cosy. I like it more than the original. This one is very musky still with a lovely lavander.
