Lovely Lights

Beautiful unique bold. Cashmere and jasmine with a soft sexy woody top note. Very different than all the other Lovely editions. This is a node to SJP and her stint on Broadway. The “LIGHTS” word in Broadway style light lettering, the little “black bow” around the top is like that of a ladies tie while in the big show. It’s very tongue and cheek. The bottle seems almost like a plastic matte Easter egg. With a shiny gold topper. Not clear like all the other SJP Lovely. The scent is pure soft musky jasmine. With a beautiful cashmere and wood tone. A hint of citrus here and there. Not heavily citrus at all. However the dry down is a bit more clean and crispy. This would wear longer and better in the day than the evening but I’d say wear this at night in the cold temps. Day in the hot heat and get lots of compliments in closer intimate settings. For a bit of a kitschy rushed release this is actually a real winner. Another perfect stunner by SJP!

for me this is pretty, clean, and milky-sweet, like a citrusy cousin to milk musk edt from molton brown. I get a creaminess and a honey-orange spongecake effect (seriously, very like the aroma of the orange zest and wildflower honey cake i make in september) spiced with a light touch of sandalwood, followed by cozy, powdery musk. some ambrox and cashmeran musks do bother me and feel choke-y/oppressive, but molton brown's and now lovely's just feel fluffy, soft and enveloping. I do see the similarity to Allure, but this is much more soft, sort of like a whipped mousse homage lol, but it's also its own thing. lovely lights' cashmere-sandalwood feels more modern and muted than the 90s take on sandalwood. Longevity could be better though -- unless i'm going nose blind to the cashmeran idk.

Gorgeous fluffy feminine scent! Lasts pretty long for a skin scent. I think it's best suited for spring, but it's almost 40 degrees Celsius and it's great for summer too. This is a hug in a bottle (hate the bottle though).

Pretty bottle and very alluring scent. Absolutely love this, radiates beautifully. Prefer this more than the original lovely perfume, best fragrance in the collection ❤😍👍

I lucked up and scored a bottle of this for $25 on Mercari. Now, when I first saw the notes, I immediately thought this was going to be an unimpressive white floral/citrus fragrance, which shyed me away from buying for $50 price tag it was available for on Ebay. In the opening, i get a very pleasant Honeysuckle & Musk blend. There's a Cashmeran like accord that drapes this composition, as I can detect a hint of Gardenia. The Citrus was completely silent in this fragrance, but I'm not disappointed. The white florals & musk held their own. Lovely Lights is an easily likeable scent. It's not wowing, but it's very simple, unique, and pleasant. In the dry down, I'm left with a soft, Musky-Cashmeran blend. The longevity didn't really impress me. I got 3 hours on my skin with a intimate sillage. It doesn't radiate far from the skin, but people can smell it if they're close to you. Overall, I think this is a decent flanker to the Lovely line, but it's not worth the $80+ price tag some people are charging for it, which makes me glad I found it for $25. It's a pleasant fragrance for white floral fragrance lovers, but it doesn't have any wow factor. If you're interested in this fragrance, unless you're a SJP fan/collector, you may want to wait until this fragrance is more available and affordable. Thick white fog is my mental image for this fragrance. Tried it - found desirable - bought it. I’m not sure I would have liked this kind of scent in my earlier life, but I do now (and it’s also kind of novel for me, too). What I love about SJP is that buying smaller quantities does not mean paying a higher price per ml as with most other brands. I just paid AUD10 for 30ml! I do detect an animalic nuance in it if I’m paying attention. However, this smells like a facet found in honey, so I don’t have to think about anything gross. It lasts all day for me and sticks to clothes forever: I went away for five days, came back and could distinctly smell it on my winter loungewear top. It’s a safe option if you like white flowers and other components in the pyramid, such as musk and neroli.

Listen to me: I don't care for anyone's opinion nor comparison. This stands on its own and doesn't need anyone's justification for its livelyhood!!! Sharp "vintage" (powdery) opening fades and then you're dancing on clouds made up of Starbuck's whip cream and some exotic barely sweet liquor. Must be glorious at night as this softness will get me ready for sleep. I love it and compare her concoctions to be on the SAME LEVEL IF NOT BETTER THAN GUCCI!! Muah! Oh, I love it!

I like this scent. it's between fresh and seductive, which is a scent I'm looking for fall. Also, it reminds me about Narciso perfume. I notice that someone rate that this is similar to J'adore but it is not similar to J'adore at all because I also own J'adore. However, the sillage and longevity really disappointed me. It's disappeared in 2-3 hours. With their low price so I shouldn't hope it will last all day.

I agree with most other reviews. I like it, but it’s not a love. It’s powdery and I’m just not a powdery gal. There must be some orris or iris in there though it’s not listed. It’s ok, but a departure from the original dna. I agree, spring is the best season for this. It’s ok for a super casual errand running day but it doesn’t sing to me, so I’ll probably end up giving it away.

This is nice. It's much fresher and " younger" smelling than the original Lovely but it still has that musky, sophisticated base that keeps it inline with the original. You can get 30ml bottle for $10 in Australia which is not bad at all, especially for a scent that it's gourmand and sickly sweet. This is a solid 7/10. Easy to wear and feel put together.

In this I get more of a rounded clean milky type of perhaps coconut (without the sunscreen), a tinybtouch of sweet but this leans clean, rounded, floral but not flowery. There a couple in this line which aren't much on me but I'd give a thumbs up jn general to SJP for their efforts

To be honest, I was afraid to try it (I'm not a fan of gardenia) but I actually like it, it gives off a sweet, ripe, floral, fresh, light, sexy gardenia scent that is not heavy or strong. 8/10 (I'm not crazy about the bottle and it's not too strong, I mean it's an EDP).

Lovely Lights was a pleasant surprise. Not Quite Love but close enough. :) On my skin Lovely Lights dried down soft with just a hint of powder and musk but not in-your-face about it. Full bottle worthy for me for sure.

I enjoy this, especially as a bedtime scent. It’s more of a skin scent on me. A white floral powdery musky fragrance. Reminds me of Jovan White Musk with similar slightly retro feel. It is comforting and cozy.

Completely different from the original. I give it second place after born lovely which is really nice. That one is just ok, definitely flowery but also fresh. Has more in common with nyc than lovely.

Starts off fresh and orangey. Settles into a baby powdery hotel lobby sort of smell. A fancy hotel.

This is a perfume with a palpable texture. It's creamy florals but not in a gourmand way. The Neroli smells GREEN and retains that bitter edge I always get with Neroli (and occasionally orange blossom!) but the Honeysuckle lends a sweetness and along with the musk, comes up to meet the Neroli and turn this into an unusual and rather pretty scent. The closest I've smelt that shares a similar texture is Dolce Garden. The whole Dolce range has a piercing quality to me so I couldn't wear that one, but it smelt like white flowers and coconut yoghurt to me, plus a big dose of icing sugar. Lovely Lights doesn't have the same sharpness, nor the intense sweetness of Garden, but it does have a similar texture. Like sweetened crème fraiche coated white flowers and powdery woods. Possibly an odd thing to say but it's what this makes me think of! Same with Dolce Garden but that one was more like over sweetened yoghurt - both sickly and sour simultaneously! I like this one in cold weather despite not really enjoying Neroli!. I can get a hint of Allure (Benetton Hot is WAY more similar to Allure though!) and I think you could argue that they are in the same family, but this has a lot of bitter neroli in it and way less jasmine than Allure so it changes the feel of that profile a bit. Lovely Lights also has a dominant Cashmere wood that feels texturally different to the sandalwood in Allure, but I think you could argue that Lovely Lights is a slightly more modern, lighter and less perfumy version of Allure. It's a fab little cheapy!

It can smell a little overwhelming at first - it can be quite strong & headache inducing as others have commented, but it then eases off within the first hour of wearing. I can smell the gardenia & musk & cashmere initially - there's a big hit. To me, it smells like a beautiful, soft powdery smell up front, which I adore, but there is something that gives me an inital headache too. The initial strength does settle down to a more subdued & settled smell over an hour or so. I find that SJP Lovely Lights is an occasional wear for me, a nice addition to my other powdery perfumes (I love a good powdery-smelling fragrance) but certainly not an everyday go-to.

Powerful opening, but in a poisonous plant kind of way. All the notes are ones I should like but it’s a tad bitter for me. Fades to / generic moisturiser/sunscreen scent. Fun blind buy because of the price but not something I will wear.

Disappointingly weak and uninteresting IMO compared to any others in the line. While it’s pleasant enough, it’s a simplistic floral musk that evaporates so quickly that it’s quite linear. Not a great blind buy.

I found this pretty boring & non distinctive! A pretty Soft floral musk, but quite weak. A pass for me! I'll use it for my sheets and towels!

This appeared at roughly the same time as And Just Like That and is just equally awkward and unnecessary as the show, compared to the original. As a huge fan of the OG, I was thrilled to secure 30ml for under £10, but it's all downhill from there. At first sniff, Lovely Lights is a sweet, unrefined floral that you smelled a thousand times as a kid testing the supermarket stuff. Before washing it off, I decided to compare it against Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia, but was immediately overpowered and nausiated by the experience. Yes, Lovely Lights is indeed reminiscent of the Gucci Flora but sweeter and creamier. I guess they could be layered to create an interplay between the sharp and creamy interpretations, but only if you **really** love gardeni& jasmine and find no amount of the combo cloying or overbearing. I wash off the Gucci Flora and go back to the Lovely Lights wrist. The dry down is a sweet creamy musk, not terribly off putting, but still unoriginal and unrefind. The whole thing lasts longer on my skin than what other people have found, persisting even after washing my wrists with soap. Layering JHAG Not a Perfume over that residual dry down smelled nice, so I may keep my bottle for that, although it's more likely that I swap it or pass it on.

We can all appreciate an old school scent but this is just straight up grandma to me (no offense to grandma), you guys get what I mean... My best friend has been wearing the OG Lovely for years and even she dislikes this one. I’ve always had issues with Sarah Jessica Parkers fragrances but I actually really enjoy Born Lovely. It’s so much ”prettier” than the other once, in my opinion. Gonna get myself a bottle of that one for sure! EDIT: Someone said ”vintage powdery” and I couldn’t agree more!

Not her best. It’s straight up neroli! If you love neroli you’ll love this fragrance, it’s very photorealistic. Like rubbing an orange leaf on your skin. It’s not well blended at all. It’s all neroli and then dirty musk that smells stale. It’s not powdery to my nose. I can’t smell the white florals. It’s a bit of a nothing scent to be honest.

Initial spray is sharp and headache inducing. After it dries down it smells like baby power. I don't hate it, but I won't be wearing it. I ordered a bottle of lovely for nostalgic reasons, and the company sent me this one instead. It's too much of a hassle to return it, so it's going to be resold or gifted. Rate- 3.5/10

This is a very pretty, soft fragrance that does have a milky quality, but the cashmeran is killing it for me. It is so overwhelmingly strong I can almost taste it. Yuck! Unlike some, I don't dislike that note, but the way it is overused here is definitely turning me off to this scent.

This is very nice. The Neroli is up front and centre upon first spray in this version of lovely. It actually reminded me of Jennifer Lopez glow the original in the way it was very floral and fresh. It almost had a slightly soapy feel to it as well. This has a more floral feel to it than the original. It’s actually quite a different to the original but still very nice. You definitely get the Musk dry down that all the others have as it settles but it starts off very different. It’s quite potent and strong feeling at first but settles down very quickly into a soft skin scent, doesn’t last too long but still around the same amount of time as all the others. Another lovely fragrance from Sarah Jessica Parker and I definitely recommend. Edit.... So I just looked up the notes on Jennifer Lopez glow and it too has the Neroli in the top notes. This is why I’m reminded of it and both have prominent neroli on first spray. Glow also has a clean musk on dry down but glow ends up smelling slightly more clean where lovely lights is a bit more musky floral but I feel if you like one you will enjoy the other I hope this helps someone.

SJP seems to be on a never-ending question to repeat the success of the original Lovely. Each year we get a new version, and they're all average and ho-hum. Lovely Lights proves the rule. It's an okay, musky, floral scent that reminds me a lot of Jovan musk, except the lasting power is not nearly as good. The bottle is very cute but somehow doesn't quite work. Overall, it's not bad, but not good. I'll buy a bottle when the price drops because I do like a musky scent and they really don't release many nowadays. This was made to coincide with her Broadway show Plaza Suite, and the font and black tie reference this. I thought it was really interesting she did almost no publicity and product pushing during the run of the awful SATC reboot "And just like that". I really think that show did a lot of damage to her fashion and beauty icon credentials, but she must be getting paid a bag because Season 2 is on its way.

Little and often.. this isn’t one that you want to overspray I wasn’t sold at the initial first spritz, something synthetic like tuberose just jumped out at me. Let it settle. Let the cashmeran envelope you and the powerdery notes tuck you in. I think this is a very chic and grown up perfume but also very gentle. It dries down to a beautiful floral suede comforter, that is not too dissimilar to Narciso but a lot less cloying. My great aunt used to wear only two perfumes, Chanel Allure and SJP lovely. This perfume has created the most wonderful loving memory for me it’s a complete hybrid. It’s Allure without the peach and Lovely without the Patchouli. Kind of how I imagine a prima ballerina would smell. I paid £6 for this little gem it’s an absolute steal.

I'm not a fan of the original SJP Lovely, because of its really sour and weird opening, which spoils that otherwise good dupe to Guerlain Idylle. However, this version is quite different from the OG. The opening is sweeter than I expected, dominated by mandarin orange and amber, but then it develops into a creamy white floral. The individual notes are hard to discern except for cashmeran, which gives this scent a fluffy, cosy quality. It's a bit generic and predictable, but very pleasant nevertheless, and lasts 5-6 hours, which is more than okay for a drugstore cheapie. I'm surprised that Lovely Lights isn't more popular, given its affordable price and wide availability.

If you poured equal parts Chanel Allure, DKNY Cashmere Mist and Narciso (white bottle) into a bottle you would get this but just not as strong but I don't mind reapplying considering the low price. It is actually very 'Lovely' infact it has knocked the classic out of my collection as my new fave SJP scent now that Covet and Lovely have been destroyed by reformulation recently. It is incredibly wearable for casual events, around those who do not tolerate stronger fragrances or popping down to the supermarket or to a medical appointment. The creamy enjoyable white floral cheapie that everyone needs in their collection.

I liked it when I first bought it, but a tad too green, and didn’t last particularly long. It was a tester, cheap & cheerful, ok for just a like. But after being forgotten at the back of a cupboard for a year or so, it’s So lovely! It’s rounder, fuller, and takes its time settling and shifting. The base note blend is lingering hours later with a shimmer of top notes drifting up from time to time. My skin does love powders/big white florals/ambers. I really like the bottles in this range, nice weight to them. If the feeling is just a meh, let her rest, give her space sweetie. xo

I would have never picked a SJP fragrance for myself but I received a bottle as a Christmas present, so as a lover of fragrances I'll happily receive anything and give it a go. I sprayed some on my hand Christmas morning. Upon first sniff I did get the cigarette smell. I washed it off, worried that I'd end up smelling of cigarettes every time I'd wear it. 2 days later, I'm trying it out. It has the slightest ashy undertones but floral muskiness. I find it has faded away quickly. Maybe I should wear it on clothes, or in my hair. Let's see!

I think this is really nice, a lovely creamy white floral with plenty of neroli (one of my favourite notes) and a good dose of musk, so right up my ally. Lovely powdery musk and floral dry down. I think it’s beautiful. I’m not sure why this seems unpopular here but perhaps it didn’t get enough hype or advertising. You can’t go wrong with a Sarah Jessica Parker perfume in my opinion they are all well done and smell amazing with the exception of ‘born lovely’ which really wasn’t my taste.

By far the worst from SJP, even worse than Lovely You which was straight up J&J baby powder. Opens with a blast of bitter neroli and dries down to a barely detectable sweet floral which is gone within 2 hours. I was expecting something similar to Lovely Sheer (which is gorgeous) but this is such a failure. I did about 5 sprays in total to the back of my hand and wrist at 2:30pm and by 4:30 I could smell nothing at all. Come on SJP you can do better than this!

A lovely friend of mine suggested this to me because they thought I'd like it (and because I had every other Lovely available). They were right! This has a LOT in common with Lovely You ... the nail polish remover aspect, made beautiful. This is just walking past a nail salon as a kid bottled and I love it, I love that smell. You apparently can't buy memories like that but I think sometimes you can.

Really wanted to like this but like another member has mentioned here in the comments; the Cashmeran takes over and it's just way too much and it's possible that the synthetic musk adds to this overwhelming, cloying smokiness that I get. So unfortunately I can't detect anything else. Such a shame as I adore Lovely 🌹 Maybe in time, I'll revisit it and see if I can acclimatise to it.

Found a lonely bottle sitting in the clearance section of tjMaxx and had to try it since I like the original lovely. Opens with milky florals and a touch of powder. Reminds me of a VS scent I once had called Glamour around 2014. After a few minutes a murky undercurrent emerges something like cigarette ashes. Oh my, SJP has made some nice scents but this one not one of them.

Picked this up for $10 for 30mls. Neroli is obvious at opening, underpinned by a creamy (some would say soapy) accord. Very pleasant, and more interesting than other Lovely flankers in recent years. But blink and you miss it, this fragrance is so shortlived. Bottle is tacky. Can't complain for the price I guess, but the original is still the best by a country mile.

Lovely, as others have said. I find this lasts a day on clothes. I think the "cigarettes" note a few people are reporting is more of a slight black pepper note. Tobacco, pepper and smoke are not included in the notes list. I like the sweetness of the flowers. Definitely an orange blossom note. Soft, pretty, easy to wear. Musk projects through the flowers.

For the price it’s om - reminds me of creamy neroli, white flowers and cigarettes. I layer it with Burberry Brit sheer on my clothes Longevity isn’t spectacular so it’s a great layering fragrance and I love it for that. Has plenty to offer in that regard. Try before you buy.

Watered down version of Allure from Chanel but lacking projection and longevity. I thought it could be good every day replacement but unfortunately the low quality of ingredients is pretty obvious. The bottle is stunning 🤩

Creamy, milky, wrapping around you like a soft, cozy cashmere scarf. I like it but don't think the $50 price I paid for it at Walgreens is worth it (currently Walgreens is the only place that carries it).

It’s very different from Lovely. This is creamy white florals and musky sweetness. Cashmere sweaters and pastel colours come to mind. Doesn’t seem to last long however. It is disappointingly weak.

I actually love this one and I’m a guy. It’s a soft peppery scent. It’s subtle which i love but you can smell it for a while on your skin. The sprayer is great on this too. Cute bottle.

I'm down sizing my fragrance, and to my surprise this one is 100% staying in there. It's absolutely stunning. Like a hug. Worth a try if you don't mind synthetic floral fragrances.

smells like terrible hairspray. the neroli chokes me out. never really like sjp frags much but this takes the cake
