Lovely

Way more interesting than it gets credit for. This is a sweet ambery golden fragrance with a soapy freshness to it. The bottle is classic, but would match the fragrance a little better with a golden gradient towards the bottom. I do love the modern vintage look and feel of the bottle, however. And in that sense, it matches perfectly. This is a modern take on a vintage profile and it’s done exceptionally. Now, to address the loud and overbearing elephants in the room. This fragrance has moved from production to what I like to call “fragrance syndication”. It is a celebrity fragrance that held designer prestige at one point, but is now on cheapie shelves. Expect this to have a formulation that makes sense for its price point, please. Yes, you may get a blast of alcohol in the opening, especially first spray out of the box. Yes, you may experience varied performance, especially when you first receive it. Give it time to blossom. And let’s stop expecting $200 value from a $20 fragrance🫠 With that out of the way, Lovely is well named. The lavender martini in the opening feels posh and relaxed. The patchouli is clean and sweet and brings a richness to this fragrance. The base is grounding, full and fluid...like liquid gold. This is the perfect balance of clean and deep and is signature worthy for the quiet power femme. Compared to Lazy Sunday Morning: trade the dry aldehydes in LSM for sweet amber. Compared to Cleopatra: very similar scents, Lovely takes the cake due to performance and depth... This isn’t even a hard decision. Throw price into the ring too while you’re at it. Compared to the Narcisos: the placement and quantity of patchouli in keeps it lighter, much less suffocating. I find Lovely to be much nicer. In all, 8/10 for day one.

I don't know what happened to my original review. Lovely is a beautiful floral woody musk that I’ve worn for years, and it’s truly one of my all-time favorites. I switch fragrances often depending on my mood or the season, but if I had a signature scent, this would be it. I reach for it frequently, and it works effortlessly for almost any occasion, day or night. At this point, a lot of people associate this fragrance with me, it really feels like my scent. It’s feminine, elegant, sophisticated, and subtly sexy. It leans more mature, making it ideal for someone who appreciates a more refined fragrance rather than sweet youthful fragrances. I wouldn’t imagine this on someone very young. The first time I tried it, I was unsure about the opening, it can feel a bit classic, dated, or too “perfumey". But once it settles, it transforms into a soft, clean, and classy fragrance, revealing how beautiful it really is. You have to give this one time to bloom. The name fits perfectly it’s genuinely lovely. It reminds me of Narciso Rodriguez for Her, especially in the dry-down, though it’s not an exact dupe. It's like a blend of NR For Her EDT (black bottle) and the EDP (pink bottle). On my skin, they develop into a very similar scent, I love them both. I wear this year-round and enjoy layering it underneath vanilla, chocolate, or sandalwood fragrances to add warmth and depth. That extra touch adds richness, making it perfectly adaptable to any season. It’s clean, timeless, and effortlessly classy, sophisticated yet very sexy. It always gets me compliments. This is also very suitable for professional environments. This is a fragrance that makes you feel polished and put together without trying too hard. 9/10 Sillage 7/10 Longevity 7/10

I just tried this on my wrist in Superdrug today whilst shopping with my mother. I have passed this bottle a million times and I assumed it was going to smell like J'Adore by Dior for some reason as it has the same shaped bottle (crazy associative thought I know). Not to say I don't like J'Adore but I just judged a perfume by it's bottle and assumed it to be nothing special as I am usually drawn to niche or unusual fragrances or the classics. Having said that one of my all time favourites is Tommy Girl which is one of the best deceptively simple and clean fragrances going! This was a silly prejudice seeing as I have liked all the SJP fragrances I have tried (I have owned two bottles of NYC and also have Stash). So I absent mindedly put this on and have been sniffing my wrist happily ever since and now looking to buy! A first spritz I got candied fruit or more accurately that unmistakable smell of pear drops from newly applied nail polish. When this started to dry down I could smell a warm and welcoming hug of a perfume, clean and feminine and so comforting to be surrounded by. Funnily enough it does remind me of J'Adore but not as heavy, musky and cloying as J'Adore can be. Another fragrance it reminds me of is Al Haramain Orientica Elegance which was my first review on here! Maybe my quest for unusual perfumes is now drawing to a close and I am now hankering after easy to wear femininely pretty perfumes after all! Edit: quirky interest is added to this very pretty feminine perfume by a 'briney' pickle note which smells a lot like an olive in a Martini cocktail. This same left field note is also found in SJP's Stash though in the latter it is paired with coconut.

Wow, I was not expecting to love Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker as much as I did! After being recommended Lovely and then finding it at Shopper's Drug Mart for 19.99, it felt like a sign that I must try it, and I am beyond thrilled I did! Lovely quickly became my bedtime scent as it creates this "you but better" effect on the skin, much like Glossier's You, but where Glossier can take on a slightly dirty scent on me, Lovely always feels effortless, fresh, clean, and complex, but not overly complex. In the earlier spring, I was travelling and decided to leave my bottle at home, but I missed having it in my evening routine, so I purchased the Lovely Body Mist for around 12 USD; it is alright, but there is something slightly harsh in the initial spray; however, it is magnificent for misting on my pyjamas! Since returning home, I have loved layering Lovely EDP over Bath & Body Works Moonlight Path Body Cream and using the Lovely Body Mist on my pyjamas. No words can explain how comforting the scent experience is as I drift off to sleep! Sadly, I finished my bottle of Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker last night; however, as soon as I finish up a few more bedtime perfumes in my collection, Lovely is at the top of the list to repurchase! If you love scents like Narcisco Rodriguez for Her EDT, Glossier You, or The Body Shop White Musk, I think you will enjoy Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker! Side Note: I also own Born Lovely, and there are some similarities to Lovely, but Born Lovely feels more spring/summer, whereas Lovely might feel more appropriate for autumn/winter.

My signature because it's affordable and yet wonderful quality. I pray Lovely never goes out or is discontinued as I will be quite sad. As a side note, SJP perfumes in GENERAL are all masterfully crafted and well blended delights. Everyone will have different opinions of course but for me I adore SJP fragrances and Lovely is no exception. I see the reviews saying it smells like bug spray and I can't lie, at times it does. This perfume is weird. Sometimes I get a powerful blast of that bug spray feel upon initial sprays. Other times I don't get it. I'm not sure what's going on there but with this perfume you're not spraying it for the initial blast/top notes (At least I'm not). For me I adore the heart and dry down of Lovely. It's one of the cleanest, distinctly-feminine leaning patchouli musks. Masterfully blended and just gorgeous. I spray my clothes with it and do a small spritz on each wrist, sometimes layered with skin musk, egyptian musk or patchouli depending on what I'm feeling and it works with all of them. I'm always told I smell like a cozy mom and I love that. That's me that's what I'm going for. I want to smell like a clean, mature woman that people can hug and feel comfort in and Lovely does just that. I never get told I smell like a bug spray mess. That is probably from overspraying and the initial spritz, trust me, give it a few trial wears and learn to adore the heart notes and dry down and you will come to appreciate Lovely for what it is: an affordable and amazingly crafted gem. Truly lovely! 💗

20. january 2013 LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! I see this one as one of THE best celebrity perfumes EVER! And not because it is a very close copy of Narcisco Rodriguez, just softer, but because it is very outstanding! Outstanding from the hundreds of other celebrity fragrances which are always described as sexy, for confident woman, statement and in fact they are most of the time nothing of all that! This in contrary is not a mainstream celebrity fume. Amazing blend of musk, lavender and patchouli! Orchid and martini accord just makes this perfection even more perfect. Everything about this fragrance is in absolute harmony: tha name, the bottle, the advertising!!! And the price is a great harmony for our wallet. For this price i can bath in it, but i don ́t have to. It has a good sillage and lasting power, and work amazingly good during the colder period of the year when it keeps my mind clear and also during the warm period of the year when it just calms me down. So this is a total winner for me! All year round perfume! Sounds great? It smells also great! I don ́t see it as a grandma perfume, or something for an older ladies. It fits everyone! Just a matter of attitude. Very confident and simply lovely! I do think i need to buy as much as possible, so i will probably never run out of it. In fact i just realized that it indeed reminds me of a glass ice cold Martini! Mmmmmmm, yummy!

The initial hit is identical to Narciso For Her EDT (the black bottle and my long time favourite), but the martini and lavender quickly turn this into something much more transparent and straightforward, despite having way more notes. Though I have both original For Hers I added Lovely to my wardrobe now because it was low risk (smells familiar, small bottle, very cheap) and it’s heading into summer when the For Her musk might read cloying or too bold in the day. Lovely definitely feels like the little sister of For Her even though it’s an older scent. Where the Narciso musk is a bit sweaty, very sexy and knowing, the musk in Lovely is freshly washed and never had a thought in its head. As for performance it turns to skin scent almost immediately and is the only perfume I’ve needed more than 2 sprays of, it disappears quickly. I layered it with Narciso Musk Noir and it added a freshness that was eventually overpowered, but it’s a great way to add lavender to the OG For Hers! By itself it’s a bright and fresh version of For Her EDT for when you don’t want to project any sexiness at all.

I purchased this when it was first released at Nordstrom in San Francisco. They had a entire wall display of this gorgeous scent and I had to have it! I’ve worn this on and off since then! I keep it in my collection at all times, as well as several flankers! SJP has managed to make some outstanding scents at a great price point that smell expensive! This is a gorgeous musky floral that any classy women would love! I find it to have great sillage and longevity! Yes, it smells remarkably similar to NR for her! I have mistaken one for the other more than once! 12/3- I haven’t worn this in a while as I’ve been busy trying out all my other fragrances! Wore it today and wow!! I am still head over heels for this fragrance! It is just as gorgeous as I remember! I love everything about it. It’s definitely signature scent worthy, and appropriate for any season! I wore this a lot for many years. I’m still not remotely sick of it!

Wooh, this is amazing! It's like sipping a martini near a lavender field...where the field is far enough away, and you get that warm soothing lingering scent in the air, the lavender doesn't overpower or isnt screechy, thank god....The citrusy bergamot in it almost make it a little gourmand. Like i really wouldnt mind that martini right now please! This is beautiful, it's sophisticated, feminine, soft but a little spicy as well(not a pushover scent) and makes me feel elegant & like a million bucks. Lovely for spring and summer. I'm super sceptical of tiktok perfume recs, but they weren't kidding with this one. So happy I got this and I def recommend it. I think this could go for all ages, but stay away from it if you are more like a very sweet (foody) gourmand only girl or (spicy) oriental heavy fragances only person, this might not be it for you. Longevity is about 5 hours maybe 6 on my skin, not bad either. 9,5/10! 💖

I bought my first 50ml bottle of SJP Lovely back in April 2022. It was a blind buy, not very risky because I ended up paying only 13 euros for it. I wasn't expecting much when I first smelled it, and found it very meh 😕. Oh...another Floral and mature leaning one, not my vibe blablabla. How wrooong I was 🤦♀️ Two weeks later I tried it again, this time before going to bed. Never went back after smelling my pyjamas in the morning!! The dry down on this perfume is the perfect clean linen laundry dryer sheets scent to my nose !! Ended up spraying my pillows, mattress, sheets like a crazy perfume lady every night and also spraying my drying rack any time I did laundry... Soooo back to now, I just bought another bottle, this time the 200ml ginormous bottle for 21 euros...yeah. And I use it as previously mentioned, spraying almost every textile surface in my apartment 😄! Love the scent, find it very soothing, recommend 100%

What a great little find! I wanted to add a NR-type musk to my collection but sadly both his EDT and EDP turned sour on me for some reason. I don't know what note it is but it doesn't agree with me. I decided to blind buy this and it's very nice! Pretty, light musk. Not nearly as sharp at NR, just pretty and feminine. Again, very clean girl if that's what you like. I wear this on days where I just want to feel fresh or wearing a stronger perfume would be inappropriate. I also mix this with a similar 'light' rose perfume from Bulgari. I bought this in Canada for around $17 on sale, what a deal. One thing I don't like is that the bottle doesn't allow the nozzle to come off so you can decant into a travel size and the longevity isn't great. So keep that in mind if you're someone who likes to touch up throughout the day.

I started wearing this last year and it has become one of my favourite fragrances. Opens with citrusy notes which are a little too strong (must be the Bergamot?) but soon settles into an elegant, musky, woody aroma. There is a subtle sweetness that stops the scent from being too ‘smokey’. I’m quite surprised by all the votes for this being a spring time fragrance. I think its cosy woodiness is better suited to the autumn, although it can be worn all year. Not really sure about the ‘mature’ comments, although I’m 38 which might put me in the mature category! The scent is grown up but not ‘old ladyish’. Edit: Sadly, I’m having to give this one up as I’ve started to notice it triggers a headache whenever I wear it. I’m quite sad as it’s a lovely perfume at an excellent price point. 🙁

lovely was on my mom's perfume tray when i was little, and despite being the most affordable among no. 5, bvlgari pour femme, and others, it was the most intoxicating fragrance in her collection. it's one of those scents where when i remember it exists, i can't help but get up and smell my bottle. definitely a refined profile, but it doesn't read as mature to me as many have remarked. there is such a soft innocence and freshness that also gives it a beautiful youthfulness for me. this should also be given more credit as a nighttime/date night or even cool-weather scent. it's romantic, cozy, sparkly, and boozy like champagne. forever in my rotation. so timeless, so feminine, so shy. so lovely.

It's a floral, musky perfume, super versatile and feminine, while also being beautifully bright, elegant, sophisticated, and subtly sensual, with a more mature and refined touch. It opens with notes of martini and a sweet tangerine. Soon after, the perfume evolves into a blend of lavender and patchouli, and in its dry down comes a delicious and very soft woody musk. The evolution of the perfume is smooth, clean, and graceful. The name Lovely perfectly matches the fragrance, as it is truly enchanting. And I'm quite surprised by the similarity between Lovely and Narciso Rodriguez For Her. I loved this perfume. A fresh, feminine, musky, and sophisticated perfume.

I’ve been eyeing Velvet Haze by Byredo for the longest time, and recently found out that it was discontinued. Imagine my surprise when I sprayed this cheapie on a paper strip today in the store and turns out it’s like the same thing! Well, maybe not identical, but good enough for me anyways. LOVELY Edit: I have like 0.7 ml sample of Velvet Haze at home so I immediately compared the two when I had the chance. Well, Lovely is less creamy and misses that initial coconut blast that made Velvet Haze so special to me... But still, for the price and the mere fact that Lovely is easy to find, it hits the spot for me

Wow this is excellent! An effortless and timeless clean-girl scent. Its your-skin-but-better more sweetly fresh, without being a laundry scent. Its airy, light and perfectly balanced, like a gorgeous spring day. The lavender notes to me read more dried lavender but its not dusty or powdery, the orchid and woods bring soft sweetness and the apple martini gives a slightly edgy sheen. Together its an addicting and soothing skin scent. I picked up the tiny bottle of Eau de Parfum for $9.99 AUD as there was no tester and I did not expect to like it this much. Definitely going to go for a full size.

Many congratulations and Happy 20th Anniversary to Sarah Jessica Parker on the succesz of her first fragrance "Lovely". It is a modern/contemporary masterpiece. High quality ingredients, beautifully packaged bottle etc excellent advertising campaign starring SJP and her voice. Very romantic & feminine. This is always in my fragrance wardrobe. Eau de parfum fantastic vfm. Notes as listed above in previous reviews. Classy, understated, yet gorgeous, sexy, intimate and very affordable for a large 100ml bottle. Very similar to Narsico Rodriguez. I love it ❤️ Highly recommended.

I read the reviews on here about SJP Lovely and thought if I ever come across a bottle in the budget aisle I'll take a chance. It was a blind buy and I trust the reviews on here and am I ever glad I did. Soft and elegant with a soft floral muskiness and lavender but not sharp to the nose. I can see this becoming a daily go to, just refined and ladylike. I don't get the "gramma" smell some said they noted. I just smell clear notes of lavender, floral, soft musk and bergamot. Extremely well balanced. One of my new faves - thank you SJP.

I've been wanting to purchase Narciso Rodriguez's perfume for the longest time but I found it to be a bit pricey in my local shops. But then I read the reviews that SJP's Lovely smells quite similar. So I tried it on my skin today and the reviews were very accurate!!! So similar to NR's perfume. Gorgeous!!! I absolutely love this scent and I think I might even like it better than the NR perfume! So much cheaper too! This will be my next purchase :)

This was my signature fragrance in high school. For that reason, my memories of it are very precious to me. It was the first perfume I really loved and now that I have tried so many scents, I know why I loved it so much. In that special time when a young girl was finding herself, it made me feel feminine. But it has the musk and woody notes that I continue to reach for the older I get. I think I might need to get a new bottle for nostalgia's sake.

What a find! This is a light musk with luminous florals and a very clean patchouli. It’s quite similar to Narciso Rodriguez for Her, a fragrance I loved in my early 20s but wasn’t wiling to purchase due to my budget. This isn’t a 1:1, but it’s definitely close enough to satisfy that craving. The only disappointment is that this doesn’t project much. That can be a good thing for smaller spaces, the office, possibly even the gym.

I'll always come back to this as an 'every day' perfume when I don't want to think about reaching for a bottle to spray. It is soft, comforting and very clean. My nan also wears this, I think the scent is somewhat ageless, especially if you like musky, softer 'skin' scents. I wear many other perfumes day to day but always have to have a bottle of Lovely in my collection.

My sister and I tested this very recently and I have noticed her skins warms up fragrances whilst mine keeps it cool On her up close this was like a toilet freshener and the bubble trail reminded me of Santal 33 On me it’s the same scent up close as the trail and it’s more musky and clean, a little bit like Elie Saab Le Parfum (the original one)

A fragrance that women love or hate. I love it ... but didn't to start with. It's a shock at first spray, (I found), but as it settles it becomes something unique, musky, a bit spicy, inoffensive & clean. I can't imagine the very young or very elderly liking or wearing it & I prefer the original to the other versions of 'Lovely'.

I tried on a version of this with glitter in the bottle. It was great because you could spray it all over and use it like body glitter, but I can't find that version for sale anywhere. Anyways, this smells very fresh and comforting, it kind of reminds me of the smell of green tea and I can smell narcissus/daffodil note too.

I love this perfume. Had a bottle when it just came out and repurchased it some months ago. It’s sweet, fresh, feminine, musky and a compliment getter. Not offensive for the office. But at the same time it’s great for a night out, date... it’s sexy and elevated at the same time.

A fave of mine. Good little work wear perfume get lots of compliments when wearing this. I dont normally go for celeb perfumes but this one packs a punch on me. Lavender boozy mix with fresh floaty florals and a powder bomb drydown. Sooo feminine and nice. Always pick one up 🥰

My mum's worn this for ages and I love it too. It's feminine, floral, woody and light - I really like the lavender note! Just a simple fragrance, nostalgic and timeless, perfect for everyday. Maybe it's not extremely long lasting but works well for me and my mum.

This is my latest fave musky perfume linger so good in clothes and I can still smell it till the next day. So cheap that you can buy 6 oz less than 30$ in Tiktok. My husband says that he can still smell me even when Im not around, maybe a good scent memory.

One of my all-time favorite scents. I got this as a gift when I was in my early twenties and I have worn it religiously since then. It feels timeless and effortless. Woody and floral, ageless and cozy. I never tire of smelling it and I hope I never do.

a sweet, delicate fairy. aromatic and whimsical, as her essence, dancing with the scent of surrounding rosewood shrubs, the musk of the mystical forest. subtly perfume-y, femme, sharper as oppose to fluffy and cushioned. drydown is gorgeously animalic

It may be the power of suggestion from reading the notes, but I get a lot of vermouth-y herbalness. It's almost like a fougiere without the powder. I love putting the body mist on before bed or after a shower, but it's classic enough to wear anywhere.

To an untrained nose, this is basically another Lazy Sunday Morning and NR For Her. It's just a bit sour compared to LSM and NR. It might feel a bit artificial, but its insanely cheap for a good perfume with decent longevity so I'd say it's worth it.

A very nice fragrance, mellow and fresh, crisp and light but not sunny. It definitely falls under the category of office-appropriate and inoffensive. I also really enjoy the shape of the bottle. It’s a great addition to any easy-wear collection.

This is such a pretty soft musk with a touch of bergamot. It smells incredible on my skin with great projection ands sillage (I only spray two times on each wrist). It smells expensive and ladylike. It’s very lovely.

This is smooth, simple, and cozy luxury in a bottle. For what, $20? I bought a three pack on and plan to gift one to my mother in law. I love to spray it on my pillow and fall asleep in its divine cloud.

Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker is amazing! It reminds me so much of Narciso for Her EDT which is my signature scent. I just wish it lasted longer, but for the price, I honestly don’t mind reapplying.

It's one of my favorite perfumes. For some reason, I can smell it much more on my hair whenever I wear it

The first time I tried on Lovely, I wrote it off as a cheap, skin scent rip-off of Narciso for Her, but my relationship to it changed fast. When I contemplated giving my sample away in a swap, I found myself clinging to it, not wanting to let go for some reason. It didn't take long for me to start reaching for Lovely far more often than I wear Narciso for Her, and I think that's for a couple of reasons, first being: it's just so easy to wear . It was one of the first skin scents that made me understand skin scents, because I think a lot of the most popular perfumes in that category are pretty imperceptible. I'd try on something like Not a Perfume and not really be able to smell it myself, thus wondering what the point was of me even wearing it. I wouldn't understand people raving about those kinds of scents, saying things like, "It's just for me— it's not for anyone else." But Lovely fits that bill perfectly, because it is kind of a thin blanket that I for sure can notice, but isn't going to necessarily be noticeable by others, and it likely won't give anyone a headache. In an increasingly ableist world where plenty of people respond to perfume with discomfort, the kind of compassion I sense in Lovely's throw is very admirable. It's polite. (Definitely a Libra.) And all of the above is nice about Lovely, but something else about it excites me a little, and I was surprised to get there. When I reviewed its classic, arguable point of inspiration, Narciso for Her, I called it "clean sheets on date night." Narciso for Her is what the aspirationally beautiful woman in a hot (straight, unfortunately), well-to-do couple wears for her anniversary date, and what she reapplies before sex, envisioning it as a perfectly orchestrated romantic performance— something that would look great on camera. After sex that was much messier, emotional, and more human than she'd expected, her perfume has faded and blended with the scent of sweat to become something different. Lovely smells like pillow talk, the vulnerability that follows sex, especially with someone you love. It makes me imagine the thoughts a safe, loving partner would be having in this pillow talk: seeing her hair loose, and her makeup faded, and inhaling that lingering, slightly tampered Narciso smell, and thinking This is the woman I love. If Narciso smells like some kind of promise of sex, Lovely smells like the afterglow of a promise fulfilled. The woman of Narciso is put together, elegant, and definitely sociable, but there's a tension beneath her skin, a control she ultimately hopes to maintain. Lovely is that same woman with her hair down, comfortable in her skin, a little more at home with the things she'd otherwise try to hide. Narciso is lingerie on a shelf in a nice store, or wrapped in the tissue paper of a shopping bag. It's untouched, and perfect, but pointless, because it hasn't fulfilled its purpose. Lovely is the same lingerie under clothes, picking up the sweat of an active night, no longer concerned with being perfect. It's that same lingerie on the floor of a bedroom, or in a hamper. It's been given shape by the dirt of life. To keep the metaphor going one more time, Narciso is the perfectly styled doll in a box, looking beautiful on a shelf and accumulating worth for its pristine condition. Lovely is that same doll out of the box, with her hair a little mussed up, and her accessories scattered around a bedroom or house, priceless for the joy she's provided, and the love her owner feels for her. Lovely might've studied someone else to become who she is, and made the cheap move of following a formula with proven success, but Lovely seems happier than Narciso. Sweat is the vital ingredient that separates the two of them. I thought it was a little repulsive at first, that it was a reason to argue for Narciso's superiority, but it adds that sex, that life, that I feel like is missing from Narciso. I love the sincere humanity I pick up from that musk, and I think it's why this might be my favorite skin scent. It's polite, but not waiting for an identity (like Not a Perfume or You) or controlled (like Narciso). Lovely is alive. She's not afraid to buy perfume at a drugstore, and probably doesn't even think twice to be ashamed of doing it. And maybe, in the end, these oft-compared counterparts are just two sides of the same person, or idea: the put-together fantasy of the feminine self (Narciso) vs. the honest reality, beautiful for all its flaws (Lovely). The truth of the latter is what makes me keep coming back for it.

This is really nice. It's extremely clean, citrusy florals on a musky woody base. I see that lavender is high up on the accords but I really don't get it at all. It's just more lightly aromatic, fresh and clean. It's a nice one to apply after a shower, before bed, or just in spring and summer in the daytime when you want to smell clean and put together. I could recognise it anywhere it's such a distinctive fragrance. Compared to Narciso For Hers, it's much much lighter and brighter without the deep and sensual seductive musk, but they are very similar. You could definitely be forgiven for mistaking them from a scent trail but if you smell them together and compare, both Narcisos are much more seductive, sexy and deep. This is a clean musk, fresh, light, aromatic and almost watery in comparison. The bottle is very sweet and simple and the colour of the scent is perfect. I think it suits adult women of any age, but it wouldn't have been my first choice as a teenager. I have a bottle from the last few years and it smells exactly the same as I remember it smelling when it first came out in the 2000s but I never owned a bottle, only knew of it from an family friend who wore it and let me wear some myself. Longevity is great, 7+ hours on me and I find it projects well. It's very easy to get hold on in the UK and I'm tempted to try some of the flankers in the line, and also Covet. I love Stash but it smells nothing like Lovely. I have tested Narciso Pure Musc on paper and on skin, and was really tempted to get it but I found that it didn't seem to last well on me (or I was going anosmic), and that in the drydown it strongly reminded me of Lovely, which is a fraction of the price, so I haven't ended up getting Pure Musc. I have voted this as a smells like, as lots of others have done so but it seems to be hidden? No idea why!

I wore Lovely to bed last night--I have the scented lotion and the EDP, so layered them--and it hit me, the reason that I always think of this as a bedtime perfume, perhaps more so than other lavender-containing frags: it reminds me of the scent of regular Noxema. I always liked the slightly creamy and slightly mentholated smell of Noxema and still find it very comforting. Lovely reminds me of that, only a bit more elevated I suppose. The bottle is very pretty, too, especially for what is now a very inexpensive fragrance. Someone here--perhaps AI?--suggested that this isn't a perfume for young girls, but I disagree insofar as I would much rather that young girls smell like Noxema than a big ol' sugar cookie or whatever gourmand. There is a touch of patchouli, but it does't smell dirty, just a bit woodsy and green. The martini note seems largely imaginary, perhaps a nod to the Sex and the City role (although they drank Cosmos, didn't they?) Anyway, if you're worried about smelling like a salty olive, don't be. You will smell more like a nice clean lady who just scrubbed herself down with a nice handful of Noxema. If this doesn't sound like a compliment, you do not have the same set of associations that I do, and you probably don't have any fond memories of your grandma smoothing Noxema on your sunburned back.

While I do not think this is a 1-to-1 dupe of NR for Her, I can see the similarities. They both have that fuzzy, slightly herbal-citrus white musk, but in NR the fur borders on spiky porcupine quills to me. In Lovely, it is a bit more smoothed out, resembling a brand new stuffed animal with velvety, luscious fur, along with a little bit of soft herbs, a hint of wood, and some faint flowers. Musk is absolutely the star of the show and the standout note for its entire life on the skin (which is about 6 hours in the heat; I have yet to try it in cool weather.) If you like musk but want a white musk that is more fuzzy cotton ball rather than laundry, this is your perfume. I have tried it layered with a couple of other scents and of course it plays very nicely. I am generally pretty fond of musk, so my disappointment in NR for Her has always been a bit of a head scratcher--that is, until I smelled Lovely and understood that it was the execution of that type of musk in NR that made it not my cup of tea. I got this through a lovely (hah!) swap, and I am glad that I did. It is unassuming, but it will be well-loved in my collection.

This is exactly what it smells like, lovely. I tested this at a Macy's and bought the 50mL in a set that comes with a large body lotion. Lovely reads as a light floral musk to me, I get a dominant lavender with patchouli. The patchouli is not too strong here and most likely supports the longevity on skin. A little hippie, with a dash of socialite; Lovely is quite different from my usual tastes of smoky, spicy, sultry Middle Eastern rose, saffron and oud. It is very work-safe and restaurant-safe, as it is not so strong that I will be able to smell and taste it while eating my food. I love this for what it is, and expect that it will blend well with floral vanillas. Ranked among other SJP fragrances I own, I would place this second, with Stash coming first, and Stash Unspoken in third place! Give it a try, especially if you are looking for something refreshing and clean without the awful cotton blossom notes or quickly disappearing citrus notes. This was obtained during the fall, but I am willing to bet that this performs even better and shines during the heat and humidity.

I really like this scent. Is it my favourite? No. However I do enjoy it. I purchased this in a set with 3 other lovely fragrances and at first, I didn’t enjoy it. I felt it was much too mature, and you can definitely smell the lavender. After using it a few times, I’ve grown to like it. The way I feel it smells best and works best for me, is by using the rollerball on my wrists and neck. I use it when I feel stressed or anxious, and the lavender scent makes me feel super calm. I ended up buying this in another set with Born lovely - where you get 2 x 50ml, and 2 x 10ml rollerball. I ended up selling the 50ml, as I don’t feel it a fragrance gif me to spray all over. But as a rollerball, it really is lovely and calming. It’s strange because with Born lovely, I find it very light, fresh and clean, so don’t like the rollerball and only the spray. This is a very strong fragrance, so you don’t need much of it and it lasts pretty much all day. If you’re curious, I say give it a go because it might surprise you. 😊

This has a very comforting quality to it, very lavender, very woodsy, musky, something soapy and clean. I don't think I would like this fragrance as much if it didn't remind me of my elementary school teachers. This perfume smells like an older maternal figure and I love it, makes me feel so relaxed, I like putting it on before bed, or to go to class. Simple, comforting, and linear, I somehow feel like a man could wear this too. But I will say it does smell like on old lady if you spray too much 2–3 sprays max for me (on clothes). It's been about 10 months since I've worn this fragrance, and I really like it! it makes me feel so sleepy and relaxed, ugh its just so addictive, the smell from the bottle isn't my fav but when it dries down it becomes soft woodsy lavender, elegant, a well-dressed woman in her late 30s early 40s wearing a white cashmere sweater, she doesn't buy things based on trends or a price tag although she can afford it she buys out of pure enjoyment and taste.

Lovely doesn't smell anything like what I would have expected from the branding (SJP in a super girly pink taffeta ballerina dress). In fact, if I hadn't read the Fragrantica reviews, I might have passed on an incredible bargain that came my way with a full-size bottle of the perfume plus a generous-size container of the scented body cream (which I tried, and it's very nice quality, comparable to any good department store offering). I layered the lotion and EDP before bedtime, and it was very pleasant and relaxing. The lavender is the top note for me; I do catch a bit of the narcissus and possibly orchid, but this is mostly a woody aromatic scent. I get why people say it's sort of unisex. My husband likes it but demurred when I suggested he wear it--and that was before he knew the name or saw the bottle--so I think there must be more floral in the bouquet than I'm registering. I think I smell like a very clean barbershop, which is quite nice. You might even say it's Lovely.

This is sophistication in a bottle. It reminds me of my grandmother but by no means that it is outdated, more that this truly is a scent for someone put-together and disciplined. I like it, as I am surprised how light it is despite the wood, musky and aromatic notes listed. It opens like a herbal martini with a dash of sweet mandarin. I am not a big fan of the opening, and now I understand why, this fragrance combo reminds me of turpentine but like a fancy one - with added aromatic oils, luckily it fades quickly (2-3min) and what follows is lovely. In a few minutes you are surrounded by with a mix of rosewood, lavender and patchouli and the combo makes me want to behave - sit with my back straight and composed. I would say this is a whole character. With time the lavender and patchouli settle-down and you are left with a really soft woody musk with a gentle amber but with a bit of a kick from the cedar - like being patted on the head then getting your cheeks pinched.

Like-at-first-sniff. Not a love, but glad it is not as dull as the color of the bottle suggests. I get powdery floral immediately which brings to mind Iris, but there is no Iris note listed. I don’t know my florals yet as I am still training my nose. Next I get musk and woods, and a different floral element comes forward, as if I am plunging my nose into a fragrant bridal bouquet. I do not get lavender or martini, and I would not know how to recognize rosewood or narcissus. I like that the cap stays securely on, and I like the feel of the bottle in my hand, like a glass egg. I never got the fruit in the opening. I finally got the amber in the dry-down. Wears as an intimate scent, close to the skin, but too floral to call it a second skin-type scent. Great for Spring or an outdoor wedding. Hard not to want to wear makeup and jewelry with this one to feel put together. It is corporate-formal to me, not casual or for a fun night out.

A pretty clean musk. Got a 100ml bottle for under $30 CAD, so its pretty affordable. Performance is pretty bad, if I'm gonna be honest. Its difficult to overspray this one. Some of the other reviews mention a watered-down reformulation, which may explain it. Its not too generic. The lavender in it is kind of unusual, but very welcome. It adds to the calming scent. I'm sure this would be perfect to wear to work or to low-fragrance environments. I really enjoy wearing it. Though, its unlikely I'll be repurchasing given how my tastes lean a little bit heavier and darker these days. On a lighter note, I have definitely smelled this before on others. Namely on a distant relative who claimed she held me as a baby and I nodded along politely as she comments on how chubby I used to be. I don't know if the association cheapens the fragrance for me. Scent memory is a funny thing.
