Steel by Naim

This smells like some heavy machinery lubricant. To me it's the most revolting perfume I ever sampled. I guess it lives up to it's name, but why would any one want a perfume like this I don't know.

Overheated steel, thats exactly how this smells. Such a nauseating scent, and the dry down does not get any better.

This is a very interesting fragrance that I immediately thought was reminding me of M/Mink from Byredo (but lighter and much more wearable), but when I tried them side by side they aren't as similar as I thought. Steel by Naim has a green and woody scent that's mixed with a scent of steel. It also has patchouli and aldehydes in it and I would say that it's the mix of steel and aldehydes (and maybe the patchouli) that makes this fragrance very interesting. In the beginning I also got a floral hint of violets and a berry scent from black currant but those notes disappeared behind the other ones kind of quickly. After a while the green part disappears and at this point it reminds me more of M/Mink again. I guess that it's the aldehydes, steel, wood and patchouli in this fragrance that reminds of the Adoxal (an aldehyde), cedarwood, patchouli and clover honey in M/Mink... but Steel by Naim doesn't have that incense and inky scent that is very prominent in M/Mink, which makes it kind of hard to wear. I really love M/Mink but I almost never wear it, so I am very happy that Steel by Naim reminds me of it, while being more wearable. It feels wearable even though it also feels very artistic and I really like that.

This is one of the amazing things with perfumes - it triggers emotions. Also, what we smell is based on empiric knowledge why we sometimes has opposite experiences and sometimes we are able to share it 100%. We are happy to tell that Steel by Naim were chosen as the "Design collaboration" of the year with this quote: The design collaboration between Savour and fashiondesigner Naim Josefi, specialized in Swedish steel, turned out extraordinary when perfumer Linda Landenberg (Savour) succeeded to capture the feeling of metallic distension in the perfume. "If steel could be transformed into gold this fragrance would become the alchemists best friend. It opens up with a pointy iceberg and by the finish line you find a warm and round patchouli."

This smells NOTHING like Byredo’s M/M ink! This scent is interesting to say the least! Nothing to write home about. Very linear at best! I don’t know how the person under this says it resembles M/M ink. When the M/M ink is more of a creative scent that stands out. This one for me is not worth the purchase.

Does anyone catch the violet note in this at all?
