Coïncidence

I received my bottle of Coïncidence last week and wow! What an interesting fragrance! I can’t think of any other fragrance that it reminds me of... and I’ve smelled a lot. It truly is a unique piece. It starts out with a bright and juicy orange.. mixed with a boozy chocolate.. kind of reminds me of chocolate covered candied orange peel. It has a sort of nuttiness to it as well.. but then as it settles, the background notes start to come to the fore.. I can’t believe how refined it is. It’s woody.. musky.. complex, but somehow not overpowering which makes it versatile enough to wear all year round.. but I feel it particularly sings in the colder months. It has a presence to it that is gentle but still a statement. Very cleverly done. It is very transportive both in scent and bottle.. with the art deco vibe, it takes me back in time to the 1920s era 😍 which I just adore. To summarise, this is a complex yet elegant scent.. very unisex in scent profile and versatile to wear. A luxurious liquid gold inside a beautiful and unique art deco style bottle. It also came in a beautiful book like box with a magnetic closure. The perfect unique gift for a loved one and also a lovely addition for your own personal collection. If you love movies, art, books and nostalgia, this one is certainly for you! ❤️

I think this perfume is a great work by perfumer Patrice Revillard for the house Scene Fragrances. I have to say that in my case the behavior is totally different when I try it on my skin or on blotting paper. On paper, what stands out the most for me are the fruits. A very pleasant, fleshy prick that disappears to give way to amber leather. On leather, however, what I feel most from the beginning is the leather. It is not an excessively intense leather, but rather a very easy to wear and pleasant leather. The fruits stay much more in the background, although they are also noticeable, giving a certain fun point to the fragrance. Despite having leather, it maintains a relatively fresh character at all times, which makes it very versatile and perfect for any time of the year. As for the occasion, I see it more for informal occasions, perfect for outings, dinners with friends and afternoons. Of course, with moderate INTENSITY, I also see it as a great option as a perfume for work. Performance is moderate, lasting between 6-8 hours and with moderate projection. Chalk one up for skin chemistry's effect on a perfume. This smells lovely on me - but there's no citrus or orange and no booze. It starts with suede, saffron, cedar and incense. And the dry down is slightly sweet amber sandalwood added to the suede, cedar incense. I have no clue what longan berries smell like. I don't have anything that smells like this . . . it's an elegant woody delight.

I just ordered the two available samples from Scène Fragrance's website. The samples themselves are free, you pay for the shipping. Coïncidence, on opening showed some sharpness from the bigarade probably - definitely citrusy - and the musk as well as a rich amber note. On drydown that changed into something more fruity, like a blackberry or blackcurrant, I assume it's the longan berries which I've never had the pleasure to smell. Another minute later the fresher notes take over the lead. Suede, musk, both very tame, which I like, sandalwood blends everything together into creamy and soft spices, slightly earthy and powdery. If there's any incense at all, it is one that hasn't been lighted, there's almost no smokiness that I can detect. Coïncidence isn't heavily boozy either in my opinion, it's more like the flavor of rum without the alcohol. Just looking at the notes I thought this might be quite the heavy oriental, more suitable for the cold season. It is more on the lighthearted side though. Like intensely colored makeup products applied casually with a very light hand and the freshness lifts the whole fragrance up - makes it wearable throughout the year. To me Coïncidence is a very well blended, refined fragrance that I'm considering to buy. In fact, I can't stop sniffing my wrist. It makes me feel like I went through a whole wellness routine in a luxury spa. I'm clean, full of sensations in this lush, exotic ambience. There is calm, no pressure, nothing troubling at all. I just want to go out and live my day now.

My bottles have finally escaped customs and are now safely living with my other fragrances. I was so happy to be a recipient of the giveaway, but trying them on was the real treat. The bottles are very substantial and quite pretty. The art deco top is metal and lends to the atmosphere of the bottle and the contents within. I liked the plaque-like labe l(which is metal also). It is not noticeable on the picture, but SF is embossed on the cap and the bottle. A very nice touch Initial spray was boozy and incense driven. the boozy note was on the sweet side. As this dried down, I almost got something fecal (Saffron, leather maybe). It was very fleeting, and very light. It just surprised me. Final dry down I got a woody musky note. This was very close to the skin, but very nice. I am really quite happy and very grateful with this.
