Hazelnut in Oak

It’s a more well rounded smooth version of dior Fahrenheit. I pick up lots of violet but the cashmere note really rounds it out and gives it quite a lift. It’s has excellent silage projection and longevity. Definitely a no brainer reach and a complete getter. Don’t detect much hazelnut here. I normally hat violet though because it tends to be screechy but they did an excellent job and rounding it out with the fig and cashmere

Opens with a strong vetiver and citrus type scent like bergamot or mandarin, generic but smells really good. Then it starts to dry down and the oak and hazelnut come forth smells really really really good ass appealing and a lil generic but smells so good one of my favs

Also forgot that violet leaf is in the background through the opening mid and dry down. And the jasmine is very subtle I barely get any fig

This one is surprisingly good, and I say that since SOW isn’t known for freshies or anything like this particular fragrance. An aspect of the fragrance verges on the edge of a synthetic vibe, but not in a bad way at all. It’s the type of synthetic that I’ve mentioned before, that has to be used to achieve a note that otherwise doesn’t exist in the sense of extracting an actual note from organic material, while still somehow managing to smell somewhat natural. Performance is also pretty good, more than some of their other well known fragrances. Even the lower performers last a while longer than you might think, they just sit closer to the skin more quickly than you might like. I don’t get the Fahrenheit vibe like some, but understand maybe why with the violet note. To my nose it’s a pleasant semi-sweet woody vibe. I don’t detect all the notes like jasmine or hazelnut separately, but also makes sense that they are listed in the way that it’s blended and the particular smell profile that it has. This is discontinued and I picked up a full bottle after having a 10 mL official bottle, and it will gladly stay in my collection and be worn from time to time. It won’t stay on my shelf as a trophy or just to occasionally sniff-the-atomizer for memories, although I do enjoy just smelling all of my fragrances like that from time to time.

Wore this as my scent of the day and got a compliment. My friend said it reminds her of Dior Fahrenheit but I wasn't picking up any of those vibes myself. To me, I was picking up more of the hazelnut and woodiness from the vetiver and oak but for her, when she smelled me, it was mostly the violet leaves that stood out to her. And therein lies the subjectivity and beauty of well made fragrances. Just as different art and music appeals to different people in different ways and we all have our own tastes, the same is true for fragrances and proves that fragrances, and the compositions themselves are works of art and the perfumers are artists. This is a wonderful fragrance, whether the violet stands out more to you or the woods or the fig... all of them playing together makes this a magnificent work of art.

A soft nutty fruity version of Fahrenheit, you need a guideline for this bottle. Not totally Fahrenheit-like, just some vibe of it. Or you might even call it a soft nutty fruity leather fragrance if you want to omit that it in fact has that vibe. But I’m sure this is not an intentional dupe or even inspired by category since it didn’t remind me of Fahrenheit right off from the beginning. Whatever that case maybe, this is a very weak opening scent. Initially I didn’t even like it. Only when I got to the drydown then I started liking it. It obviously needs a hand on experience as I mainly am basing this review on a skin test, and as most people know, skin chemistry plays an important role in it.

More woodsy than woody. Smells like a fragrant gust of wind from a high end laundromat making it's way across a synthetic wood-scape... I don't want to like this stuff, but kinda do. Hazelnut in Oak is a fresh, good quality, synthetic blend. I smell some woods, fake 🎄 Christmas trees, plastic fir, traces of leaves, you name it. And above all, a very nice, hazelnut laundry pod overtone. Good stuff. Certainly worth a try. Just better than meh for me. I won't wear it. But that's a highly personal decision.

What is going on with this? I have liked or even loved all the Scents of Wood fragrances that I have smelled up until this one, and of course, Pascal Gaurin is a well-known, talented nose. But for me this is just a mess. I don't smell any hazelnut, like at all. And I can't really figure out what I am smelling. Looking at the note listing, I scratch me head because I get none of that. I hate when people say that fine fragrances remind them of "bug spray" or similar things, but I have to admit that my first thought with this was "cleaning product," not one that I can identify, but more like I would not be surprised or offended if a cleaning product smelled like this. Very strange. I tried it on paper, then reluctantly on skin and it's the same. The candle too. A rare complete dislike for me. I would never, ever wear this. Very intrigued what others think...

Update June 2024: a bit embarrassed 2 say, but I was smelling my cap of Fahrenheit and could really smell the familiarity to hazelnut in oak. In my defense I never rocked Fahrenheit in a way that I could get to know it well enough. Instead I would load up on the sprays and hop on my motorcycle to carve out some canyons. Coming back to it now I admit I was a fool 😅. Ashraf above me said it best: *Beautiful in a different way. 2024* This fills my “after run” niche. Smelling on wrist feels like I dunked my head in a bowl of lightly salted cashews. The fig leaf - H.vetiver - orange are a fun plate this cashew nuttiness is expressed across. 10min from applying as I type I’m witnessing the interplay of oak-jasmine- bergamot and I’d describe this as an saline wood? It’s like a saltyness that’s singing my nose hairs but followed closely by the semi-dry comforting oak Ahah it all boils down to refinement but I don’t associate this in any way to Fahrenheit (can’t speak to absolute as I haven’t smelled it) but Le Parfum & edt?? Wouldn’t even consider this a femme, or more aptly, a “-ette” rendering of the DNA.

Gorgeous, cozy, and a little bit melancholy. The violet leaf stands out for me and feels like a L'Heure Bleue homage. It's so beautiful and long-lasting. I keep the candle by my bedside and get whiffs of it whenever I'm in the room.

I hate when brands create then discontinue with a few months to a year later. There are tons of releases and we don't even have time to get around to 1/2 of them b4 they discontinue. Sad 💔
