Hinoki in Hinoki

I really enjoy Hinoki but I find it’s the first note to vanish from other fragrances. Hinoki in Hinoki then, is relatively impressive, offering a solid five hours of relaxing meditative Hinoki. It opens like some sort of gourmet vapo rub, very green and fresh but tempered by aromatic herbs and a standout pepper note that seems to sparkle. The final dry down is very subtle and clean, being mostly peppery cedar. Like a reviewer below I found performance lacking at first but it seemed to improve with repeated wearing. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that the alcohol has been infused with Hinoki wood chips. This is a subtle personal scent, a good choice for dining out at a nice restaurant or just reaaxing in the evening, or quiet meditative moods. 1 year Update: A year on the shelf has strengthened performance nicely so maybe I'll be wearing this more often. It's more peppery and woody.

A true unisex scent. Bright and airy, lively for being so woody. Crisp and astringent (in a good way). I love it, very versatile and appropriate for almost any environment, from work, to dating, to a funeral... Mature, studious and intelligent. Sillage is moderate, which I like. I don't want to assault the room with my fragrance, but I want to smell nice for 6-8 hours... Bought a 10ml immediately after trying the 1ml decant, and came back a month later to invest in the full bottle. This one will be a frequent wear for me going forward. I typically wear oud/leather/tobacco/amber scents, and this is a nice broadening of horizons for me. Feels attractive, more zippy and energetic than what I typically wear (TF Tuscan Leather is a standby for me).

This has honestly been one of my favorite date night fragrances. A lot of people would prefer their fragrances to project more than this does, but I think it actually does this scent favors. It seems to draw people in, and the couple times I've worn it, it draws one or two compliments. The subtle yet crisp woody notes makes me feel like I'm walking through a forest at night, after it rained in the day. It's really pleasant, and very nice to smell off my skin. Whether it is worth the price is to be debated. I paid full retail for a bottle of this, and while I knew I liked it from a tester I had, it is certainly not for everyone. That being said, it is a genuine treasure amongst other woody scents, and one of my personal favorites!

Hartsy3 is spot on. It takes you in a journey, and it's an amazing one. This is one of the most unique and well done fragrances I have tried. The quality is very apperent, and it's one of the very few fragrances I have purchased retail new without a second thought. As some that doesn't like overly sweet fragrances, this is going to be in heavy rotation for many falls and winters to come. Scent wise, it's the most realistic woodsy scent I've experienced. It's slightly fresh (from the clove?) but has a very dark pine with very light incense in the background. I don't usually like incense, but this is perfect. It also lasts a very long time. 10/10

Great soft fragrance. Light or little projection. Perfect for the office. A Hinoki is a Japanese Cedar reminds me here in the Sierra Nevadas of the Incense Cedar. Related family. Looks like Texas Cedar was used in the mix here according to the notes above. All are probably related in geologic time. This fragrance hums in the background such as like White Fire of Terenzi House. Perfect for close office situations. Love this. A subtle cut but not problematic or unobtrusive. Keeps company throughout the day. Protective as well. Well done, I love it. Soft/ perfect office unisex. A soft, refined projection.
