Oak in Bourbon

8/10 Disclaimer: I'm very much biased towards this house, big fan of almost everything I smelled by Scent of Woods. This one tests the limits of my capacity to describe a fragrance, the notes being blended so well it is painful to name them individually. There is wood, carried by the oak and guaiac; there is spice, slivers of ginger and drops of anise; the two linked by subtle flower scents of lavender and geranium. The woods dampens the power of spices and vivacity of the flowers, the flowers sweeten the roughness of the woods, the spices save the blend from dullness. The resulting fragrance is mature but not old, friendly, calm, unisex, akin to reading a Robert Louis Stevenson novel in a warm cafe doubling as a flower shop on a winter day. The fragrance has little evolution, two hours after spraying you get the same feelings you received on the first spray, which is fine by me. Scent of Woods' projection is typically intimate, although enough sprays will let you carry the scent with you for a good 4-6h. My only regret is the price, fairly high, especially for this level of projection, although the sets of three 10ml vials make it somehow more accessible.

Fabulous!! I don't try whisky but if one smells like this it should retail for one thousand dollar. The making process of this fragrance line probably contributed largely to this one's wine-like smell, like it's been aged for half a decade. Tried five of them, this one is my favorite and the richest one.

I absolutely love this juice. There is a lot of spice in this fragrance but also has a very smoky vibe to it. Reminds me a little of a rustic cabin with a fire place. You can smell the smoke that has settled into the wood.

Fairly linear, but a nice fragrance. It's an intimate, subtle scent - Not a ton of projection. I get mainly oak, with a bit of sweetness (from the anise?). Reminds me of Santal 33, but with Oak instead of sandalwood.

I'm mainly getting oak and no other notes. It's masculine and not unisex in my opinion.
