Plum in Cognac

So since there is no real in depth review of this fragrance i will be the first to speak about this Plum in Cognac. Let me start off by saying if your a fan of sweet, fruity and boozy scents with longevity and projection, PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! get your nose on this niche house fragrance. Plum in Cognac is an amazing fragrance and the name describes it best. I have been using this fragrance for about a week now in the greater New York region and it's getting colder here. We are in Autumn and the leaves are changing into that nice reddish orange colors and this fragrance is proving perfection for this season. Now at first spray you get a BURST of plum as if your walking through a plum farm in California. it's very sweet and juicy, after a moment you can smell that boozy rum scent as if someone had a glass and poured rum into it and sliced that juicy sweet plum in 4 dropping it into the glass to let it sit for a bit. The smell you will get from that is amazing. Cooling down you begin to smell the cinnamon and it just stands out like a cinnamon stick shaved a bit into the glass and the rest of the stick dipped in and mixed with the plum and rum which makes it smell delicious. Lasting for quite some time on skin. Walking in New York i would just get a sweet whiff of plum and cinnamon that would just make me lick my chops. After a few hours past you will get a beautiful fruity note reminiscent to some other fragrances you may know which i will compare to later but you get that fruity take on it and when it cools down you get a nice woody sweet smell coming from that peru balsam and that haitian Vetiver with a sweetness coming from that vanilla and immortelle before it dies down. THIS FRAGRANCE IS BEAUTIFUL in my humble opinion. as a lover of all different scents from fougere to chypre to fresh, gourmand.....everything. This scent holds its own with a uniqueness and charming take on rum and plum notes and this brand Scents of wood has peaked my interest to the point of me wanting to explore more of its catalog. You can purchase a 75ml bottle which is currently the largest size and was a blind buy for me and i would have to say i do not regret this purchase one bit. this fragrance falls in line but in no means is the same as Tom ford Tobacco Vanille, Killian Angel Share, Dior Tobacolor. what makes it similar is the sweetness, fruitiness of the fragrance and boozy note but also make it different in its own right and uniqueness. To me it's Unisex leaning a bit masculine. Hopefully this review finds someone who is potentially looking to purchase like i was and if your on edge of buying a whole bottle, scent of woods offer a 10ml decant that comes with a candle so you can test it to see how you would enjoy it. Also note the bottles are great quality they are extremely heavy and you can also customize the bottles the way you want for the specific fragrance which is a dope touch. Anyway i hope you enjoy your bottle of Scents of Wood like i have im definitely going to get another Plum in Cognac. I hope you have a good day or good weekend.

10DEC23: Arrival day... (First spray on paper) Oh wow...this is nice!! Very strong plum/booze scent on first sniff/spray. Vanilla and cinnamon strongly take the lead after about 20 minutes with plum and booze in the background....though they never go away. At 2 hours, very woody...with plum, vanilla and booze in background...no trace of cinnamon in the mix anymore. Wow, I thought I was going to have to layer this with another vanilla but it definitely DOES NOT need additional vanilla, this is perfect just the way it is!! The only thing I'm concerned with is that the juice is colored purple. The spray I put on the test paper square is definitely colored and that means this will stain my clothes. I'm unsure how I'm going to wear this without messing up my fabrics now... I'll give it a test run tomorrow on some older clothes and see how it wears and if it stains my shirt. (First full wear...) So far, no bad stains...this may not me a problem after all. I mainly sprayed my chest and pulse points with this frag. This fragrance also lasts a good while! The one spray I put on skin to test lasted through the entire night and well into this morning. I put on a full wear for the day and I'm leaving a nice trail. The scent bubble for this frag is nicely and professionally personal, with a radius of about 1-2 feet at the most. This is not a beastmode frag and I'm so thankful for it. This is a nicely composed fragrance that has longstanding power and longevity. It doesn't give away all of it's power in a short amount and then disappear. I can see that this frag is going to last the entire day without needing any respray...and that's my kind of professional fragrance. I can wear this to the office without needing to worry about losing scent by lunch. Overall, I like this much MUCH better than "Fame 15" and I feel good about my investment in "Plum in Cognac". This is a high quality fragrance and I think I'd like more high quality fragrances. I don't even need to layer this with a vanilla, it's completely optional! And THAT...is just awesome! UPDATE: Layering this with "Bianco Latte" gives a "Warm Raisin-Bread" effect... ABSOLUTELY SCRUMPTIOUS!!

UPDATE: I left this sample sitting on paper for a few days and it was the only perfume sample my puppy tried to eat. And for some reason, this made me want the juice even more. I will assume that it really is sourced with natural ingredients. Very beautiful fragrance! It is much like an understated version of 1270 by Frapin. This is more of a true blonde wood cognac fragrance, and because it tries to accomplish less complexity than 1270, it hits every note like a fine clockwork symphony. Though I must say, it is much more reserved than other fragrances. When I tried to test eight fragrances at once, this was the only one for which I had anosmia. I tried it the next day and it is still very soft, but it performs better on my pulse points than paper. I get much more cognac and luminous woods than plum, and unless I catch it just right in the air, more of a dried plum than a fresh or macerated plum. It is like a Where's Waldo of plum. I cannot smell it at first until I finally notice it, then once I do, it's nearly all I smell 😅 Not nearly as mouthwatering as 梅酒 (Japanese plum wine), but an absolute delight for the skin nonetheless. If I did not already own Frapin's 1270 and hadn't spent too much money on fragrances lately, I would be rushing to buy this— and that gorgeous bottle sure does look tempting. For now, though, I will keep my options open, especially with its subtlety. I would rate it about 9/10.

Plum in Cognac is a very delectable fragrance. The plum is amazing but seems to fade off pretty quickly. After the initial opening, it turns into a smooth and slightly powdery blend rum, cinnamon, and vetiver. Makes me think of spiced rum with a touch of slightly powdery woodiness. The vetiver is not in your face like other vetiver fragrances but it definitely is there. This is quite similar to my bottle of Fame 15 by Alexandria Fragrances which is supposed to be a clone of Andy Warhol by Bond No. 9. I find Plum in Cognac to be a tad smoother but the plum note does disappear a lot faster. This might be a good option for someone looking for an alternative, not a clone, of Andy Warhol or Plum Japonais which are 2 discontinued plum dominant fragrances. Speaking of which, this almost makes me think of a cross between one of the previously mentioned fragrances and then Angels' Share By Kilian. It should be noted that the liquid itself is a dark purple, similar to that of a plum, which makes me worry about the possibility of staining clothes. I do want a full bottle but it is a shame that it is $240 for 75ml. I do like this a lot but I get way more plum from Fame 15 and it doesn't seem to project much, so I don't know if I will be getting a full bottle or not.

Plum gorgeous. Stunningly ripe, mellow, rich fruitiness dirtied up with just the right amount of spice and woodiness to give it a hefty, adult, fleshy presence. Feels true, real, luxuriously velvety. The plum's fully mature, but not fermented or boozy or over-sugary; more the lovely waft from a plum pudding or really smooth plum wine; the whole thing just feels warm, welcoming and made to enjoy. The juice itself is an almost ridiculously voluptuous dark purple (likely to stain light fabrics) and does magic on the skin, heating up to amp the delicious cinnamon note to almost gourmand levels. Fit to be the heir to TF's discontinued legend Plum Japonais, and in many ways better - less complex, but more organic and honest. I do love TFPJ but it costs silly money these days, so even Scents of Woods' very stiff pricing and slightly baffling business model (only available online, no outlets, no samples, they want you to buy subscriptions to get monthly 10mls' worth, etc etc) might not be insurmountable obstacles. Feels great on skin and lasts ages (8-10 hours if sprayed; might make two or three days on fabrics). Simply luscious.

Like most of the line, Plum in Cognac is priced at $240/38 for 75/10ml, sold at great boutiques like Perfumology, and it performs very well, being anchored in resins and other long-lasting accords. 8 out of 10

The reviewer below is waaayyy off. Sorry. Sometimes I think people simply want to put out their version of a poetic criticism just for the sake of doing so. I get it. This is predominately a subjective experience, but some take it too far. The fragrance is good to very good. This seems to be the true range. Some may spend time trying to scientifically explain how the notes evolve, etc. the truth is that the scent manages to “dance a decent ballad” to use a metaphor. The plum seems to persist throughout. The cinnamon makes its debut early and seems to keep going. It DOES get slightly funky for a short while (20 minutes or so) before settling into what is the mosaic that it intends to be. Upon wearing it, I catch occasional whiffs and it smells very appealing. I DO have to say that the cognac portion doesn’t surface too prominently for me. Plum, sweet and “cinnamony” is how I’d describe it.

Received bottle in mail today. So 1st impression review here. Will update later. Very impressed. Absolutely apparent this has been aged in an oak cask. If u are a high end whiskey drinker, think of the smell of that aged oak. Plum is softer and in the background I find. I have Herod and don’t see the comparison. When I wear Herod I have people from time to time ask me if I just smoked pipe tobacco. Herod is a gorgeous, smooth, sweet tobacco with a soft, well blended Vanilla. Plum in cognac has not a substantial vanilla base, but a very nice oak/woods base. The oak base is extremely organic. Plum in cognac has more aggressive spices and I detect maybe a cinnamon prominence. I’m almost transported to the ride Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland; thick wet air, centuries-old banyan woods, and a nice spicy liquor. It’s dark and foggy and u might find Jack Sparrow lurking nearby.

Good things come to those who wait I understand that a trait of discipline is delayed gratification(I wish I was more disciplined), so imagine the painstaking process that this masterpiece goes through. After it is masterfully blended bringing out an inherent depth of both plumb and cognac, it is aged for a year before it is released for all of us to enjoy. Make no mistake, this is a showpiece scent and a very worthy recipient of Olfactory awards. The woodiness is subtle and takes backseat to the rich depth of the other high quality ingredients. Not to sweet, fruity, woody or boozy. I think the perfumer mentioned 9 ingredients and three continents, it shows. This is such a gorgeous scent. Wow. Boozy plum with cinnamon and vanilla. I was going to buy Praline in maple, but I went with Kerosene Blackmail instead, this... this is a one of kind gorgeous scent. It’s absolutely stunning. I feel there is some leather hiding in here as well, like a Carolina CH men type sweet leather. Nothing like vetiver or any earthy scent shows up with this scent. This is a dark, sweet, boozy scent. I see this being a major compliment getter. HOWEVER ... this is one of those fragrances that smell awesome when it wafts towards your nose.. when you put your nose directly up to your skin, it smells very earthy and kind of shitty, like a very musty smell. Very strange how that works, wafting it amazing, up close mehhh. I’m on the fence with this one.

Wow wow. Love at first spray. A boozy vanilla softened by sweet crushed fruit and warm spices. There is a soft woody baseline so it never smells edible. On my chemistry it is boozy vanilla first and foremost. I wasn't expecting so much vanilla! It is heavy on the skin, but moderate in the projection. I found myself bringing my arm to my nose repeatedly just to get another hit. It lasted about 4 hours with moderate projection and another 4-ish on my skin. Very much a winter and fall perfume. Even though it's still cold here in March, it is spring, and while my first few wears have been INTOXICATING, seasonally, they have felt off. I'm going to put this aside until fall, when I think it will become a total favorite.

Warm, resinous peru balsam mixed with freshly muddled plums, a splash of rum, and a healthy dusting of cinnamon. The osmanthus gives it a floral touch, the base a very dry, brushy woods. Thick and syrupy with a nice balance of sweetness, astringency, and spice. Sadly, the drydown is mostly just woods with a touch of remaining warm spice as the plums and rum fade away. Moderate projection for 2-3hr, longevity 8-10hr. I get Herod's tobacco note quite strongly, so they smell nothing alike to me. The plum makes it dissimilar to Angels' Share beyond both being boozy cinnamon scents at their core. Yes, the juice is a very deep purple that stained the heck out of my shirt collar just rubbing on the back of my neck.

This is amazing. I only have a 5ml decant, but I'm pretty sure it will become a full bottle by winter. I can't pinpoint a single fragrance that's truly similar to this one, but if you need a reference, imagine the woody base of Bois Impérial by Essential Parfums. Then imagine someone marinated plums in rum for weeks before blending them into Bois Impérial. That's the closest comparison I can think of. The other notes listed don't really matter because they're not the stars of the show. It has character and personality, and I find it to be quite sexy as well. This is absolutely divine if you enjoy woody fragrances, boozy perfumes, and plum.

This is really delightful. The plum is bright and rich and with spices, it comes across stewed or baked, like a plum tart. However, the unsung hero is the Haitian vetiver, which is noticeable throughout and is a really elegent foil to the sweetness. I think the vetiver is what some people are detecting as dank or musty. You may have to reapply once to make it through a 9-5 workday, but longevity isn't everything. The elegence makes it well worth the tradeoff. It isn't cheap, but compared to what you'd get from far more hyped and prestigious houses at an even higher price point, this presents great value.

This is one of my favorite fragrances. Such a wonderful scent that is so addicting. I get the plum and boozy notes right at the start and they do remain prominent into the dry down but the balsam and vetiver make this fragrance come together so smoothly. I easily get 10 hours on my skin and over 24 on clothing. This remains a skin scent even after showering. Only downside is that it will stain white/bright colored fabric so either spray on darker clothing or let it dry before putting on lighter colored fabric. 10/10 in my opinion, this will stay in my collection for as long as it’s on the market.

This scent is very complex. There's a very subtle sweetness that works very well, but otherwise is woody and has traces of balsamic. Has a very earthy nature to it that works impeccably. There is also some hints of cinnamon and maybe ginger? Bought this mostly blind and was very happy with the result. Love this scent for a night out, though the pricetag is a bit bigger than some other fine alternatives. Longevity is moderate, maybe not good for work, but good for an event of some kind. It is expensive, but it is a very high-quality scent for that value. All that said, 9/10.

Dark, rich, dusty sweet. It gives me a lot of patchouli notes first, like Oajan PDM, and Midnight Train Prada. Dries down to pleasant vanilla & Peru balsam, VERY similar to Cartier Oud vanilla (but Cartier is not that complicated). I would not say much about Rum here, it is not prominent because Labdanum, and Peru Balsam override it and don't give a "poopy oud" vibe as usual rum. Overall, great, complex, unisex perfume. It is worth trying, but if you have some of the listed above, maybe you don't need it. The bottle is amazing, as a gift it is a beast!

Yes this would be their most popular. It is on the wave of a niche Le Male Elixir. I now have this and Le Male Elixir. Super high quality. This is not too sweet. They did not overdose the ethyl maltol. Worth having for me. I live in Utah and it was a bit of a drive for me, but I went to the store and smelled their whole line. Really nice people. I fully respect the quality and passion of the house. Much of their line is cedar, pine, oak, wood chips and saw dust, but this one is different. They have a vanilla one that's good too, but I didn't get that.

If I could pick an ideal context to wear this scent, I'd say to taste brandies at a ski resort in Innsbruck--and like a good aged brandy it's mature, full-bodied, and intoxicating. The plum is sparkling and uplifting yet heady and deep at the same time. The boozy notes are overwhelmed by the plum in the best possible way--if you don't like the liquor-on-breath aspect of some boozy scents, this is the boozy scent for you. It leans vaguely feminine but it's not specifically for a man or a woman, it's just for the sexy, sweet, and confident individual.

This is to die for. Cinnamon, Plum, and booze with a vanillish backbone. Lasts all day and then some. The dry down is spectacular. many people love the dry down and wait for it. I am more the type that loves openings and mid because I love that strong blast with the ability to smell it without getting close but this dry down is one of the best I've smelled. I also disagree strongly with the reviewer below comparing it to Herod...completely different notes and fragrance and this dry down is 10x compared to Herod, and I love Herod!
