Santal Umeshu

I went to the store in Utah and walked away with a full bottle of this and 3 others. Smelled them all and there are a lot of pine, oak, cedar woodchips and sawdust which are all really well done IMO. This is a fresh, clean sandalwood, violet and something almost green leafy. Some slight sweetness. Very happy with this one. Perfect for warm weather. Office safe from their line. I wouldn't mind this being a signature scent. Very inoffensive and not too sweet to smell juvenile. I am really impressed with the quality of this place. They are scents of wood, but really do have something for everyone. Well rounded but with a wood brief.

shit's bomb. have u ever smelled a green sandalwood? well, this is that. it's kind of nutty and green/raw/unripe sandalwood, as in the wood is so freshly cut it's not brown or dry yet. there's a bitterness about this that's so pleasant. adoring this after months of wearing this and other sandalwood frags, this is different. it's creamy and it's not, it's spicy and it's not, it's green and it's not. if it was a colour it would be grey. it's out of this world balanced.

Really like this scent. Very fresh green umeshu. Reminds me of eating a sour green umeshu from the tree. Well done, enjoy immensely. Green fresh sent is umeshu plums. Santal holds it nicely on the skin. Addicting fragrance.

Finally got a sample! A 10mL i should say. This is as far as I go in terms of blind buying i think. On me it's grassy - soft (in texture) - earthen - and sweet simultaneously. Maybe I'll try some umeshu someday, but what drew me into taking my chances with 10mL was the ginger dominance in the note breakdown. It feels very laidback with a touch of formality. From my experience, maybe since they share sandalwood, Santal Umeshu is a close cousin of the Gris Charnels lol. They seem to share the same foundation but go off in different directions, which for me was most recognizable towards the end. Where those two grew up in the big city and got introduced to funky stuff like iris, tea, and cardamom, Santal Umeshu stayed in the rural areas for a while and stuck to his roots, quite literally, with davana and grassy touches.

It's a fascinating smell! Fresh and open from the first note. There is a leafy, green scent that I cannot quite identify. After drying, I detect notes of vanilla and licorice. There is definitely a citrus element, but it smells more like lemongrass than orange to me. My only complaint with fresh green smells is that they can start to feel too sterile like lemon pledge. But this one is very wearable and many people probably do not have that same association like I do.

the drydown is really lovely and mellow, but i have to get past that green and astringent opening that smells exactly like those little orange vine fruits that grow on my fence every summer. the sweet plum and velvety sandalwood that shines through that though, keeps me using up the rest of this sample.

Usually not a big fan of sandalwood frags but this is really good and really unique. This imo centers a lot more on the umeshu aspect than the sandalwood but it's really well blended, there isn't any one note stomping out the others. There's a refreshingly sour aspect to it that I'm really enjoying.
