Vetiver in Chestnut

Have you ever felt like you need an "easy reach" everyday fragrance? Something for those days when you just want to throw on a t-shirt and jeans and head out the door? Here's your perfect everyday perfume! When I first sampled Vetiver in Chestnut, I was smelling it among many other, much stronger fragrances. After getting all those smells into my nose, this one was so light on the paper strip, I wasn't sure if I could really even detect a smell at all. Still, I felt the need to to buy a sample so I could get some one-on-one time with this fragrance. I'm glad I did! The first spray is a fresh, woody, almost soapy smell. Very clean and very light. From the beginning, there is faint projection and I have to directly smell very close to my skin to even pick up on it. As it dries, it continues to be a soft, fresh aroma, but you can detect the subtlety of other resinous notes. The licorice gives it an almost caramel sweetness (without veering into gourmand territory). I tested this on my husband who is very sensitive to fragrances and he said it was his favorite of all my samples. So I think this fragrance would be very wearable in an office setting, where people around you may be more sensitive and offended by strong smells. If your goal is to project a cloud of fragrance around and get lots of compliments, this one will not give you that. For that reason, I also wouldn't recommend this one as a "night out" or winter fragrance. This is for mature folks (of any gender) who just want to smell lovely, clean, and approachable.

Very surprised to enjoy this as much as I do. I've never been a fan of licorice, and while if you smell it up close it can be too much, in the air the licorice is pleasant. Eventually this transitions to a more juniper berry prominent accord, which I've always been fond of. My biggest complaint is that Vetiver in Chestnut does not seem to last that long on my skin; it projects well for about an hour, then is a skin scent for about 3 more before it dies down. This is only a sample from a third party, so I'm not going to let this completely deter me, but I do have to experience this a bit more before I deem it full bottle worthy. Definitely on my fall to-get list as a decant. 7.5/10

This might be my favorite from the line so far! It's incredibly vibrant and the bright green juice is a fun bonus. The top notes just shimmer and the drydown is so ethereal, lovely, and truly unisex.

Gorgeous, hot scent that leaves my mouth feeling dry. A grass fire in motion. Love it.

Who knew licorice could be this fresh! This opens so fresh and great with pink pepper, grapefruit, and a huge helping of fresh cut sage. As it dries down the pepper and grapefruit disappear as licorice and vetiver become the main focus of the fragrance. It is still kept very fresh by sage and juniper, yet very smooth with the orris. Like Hartsy3 said, this is one of those fragrances that you just throw on whenever. I was worried this was going to be gourmand or candied, but the licorice is very natural and beautiful here. Favorite licorice scent to date, and might become a staple as you can very much wear this anywhere. I'll have to give this a few more wears to truly get to know this scent but I can sense this like turning to a love quickly. While many report poor performance, I get a respectable amount of 6-7 hours with moderate projection in the first half and intimate for the second half. Edit: This is so clean, ethereal, and versatile that it’s weirdly addicting, and it has become one of my go to work/casual scents! This whole fragrance is just very laid back yet still slightly professional. Not really seeing the Vetiver Tonka comparison as this doesn’t have very much, sugary/tonka-like sweetness. Rather, this is super aromatic and zingy with a wonderful natural licorice-y current throughout. Certified warm weather staple! 8.5/10.

The notes are abit different from what I smelled, I got mostly vetiver and chestnut from this. The dry down is soft though, nothing powerful is going on which I didn't expect as a fragrance from the scent of woods. Abit disappointing actually. Overall the scent isn't bad though, everything is very smooth and its an overall balanced fragrance. 7/10 for me.!

This fragrance is poorly named. It is mainly a mild licorice or aniseed focused gourmand. It’s lovely.
