Markievicz

This perfume, named after the famous Irish revolutionary, is more niche than the other perfumes from this house. I would argue that this perfume is more female than male. There is a strong carnation note mixed with the clay sage, spicy notes and woody. The perfume composition feels dated to me. I can't see a young lady wearing this. This is probably because the the carnation note. I would say that the market for this perfume is more niche than for the other perfumes from this house. Saying that, I don't think it's a bad perfume. 4/5

Opens primarily with sage, I don’t really get any citrus notes. This may be a personal experience though as sage always performs super loudly on my skin. The cedar and oakmoss start to become prevalent immediately upon the dry down making the overall scent lean woody and powdery. They stick around as background notes through the rest of the perfume’s wear. After an hour or two, the scent does transform to become more floral than green or aromatic. I think the hyacinth is very discernable from close-up, while the scent leans more towards carnation from a distance – vaguely floral, spicy, and wet versus a flower I can easily identify. The cedar and oakmoss in the background keep the fragrance more powdery than fresh. Longevity and sillage are both very good; I got an easy 10+ hours of wear off of two sprays, and it lingered throughout my office. I probably won’t wear this again because I’m not a big fan of powdery florals, but Markievicz is definitely a well formulated and strong performing perfume.

I tried this in their discovery collection and this was the standout fragrance for me. It's uplifting in the top notes and then warm and rich in the dry down. The longevity is really good too. I really like this one and it's from a small Irish perfume brand too which is lovely.
