bought this second hand because I dont care to support the brand, though I do think it's stupid to review bomb the fragrance because not only does it do the actual perfumer Yann Vassnier who created the fragrance a disservice, but it's dishonest to the audience. I dislike the brand, but still think this fragrance is fantastic. Two things can be true at once. One of the better incense fragrances I've tried, with a sort of unique vanilla that twists into a very subtle bubble-gummy sweetness for a brief part of the experience and dries down into an incredible amber/incense finish that lasts overnight. Buy this one second hand if you absolutely must have it. However, if the sweetness and vanilla isn't your jam, I highly suggest picking up Giardinodiercole from Agatho instead. I like that one a lot better as it has a more mysterious vibe. It's twice as expensive as Incarnate at retail price, but can be found at a steep discount at discounters. Another rec I have that isn't exactly the same kind of scent profile, but rather just adjacent to this style would be Flaming Creature from Marissa Zappas at around the same price. If you want a MUCH drier incense, you can't go wrong with L'air du Desert Marocain from Tauer, which is very highly praised by the community.

I'll start off by saying after getting my sample and this being the one I was the most excited about I was SO let down. It just fell flat. Now 2 weeks later and the temps have dropped into fall leaf weather I decided to try it out again and OH MY GOD. Yes the first time I smelt it, it did give wood varnish vibes like mentioned below but I think letting it sit did wonders. I also do believe this is meant for 65 degrees and below temps. I do get the violet leaf in the very beginning and I think that is what gave the varnish note. There is very little vanilla, it is used to round out all the heavy resins and I think makes it begin to get sweeter as it dries down. I was raised Episcopalian, but it truly reminds me of sitting in an old church pew on a fall day and all the old mens spicy aftershave is permeating through the air and the resins that have been lit over the years have started to seep into the wood beams above us. It's warm, smokey, peppery, and like the resins left over in a church. This is what I wanted TF Oud Wood to be. It's unisex in the best way, sexy as hell and yet comforting like a cashmere scarf. *sighs and adds to cart*

Off the bottle I swear this smells just like a haunted house attraction. Synthetic sweet fog pumped from a machine, skin warmed latex masks, body heat and fear. On first spray it is so sticky and resinous. Like a palm pulled away sappy from leaking pine bark. It's final notes are dry pine needles, and a yummy, vanillic, smoky incense. Another winner from the line up. Not quite the "fucking in a church" fragrance I've been needing in my life but delicious and alluring all the same. I can see this being a daily wear throughout the year. I'd be thrilled if this was my natural scent. God it's good. Edit: Won't be deleting these reviews but I do want to say, like in my other edits, the actions and words of this brands creator are fucking repulsive. Would never have bought any of this had I known of her hatred toward women and other marginalized groups.

Asked for Coney Island Baby for christmas and my mom accidentally got me this instead. Couldn’t be more happy she did though, it’s my favorite perfume of 2024 and I wear it almost everyday now. When I first started wearing it, it was this warm smokey spicy incense scent that managed to be wearable but still edgy and fun. But the more I wore it the more I started to get this sweet bubblegummy tang under all the smoke and spice and something just clicked and now I’m obsessed. It’s everything I look for in a perfume, something that smells good but also has character. And this one in particular is so enveloping and warm. Usually perfumes that those around me compliment me for are basic and nice but they never scratch that itch of being something I find totally satisfying and excited to have on, but this one checks all those boxes for me 🥰🥰🥰

The controversy set aside, this fragrance is stunning. If you're a fan of amber, incense, patchouli, and/or vanilla, you will more than likely love this. I do get the whiff of bubblegum sweetness another user described, but I do recommend not putting this too close to the chest, as the scent can get a *little* cloying as the day goes on. Overall, I adore this scent, and every time I wear it, I get asked the infamous "WHAT are you wearing??". I did recenty get a sample of Phlur's "Vanilla Smoke" which was very similar, just a little more sweet. On another note, fragrance, just like all things we do in life, IS political.

I love this. My favorite of the three. It’s enveloping and spicy and alluring. I don’t gravitate toward resinous offerings often, but this one is just gorgeous, with just the right amount of sweetness. It reminds me a bit of a more complex and less sweet version of Lush’s Lord of Misrule, which is also a pepper/patchouli/vanilla concoction. It also reminds me of Snif’s Heal the Way, but I like this a lot more. Give this a try if you’re looking for a deep vanilla. I would definitely get a full bottle of this and wear it when I want to feel sexy.

Yes, Scouts tweets were gross. Even though I believe she was joking, I did not find them amusing in the slightest. I don’t support her on that end and believe some criticism is fair. About her allegedly supporting Trump, that’s her business. The world isn’t black and white, I can empathize with and understand both sides and I’m quite sick of cancel culture. This perfume is still beautiful, it’s not fair that people are rating it poorly because of the controversy.

I love incense so much, but incense perfumes often smell too heavy and perfumey, and nostalgic in an icky way to me. This however smells just like incense! at first its spicy but after you let it sit on your skin for a bit it smells just like you've been sitting in a room with incense. simple but I love it. I do get the church in a good way smell also ever so slightly. To me it's a perfect incense + nostalgia that's not old smelling

This is exactly what I wanted Female Christ to smell like. Whereas that smelled almost carmelly to me this is sweet without really feeling like a gourmand. It’s carnal, resinous, sweet like burnt sugar. I have a strange childhood memory of my mom accidentally leaving the iron on her vintage wood dresser and this reminds me so much of that. I had such high hopes for the whole trio and they could not have delivered more.

Oh my lord I love this. I honestly wish I could just bathe myself in it. It's like holy skankery. It isn't very available in my country unfortunately, so I have been toying with a sample decant. My only qualm is that I feel it doesn't last long on me. I'm still looking for something like this that can actually stay on my skin for more than an hour when I'm out and about. If there's any dupe please let me know! :(

I normally don't write reviews, but seeing the dogpiling on this perfume for reasons totally unrelated to the actual perfume made me irritated enough to come to its defense. It's beautifully blended and one of the better incense perfumes I've smelled. I love incense, but a lot of new incense perfumes to me are very one-note incense bombs. This one is layered and sophisticated - spicy, peppery, and a little sweet.

Discovered Scout Dixon Incarnate recently and it is lovely. The bottle size is an excellent value. The fragrance is alluring. Husband also says I smell great. So happy with my purchase. I also purchased a sample of their other fragrances which is a genius offering because now I want to purchase other scents from their line. Supported them when the mob attacked- will keep buying because the fragrance is quality.

This perfume that really reminds of the DNA of Byredo's Bal D'Afrique and Gypsy Water, which is funny because Scout famously doesn't love Byredo as a house. If you like either of these Byredo perfumes and you want something a little spicier and longer lasting I think you'll really enjoy this. It's not particularly complex, but there is something really specific about it that makes you want to smell it again.

Wow! What a pleasant journey. On me I get sweet vanilla surrounded by smoky, woody spices. It's warm without being spicy. My husband said it reminded him of the market in Dubai. The olibanum note has my heart - like hug from grandpa after he spent a day chopping wood. The basement of his house was stacked with wood to burn all winter. The scent lasts 24 hours without being screechy or overwhelming.

EDIT: Well heck. Much like the church, this is a let down. Currently looking for substitutes, preferably not made by wretched people. It lives in your hair, in your clothes, on your skin. It's there long after you put it on. You'll think it's gone and then someone tells you you smell delicious. Like an old lover or religious trauma, it's going to be with you forever.

This is a review for the fragrance (it is insane that I need to qualify a review this way, but here we are (thanks, progressives)). I was not a fragrance person before discovering SDW, but because of their excellent marketing, I was compelled to buy their sample size (genius because now I will buy the other scents). Spicy and warm; this hits right.

This immediately brought me back to my Catholic school days, sitting in the back of an old church while everyone lights candles. It's forbidden and sexy. It's spicy, incense, and mellows to a wonderful vanilla scent. It is very sensual to me and great for the night. Incredibly long-lasting.

Holy shit. Initially this smelled like very white pepper heavy, like incense and polished hardwood flooring. I wasn't too impressed. However, when this dried down to a sweet, resinous, incense scent, I was blown away. I need to purchase this. El Dorado is fantastic as well.

besides sdw (ugh), HOLY shit this was an incredible smell!! theres this smokey incense that has this sweetness that gets stuck in the back of your throught!!!!! its incensey and sweet at the same time. this was so amazing actually. its actually addictive

Such a beautiful perfume. It's spicy, sweet, sweet, sexy and sophisticated and perfect for fall or winter. I started off getting a sample of this and immediately turned around and got a full sized bottle. I get so many compliments when I wear it out.

Aside from any SDW controversies, this is in fact a beautiful fragarance and i always get compliments on it. It’s resinous, sweet but not sickly, woody, has very prominent notes of vanilla to me. I love this fragrance tbh.

This went from one of the best, most sought after - sold out - incense scents to disgusting and cheap smelling over the course of 3 days. Use your brain if you are looking into purchasing this. It's a wonderful scent.

As a person that never went to a church and had no idea of incense, i like this a lot. Could be the fav of all three but idk if i want to walk around and people think they’re smelling church.

Amazing masculine fragrance. Ignore the brigading, it's great. First thing I get is the incense, and the vanilla comes out more as it settles in.

Smells like a sweet-ish version of an aftershave product. Like kissing vanilla chapstick after a visit to the barbershop. I’m a fan.

Incredibly beautiful, heady, spicy, incense fragrance. Absolutely gorgeous.

This is definitely an intriguing choice from Scout’s collection. This fragrance is extremely strong - I tested it once in my room and I could still smell it for several days. It starts off as a very candy-like spicy, resinous, waxy incense. The opening reminds me of the initial spray of Desert Suave by Liquide Imaginaires. After the initial strong scent dries down, it becomes a smoky, woody, mysterious scent. The sweet incense qualities are still there, plus some vintage powderiness from the violet. I definitely feel the church atmosphere it’s meant to convey; an old cathedral surrounded by dripping candles, dusty books, and burning incense. It’s an extremely interesting ambience, but it’s a bit too strong and sweet to me for an everyday wear.

I love this scent. I live in a very Catholic area and it smells like the old churches in my area but with a sweeter, more holiday feeling. I can see why this is so popular. Warm spicy incense mixed with the sweetness of the vanilla. I got some on my hands from opening a tester wrong and honestly it’s really nice. If you are lucky enough to have your hands on a full bottle, I am jealous. I don’t know when I would wear this but it’s one of those things that smell good enough to just have to take a sniff.

I am honestly a little disappointed because I had the highest hopes for this one out of the three. I do not pick up on incense that much and it comes off way sweeter than I expected on my skin. As someone who went to Catholic school for 13 years, I have a good idea of what a Catholic Church smells like and unfortunately it misses the mark for me. Still a beautiful fragrance though!

Scout fka Taylor is cringe. It's unfortunate bc this perfume was actually nice for fall and felt different from all the other vanilla-y perfumes I owned. I was very into this one prior to finding out everything about her. As I'm trying to make my way through this bottle so I can just be done with it forever and not feel like my money was a complete waste(who am I kidding, it was), I began to realize it really doesn't last on me at all, nor does it project well in my personal experience. I think I'm the only person who can smell it on myself, and even then I have to smell my wrist to be able to tell it's still there and it's gone within 2-3 hours. All recent developments about her aside, I don't think Incarnate is worth the hefty price tag and once you put her back into that equation it's a definite no.

Every time I try a perfume with pepper in it, I tell myself, maybe this time it will be different? Maybe it wont dominate the fragrance? And every time I think, wow, this fragrance would be so much better without the pepper. It just gross. There is only one fragrance that I tolerate pepper in (Perlerette), and even then, it would be perfect without the pepper. All I get is cheap, peppery woods, with sweetness.

was obsessed with it when i did a paper sniff test, and after spraying the sample on myself the ethyl maltol in it really makes me smell like bubblegum in a way that i don’t TOTALLY love for myself. super long lasting, i can get a whisper of incense at first but it just faded into a sickeningly sweet smell that became a vanilla after a few hours. wish the woody/smokey notes translated onto my skin!

I think I'm in the minority with this, but I didn't love this scent. It smells exactly like Catholic church when the priest swings the thurible through the aisles, and I don't have much of an interest in smelling like that. I thought it would be more feminine/sensual, but IMO this is a very smoky incense that is a little much for me.

It’s not bad just not for me, very heavy on the top notes. It is a complex fragrance at heart for me is almost to feminine leaning for me it doesn’t seem it but something I can’t put my finger on make it feel familiar in feminine in my mind. Overall 5/10

I feel like I am taking crazy pills with all the glowing reviews. This is sickeningly sweet and any insence notes are barely recognizable under all the vanilla. Based on SDW's perfume recommendations I expected something much more incense forward and balanced.

Damn, all the stuff surfacing about Scout is a bummer. I read some racist tweets from her that def destroyed my fan feelings. Her online bread crumb trail isn’t looking good. However I strongly believe that, in this capitalist society, the way consumers choose to spend our money is the most basic leverage we have. So important to research the things we buy whenever possible. If you like the Coney Island Baby scent profile, but would rather support a true baddie, go check out Chris Rusak, Caji! Rusak makes his own fragrances & even forages some of the materials himself! I appreciate the approach he takes in his craft & his radical politics. Caji is in that ‘sweet gasoline’ arena. - dreamy mechanics shop with a dose of Orris butter!! If u are like me & can’t get enough of those smoggy motor oil gasoline perfumes you will want to try this! Lvnea has posted about human rights online this whole year, even when it’s been very unpopular. Honestly this person is the MVP in my collection - everything she makes is a star. Cuir Fetiche is a leather incense with a juicy backbone that is out of this world gorgeous & very affordable. All the people wanna smell me when I wear this. Doesn’t smell like Incarnate but fits the category and will please a moody incense lover. If you like El Dorado check out Undergrowth by Rook - (also makes his own fragrances) Rook has been very outspoken online about their values & has supported ‘watermelons’ with his full chest - he is a real one - & Undergrowth is impossibility beautiful! I personally did not like El Dorado (smells like ax body spray to me). Undergrowth doesn’t smell at like El Dorado but it is in the same category of clean, light, forest petrichor. It smells like a morning rain in a mint garden in the mountains - it’s the most precious little petrichor I’ve ever smelled. Anyway, there’s tons of cool perfume makers out there with much more interesting work & who also don’t say absolutely horrid things online :/

The best part of this all—no, fascist, megalomaniac, and racist Trump-supporting white supremacists will ~not~ wear this fragrance. Nor will they wear the rest of the trash in the collection. They are not aesthetes; in fact, they are radically opposed to aestheticism, full stop. They want to see art die. This is what happens when you want to have your cake and eat it, too. SDW has co-opted space from olfactory aestheticism, presenting the ultimate mirage and trojan horse. But those eventually crumble. So, wear it on your chest. Your perfume now represents a lie, inseparable from oppression, racism, homophobia, transphobia, the whole lot. Your perfume smells like darkness, and not the good kind of darkness. It smells like a collapse of a nation's values, a collapse of progress, an embrace of hate—proud hate. It is a shame SDW co-opted space in the niche perfume industry. Not for us, of course, but for her: the olfactory memory is by far the strongest. Good luck, SDW.

I purchased these before knowing anything about her and still wanted to try them out since I'm getting a feel for what I like and don't like in fragrance. And I definitely do not like this one. There's something about it that just feels sickly sweet, like a very artificial and unnatural sort of sweetness that's incredibly off putting to me. That and the incense note just feels... cheap. The longer I wore it the move overwhelming it got, and I genuinely think I'm going to have to shower to get the scent off of me because it's so overwhelming. My friend told me it smelt like a man, I said it smells like an old woman, but either way its just... too much for me.

I got samples before I learned of her intolerance to gays, black and brown people, and women. So my reaction has nothing to do with her disappointing proclivities. I sprayed a test strip with Incarnate and I gagged. It was steeped in synthetic, poorly balanced, and way too loud smells. I don’t understand the positive reviews because it’s genuinely gross. I had to dispose of the sample and the test strip to keep from gagging again.

Yes, SDW destroyed her brand with the typical social media edge lord garbage. I personally didn’t care for the scent. If you do like it but don’t want to support the brand, scroll back to the top and check out what else the creator, Yann Vasnier, has done. He has a very impressive resume and I enjoy a good deal of his work. He shouldn’t suffer just because the brand owner is icky.

So upset that i bought this perfume from a b!g0t, "Scout Dixon West'' is a racist, homophobic, misogynistic, etc. and seemingly smug which is present in her online presence. I wish i was able to get my money back. Sad to see this perfume go to waste since i refuse to wear it at this point due to the listed reasons above.
