Espresso Royale

This is definitely a gorgeous fragrance! The closest other fragrance I can totally compare this one with is Ava Luxe Cafe Noir, except in Cafe Noir the dry down is not as good and I can't wear it because of that reason ( gives me a headache ). Expresso Royale is by far the best " Coffee " fragrance I've ever tried and it's the closest to the smell of actual expresso but with a sweet side, before I used to think that Cafe Noir was the best one till I tried this one. This is a very foodie gourmand, it's very sweet and the smell of coffee lasts throughout the whole time, beginning to end, this is exactly what I was looking for in other coffee fragrances but never got it. There is one down side to this one, at least for me, there is one annoying note somewhere in the base, it is the Rum not that kind of ruins it for me and it makes the fragrance give out a bit of a medicinal smell, but besides for that it's perfect. I would say that this is a personal fragrance, something to wear at home for your self, not something I would wear out, but you can wear it out, it will probably attract all the coffee addicts to you :P I'm kind of in the middle about purchasing a full bottle, it's definitely full bottle worthy to my opinion and if you are a lover of coffee and foodie gourmands, then you should definitely give this one a try. EDIT: My recommendation is STOCK UP, get it while the formula is still new and incredibly good, before they get really famous, it becomes a classic and they will water it down, like some other famous perfume makers ( cough cough Montale I'm not at all talking about you :O )

Sebastiane Espresso Royale is the only fragrance I've tried from the line, mainly due to its reputation is a good coffee scent. It is certainly bold and smells primarily of coffee. The supporting notes are difficult to decipher. It's not significantly sweet (as with vanilla) or boozy (as with rum) but rather mainly coffee. It's not as boozy as Sensei by Piotr Czarnecki, not as sweet as Bond No. 9 New Haarlem, and not as patchouli-laden as Thierry Mugler Pure Coffee. Rather, it's mainly a sharp coffee smell, like an espresso itself, mixed with slightly elements of cocoa. Cocoa is the sweetness that I get out of it. In that respect, the coffee/rum/cocoa combination yields a fair likening to Tiramisu, though certainly its incarnation is less sweet than the dessert item itself. Projection and longevity are strong even for an EDP, so at $85 (plus shipping) for 60ml on Indiescents (a site with which I am not very familiar), it seems like a reasonable deal. This is certainly powerful enough that it should probably be reserved for cold weather situations exclusively. I'd be remiss not to compare this to another purported top coffee-dominant scent, Barista by Legendary Fragrances, which I liked very much. Espresso Royale is definitely overall stronger in terms of concentration and projection, and evokes a blacker, more acidic, perhaps even more burnt coffee smell. In terms of blend, I give the edge to Barista slightly. In terms of boldness, Espresso Royale is the clear winner, though. A great try and deserving of attention especially by coffee lovers. 8 out of 10

This is possibly the best coffee scent on the market. Where New Haarlem doesn't give you enough coffee and where Café Noir maybe too much this falls right in the middle. Now I will argue if you want pure coffee Ava Luxe's Café Noir is probably the best, the problem is that is so much of coffee that it is the epitome of a gourmand (now I love it so I ain't complaining but you really have to love the smell of coffee beans to appreciate it). New Haarlem touches on coffee but is more on the dessert side. This one gives you the right amount of coffee and the right amount of other supporting notes (caramel and Tonka) to make this one the most wearable coffee fragrance that I have experienced. This is like drinking a freshly brewed dark roast coffee with caramel syrup while nibbling on a nice piece of freshly baked gingerbread or snickerdoodle cookies. It open and closes a little on the sweet side with the coffee preventing it from becoming like New Haarlem and minus the screeching patchouli note that bothers many in New Haarlem. Again I have a dab so I can't call out the project or the longevity, from the vial both seemed very high. I literally started to thirst for coffee and want to snack on something sweet while wearing this. Versatility is low as again you have to like foody scents, particularly coffee and cookies. This is more of a cool fall day winter scent. I don't know about office wear maybe if you are brave. This is artistic with being completely wearable. Bravo

Sebastiane Espresso Royale (SER) is really a very nice coffee fragrance that lasts 10-hours on my skin and projects slightly better than average on my skin . This fragrance is an oily little bugger--much like some of my heavy oud fragrances--and will easily go 24+ hours when applied on clothing. It's a unique natural smelling fragrances that I truly like and appreciate. I can see how some folks love this fragrance but for me (right now) it's a solid like for two reasons: first, I prefer a coffee scent that smells more like black coffee (Dunkin Donuts would be my standard) and less like a Starbucks Espresso and, second, SER is a very thick/heavy fragrance that is not very lovable in the summer heat. I look forward to wearing this fragrance in the Fall/Winter and perhaps even falling in love with it. Still, SER delivers as promised...it is a terrific, and realistic, coffee scent and the name Espresso Royale fits. However, this fragrance does not smell like freshly brewed coffee, per se, it smells like espresso that has been diluted with cream and sweet crap that should never, ever be in coffee (that's a coffee flavored milkshake). Would love to see caramel and hazelnut removed from this fragrance, but that's my preference. Regardless, if you're a coffee fragrance lover then you gotta check this one out, for sure!

Without a doubt this is the best representation of coffee. I have tried about 15 coffee based scents and none come close to this! It does have some sweetness and booziness to add character. Let's face it, straight up coffee would be boring as hell! The sillage just about fills a room for about 4-5 hours and is average after that. Longevity is easily in the 8+ hour range. Stop wasting time and money on stuff like MJ Legend and Givenchy Play Intense if you want the perfect coffee scent!

I've been trying to find a nice coffee scent and this one is lovely. While New Harlaam is more syrupy and A*Men more medicinal, this one opens with a strong blast of freshly brewed bitter espresso. Within 30 minutes, it moves into a spicey sweet chai latte with a dusting of cinnamon over the espresso shot. If you like your coffee drinks (and want to smell like one), this is a must try. Unfortunately, it does not last very long on my skin, nor project much after 2-3 hours.

I adore the coffee/caramel/rum smell. It's so divine! Oh I could eat it - drink it!! It's so wonderful; so comforting. So delicious. I love it love it love it. It's the most gorgeous coffee I've ever smelt! Oh goodness. I can't say how much I love it! And it lasts well, and I get many compliments too, and my husband loves it. Mmmmm...... Perfect!! Edit: I just love this more and more!!! Every time I wear it, I fall more and more in love!! It's DIVINE!!!

Totally in love with this one! Coffee as in Ethiopia (where i worked for a corrupt NGO :-(). In Ethiopia they first burn the coffee, than pop the popcorn and burn a little insence. Because they all knewed that i love Tej (honeywine) i had to drink allways Tej/honeywine with dark coffee with lots of sugar and eat popcorn. This perfume remembers me of this lovely warm coffee ceremony! Ah, it is not for sale in Europe...:-(

I have tried several coffee fragrances thoughout the years and espresso royale is by far my favorite, it's sweet without being cloying it's warm and spicy and perfect for the fall/winter months. You only need 2-3 sprays of this it's projects very well for 3 hours and last 8-10 hours on my skin, I highly recommend this one to anyone who is into coffee fragrances and wants to try something unique and different rating 10/10

Such a well blended scent! Smells exactly like a coffeehouse with the right amount of booziness. A great fragrance, and suitable for all occasions if you ask me. Cozy and relaxing. I can't think of anyone who wouldn't like Espresso Royale (except for the rare folks who despise coffee, though I haven't met any of the sort). Must be one of the best coffee fragrances out there. This would be a safe blind buy. 9.5/10

I see what folk mean about lack of depth but I still love it. Yes, it is linear on me. A potent, slightly boozy nut/coffee syrup fragrance. That sentence implies that it is very sweet. It is a gourmand heaven but not too sweet a fresh cup of coffee one. Just a sniff gives you a caffeine hit lol Better than Bond 9 New Haarlam as less sweet and a more real coffee note. Moderate sillage and longevity

As far as gourmand fragrances go this is STUNNING! An absolute winner for gourmand, coffee and sweet unisex fragrance fans. For myself, I can take ONE spray to the chest and that will do me. This is BEASTLY from the start. I find it can be slightly cloying so you really have to like sweet coffee scents to enjoy this. Overall I really like it. Try before you buy... otherwise Enjoy!

@MrsPress - I can only assume the Sebastiane brand in no longer in the perfume business because the webpage doesn't work and the domain is available for sale on Go Daddy. Moreover, I couldn't find Sebastiane Parfume carried anywhere - not even Indie Scents. Shame, because I wouldn't mind having a backup of Espresso Royale and perhaps one or two others.

I love this stuff! It's like eating warm ginger-molasses cookies, with caramel drizzled lightly over them, while sipping on a cup of dark roast coffee spiked with a rich aged rum. Potent, intoxicating and definitely unisex. Slightly gourmand, but those opposed to foody perfumes can still appreciate this fragrance.

A wonderful scent. I love love love it. Coffee sparkles with spicy rum in a warm scent that would work all year around. Moderate sillage, and it clings to my skin all day long. Even 12 hours later, I can still smell the undertones.

Hazelnut coffee with caramel just underneath. Pushes the edge of cloying without going over. 2-3 sprays is all you need and it lasts all day. A winner.

So rich, yummy and divine! The best coffee gourmand out there! Compliments all the time wearing this! 10/10

FINALLY! Just got my bottle for a split I'm hosting. This is the 1st coffee frag I've not been utterly disappointed with, after trying at least 8 good quality ones that are raved about. This ACTUALLY smelled like brewing coffee, with a boozy, caramelized sugar edge at first and a delightful booze quality (reminds me of that note in Coquin Guerlain). Super tasty, and added + for me: the spray is oilier vs drier spray (alcoholic), so I bet the added moisture will lend it better longevity. ETA: in HOT weather the oil in this seems to come forward over the notes, annoyingly. I'll save it just for cool weather I suppose, guess it'll go on back burner for now til fall comes around again. The heat gives it that oil base undertone a lot of indie oils have, a cheap vanilla fixative smell similar to vanilla candle wax. This was clearly meant to be only for the cold.

Another fragrance I got because I wanted to try some coffee fragrances, and this one is sooo yummy. It opens with some heady rum notes but quickly goes into something that smells like a sweet hazelnut and caramel latte (not much espresso). The further it gets towards the drydown, it gets more and more burnt (in a great way) and ends up smelling a lot like gingerbread in the end, which makes it a perfect Christmas-time gourmand where everything smells natural and does not come off as cloying at all (and I'm not a big gourmand fan!). If you like the notes, then it's a safe buy, because that's basically what you get. VERY oily fragrance that lasts a long time too.

The three main players for me, coffee, caramel and hazelnut. I don’t really get booziness in the opening. The coffee in this is divine, the caramel giving it sweetness and depth like a nice caramel latte. The hazelnut is nice, but it does give it a hint of bitterness that cuts through the sweetness. To be honest that’s not a bad thing, it keeps the sweetness at a level I like. This is a beautiful gourmand frangrance.

VEry-very strong, it this case it could be easily dilluted to en EdP concentration, ONE SPRAY is enough. Having said that, this is the BEST coffee fragrance. I know many folks like Akro, but Akto is a sour brewed coffee. Espresso Royale is more of espesso scent, with a sweet coffee liquor. Gorumand coffee. I can see why this is the best seller of the brand. Well crafted and reasonably priced.

Very comforting, warm and cozy scent..alittle boozy and sweet grounded by that very inviting coffee scent. To smell this on paper or out of the bottle is very nice but its no something that I would typically where on my skin. Its not a ding towards the fragrance, its just not for my skin. I would actually love this in a candle an a brisk snowy day! Ciao.

Interesting. On me it smells like those little hard coffee candles with liquid in the middle? A friend brought us some back from Turkey I believe it was. Yummy, sweet. But not exactly what I was looking for. It's more a coffee flavored candy or liquer scent than a warm steam mug of coffee in the morning.

I get more of a spiced rum smell to than coffee. Very boozy, unique, and pleasant. Not in your face. Good winter scent.

There are a few things I would like to say about this fragrance. I love the concept, and the espresso note is pretty much spot on imo. Firstly, the fragrance is so strong, it overwhelms my entire house whenever I apply a single spray. My housemates could be on the other side of the house & will smell it. The other day, I was in a separate room, and it hit me like a brick wall. I walked over to my perfume room & asked my housemate "espresso royale?" and he said "yeah, it was an accident. I meant to grab a different one". I spent the rest of the day with the scent wafting through the house. So, use it very sparingly. On another note, for some reason, this perfume makes me VERY itchy & kind of burns when applied to skin. My housemate also said the same. I also applied some to a friend's arm at one point, and he corroborated this also, so it doesn't seem to be just me. I hope it isn't a batch issue, since I haven't seen any other reviews mention this. Because of this, I will probably rarely, if ever, wear this fragrance out. If I do, I'll be sure to only apply it sparingly to my clothing. With all that said, when ordering this fragrance, my communications with Robert were very pleasant, and he seems like a very helpful & friendly person. Despite my experience with the fragrance, I'm happy to support Robert as a perfumer & respect the scent as an art piece, and how he was able to achieve such an accurate smell. Well done on that part!

Another coffee fragrance that barely smells of coffee. What else is new? The only coffee I get in this is maybe the first hour. And thats being very lenient with the time frame. Whats more its hidden in the background between a to me personally pretty pungent sorta nostril stingy smell. That the closest thing I can think of is.... Gingersnaps.. Or at least some kinda cookie thing like that. And personally I dont like it. Reading the reviews im not the only one that gets this. For what its worth if you like the smell, obviously this is competitively priced niche for sure. And in terms of performance for what I put on it also did well. Although id also like to mention the tidbit as I saw it mentioned in other reviews before as well. This is a very noticeably sticky fragrance when you put it on, so I assume there is a very high chance of it staining your clothes so youve been warned. Not for me. And so goes on my search for the ultimate coffee/shop fragrance....~

Love the smell of coffee and rum, also hazelnuts and caramel - but I really don’t like this. Extreme whiff of coffee as its sprayed on but when on my skin I just loose that smell, then what I guess must be the Tonka beans, as that is all that’s left. Way too heavy and strong, so not me. So, so disappointed as I really wanted to like this. An expensive mistake, but now know I don’t like Tonka beans in large quantities. A headache inducing Odour, that is heading my husband’s way.

I ́d wondered about this scent for quite some time because of the hype, but I ́m very disapointed. It doesn ́t smell like freshly ground beans or of freshbrewed coffee. It smells like the synthetic, sugary coffee syrups, that coffee-chains have to add to your milkymoccawhateverlatte : overly sweet, overly "coffee" (like banana-sweets don ́t taste like banana). Awful! It only does that, smell like bad coffeesyrup. 1-dimensional.. 2/10

More masculine than feminine, it really does smell of coffee but it was not what I personally expected or was looking for. The opening is very intense powdered roasted -close to burnt- coffee bean mixed with coffee liqueur. And that stage lasts and lasts. The drydown is more smooth but these top notes made it unwearable for me. I Think it may smell beautiful on a man though.

This smells like potpourri on me. Like I rubbed a bowlful of dried flowers and fruit. It's very strong, and oddly enough, the sample I tried that urged me to buy it had a coffee scent. The perfume I bought does not.

Lacks depth. I would call it a students try to play a perfumer. Not bad as the very first try, but to call it "perfume" is rather brave.

Smells like burnt gingerbread men and dark roast coffee beans.

Espresso Royale paints an evocative mental picture for me. A cozy independent coffee shop, perhaps a transformed industrial building with exposed piping and bare, minimalistic walls adorned with big, plush, deep-seated chairs occupied by college students reading Sartre or Dostoievski. The smell of doppio ristrettos lingers in the air. I can’t have anything too high in sugar, but I’ve been good all year (and I packed an extra Metformin that morning), so I walk up to the counter and browse their selection, scribbled out in chalk on a board that spans the back wall. I tell the barista what I want, and stand idly by taking in the mise en scene. He yells out “Caramel hazelnut macchiato for John!” I’m thrown out of my trance, pick up my drink, throw a sly smile at him, and sit down in one of those big, inviting chairs. It’s very rare that a scent can paint such a distinct image, but this is what comes to mind the several times that I’ve worn Espresso Royale. The top note is rum. The middle notes are coffee, hazelnut, and caramel. The base note is tonka bean. I think Robert is being a little coy with the notes here, but I can forgive him that. Forced to classify, I would call this the king of all potable gourmands. For me, the notes sort of all pop up simultaneously, but not in a confusing or indiscernible way. Everything has its place. The coffee is just as much on the top as the sweet rum. (After all, this is a splurge, right?) There are also hints of something citrusy, like the orange in Grand Marnier. I also think I detect the barest hint of either cinnamon or clove, or perhaps both – something highly aromatic and spicy. Everything sits on a bed of sweet, vanillic tonka. If you’re a coffee scent lover, this is winter in a bottle. I’ll reiterate here what I said earlier about the staying power and sillage in my review of Black Magic: both are quite high. When you apply to your skin, take a look at your skin. It almost looks like you’ve applied baby oil. This is due to the unusually high concentration of natural oils, and subsequently the scent lasts hours longer than you think it might – well over eight. It might even be a better idea to daub this with a glass stopper instead of applying full sprays, due to the intense oiliness – and as much as I would be tempted to spray it on fabric, I wouldn’t for fear that it might stain. Final thoughts? There are big, expensive niche houses known for their coffee scents that are more than happy to charge three to four times what Royal Espresso costs, and we all know who they are. I’ve tried half a dozen of them. While they’re usually advertised as “coffees,” coffee is usually a supporting role at best. Espresso Royale is a coffee given the respect it is due, with a pedestal all its own. The supporting cast doesn’t get in the way of the coffee, but rather lets it sing even more. I would put this up to New Haarlem by Bond No. 9, or Intoxicated by By Kilian any day.

Oh no no... This is not for me in any way.. I actually had to scrub it off after 5 minutes, this turns my stomace a bit. I really hate the smell when someone forget the coffe pot for a long time and the coffe that is left get burnt in the bottom, that smell I recognize immediately and I feel sick from it, I usually open the doors and windows at my workplace when this happens. This perfume (if you can call this a perfume) is very similar to that burnt smell and also like a gingerbread cookie that is burnt black in the oven. I'm glad to see that some people enjoy this as a scent but I had to throw the sample in the bin. I wouldn't even give it to someone for free because i can't recommend this. It's bitter, dark, burnt and sweet in a bad way...I'm a coffe drinker and love the smell of roasted coffebeans and freshly brewed coffee, but this unfortunately smell nothing like that.

Amazing fall scent! This is tantalizing, warm, yummy and rich! What a great make-you-feel-good perfume! Normally I don't pursue coffee as a note in my scents (I love it now - who knew?!), but this is so incredible - between the coffee, the hazelnut, the rum and the caramel, and some phantom cinnamon that I think I smell, I have fallen in love with this. It is warm and comforting, and makes you excited over the change in the seasons and the cool nights ahead! Gorgeous! Perfect for autumn! I recommend getting some right away so that you can enjoy those perfect fall days coming up! Moderate sillage and lasts all day on my skin.

fubar1963 is absolutely spot on, only I don't really get coffee/espresso from this. I smell ginger molasses cookies and spiced rum for sure. I'm not blown away by this, and it's a very thin fragrance. And what I mean by that is, it's not complex, layered, and rich so I wouldn't say it's much of a gourmand although it kinda sounds like one going by the notes. sort of reminds me of Demeter fragrances, their Black Russian scent specifically (which i own, but hate) ...but quality on this is alot better and nicer.

Got my sample from indiescent.com- its a tonka heavy freshly brewed dark coffee frag..on my skin rum was weak however the coffee note was just the way I like to smell in coffee houses..tonka gives its creaminess and also gingerbread vibe...very authentic note of dark coffee and well done imo. Projection on heavy side and whih means its winner for colder day. 9/10

I recently sampled this fragrance and I'm so lucky I did. It was god awful. Lacked quality, lacked depth and smelled like old coffee grounds. I would highly recommend Sensei for men or Sensei for women. Both of these fragrances far surpass this designer juice. I was very disappointed with Espresso Royale. Not worth the money. Pass! 3 out of 10 rating

This time I decided to purchase perfume from the official site sebastianeparfume.com 60 ml for $85. This is the best coffee fragrance I have tried till now. Gives me the ambience of cafes with special touches I can not describe. Just my disappoint it smells a little bit sweety

Scent - caramel, hazelnut, tonka bean & ground coffee. Season/Time of Day - I prefer to use this one in the colder months, day or night. Projection - I did get noticed, it garners compliments. Longevity - I get 8hrs consistently.

i have tested this fragrance and this is the best coffee scent on the market today rich, gourmand , and sofistacted at the same time if you are loocking for this type of scent put your nose on this gemm (MASTERPIECE) 9.5/10

This one is dominated by the coffee note with the other notes creating the foundation upon which it rests. Very nice fragrance but very potent. This is my first full wearing and 3-4 spritzes are a couple too many.

I'm a coffee addict , and this this is not an espresso smell ( not that I one i use anyway ) . it's more like Pure coffee candy .. interesting smell , but I wouldn't (wear ) it as a perfume .

second time 'round i like it much more. bitter caffeine and balancing/leveling booziness with the added sweetness of the chestnut and caramel...it's warming on me...

Oh my god, this is the only scent I've smelled that actually smells of coffee. Add in the rum and you got an intoxicating fragrance. 10/10!

very warm, smooth, yummy scent that smells delicious without being too heavy. great for layering with natural cacao butter (lotion) too

Opening is good..Reminds very much of a nice coffee served at the coffee houses. After that, slowly the scent turns skanky..bitter kind

@Kaylovely this has way more coffee; Black Phantom has the coffee, but it’s subtle, and more boozy (on my skin anyway)
