I recall that in my childhood home, we had powder blue porcelain in our bathroom, including our bathtub. My Mom would give me bubble baths using the Avon Bubble Bath with its distinct rounded, bubble-edged bottles. We'd either have fresh green or soft pink, and I recall their overall scent and the texture, and man, did they really suds up the tub, perfect for pretending there were glaciers for my toy tugboat to navigate through gallantly. Mom also would use Revlon Aquamarine, and I remember I actually made a little song out of it while taking a bath, "Aquamarine...silly jean...aquamarine you're so clean." Dent de Lait, with its peculiar yet alluring aldehydic yet lactonic feel, takes me back to the overall sensory experience of bath time as a kid (sorry Mr. Sheldrake, it doesn't evoke memories of losing a baby tooth). I perceive what I believe to be Adoxal in the top notes: somewhat rosy, aqueous, metallic, reminiscent of fresh linen. Of course I could be wrong, but I am convinced it was used, and this is the first time I've encountered it where I actually love its use (unlike Byredo M/Mink, which is a bit terrifying). This is accompanied by a silvery mauve sensation of heliotrope that grows milkier and rounder into the heart, softened with a marzipan. A cool, but not cold atmosphere, contrasting with the milk of human kindness; after all, we are bathing in a warm tub! There are undertones of incense and minerals—the treble of olibanum not yet ignited, without any of its ambery, resinous hues. The heliotrope grows more powdery and soapy, soothing like a soft towel after one's bath. It's pajama time, off to bed, and a comforting blanket clean and tucked in. In the dry down, Dent de Lait wishes sweet dreams to you and your teddy bear.

I would have preferred to test Dent de Lait before reading its press release, different reviews and comments; even before knowing its name... The prejudice is like a vile revenge that is hard to get rid of and opinions referring to metallic notes and to the smell of blood unfortunately had done their job. Fortunately I tested it and my opinion based only on the comments of others ended up in the bin. I smelled the mouillette and my wrist where I had sprayed the perfume and I’ll tell you – Dent de Lait is a beautiful perfume. It is clean and musky, slightly sour in the opening, but lays in tender powdery base, like a touch of baby’s skin. The metallic notes listed are nothing else than sparkling aldehydes, not heavy or soapy, but fresh and frizzy. There is nothing salty that could conduct to the idea of blood. Whole composition bases on soft cloud of almonds, heliotrope and white musk. The name – Dent de Lait - is metaphorical inviting us to reflect on our childhood, on the loss of innocence and the awareness acquired over the years. Serge says: “It’s like a wolf who passes from the taste of milk to the taste of blood”. We lose our teeth and we lose our childhood. By child we all dream to grow up faster, but growing up hurts, awareness hurts, being an adult hurts. And this contrast between milky powdery innocence and bitter shade of consciousness is presented in this wonderful fragrance created by Christopher Sheldrake and Serge Lutens. The only thing I feel pity about is the new packaging - 100ml - it's just ugly for me.

a pearled marble trinket dish filled with cotton. hugging scraped knees in a milkbath. tears trailing down buccal pillows. grey, periwinkle, white. neurotic in a bathroom. hunched over the sink in silent tête-à-tête with a burnished mirror's reflection, cursing the likeness with a busted lip and swollen gums. the sterility of cold ivory tiles. lace curtains cascading with glum clouds behind. lukewarm water. initially bleachy and chlorinic, this soon gives way to heliotropic powder and creamy almonds providing a semi-sweet lactonic base: milk candies and blood stains. there is a metallic undercurrent of sterile, cold stainless steel, as opposed to dingy orange rust a la 'secretions magnifiques.' a tinge of blood, faint and human, not unnerving, like being nicked by a razorblade in the tub as fanciful frothy hotel soap sting the wounds, watching red clouds form in bathwater. forlorn memories of bleached porcelain, riz au lait, the four humors, and suds. have you ever cried sitting at the bottom of a shower as minimal synth played from a phone speaker? cold, soapy, metallic, soft. songs for dent de lait: dream for your bathwater by terror bird, tenderface by victrola, everybody's night by deux, doctors + nurses by earth's epitaph.

This is a masterpiece, albeit a strange one. This is aldehydes like I have never smelled before. Extremely clean and soapy and very pleasant- yet sharp and out of place in a perfume bottle. I spray this on my bed and clothes and my home smells AMAZING – like walking into a very clean home – and I feel like I am cheating at cleaning. On the skin, this is not for the weak- think Byredo Blanche but 10x the intensity, with more floral projection. I think people who say this smells like blood or milk are taking the literal translation a bit too far- baby teeth or milk teeth is not what this actually smells like- but it is a moment in time for the perfumer of his childhood spaces (hence baby teeth). For any of us who grew up in another country- this is that same nostalgia- that sharp soap, the coldness of clean concrete floors mopped with some ungodly oil to make them shine, clothes handwashed in sharp soap and left out to dry in the summer. I believe this is discontinued so you should try to get your hands on it- I will be honest I did not understand it at first, but after wearing it a few times I absolutely love it- I crave smelling it as I have never smelled anything like it.

I got this perfume back in 2022 as a gift to myself for making it through the winter. I read many a review suggesting that it was bloody and strange and that pretty much sold it for me. I recall that on my first spray, I wasn't super impressed - I wanted to smell more metallic and threatening. This perfume was powdery and clean smelling in a really strange way and I didn't know how to feel about it. What I was looking for was something that reeked of malevolence, suggestive of my very real ability to rend flesh from bone (which is a regular part of my job). Initially I got impressions of an intense cleanness and innocence - it was soft and lovely without cutesy sugary notes. However, it's grown on me. That "clean" note is fresh and soft, with just the tiniest bit of metal if you really concentrate on it. It's almost as if you've been bleeding, and just took the time to wash up with a delightful white bar of a fine hotel soap. While it is lowkey and wearable, there is indeed a note of that malevolence I sought within this scent. Despite its simplicity, it's made a huge impression on me.

Very interesting scent. I don’t discern blood but top notes for me resemble a bright and shiny violet. Which “feels” like it’s made of a shiny and transparent cellophane. Very strong and “there” with a clean musky background. Almost like L’Eau Froide and Laine de Verre were overlaid across other notes. At this point it’s very clean, floral (laundry musks and bright violet shading to heliotrope notes). Glassy and powdery. Reminds me of childhood baths in winter surrounded by freshly laundered towels and then anointed with my Dads Old Spice talc and aftershave behind the ears (perhaps I was an unusual girl child :) ). The powder and violet settles and a warm, soft musk appears. Comforting and clean. Giving the feeling of sharpness remembering those comforting childhood memories softened by the veil of time perhaps. I actually am very much enjoying this. But then, I love these quirky Lutens and have no beef with clean scents or the gymnastics you perform when wearing them. Great for winter when you want to wear something that matches the weather or spring/summer to juxtapose it.

“I'm talking about something very far from the tooth and coin fairy that slides under the pillow. Here, the loss of your first tooth is like an initiation that marks the end of childhood and the beginning of the age of reason. It's when the blood merges with the milk." Serge Lutens. Olfactory memory, also known as Proust syndrome, accompanies the human being from his first breath: olfactory reminiscences that excite us, pamper us in memory and/or disturb us due to a negative experience. The area of the brain that processes the olfactory experience is connected to the limbic system which magically contains our entire olfactory history. This delicate and lactonic fragrance with a sometimes metallic evolution, immersed in a pervasive background of heliotrope and mystical and purifying incense, triggers attractive and contrasting emotions at the same time. I consider it a psychological olfactory experience that deserves to be lived.

Lovely perfume with an innocent charm. My first encounter with it was on a cold day in March, at the busy Shiseido store in Ginza. For me, Dent de lait is a memory from Japan and embodies the perfect image of Japanese girls, with their smooth complexions and innocent smiles, heroically wearing skirts in Winter-like weather. Cold weather is actually what I associate with the metallic note that is only slightly present, just looming somewhere in the background of this cozy, soothing, milky fragrance that I cannot get enough of. :) Don't be misled by the name of the fragrance or by the amount of dislikes. If you're lucky, it won't be challenging and you shouldn't wear it if you want to be noticed - however I'm sure that anyone coming close will detect a niche quality right away, as this isn't the typical sugary almond that you find in stores everywhere.

One of my first thoughts wearing this was, “I hope my hospice nurse wears this perfume.” After a few more wears, I think I might actually make it a dying request. For me, this smells like a freshly bathed, powdered child running through an angelically clean house - windows open, clear light streaming in, flowers on the breeze, clouds in a painfully blue sky - but as if in a dream, or maybe something half-remembered. It lasts around 6-8hrs for me and is a pleasant scent to catch throughout the day. Not quite what I had envisioned off reviews as I was really hoping to get more of a bloody/metallic scent, but for me it is entirely entrancing regardless. Eerie in a comforting way. I can definitely see it as a “grandmotherly” scent, and a loved one said it reminded him of an older aunt.

Dent de Lait by Serge Lutens, released in 2017 by Christopher Sheldrake, isn’t your usual fragrance—it’s different and a bit strange. It’s named “Milk Tooth” because it blends creamy almond milk with a metallic twist, like the odd feeling of losing a tooth as a kid. It’s comforting yet has an offbeat edge, sweet but with a touch of something unsettling. This scent isn’t trying to win everyone over, and that's what makes it interesting. Some love its soft, whispery vibe, while others find the metallic note too weird. But if you like a fragrance that’s more about telling a story than just smelling nice, Dent de Lait does that well. It's unique, and it’s one of those scents that you wear when you’re in the mood for something thoughtful and a bit out there.

This grew on me - big time. At first it was too strong, too soapy. I would spray it on my couch and sheets and loved the smell, but did not love it on my skin. Come early spring, I fell in love with Byredo Blanche- that aldahydic fresh soapy scent that just smells clean- so I tried it again. I LOVE IT. At first it is that soapy metallic blast, but then it settles into soft clean skin, a bit powdery, those beautiful aldehydes, something green- and it is just stunning. It reminds me of a very clean house- with open windows and lots of sunshine with white gauzy curtains blowing in the breeze. I love Serge Lutens- some of the fragrances need a little time to grow on you but when they do- there is nothing like them.

Blind bought. Hated it then absolutely loved it. At first smell it is shockingly different- very soapy and sharp. I decided to use it as a room spray and I would leave and come back in and be intoxicated by the smell. I tried it on skin a few times then absolutely fell in love with it- and am actually scared to use it because it is so hard to find. This is the sharpest aldehydic scent I own- even more than Blanche- and it has a spice to it that just commands attention. Very elegant, unique, fresh- VERY FRESH- aldehyde bomb of a fragrance that fades into a spectacular skin scent after about 5 hours. Absolutely worth the blind buy shock of this.

After reading all the reviews, I was a bit hesitant to try this fragrance. I was expecting something weird: a mix of blood and milk with hints of sweetness. But it turned out to be a completely different experience. To me, Dent de Lait is a sweet, shampoo-like scent with a hint of flowers and a soft almondy touch. If I sniff hard enough, I can detect something vaguely lactonic, but I don’t pick up anything metallic. Overall, it’s a very clean and delicate fragrance with a touch of sweetness. I can definitely see it being a great everyday scent that could suit pretty much anyone, although some people might say it leans more femenine.

The metallic edge and weirdness does not take away from the lactonic, sweet and agreeable nature of the perfume! It's wearable. I was terrified to try it after reading the extremely polarizing reviews, as someone with a sensitive nose who has a total aversion to sweet milky perfumes. I think this perfume swept away any preconceived notions or scent memory I had. It's delicate, it projects, its not nauseating. How is it everything at once? Not milky like the gross, vanilla drenched marshmallows they have a Sephora that demand hand over fist for you to smell like a sweaty pastry chef. This is too beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kenzo Flower and Escada Sentiment had a baby and she's cuddly and pretty. Not very edgy, but more sweet instead. She has somewhat of a vintage vibe, and likes to dabble in vintage makeup, but never too much powder. She's evocative of a floral pastry, slightly sweet, yet also salty. She's enjoyed with a metal fork. Your cheeks pucker and mouth waters when you first taste her. You wash her down with a side of very mild tasting almond milk. Chris Sheldrake is one of my favorite perfumers. This is a rather safe creation for something from the house of Lutens. She was a blind buy and I'm not disappointed in the least

I was promised different with this one and it didn't disappoint... At first there's sharp metallic, nothing but sharp metallic. It smells very masculine. But then after a few minutes the almond and milk come through.. It instantly reminded me of being in the park as a kid with a vanilla ice-pop. It smelt like the wrapper and Those old metal solid swing bars, the ones all playgrounds had before health and safety went mad. And this slightly sweet note got gradually sweeter over time. The dry down is that..the smell of something milky and sweet, with a metallic zing.

Serge Lutens takes chances and it usually pays off. This is definitely one of those occasions. First impressions are soft but distinctive. I first get soft florals and metallic notes certainly leans more feminine but still unisex, then it fades and the incense takes over but still subtle and more masculine as you might imagine. My only complaint is I find myself applying it throughout the day because it doesn't last long but it is a great scent - perfect for a spring morning or a summer day.
- em inglês
LOOOOOVE Wow, this is the metallic, airy, skin scent you would not expect Lutens creates. A masterpiece of it's own kind, it belongs to another galaxy compared to the warm, woody, spicy, heavy signature fragrances of the Brand. This is a 180-degree move. Bold and angelic and amazing. This is to show and mock anyone who doubts how much more magic Maison Lutens offers. I am mesmerized. Love, just love. Pure air alchemy. Christopher Sheldrake did it again. 10/10 Pure magic divinity on my skin.

the story behind this scent is very strange i agree. milk teeth & blood... yeah, sounds disgusting, BUT imagine this: a cheap (doesn't mean bad smelling) creamy & a LITTLE BIT metallic SOAP. yes, SOAP! this is actually a very very safe CLEAN smell. creaminess = milk/almond, soft sweetness = heliotrope, metallic note = "blood". not disgusting at all. i like it. forget the crazy marketing story! just try this wonderful clean fragrance and judge it yourself! ;)
- em inglês
I get the metal and milk notes on my skin very prominently. This scent is like a cold version of Etat Libre d'Orange Ghost in the Shell. I can't help but compare the two. Beautiful, I love it. The incense is a bit shy in this one but comes through later on nonetheless. And I get the almond (but only a whisper). The florals are very faint on my skin (which is a blessing for me personally). A great scent for a soft cybergoth.
- em inglês
Blind bought full bottle after I saw the comments about psych-ward and dentist office. I've expected something unsetting and uncomfortable, but it's amazingly soft, clean and cold (not like "refreshing", but cold as metal). It smells like old Nivea can to me but lighter and with heliotrope. 100% great everyday perfume. Nothing milky or smoky, mostly metal and baby powder. Reminds me of Nikolai Musc intense (?), but softer.
- em inglês
SOAP. This is a "I forgot to rinse my shampoo out" type smell. I am on the lookout for that perfect lactonic scent- similar to DedCool Milk but stronger, and thought this was it due to the notes and name. It was not. Sharp, soapy, clean and strong. I don't hate it but I don't love it- but can make it work by layering with musks. If your mission is finding that soapy, just bathed in bar soap type scent- you will love it.
- em inglês
This is very much a fresh aldehydic heliotrop with a hint of cold from fridge almond yoghurt. Later I get a powdery breeze with just an imagined touch of incense on top of all. Genius combination. With much imagination I, as doctor, can get the impression of a freshly opened surgery set packed in desinfected cloth on which was blood. Not necessarily dentist. Fantastic creation! Totally wearable!
- em inglês
This is extremely tame. Do not worry about getting blood, it's barely there, and I doubt I would have smelled it at all if no one had mentioned it in the reviews. Incensed milk and almond, sweet and gingery and metallic. Extremely unique, and already a favorite. Still on my hunt for a bloody perfume though. If you like a gingerbread-y almond, or a metallic vanilla, this is that.
- em inglês
I was going to buy a full bottle but based on the reviews I only purchased the purse spray. Also, too many blind buys have lead me to regrets. I will be going back for the full bottle. This is so pretty. It is a nice clean floral that will be perfect for summer. I would not call this unisex, it leans feminine. It's cheerful, light and so pretty. Love it.
- em inglês
Unexpectedly love this as a wearable scent! I was expecting something not super wearable but nonetheless artistic and interesting but this is a symphony of opposites that somehow work. Powdery yet with sharp metallic notes with sweet, nutty undertones. Very pleasantly surprised. Performance and sillage both very decent!
- em inglês
Smells like a milk bath! And quite a bit like a DOVE soap bar. I imagine big fluffy foamy white bubbles... Apart from the peculiar name of the scent and the visuals, the scent itself is not challenging at all. Just smells like a creamy milky soap with cherry top Notes!
- em inglês
It smells clean like soap. I feel the storyline leaves a bad taste in one’s mouth, literally. However there is no ‘blood’ note. It’s just a creamy dove soap kinda of scent! I do detect something that smells a bit like hot steam sauna. Might be the incense?
- em inglês
This is beautiful! So, so simple and complex at the same time. It smells like facts, statistics, no distractions. Somehow surgical, but also evokes the feeling that everything is going to be alright. I imagine Trafalgar Law wearing this.
- em inglês
Makes me want to put on a breakcore mixtape to dissociate. Aldehydic, sterilized, yet melancholic. Easy to wear if this fits your aesthetic. One of my favorites. 9/10 Incredible

My first fragrance, there will forever be a special place in my heart for this one. So interesting and addictive. A bit provocative and nostalgic for the right ones, I go wild

Dent de Lait opens on my skin with pristine almond and aldehyde. The almond here is at first slightly bitter, and mostly clean and blanched. The aldehyde doesn't appear overly metallic to my nose, but rather mineral, fizzy, even glassy, reminiscent of those in Laine de Verre. The whole is like white flaked almond in a crystal bowl. A honeyed milkiness, and a sweet-tart rosy powder soon emerge like a swirl, slowly devouring the distinct characteristics of almond and aldehyde, until all parts of Dent de Lait merge into an abstract, clean, rosy almond milky musky powder in the dry down, and remain so until it entirely fades away. The sillage is moderate to soft, and the longevity is around 8 hours on me. Dent de Lait is very much in line with Lutens' style in recent years, with clean, cold, metallic/mineral aldehyde and an abstract, streamlined evolution. After reading Sophie's review on Fragrantica, the rosy almond powder does remind me of Rahat Loukoum and Louve, but Dent de Lait in relation to those two, are more like La Religieuse compared to A La Nuit and Sarrasins. While the contrast between cold aldehyde, and suave almond and milky sweetness is genuinely intriguing to my nose, my main gripe towards Dent de Lait is its lack of depth and evolution in the dry down. Without any earthy, woody notes to keep up the intriguing dynamics of sharp and soft, the clean sweet powder appears monolithic and repetitive with time. Regarding the somewhat strange theme, Dent de Lait only interprets it metaphorically. Personally, I don't detect any animalic or salty notes to evoke blood. Hell, I even wore it to the dentist's one day, and still can't make a literal link. And the aldehyde here is simply too crystalline; for a more violent metallic note contrasting with gourmand notes, I think L'Artisan Parfumeur Amour Nocturne and Deliria, and Lutens' own Baptême du Feu might fare better. Therefore, if you enjoy the latest Lutens' style of clean, abstract, sweet musky powder and the glassy aldehyde, and would like a slightly more gourmand variation, I would encourage you to overlook the weird theme and give it a try. However, if you miss Lutens' previous dark, oriental style dearly, I'm afraid that Dent de Lait would probably not be able to bring any comfort.

If you’ve followed Serge Lutens for quite some time, you’ll be aware - or should be - that part of his and his brand’s aesthetic is that when it comes to conventions and doing what’s expected of him by loyal fans, general consumers, and the cogs in commercial wheel, Serge takes the position of IDGAF, as the kids would say. How else can you explain why he would give us a perfume that is a floral milky kid’s shampoo? Yep, that’s what he did with Dent de Lait. Although, as far as shampoos or bubble bath or the like go, I wish I had something in my shower shelf that smelled like this. It’s soapy, clean, and just downright fun in the most innocent and childlike way. A bracing aldehydic opening is like the physical rush felt when the first gallons of water erupt from the faucet - cold and shocking - instantly waking you up. The combo with adoxal gives a floral and laundered linen quality to it, while almonds and coconut give it the distinctly milky aspects of creamy unctuousness and highlighting the sweet and soapy musks. There is a very clean incense tendril running through it somewhere but it’s very hard to pin down, adding a somewhat resinous and mineralic shade. Expertly composed and not the least bit scratchy, sterile, or pushy in the way many soapy perfumes are. It’s a lovely and luxurious soap. Here’s the thing: I like Dent de Lait, I really do; every whiff I take puts a carefree smile of giggly joy on my face, but after a few hours - and indeed a few straight days - of wearing it, at some point I fall over the line and say “ok, that’s quite enough, I don’t want to smell of milky and floral bubblebath anymore.” This is a me problem, not the perfume’s problem. But, I still think it’s a valid point and postulation: how often and for how long do you really want to smell of a kid’s bubblebath and is that what you want people to smell on you? Someone out there is probably saying “heck yes, sign me up” and that’s great. Bravo. That person isn’t me. I had fun in the bathtub for a while, but at some point I inevitably want to get out of it. If only Serge Lutens made an actual soap out of this. I’d be sold in a second.

Okay, tried this one today. Have it on my arm as we speak. It's not as interesting as I thought it would be, I'm actually a bit disappointed in this - but it smells okay. I got a bit scared when I saw the metallic note, because that usually never works on me. But I actually don't get a very pronounced metallic note from this. Thankfully. What I do get is a feeling that reminds me a bit of static electricity - and that weird almost sparkling/crackling kind of sound it makes. Maybe this is the metallic notes in the perfume? Or maybe it actually is aldehydes. It smells a lot like it. Aldehydes + Metallic notes? Yes, we might have a winner. Dent de Lait opens with this sparkling/crackling feeling combined with the smell of baby powder and sweet milk (like breast milk). After about 10-15 minutes the initial "static electricity" thing goes away and I'm left with just the baby powder and the milk. It's a fairly sweet scent, very soft and, obviously, milky. There is something in the combination of the milkyness in this combined with that soft hint of incense in the background that smells a tiny bit similar to the drydown in La Religieuse, which I think is an interesting twist. It's like the two scents have this secret connection - like the sacred bond between Mother (La Religieuse) and Child (Dent de Lait). This discovery made this scent a bit more interesting to me, on a philosophical level. On my skin Dent de Lait keeps getting sweeter as it dries down, but it never smells too sweet, like a cake or a dessert. In the drydown the powderiness is gone, and the scent smells like a soft mixture of breast milk, vanilla and white musk - to my nose. It's a nice scent, it smells pleasant and rather comforting. But it's not a very interesting scent. It looks and sounds more intriguing than it actually is. We have smelled baby powder in perfumes before, and there is quite a few milky perfumes out there as well. Sillage is medium at first, but dries down to a rather soft skin scent. Longevity, on me, is about 5-6 hours.

This is an interesting fragrance. I get Milk and Floral notes right up front. I'm not getting a very big incense note, but if you look for it, you can catch it. There is a metallic note and the almond is very muted, but the almond note doesn't smell natural. It's very odd, but when smell this, I get a aluminum foil on the teeth sensation. I've never felt like that before when smelling a fragrance. I feel like it leans a little feminine but it's definitely unisex. This is very niche and I have absolutely nothing in my 500 bottle collection that smells remotely like this does. I got a 50 ml at TJ Maxx on clearance for $45. At that price point, i find it definitely worth it. I would not pay retail price for this. Performance seems pretty good so far but projection is not super strong unless you spray very heavily. Not thinking this is blind buy worthy even though I personally like this but its not a love. I've heard that Serge Lutens isn't distributing in the USA anymore, so I'm glad I was able to find this at a rack store and on clearance.

Dent de Lait is an abstractly clean, quasi-gourmand floral fragrance with an intriguingly unsettling sharpness. Not at all as repulsive as Lutens’ inspiration would suggest; the approach is figurative, not literal. Opening with an immediate, but fleeting, blast of bitter almond and aldehydic fizz, Dent de Lait quickly pushes rose nuanced heliotrope to the fore as the almond mellows to become sweet and milky. Here there’s a faint hint at coconut & white musk hidden somewhere in the shadows. Frankincense lends some bite in the heart as the aldehydes return, this time more metallic, with cold, sudden sharpness. The eventual dry down is one of a delicately aldehydic musk and heliotrope; cold and very clean. There’s something nostalgic, almost comforting, about Dent de Lait - probably the sweet milkiness - at the same time though, there’s an uneasy tension. Utterly intriguing. Easily a unisex scent, this is better suited to cool weather wear. Longevity is moderate during which sillage is moderate. 8/10

Clean fresh spring time Cold and crisp. Opening: clean metal. And soap. Think, cold kitchen.stainless steel pastry bench. (Pastry chef here) First one in the morning before the ovens are turned on. spotless cool kitchen is a very distinct smell to me. The heliotrope comes in very quickly. I do not get a hint of blood. Middle: Heliotrope, cream (cold) Reminiscent of standing over a 60 quart mixer, pouring gallons of ice cold cream into an ice cold Stainless steel bowl whipping the cream for the day. you turn that mixer on and that smell is intense. This is a little more subtle than that, but that’s what it makes me think The dry down: Almond is very subtle. I don’t feel that this is a gourmand at all. The metallic note carries throughout though it’s more subtle now. Mostly I’m getting heliotrope and creamy almond. As a lover of almond, I wish it was stronger what was intended here. But hey, I’ve got plenty of almond oil.

Whoa. This is certainly... unique. And I definitely understand why some poor soul on ebay sold 90% full 100 mL bottle to me for $40 with free shipping. I absolutely see why people can loathe this. This is more of an olfactory exercise than something to be worn daily. In the beginning I get lots of metal, but it's not as "in your face" as, say, in Ganymede. Rusty metallic bucket full of fresh milk. Something vaguely floral that to me smells like violet, but I am guessing this is heliotrope. And then, out of nowhere, I get a smell of sweat AND bleached linens, yes, at the same time... quite subtle and not repulsive. Very, very interesting. Fragrance is very quiet, sits very close to the skin, which is a good thing in this case. So far I am conflicted between 'WTH is this" and "I think I like it quite a bit".
- em inglês
I was generously sent this sample with a perfume purchase. I really thought I wouldn't like it. What a pleasant surprise. I first detect, heliotrope. Milky, delicate heliotrope. Then this eases and the metallic note dominates. I can now pick out the almond and incense. It's pretty wild. It has an almost fizzy effect. It makes my nose tingle. Strange but true. I actually could see me wearing this on a warm day. It wouldn't overwhelm the nose. For most of its timeline it's an almondy metallic fizzy scent. Delicately floral with some sweetness. The closest scent to this might be F Malle hiver but of course no metallic note. Well done Serge for another ground breaker. I get average longevity and sillage in this cold room.

Smells like the ORIGINAL White Linen that I remember my mom wearing in the late 70s. I loved that scent, which was much smoother and authentically floral than the still-decent version sold today. Despite the name and misleading marketing, Dent de Lait could be a very close relative to that original classic by Estee Lauder. I detect no blood scent in this fragrance; just a well-done white floral-musk with the right amount of quiet aldehydes and quality ingredients. That lasts for a couple hours before blending in with, but not disappearing into, a typical but nicely done amber (unlike White Linen). Niche? Nope. This is definitely a mainstream reach for Serge Lutens. Lovely? Yep.

One of the most hated and vilified of all the perfumes in the eclectic Serge Lutens line, this floral gourmand is actually a very pleasant fragrance which is meant to evoke the smells of childhood including the baby tooth reference in its title. The main note is a very natural heliotrope which is surrounded by notes of almond, milk, slight incense, and a slighter metallic note. Okay so this is edgy modern perfumery but come on naysayers, it is quite pretty and captures the childhood ambience very well. Unisex (feminine leaning) with moderate sillage and projection and good longevity. Try it without any inhibitions about it’s name and you may find it enjoyable.

It smells like fresh linen. But the one your mother washes for you. Apparently there was heliotrope in every washing powder in the nineties, because this is the only association I get with this perfume - fresh linen from my childhood. It is actually really nice, but I find it strange to wear something like that as a perfume. I am disappointed because I don't smell milk. I long for milk notes. On my skin, almond is somewhere really in the back also. Heliotrope and metal notes dominate, and I also get a bit of smoke now and then. Very unique scent.

The reviews are very misleading with this one!!! Blood? Metallic? Gothic? Am I smelling something wrong? This is muscy, clean with beautiful incense. To my nose the main notes are Musc, aldehydes, heliotrope, incense and I detect something powdery like iris or orris root, maybe a touch of immortelle. It’s like fresh clean clothes with a twist. Very elegant and a bit masculine in my opinion. I can see it for everyday wear, maybe as a signature for someone. It’s not that interesting for a Serge Lutens fragrance but quite pleasant!
