L'Eau de Paille

I love this fragrance. Despite the list of 3 notes this is complex and really develops and changes from start to finish. Definitely NOT generic as some reviewers say. A unique fragrance that needs to be explored ! I don't know what the difference is regarding the 2 different flacons (?)...I refer to the flacon shown above.

"A foray into a field of wheat where the heat and crisp straw wisps battle for the attentions of a gentle late-summer sun." This is such a relaxing fragrance. Like a lot of Serge's fragrances, there is an undercurrent of something cold and warm interplaying. Totally with tessture here, I don't get a strong idea of hay. It is a soapy vetiver, which I adore, but not what I envisioned from the notes and description. But hay can be quite green so it is probably all there, I'm just not experienced enough to pick it out specifically. A bit sweet. Mostly masculine. Very pleasant. But very conventional. 6/10 Edit: What was I thinking? The more I wear it the more I love it. I've been wearing it to sleep at night and I just think it's so comforting and divine. On my pillows it is more dry and hay like. Really something I am so happy to have in my collection. 7.5/10

Wanted to like this but it was too synthetic for me. I'm a huge SL fan but this one didn't quite hit the mark.

The immediate thought I get when smelling this is "European". What does that mean? I have no idea, but it was my first thought, like i am in italy on a countryside. Hay can be quite dark and woody. Never have i gotten a "green" aspect from the hay absolutes that I have personally worked with, but I can see where they are interpreted. To me, its more tobacco than green. Coumarinic and slightly resinous. Vetiver gives this rooty feel to it. Interesting.

Smells like a “blue” masculine - clean, perfumey, and synthetic - but a bit more tasteful and restrained than the usual suspects. Think a pared-back, less obnoxious Bleu de Chanel. Not at all what I expected from the note pyramid. It’s tenacious and projects in a way that’s noticeable but not overbearing.

Still detectable on fabric a day later. I’m falling in love with this masculine-leaning, outdoor laundry-type fragrance. The longer it dries down, the better I prefer it.

This perfume is really fascinating. It smells sweet like honey and fragrant hay first. But it's very masculine. It's the scent of a man with a warm heart.
