Beautiful. Pine needles and fresh sweet citrus, mixed equally with cold clear water with a touch of salt. Super fresh, light, and restorative. Occasionally it veers toward almost too briny but then reels itself back in. If you could go to the cleanest mountain top lake, surrounded by pines, and sit outside in the breeze there in very early spring, this is what you might smell. Someone said it’s a good hiking scent, I agree. Also good for doing yoga, meditation, going to the beach. Any experience in nature. What I think it would be great for is taking a break from fragrance for a bit. If like me you like to smell them all but get tired of the constant parade of obnoxiously persistent Amber fixatives etc this is like a cold sweet breath of fresh air. I can’t go “naked” without fragrance but this might be the next best thing for a few days. It feels about as light and natural as would be possible in a fragrance.

Got it from Japan and the Serge Lutens SA showed me it layered with some of their fragrances. Love it smells really like water mist in a forest. No fishy or seaweed vibes. Very fresh and green (not the cucumber like, more like pine and grassy). Also love the musk in the base. It’s great for layering with many types of fragrances and wear on its own if you want to just smell clean and clear. It’s simple but unique. It lasts 6-7 hours on its own and last longer to layer. Depends on the fragrance that you’re layering. I also like Dans le bleu qui pétille. It will be on my wish list.

My signature fragrance for warmer months. As soon as the spring begins, I cannot wait to pull it off the shelf. It's airy and light but also well-projecting, eucaliptus-y and bitter, but less like sauna, and more like biting into the stem or a citrus rind. It makes me want to wake up and breathe in with my full chest. If I spray it in the morning, it lingers arond for the better half of the day. As the lover of all notes mentioned, I am glad that I have it, and would repurchase it if necessary. It doesn't bore me and makes me feel good, which is all I want from a fragrance.

Nice light scent. The citrus up top comes off like dried lemon and lime rinds. Pine needles are light. The eucalyptus is mellow. Some marine elements as well. I tested it next to another lemon lime opening scent in pdm sedley. This one is lighter but smells similar in the air in the opening. Up close this one has a much more sultry musky aloe vera marine thing going on. It's hard to notice until compared up close. The Matin line is great so far. I'm gonna get them all.

I get citrusy seaweed. There's that saline fishy funk you smell when strolling along the sea shore, but it's a perfectly natural part of the landscape and completely inoffensive. It smells like the feeling in your body after a good afternoon swim in the sea. I've put it on after a shower and I absolutely feel like I swam in the sea before taking that shower, I almost believe in it. This is a really cool scent! Curious to wear it in summer

This is a really pleasant, non-aquatic, lemon & woods freshie with a little bit of Serge Luten's classy old-world charm. And some eucalyptus too. It's an atypical freshie which imparts a strange sense of sophistication to its wearer. Clean, fresh, lemony, woody, and slightly herby. Definitely my favorite of the three in this collection. To me this is the kind of fragrance that a gentleman scholar puts on when they want to feel fresh.

I've never been more proud to gatekeep such a classy and simple DNA that just works. We're all in agreement not to tell the rest of the community about this one yeah? Kidding of course. Absolute steal for the price. Coniferous lovers watch out, this might be your new favorite.

An ideal spring scent. New growth pine backed by eucalyptus. The citrus floats around the scent and projects more but that projection is clearly hinted with the greener notes. It is not very musky at all on my skin.

A bright, soft citrus that's effortlessly elegant. It pairs with my morning coffee like a glass of fresh lemon water. Perfect for breezing through emails at 9am.

Not my cup of tea, this one. It’s very nice, I do appreciate the herbal freshness of the overall composition. Something about dry down reminds me of a clutch of parsley sprigs wet with dew, just harvested from the damp soil in a garden. While that’s a very enjoyable aroma, it’s not a scent I’m too keen on wearing as a personal fragrance. I will say though— this is one of the most LOOOONG lasting freshies I have ever come across. This juice grabs your skin and will NOT let go. I just washed my wrists and applied some scented lotion as well. Nope! Didn’t work. Even under a layer of my vanilla scented lotion, Parole d’Eau ghosted right back up on both wrists. For a freshie, that’s downright ridiculou— er, I mean MIRACULOUS. Ah, well.🤷🏻 what can a woman do? Parole d’Eau insists on coming to bed with me tonight...But will Parole d’Eau still respect me in the morning?

I’m so glad I got this anyway. It was a blind buy due to a HUGE discount but then I read some people’s reviews and wondered what I’d signed up to. In reality this is a very light pine aquatic. Totally unisex it smells professional which is a word I’m not sure I have ever thought of when experiencing a fragrance. Yes it is abstract but there is not doubt the evocation of water. There is an aspect of herbal about it, definitely pine, a very light and different touch of eucalyptus but nothing chemical cleaner going on and nothing suggesting foods or hippy informality. It’s a walk through evergreens to a lake. Simple. No fish note on me. If I were a modernist architect I might wear this and it will sit well alongside my CDGs.

A reminiscent of the majestic chalk beach of Seven Sisters, combining the sun-baked limestone and remnants of the ocean. Driftwood, seaweed, algae, mineral, pear, starfruit, flowery musk intermingle and paint serenity. There are also the occasional droplets of ocean brine picked up by the sea breeze that you taste on your lips. Tactility i.e. you shuffle your bare feet across coarse and smooth pebbles while the waves gently brush by. Parole D'eau captures a fleeting impression that lingers as an artful composition, reserved only for the most unique of memories. 7.4/10

I bought this based on a chat gpt conversation. I was looking for a cologne that smelled really subtle and almost not like a cologne. I wanted something where if somebody smells me they just think that person smells good and fresh. I live in a hot climate so that was a necessity. This cologne works great for that use case I smell eucalyptus maybe some citrus and sort of the smell of a forest stream. It is subtle. It’s a great cologne for when you just get out of the shower and you wanna smell good but you don’t want to smell like you sprayed something on.

Awesome hyper realistic lemon juice opening. Dry down is a natural pine. Has no resemblance of a cleaning product for either the citrus or pine/herbal notes Gets relatively soft with a slight musk. It’s interesting but I have too many freshies in my collection at this point to consider this as TB/FB worthy. This is a good choice for someone who wants a subtle light fresh, soft your skin but better scent that doesn’t want to make themselves known through others noses the second they enter a room

Freshy fresh. Hazy fog pulls the eucalyptus and pine needle spice into a cool cloud. It is the cleanest you will feel on this cool morning as you kayak across impossibly still water. I love that this is an aquatic fragrance that feels like a fine mist, and doesn't do anything screechy or bright blue to force a masculine agenda. A hot weather banger.

Simple, fresh summer scent with only 4 notes. Citrus rind, pine needles, eaucalyptus and synthetic musk. Just the perfect scent for outdoor relaxation and sunny days. The unisex scent has moderate sillage and good longevity. Refreshing, elegant and discrete. Enjoy!

Even though it sits very close to the skin, I think it carries a successful open-air spa vibe. The blend of aquatic facets, pine-forest air, and eucalyptus is wonderful. A lemony freshness also runs through the fragrance. Very airy and refreshing!

The opening is what I love. Piny, camphoraceous eucalyptus. Unfortunately it does not last. It soon becomes a herbal, slightly aquatic, musky scent. Fresh, great for hot days. It is lovely, but not so special. And I do get the 'watery' vibe.

Very clean, fresh fragrance. The eucalyptus note is prominent, but well balanced by the other notes. To me, this is sort of the flip side of l'eau froide -- instead of brisk and cool, this is warm and inviting. Love them both.

beautiful fresh/green eucalyptus. dries down into something sweeter, creamier. inoffensive and perfectly clean, though nothing unique or very interesting. perfect if you want to just "smell good" and love eucalyptus.

Strong opening of pine and basil, lime, menthol, sun sparkling on water. Fresh, clean, cool. The drydown is softer, less sharp, but similar notes. It leans too masculine for me to wear it myself.

I get wax and pine. Not camphorous or minty to my nose.

I was recently in the Tongass rainforest of the Alaskan panhandle and Southern coasts during the late spring/early summer transition, which means that greenery abounded but yet the temperature rarely climbed above 55F/13C. The short yet rapid-pace growing season kicked off with shrubbery growing inches per day and the conifers waking up from winter slumbers, snow melt meant that very little remained on the forest floors but everything was soaked, neon blue glacial ice was starting to release its life-giving possessions and float aimlessly around fjords, and breezes were carrying the scent of warmer ocean currents into the air. Parole d'Eau reminds me a lot of that... for a time. I shouldn't like Parole, but I kind of do. As far as minimalist marine scents go, it is certainly on the "well done" and "pleasant" side of the genre's spectrum, but this is a lot like saying "high-quality fast food". An unnatural ozone/marine and particularly a sugar-sweetness permeate the entire life of the perfume in a way that is bordering on unpleasant, and that's not because they are loud, scratchy, and/or syrupy and cloying - neither are - but because they smell like afterthoughts of heavy-handed synthetics, especially the sugar. They lay a big hand over the eucalyptus and pine in the opening, which sparkle with their citrusy, camphoraceous, green-woody, resinous notes. The sugar half-buried into their surface layers like large, sticky, glassy crystals, and the marine element surrounding them like a thick fog. Here I am heavily reminded of the temperate coastal rainforest of Alaska. But there is a quick descent into thick, gray, soap musk that is also not spared the sugar. The musk is gray, thick, and dense, reminiscent of ambergris, but more so old-school-soapy in that "clean yet funky" manner that makes old-school soaps so attractive to me, but the sweetness knocks it off kilter. The Word of Water could've been a better perfume. There is much about it I like, and I like the direction it tried to go, but it is far too distracted by the heavy-handed and saturated sugariness to give my nose any time or space to appreciate the more interesting aspects. As it's part of the Matin Lutens collection it's available as a soap, and that is a far more appropriate format for Parole d'Eau than perfume.

I'm surprised as I'm used to the other complex scents of Sheldrake, but this one is not it. It's linear and straight forward. Definitely not a "return to true deep waters", rather a "true deep pine forest" but without the soil accord. It smells like pine needles and fir, no citruses to me, or "standard" eucalyptus - it's more of a backbone adding crispiness to the pine needles and the overall forest feeling. It's really warm and inviting smell and my partner told me I smell like a fragrant sauna (where we're at it's often to put essential oils in saunas), but there's no smokiness in that one for sure. It smells a bit like pine car freshener, but it's too well composed and quality blended to call it exactly that. I'm unsure if I want to smell like that outside, but it's calming so maybe I can add it to my "before bed" rituals. This is after one wear only, so I'll give it more chances. edit: ok, wore it 4-5 times at that point. Hard no to me, it's just really basic.

Surprisingly fresh combination of green and citrus notes. The notes smell natural and refreshing, and even in the cold weather we have right now in Europe, it does last sometime on skin. Its not a typical sweet citrusy summer freshie, it has some unique character, but quite honestly i have come to expect much, much more from this house - the complexity of the SL classics, the multifaceted development of the scent profile during the different phases of the drydown, the bold artistic direction - not present in this fragrance. Still a good one, but i wouldn't go out of my way to acquire it, especially at retail price. At discounter sites, 50-60 euro for 100ml bottle is a bargain i would say.

Gently camphoric eucalyptus and fresh river water opening; my intial thought was “this plays it safe but it is still very meditative and pleasant.” As it developed, I began to think the opposite. It became quite briny on my skin. My mind makes a very, very strong association with fishing by a river. The fresh water is still present. It is the whole scenery. I’m not exactly disgusted by the fragrance, but I definitely wouldn’t want to wear this on my body. A wildly unique fragrance yet still pass for me. smells like a fish 5.5/10

This is what soap would smell like at a high-end mountain lodge resort in an evergreen forest. It also reminds me of a walk through the forest while snow is gently falling. Parole d'eau is so invigorating, cold, and naturalistic. The first 20 min. is chilly and brisk with a balanced blend of pine, eucalyptus, and lemon rind. It's so pleasant, but short-lived. The dry-down is more linear, but I can't detect what I'm smelling; it's sulfuric and unpleasant. I do find that it wears better on fabric than on my skin.

Tried a sample when it came out and I hated it. It’s a very refreshing citrus-aquatic scent with a touch of eucalyptus, my issue with Parole d’Eau was it smelled kinda fishy on my skin... Turned out I had a faulty sample. Tried it again at a department store and kinda love it this time. All the good things I’ve mentioned above without the fishy smell. Not as unique as the legendary L’Eau Froide, but I do enjoy it a lot.

Not a safe blind-buy. It opens up with a strong mix of eucalyptus and pine, I pick up the pine more, which I like. I find the pine note to be very realistic. I hate the dry-down, it ends up smelling medicinal on me. Like rheumatic cream. I won't put it on a second time.

Really enjoy the opening, feel mediocre about the drydown. What i like is that this resembles older mens fragrances that achieve freshness through no nonsense realistic naturalism that is devoid of sweetness, instead of having a citrus freshness or oakmoss freshness or whatever. I could see fans of something like creeds selection verte or maybe even tom fords grey vetiver enjoying this. I live in the mountains amongst pine trees and the opening really does have a freshly cracked wet pine needle smell (while also taking on more of a cactus-y vibe than a pine tree vibe somehow), but this quickly morphs into something more vaguely eucalyptus-y with a menthol-y backing which takes on a very mint like presence- at this stage it almost smells like a realistic mint mojito and i rather enjoy that too. But then, alas- the not too distant drydown just leaves you with that amorphously green, vague eucalyptus scent (that kind of takes on a fresh air effect in the same way that oakmoss does with other fragrances), with something slightly lime-y (a lot of the recent serge’s have this lime accord and they need to cut it out bc it never complements or contrasts well with the fragrance, it just seems lazy). It does smell like a spa, and to me not in the best way, but not in the worst way either. Its just not that inviting or interesting or beautiful. It actually really reminds me of the smell of raw aloe vera juice- there is a big plastic bottle of pressed aloe that i used to buy and smells just like this drydown. It is really easy to win me over with a realistic pine note so me ending up disappointed with this is a let down. I dont think its bad i just dont think its great- its ok- which sucks because if it managed to just keep the one sharp pine note from the opening into the drydown, it would easily round the composition out and move this from disappointingly spa-like territory into kind of a masterpiece “breath of fresh mountian air” fragrance like people regard bel respiro or something. But as is its too one note and more reminiscent of diffused eucalyptus essential oil, despite the opening being great...

Serge Lutens #4 - Spring's purity Serge Lutens fragrances share a feeling of restraint done on purpose, for the sake of elegance. An often used "buzzword" that even i find myself using lately is "Old Money" and yet again i must resort to it because this expression fits Serge Luten's stylistic very well. Parole D'Eau is what i would describe an "Old Money" person's casual day to day scent. A more stylised and more refined Acqua di Gio with added eucalyptus. In the opening you get a burst of bright citruses, a semi-sweet, minty eucalyptus and the brisk pine needle, all enveloped in a crystal clear, cold and refreshing, immaculate aquatic accord. In the drydown, the calone moves forward and accentuates the marine ambiance by giving the scent a sea-weed like note but in reality its the eucalyptus mingling with the rest of the composition. I fully agree with @2bClare about everything, especially the fact that the marine accord in this fragrance doesn't develop an unpleasant scent. Calone is a compound that is notorious for sometimes getting a briny, rotten eggs or "fishy" smell for some people but here its done so well that it doesn't quiet get there. So natural and pure, a beautiful scent. You smell something like Parole D'Eau and just then you get a glimpse of the mastery and art perfumery can offer for those who delve deeper into it.

Parole d'Eau (Word of Water) takes me to the bristly, cool pitch pine covered dunes of Plum Island. When the sun hits the trees and the sand, the camphor and brine permeates the air, rendered just a shade sweeter by resins and beach grasses. I appreciate how direct the pine accord is here; with intermittent moments that remind me of the turpentine of the studio when I spent hours painting in college. The conifers are supported by citruses, of which their terpenes are adjacent and therefore capable of lending some resplendence. There are droplets of condensation, mist in the air, sand dollars on the shore, piping plovers scuttling, and summer moves to autumn. There is nothing dramatic, it is a suspended chord, a soothing straight line, as if traversing the beach. A break in its linearity comes from softly woody, floral musks as the terpenes and the camphor eases. It sets a pellucid scene, a vista in fragrant form, stretched out and washing over. This is far from a typical Serge Lutens, but no less beautiful and compelling in its profound minimalism. Parole d'Eau would make a great palate cleanser for all that is complicated.

Wow. Despite being relatively simple, it's going to take a few more wearings to really get a handle on this. At first whiff, I got the scent of green herbs, freshly cut; not like grass, but more like mint but without the menthol, just the tender green leafy part of the scent. There's also a really "high-pitched" dry lemony zest aspect to it, too. A bit like lemon dish soap, maybe, but really transparent and airy. When my wife smelled it, she immediately recognized it as the scent of rue (ruta graveolens), and I agree. The lemon and eucalyptus really combine with the leafy aldehydes to come across as fresh bitter herb. I was expecting lemon-eucalyptus cough drops, but I don't get that at all. This is very very green, but not like grass. This is herbs. And lemon zest; really dry bitter lemon zest. And of course there is the Serge Lutens L'eau watery musk that ties it all together, which was expected. No fishy/seawood notes to my nose. Projects more than expected. Moderate projection even after a few hours. Really really interesting and I'm going back and forth between loving this and being a little afraid of it.

it's ok. I was hoping for something a little more cold and bracing. Instead the experience is mostly a mild musky citrus aroma. It's a little sour and reminiscent of aloe vera juice like someone mentioned below. Lightly vegetal and watery-fresh. Very minimal, close to the skin, and a bit fleeting but does not disappear completely. You could call it mildly pine-y but I often feel that just means more citrusy terpenes that blur the lines between the two. I don't feel this is very woody and instead leans in a lukewarm lime water direction. I love the bottle and think it might just be something I spray when I feel like nothing else, but it doesn't do a lot to inspire me. Instead of the outdoors I end up thinking of lotions or citrus-infused water pitchers without any ice.

'Deep, intimate, eternal...a moment of serenity, a return to your roots.' All the tired old cliches are trotted out for this one, but it gets worse. "Colourless and odourless by definition, yet an eau can conceal a deep and discreet fragrance..." How they can come up with such nonsense beats me, but maybe it's just computer generated ramblings. It is true that you need water vapour to perceive any fragrance - you can't smell an orange in the desert. But water itself is odourless, - fact. Shame, because the fragrance itself is wonderful. It has a superb and unusual freshness. So much so that I had no hesitation on buying a bottle, despite the idiotic description.

Love it! I can predict fans’ disappointment similar to the ‘disastrous’ launch of three Eaux. It is not the usual gourmand dark and complex Serge Lutens. If you like his Eau Froide, you might like this. Parole d’Eau is a monolith, fresh woody aromatic, with a distinct eucalyptus note, it gets a little more comfortable and warmer some time after the application, otherwise it flows without changes, like a river. It is simple but it somehow has everything you need, it is mesmerizing. The bottle, cap, box are perfection.

Realistic lemon rind with pine needles. The pine needle note doesn't smell anything like Pine-Sol or any other cleaning product, don't worry. Eucalyptus creeps up after the brief opening to mellow out the pine needles. Slightly aquatic vibes from the musk but nothing that goes into fishy or briny territory. Very fresh and natural smelling. This is my first Serge Lutens, and I think it is an excellent choice for a spring fragrance. My girlfriend also likes it a lot, so that helps.

A very unusual and unique fresh fragrance. It's like being fresh out of sea on a brisk day. Strong pine and eucalyptus notes mixed with a prominent aquatic/fishy background. The result is uplifting and awakening, but also strange. It's almost like classic dark Lutens but recreated in opposite notes, wonderfully bright yet still mysterious and weird. >> After an hour the drydown turns into this enjoyable, wearable, attractive version of Secretions Magnifiques.

First impressions on paper test strip. Icy cold, fresh. Smells exactly like a fancy spa like Seaham Hall. Citrussy without being juicy, minty piney. Serene and unisex. Will update when try on skin. On skin: crystal clear, ice cold, sparkling, fresh air, clean. Like a pure icy stream running through a snowy pine forest with bright, cold winter sunshine glittering on the ice. I really like it it's so invigorating and bright.

I got her! I bought only based on comments, reviews and its composition. She did not disappoint me, she is beautiful. Someone here says that it is suitable for spring and summer. Yes, but if I have it left for autumn, winter, I will wear it even in cold weather. I recommend it to lovers of clean and soapy, herbal scents. An unusual combination of fragrant ingredients!

Blind tested this today and it's gorgerous! I guessed a spring floral with some greens and bitters, but now I see and feel the eucaliptus (I guessed mint.) It feels like a spring floral with lots of citruses and greens - must be the musk, feels very feminine to me. I'm getting honeysuckle. And unlike most citrus forward scents this lasts really well. Love it!

Guys, I’ve figured it out. This is not a perfume, it’s a laundry product. Have a dry clean only blazer that’s getting a bit dank but don’t have the time/resources to get it professionally laundered? Spray this on the inside armpits a few times and let dry. Good to go. The ‘sent’ lingers on clothing for maybe an hour. On skin it’s gone once it’s dry.

Were I to give in to the power of suggestion, this would be an autumnal stroll through the high-altitude ponderosas of Flagstaff, Arizona. It would reset my crystal lifeclock. Alas, I will not give in, and find it more along the lines of fabric softener. Don’t get me wrong, it is pleasant, but it won’t save me from Carousel.

A simple and yet unique smelling fragrance. A warm/hot weather, dumb reach, fragrance. Smells out the shower clean then it does a perfume. A collection must...imo EDIT: the dry down will make you want to exclusively wear this, and only this, thru Spring and Summer!

This has been a good surprise. Unexpected clean, dry perfectly balanced citrus with eucalyptus. Great for casual or officer wear during summer. Lasts a decent time and very inoffensive. Not as divisive as usual Serge Lutens tend to be.

Parole d'Eau is a very nice citrusy green fragrance for summer - clean, crispy, warm, fresh.
