Shalini

This perfume is beautiful, if you can smell it, that is. The tuberose is fresh and oily, more similar to Narcotic V. than Tubereuse nue, and I like it. The tiare flower makes it smell like a tropical garden, not like a beach. It's a sophisticated, elegant, feminine scent. The dry down is slightly musky and it has a hint of sandalwood. Said that, it's a whisper. While trying to smell something, I accidentally spilled some of the vial that I got from Aedes. My first reaction was "OH NO! I'll smell this forever". The second reaction was "what? where is it?". I soaked a blotter in the spill, and set it aside, close to a blotter where I sprayed Tubereuse Criminelle 24 hours ago. After 30 minutes the TC blotter had a much stronger smell than the one soaked in Shalini. This would be a 10/10 if the performance wasn't so abysmal, especially for the price.

Opens with blast of fresh green neroli then powerful tuberose, rather oily on me. Delicate tiare adds discreet natural sweet, but this is low sweetness in general. Yellow sandalwood base supports very elegantly, a restrained musk adds a little plush, but thankfully, on my skin, no overtly animalic dirtiness becomes evident. This is very elegant, just short of sumptuous, nicely done. Clean without being detergent like. This tuberose does not go sour on me like some others. I could happily wear this all day long and then some. It’s a heady white floral, superbly blended and balanced without being bombastic or overbearing. C’est magnifique!

A perfume so beautiful that it makes me crave that I should have been born a woman so that I could wear this beauty in public settings. This bewitching Floriental opens with a beautiful neroli note and then proceeds to a heart of tuberose and tiare flower before settling into a base of sandalwood and musk. The perfume is superbly blended by master perfumer Maurice Roucel. It leans straight feminine with pronounced sillage and projection and lasts for a day on skin and clothes. Drop dead gorgeous creation For now I have to be content to wear this covertly at home. It would be devastatingly beautiful on a lady. Enjoy!

I love all the parfums from Shalini created by M Roucel. His most exceptional work. I met Shalini many years at Bergdorfs and she is lovely and beautiful and very passionate about her parfums. Over the years, I have a built a collection of all her fragrances including the new Gold which is excellent. Jessica is so sweet and helpful in fulfilling all my requests and orders. Most perfume houses nowadays use a lot of chemicals and it is rare to find a creator who wants to use the natural essences. Congratulations to Shalini and M. Roucel for creating this beautiful house.

I met Shalini at a personal appearance and she gave me a vial card of the perfume. It is most beautiful fragrance I have smelt in a long long time. It took me a summer I spent in the South of France. Maurice Roucel is the master!! Shalini mentioned that the fragrance has her 3 favorite white flowers - tuberose, neroli (hence the memory of the summer) and tiare. I love it!! It is like being bathed in sunlight:) Guess I have to splurge and get my personal bottle from Aedes!

I adore this perfume and think it is so well blended. I do find that it dissipates on my skin far too quickly. I'm still debating on whether to purchase a FB or not. I'm hoping spraying will make more of an impact. It's an elegant scent and makes me smile.

A melange of bright, fresh white florals with a light dusting of spice. The neroli offers a zingy citric touch and slight green nuance, the tuberose is a bit heady and lends an underlying creaminess, plus there's a bit of a tropical yellow floral vibe. All grounded by a sandalwood base, which may contribute to the creamy aspects of the tuberose and the fuzzy citrus accord + spice. Moderately soft projection for 2-3hr, longevity 6-8hr.

I agree with other posts about the very green (and clean) opening. But then a lot of civet starts to come through, and I swear I am getting some oakmoss too. Then the song fades pretty quickly. I am genuinely happy I do not love this pricy stuff!

One word...Divine!! I had the pleasure of sampling this fragrance, and oh my god, I want a bottle of it now. It opens with a dark and bitter green aroma of Coriander that melds beautifully with the infamous Tuberose Absolute; it only lasts a few seconds before transitioning into a cloud of white floral heaven. It does not smell overtly of Tuberose; the Tiare flower envelops the Tuberose, creating a beautiful halo of floral richness. The Neroli is definitely present, but it is smooth and soft, lending this fragrance a subtle green nuance that softens as it warms on the skin. It ultimately dies down to a soft, creamy musk that only Maurice Roucel can do. Disclaimer: floral perfumes always trigger headaches for me; this is the exception. It smells so natural and effervescent. It doesn’t shout or project; rather, it sits intimately on the skin and radiates only with movement. On my skin, it lasts around five hours before it completely disappears. It does cling to hair though. I can still smell little wafts of it in my hair hours later. If the price for an ounce wasn’t so high, I’d douse myself in it!! For now, a few dollops of it will have to suffice.

I received the one drop sample from Aedes and realized as soon as I put it on that I had to order a bottle. I was a little surprised when the bottle came and was so small, but as it takes so little of it to create a perfect atmosphere, I think it will last a long time. As someone who wears Fracas and Carnal Flower, and worships the ground that Maurice Roucel walks on, I am delighted with this fragrance. It lasts and shifts in the most beautiful, elegant way, but all within the floral realm, as if you're walking through a garden catching different flowers along the way. I didn't find it to be green, nor woodsy as a few of the reviewers did, and felt that it held its own for longer than most florals. It's complex and at the same time straightforward, which I like. Leolady hit it right on the head when she said it has "relentless beauty". It doesn't have smoke and mirrors - it's just a beautiful, heady floral - thanks Maurice, for another great one!

I purchased a sample of Shalini from the aedes.com website and was very excited about trying what seemingly is one of the most expensive perfumes on the market. Shalini is an exquisite floral fragrance. Its for women who love big florals. Shalini opens as a rather medicinal green smell. However, about 15 minutes laters, it dries down to an extravagent bouquet. On me, the neroli note was prominent. This is a decadent ultra-feminine perfume. Its womanly rather than sweet. This is the fragrance I would wear to my best friend's wedding. Shalini is trustworthy and platonic; it remains true to its essential floral character for hours. However, there is no mischief with Shalini. In my opinion, because its emphasis is on flowers only; it lacks sexiness and is probably not a catch-a-man scent. However, if you are looking for a grande floral of relentless beauty, try Shalini. I suppose because this perfume has such lasting power, its price is very dear.

I received a small sample of SHALINI from a fellow fragrance traveller and so was happy to be able to test a perfume which I would probably never buy, even if I loved it, because of the prohibitively high price. Good news, I won't feel too deprived by not adding this Maurice Roucel creation to my collection. SHALINI opens green but swiftly becomes a somewhat dirty, animalic tuberose in the spirit of Versace BLONDE but quite a bit less oily. My best guess is that there is civet in this composition as well, although it is not listed among the notes. I do think that this creation is closer to BLONDE than to any of the other famous tuberose perfumes with which I am familiar: FRACAS, CARNAL FLOWER, BEYOND LOVE, DATURA NOIR, the Histoires de Parfum trio, etc. For what SHALINI is to my nose (slightly animalic tuberose), I find BLONDE to be better. Happily, this means that I can invest my $800 savings in something else!

I ordered a sample of Shalini and tried it the first day. It opened with an extremely interesting greed note, as leolady said. But then I just didn't get into it much. This past weekend I wasn't going out anywhere, so I thought I'd just empty the rest of the sample on my wrists and neck. At some point I thought it had a "cheap perfume" smell, but there was something that kept me sniffing my wrists all evening long. When I woke up the next morning I kept catching a whiff of something delightful -- almost as if I had passed a flower in full bloom. This fragrance doesn't dry down to the typical vanilla scent -- there's something nicely floral that keeps hanging on. I'm still not convinced that Shalini is for me, but I'm intrigued enough to purchase a second sample and try it again. Shalini is just different enough that it's worth another try.

Don’t even think of buying this perfume or any from this house they have the WORST customer services ever. My fragrance got damaged after 8 months. The rubber band got out of the spray it evaporated also has some white particles I am collecting fragrances since I am 14 years old. I have fragrances from $80 to $1200 or even more. I have fragrances that are from 1970/80 and they are still perfect. I store them in a dark room with AC on all day no direct sunlight l. I asked for a customer services on IG they blocked me. They don’t answer my text on IG or even answer my emails. Terrible house so bad for a great perfumer to end up with this terrible people. Let’s see if you can delete this post ?

Just sampled it and don't know what to think.. I've got an official dabber sample. It is very quiet, I can hardly smell it, but beautiful. Now when interesting part comes: first I could smell hyacinths, within next few mins I was sure it was a whiff of tuberose,but very brief. Then suddenly came LOTV, followed by freesia and after all that fave change I have a true honeysuckle... To say that I'm confused is not to say anything at all. I don't know where I am with this little super expensive sample!!

I'd love to try this, if anybody is generous to part with a few drops. Can't believe the price. Must have Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston's blood in it. Whoever heard of such a price! Maybe a little bit of King Tutankhamen's fingernails? 1400 bucks for 2 oz :O

Currently for sale at roughly a third of RRP at TK MAXX if anyone is interested. I have no particular interest in purchasing however, especially after reading the reviews here, haha.
