Shawn Mendes Signature

Major dupe for Britney Spears Private Show. Great perfume none the less and I do love it but in terms of smell it's identical to PS by Ms Spears. I love the bottle and I love how it has a story to it compared to Private Show. I love how it features the design of his guitar tattoo and it has a guitar pick on some guitar string (don't know if it's actually guitar string) around the neck of the bottle. Despite starting off as identical to Private Show, the dry down begins to become its own fragrance and about an hour and a half in, the smell of cedar cuts through the caramel smell and you get this sweet scent with some woody noted to it, so yes despite starting off very feminine it does dry down and become a somewhat of a guys scent (depends on who the guy is wearing it and if they can pull it off as it's still very sweet). I own Private Show so I'm still deciding if I will buy Shaun Mendes.

First off, I want to say I do not get the comparison to BS Private Show. I own both these fragrances, I’ve got a spritz of each on separate wrists and they are nothing alike. Private Show is a milky, sugary vanilla coffee bomb with excellent projection. SM Signature is quite a bit more understated, with fruity nuances instead of creamy ones. It’s not a powerhouse. It goes on as a skin scent, and blends nicely with the body chemistry to create a unique version of itself on everyone. I find it to be more in the vein of Prada Candy which it layers with amazingly well! I find it leans towards the feminine side but I’m sure it would smell amazing on a man too. I’m pleased with it because it performs exactly how I expected it to. It’s a pleasant, comfortable fragrance that stays soft and sweet, but isn’t at all a fruit or sugar bomb. Nicely blended. Scent 7/10 Sillage 6/10 Longevity 7/10

I got lucky and found a bottle of this at Walmart on clearance a while back, and this is one of the best celebrity perfumes I think I've ever owned. I realize it's marketed as unisex, but I truly don't see how this is unisex. It smells VERY feminine to me. If I knew nothing about this, I'd almost swear it's a Britney Spears flanker of some sort. It's very rich, sweet and gourmand to me. This also has amazing longevity, I spray it in the am and still smell it during the pm. I really like this perfume, it just unfortunate that it's hard to get ahold of from a reputable seller. Appreciate this if you have it, it is SO good!

Quick review, tested this out today.. IMO borders slightly more feminine, (like the vibe you get from Ariana Grande's Franky) but if you're more gender fluid with scents (like me) or like fruity sweet, then I'm sure you'll like this, Spritzed it on got a fruity tart opening with a creamy warm dry down. Felt it didn't last that long but I might need to try it out again..prob wouldn't buy this for myself but if someone gifted it to me I could see my self reaching for it every now & then. In all deff. not a bad scent compared to some other celeb. scents out there.

Mmmm this is definitely a Dulce de Leche dream. If you're a fan of that delicious dessert, Signature is a must-try. To my nose, the dry down is remarkably similar to that burnt sugar smell of Aquolina's Pink Sugar (or maybe Gold? one of those! lol) but slightly less burnt-sweet and more fruity-sweet. This lasts at least 6 hours on my skin, and even after it turns into a skin scent it's DELICIOUS. There is nothing that would be considered traditionally masculine or even unisex about this scent but who cares, wear whatever smells good to you :)

bought this on a whim, i have absolutely no love for shawn mendes but this perfume is so nice. the pyramid for it on here is spot on, i adore the pineapple/maple/dulce de leche combination. light and gently sweet. i think it's a bit more on the "feminine" side as far as unisex fragrances go, but that shouldn't stop you from wearing this if you're a guy and you like this.

I wore this when I was 15 until I was 16 and then it was no longer sold anywhere. Really sad. It's delicious and warm, but fruity and cinnamon scented. It's perfectly unisex and has a perfect run time. I miss it. So nostalgic. I'm now 20. At the time I was also a huge Shawn Mendes fan. His newest one that came out after this one was TERRIBLE compared to this one.

it starts off citrusy, but it is the dry down I remember; sweet, warm, soft. the smell of my childhood best friend. i bought this on ebay after it was discontinued. I like having the memories stored in a little bottle. to me, this is the smell of comfort and safety. a warm hug from a beautiful girl. holding in laughs at the dinner table. i will keep this forever

I think this fragrance has a really unique personality; it is fruity and milky, and with the maple syrup (nod to Shawn's Canadian heritage) it kind of lands somewhere in the pineapple-upside-down-cake arena. I love blending this with other fluffy or fruity gourmands like Innocent by Mugler which has an almond cream note, to make this last a bit longer.

this scent is great I dont know why all the hate this is up there with the ysl's, and Armani codes, etc and the sillage this thing is a powerhouse radiates off my skin I would def buy smells great dont listen to the hate plus for the price why wouldn't you get this.oh and I really dont see how this is unisex

Nice fragrance. Sweet smelling, more toward feminine but it's cool that it's being marketed to both genders. I do like It, but as was pointed out to me, it doesn't last very long. It's also very light smelling so that may have something to do with it. But I'm not a hater.

oh my gosh! Y'all were not lying. This lil boy's fragrance smells like Private Show which is one of my favorites of all time! I didn't even know who this kid was and found out I'm damn near old enough to be his mother haha. I love this fragrance, though. 10/10 for me

I really like this perfume. It's more a male fragrance but they decide to make it a bit softer so the girls can buy it and dream about wearing on their skin their favorite singer.. it's marketing, they were smart to make it like this.

A stunning triple-knockout combo of delicious dulce de leche, pineapple and floral frangipani. We have a winner. Ignore the label (I've never heard of Shawn or his 'music') and enjoy the scent. A must for gourmand lovers.

Familiar creamy yellow frangipani women's fragrance scent profile BUT with a TON of gourmand added. Maple syrup and the fruits really come through. So yummy...

@Fragrantguy - I don't know where you live but if it's in Australia, Chemist Warehouse and My Beauty Spot stock this fragrance :)

This will always have a special place in my heart because I used it before coming out. It was the last fragrance I used while being closeted. Why did I gravitate towards it? In retrospect, I think it was because of what Shawn Mendes (at the peak of his fame) was going through in the media (speculation of his sexual orientation) in a way reflected what I was going through in my personal life. I remembered loving this because it smelled like Private Show by Britney Spears (who I was a fan of) and I could get away with having a bottle of Shawn Mendes Signature in my dresser without dirty looks or questions of "WHY DO YOU HAVE A BRITNEY SPEARS FRAGRANCE?". Fast forward to almost 8 years: I forgot about this fragrance and saw a box of it in a fragrance store. I can't tell you the rush of memories and feelings I felt while looking at the box. I'm debating if I should go and buy it, but that would mean reliving one of the most complicated times of my life. I think I will go buy it and use it as a reminder of the challenges I endured and the strength I found in overcoming them, all because of my sexuality Recently, I went to one of his concerts because he was presenting 4 minutes from where I live. It was like seeing an old friend, a celebrity whose fragrance helped me, in a way, be more confident in myself and smell "sweeter" than your average Paco Rabanne alpha male fare. Wrote this review because of EPTrails review, 2 reviews down. It's insane how much we attach experiences to fragrances.

So I received a sample from this fragrance and was immediately intrigued: for his & her. I love a good unisex perfume! However, to my nose it smells like the name is derived from the marketing department rather than the the scent itself. It opens bold and sweet, quite strong but not sharp. Pretty soon it settles down and the sillage becomes soft; it also does not last too long. The scent has a familiar ring to it, but cannot put my finger on it. In other reviews I noticed people mentioned Britney Spears, I never had that one so wouldn’t know about that. Maybe it’s simply the dominant dulce leche, though I can’t say this perfume is standard either. All in all, I like it but would not buy it. Though it is too sweet for my taste, other people may disagree and secretly I sometimes have a sweet tooth has well. To me, the problem is more that of the poor longevity and soft sillage; if you make an out-speaking fragrance, go all the way! Like La Vie est Belle did. You may add: 'but this is a celebrity fragrance, you cannot expect the same of it as a celebrated perfume house'. Well, you’d be perfectly right. Nevertheless, with the price this perfume is currently advertised for where I live, one may expect quality more in that direction as well.

Fresh, summery, slightly aquatic and non-offensive. I bought this on a whim for £7.99, and I don't regret my cheap blind buy. Signature is very easy to wear and I don't know anyone who would strongly dislike it. The blue tinted bottle is very cute, perfectly suits the nautical, slightly tropical juice inside. After the initial lemony, alcohol blast at the start, this softens on my skin into a fresh Summer scent. Pineapple, a hint of maple syrup, dulce de leche... It sounds like it's going to be a sugar-bomb, but it's just really nice. Refreshing almost. I'd say this definitely leans more feminine. If you like sweet, foodie scents, this one might be a nice blind buy. Private Show is more creamy and soft, more edible and coffee based, while this one is more tropical and fresh, subtle and soft. I'd wear Private Show in the Autumn, and this one in the Summer. Overall, I'm pleased with my blind buy. Is it signature worthy? Probably not. Was it worth the £7.99? Absolutely! I'll use and enjoy my bottle. Perfect for walks along the pier in white shorts and a stripey top holding an icecream.

I definitely prefer this to "Signature 2": it's a sweet, fruity scent (I wouldn't guess maple sap or pineapple), and it's so light, I can't imagine it bothering anyone. It definitely works better (projects more) in the heat. If you can imagine a weak version of "Nina" that you mixed with a weak version of "Viva la Juicy", I think you'd be close to imagining this. To me, this smells like a really 'budget' perfume, so if you found it super cheap, it might be worth your while. (I personally wouldn't spend more than 50¢/mL on it, though.) The longevity isn't great (about three hours), but considering the sillage is so poor that you can barely smell it (unless you have your nose to your skin) 20 minutes after spraying it, it's not really a huge concern. In fact, this could be an over-sprayer's dream! ;) Overall, I really don't feel that Shawn's scents are up to the standard of other celebrity scents (like SJP or Rihanna or Ariana Grande or Britney), in terms of either sillage or longevity.

I sprayed this on the back of my hand an hour ago. It's lovely! A good dupe for BS Private Show, so naturally, now that I'm home, I've sprayed on Private Show so I can compare them :) The dulce de leche note is the main player in both fragrances, hence the similarity. The main difference between the two is that Private Show has an obvious coffee note hanging out in the background which makes it more musky and cozy. SM Signature is a bit fresher and has a slight tropical vibe (I suppose the pineapple is doing this, though I can't detect it as an individual note). Both are soft scents which stay close to the skin. But I think BS Private Show has better longevity, since SM Signature is fading quickly after an hour. It's still there, but a lot quieter. I haven't detected any development in either fragrance so they're linear. SM Signature is listed as unisex. Any man who wants to wear this will smell delicious but I think traditional department stores will put this in the women's section.

A very, typical celebrity perfume. Fruity, sweet, light and youthful. Wouldn’t say that this is a fragrance for masculine personalities as it does lean towards the feminine anchor but with that being said, it does have a slight hint of masculinity maybe more so in the dry down of the fragrance. It doesn’t last that long, I would say about 3-4 hours with very, very low silage (even lower than how celebrity fragrances usually are!) but this is good for work and casual wear. It’s a good scent, airy and fruity with that sense of sweetness from the caramel-ish notes. I recommend this to feminine personalities who either love fruity fragrances or are Shawn Mendes fans. For the masculine personality fans, I recommend trying before buying. (P.S For those masculine personality fans, I suggest trying the ‘Signature II’ instead!)

Wow, genuinely does have a maple syrup note, sticky pineapple.. n underneath it all I'm weirdly reminded of Davidoff Cool Water Woman, or Cool Water Summer or maybe a men's version idk, there were so many flankers. I know no-one else has said this in a review but there it is. The 30ml does not appear to come with a plectrum, disappointingly. It irritates me when details are left off the small sizes. Would it kill them to make them all the same? This is nicer from a distance than smelling up close.. somehow it smells cheaper the closer you get. Not one to bury your nose in but it's a sweet little cheapy. I can actually see this on both sexes. I love the packaging, the guitar string top, the blue, the copper, just give me the damn plectrum accessory as well!

I am shocked to admit this...I like this a lot!! I have tons of perfumes, many in the $300-500 range, and I got this NIB 30ml box on eBay for $12. The bottle is actually really nice, and the cap fashioned to look like guitar wire is pretty cool. The box says for Men & Women (as all fragrances should say and are...if you like it, wear it). It is quite sweet, but not sickly sweet. There is some soft, fruity tones that slightly freshen up the sweetness. Longevity is not bad at all, especially considering the price. I get a good 4-5 hours, and then it is a soft skin scent. I find sillage/projection stronger than longevity. For the price, I do not think anyone can go wrong, if you like sweet, fresh scents.

Did NOT test on skin, only a card. I CAN'T BELIEVE no one said it reminded them of Private Show. VERY similar. This does have some sort of citrus background, but it has a very strong caramel note (Private Show and reminds me a BIT of Fancy but lighter). Caramel and a LIGHT citrus background. I'm going to test on skin, but on the card, this is unmistakably sweet. I honestly like it, and I will buy it, but Shawn Mendes actually uses Gucci Guilty, so it is strange he did such a sweet fragrance and unisex. EDIT: Tested on skin, this is Private Show all the way but with citrus. A very feminine, sweet, caramel fragrance. The bottle is pretty.

Absolute shocker but this is genuinely very good - and I don't even know where I have this bottle from lol. I think the initial plan for this perfume was the generic, mass-appealing gourmand BUT the cedar changed everything... It is prevalent throughout the duration and tones down the high pitched hormonal teenage girls scream from the fruit and dulce de leche. It really single-handedly removed the infantilism and daddy issues from this scent. I think Shawn Mendes should be very grateful to Celine Barel as she has done a great job. I would not be ashamed to market this perfume with my name and face myself. xoxo

Lovely! Tried this for a second time today, and I like it a lot, more than enough to buy it very soon. It's sweet - but not sickly sweet - and fruity, yet different, and somehow there seems to be a salt note in there although not listed. It's light and lasted about 3-4 hours on my skin before becoming a very office friendly soft skin scent. I like that it's marketed as unisex and I do believe it can work for both men and women, but I think it will appeal more to women. It's summer now here, but I suspect this will be even better this fall. Really a good start for the first scent of this young man's new line.

I'm quite surprised to see this being sold as unisex, my eighteen years old nephew gave me his bottle, saying to him it was perfume, he's one of the Sauvage brigade. I get the point, as I find this more on the feminine side, but there is something ultra pleasant about it. As with almost every celebrity fragrance, this is super sweet, the main note as far as I can tell is praline, there is a faint trace of musk, but almost all of the notes are sweet. Sweet, but not cloying. Longevity is ok, and sillage is moderate. It's subtle, and very nice.

This smells similar to private show, by Britney Spears. I find this way more wearable. This scent is better blended and there is something sharp and sour in show. This is what I wanted show to be. Great scent for the price, suitable for any time, not a sugary sweet which I like. Going to have to spray it on the hubby and see how it smells on him. This is disappearing from shelves and that is a real shame.

Maple syrup in a bottle - but in a good way. Sweet but also spicy, which makes it very pleasant. Unfortunately, the staying power is non existent. It has strong sillage for the first 5 minutes, but then it fades away into nothing very quickly. I find myself having to respray frequently throughout the day. It’s a very nice perfume, I just wish it stayed longer on the skin.

This is a very heavy sent. I don’t see myself wearing it much in the day time, but it would be a nice night time fragrance. I’m also not sure a man would wear it, unless he wanted to smell like caramel and pineapples. It reminds me a lot of Taylor Swift’s perfumes... a cross between Wonderstruck and Incredible Things.

Smells very nice and fresh, and fruity. Kind of a typical female celeb fragrance. I have a hard time seeing this being worn by men but I haven't really worn it on skin myself. This smells very nice regardless and I would enjoy smelling this on my SO.

This isn’t a lumberjack fragrance. This is the lumberjack’s daughter - girl next door and/or confident metro pretty boy fragrance. It’s casual sweet. The maple syrup accord is unique, which puts it apart from the other mainstream frags. Like.

The fruity-sweet start might lead you to think it will be another cloying cupcake celebrity scent. But the spicy warmth of the maple sap and cedar wood in the dry down make this much more elegant and unisex. Really comforting fragrance .

Very pleasant gourmand fragrance. Very sweet (maybe too sweet for some), with a touch of powder and a bit of freshness. Good for winter and summer, very young and feminine. It is your typical celebrity fragrance, but it is well done.

It's nice...not masculine whatsoever, nor is the bottle with the irritating jingly heart, but that's okay. Kind of smells like a Strawberry shortcake doll my sister had as a kid. Not a safe blind buy. Like not love.

Feminine. Smells like a pretty standard mid/late 2000s fruitchouli to me. Something like BDK pas ce soir/ viva la juicy. I'm really surprised by the lack of patchouli in the notes

Smells amazing. A lot more compliments than I expected. I personally wouldn’t wear this one on a construction site though as it’s not particularly burly.

Bought at Ross for $16. I like it however it's more feminine than unisex. Very sweet but soft and doesn't project much. My wife uses it now

Sweet pollen-heavy flowers dipped in a milky caramel sauce - that's what this smells like. Lovely, but a bit too floral for me.

Sugary, sweet, not too sweet, but 'very gourmand'. I can smell only sweetness, no flowers, no fruits.

I don't like it. It's a boring scent. But still a Shawn fan. :D

Goes from strong and manly to more soft and sweet

This is a nice smelling fragrance, but has "blink and you miss it" performance. It opens with tart juicy fruits (pineapple being the most dominant) contrasted with the sweet, creamy dulce de leche and maple sap. If you have ever had ambrosia salad, it smells a lot like that. Once it completely dries down, the musk is apparent. I find this a year round, all weather fragrance. The tart fruits are nicely balanced with the maple sap and dulce de leche. That balance keeps those super sweet notes from being sickly sweet in the heat. They arestill present enough to give the fragrance that little bit of coziness I like in cooler weather fragrances. This is a casual daytime fragrance that leans feminine but does have a lot of unisex aspects to it. Sadly the performance is dreadful. It only lasts about 2 hours and is a skin scent right from the start. I even tried a heavy application and that didn't help the longevity at all, but it did slightly improve the projection. The heavy stench of alcohol was a bit much when I oversprayed, but it did dissipate within a few minutes. It's too bad the performance is so poor, because I would have really liked this fragrance otherwise. I have a travel size and don't think I will be purchasing a full bottle because of the performance. Even at the cheap price this can be found for, I can't justify it for something I can hardly smell for less than a couple hours.

No offense to those who love this scent but to me it smells just like a body spray I probably used in high school before I even cared what my perfume was. You know the one. Always in a pink bottle with something like Chiffon or Love in the title with ribbons and bows on it. It's not going to win any awards for being sophisticated in the celebrity perfume sphere. I'm surprised this was marketed as unisex but I don't believe in gendering fragrances anyways, however it's hard for me to picture this on a teenage boy. It smells like cotton candy and not like "sporty citrus" "woods & pine" or whatever names they use to target that demographic. I bought this hoping for a dulce de leche note and unfortunately I'm just getting a generic spun sugar note, there's no creamy vanilla or milky caramel smell like I'd been led to believe. It's worth the $14 I paid, I guess, and I'm thankful I just bought the 1oz. which looks so tiny I had to double check the sticker that it was indeed a full ounce of fragrance. I'll use this one up quickly and never think about it again.

Listen, if just a hint of confusion and a dash of soft masculinity could be bottled this would be it. I sprayed Shawn's Signature scent on my left wrist and immediately felt like I was 18 again, sitting in a bedroom lined with inspirational guitar posters, nervously deleting browser history, and wondering if the way I looked at my best friend was, y’know a phase. Shawn is sweet, woody, and just a little fruity. Perfect scent for coming out to Sunday brunch at Oh Mary or for those college teens who want to smell like a polite Canadian singer-songwriter trapped between an acoustic guitar and a hard place. Be forewarned, the dry down lingers like a secret you almost told your college roommate after three tequila sodas.

Meh, I blind bought it and didn't like it, I started wearing it because I ran out of my other perfume and got used to it, I like it because is sweet but it lasts just a few minutes and it's gone, it's not bad but it's not something that I would care to buy again or ask someone what perfume are they wearing if I smelt it

Unisex but definitely more on the feminine side. In some ways this reminds me of CK2 which is also a unisex scent, and I’m shocked that nobody else has picked up on the similarities at this point. I get the appeal that others have but it’s not for me. CK2 often sits in my huge collection collecting dust so I’m not sure when I’ll reach for this one again. It does have a little more of a sweetness accord than CK2 but I kept waiting for the wood to kick in to even it out and make it more masculine. Sadly to my nose it’s just too girly for me. I’m more of a rugged manly man with a huge beard so it doesn’t fit for me, however it is a nice smelling release and I would never discourage anyone from getting this. I’ll give this a 7/10 even though I’m not a fan, I can see the effort from the brand and in my opinion this is a much better version of CK2. To my nose the most dominant notes in here are the Rose, musk, and Dulce de leche, all other notes take a backseat, but they’re there. Where it differentiates from CK2 is in the opening. Rose and musk notes appear in CK2 as well in the mid and dry-down and CK2 is more on the floral end of things, while SMS has a greater component towards sweetness.
