Atropa Belladonna

My new favourite! Finding it difficult to describe though, so apologies if this is a bit of a poor review. Shay & Blue describe it as 'An intoxicating beauty, heady, mesmerising. Beware of overdose' ... which confused me a bit as I had to smell closely on the first spray to pick up anything at all (especially compared with Shay & Blue's other fragrances where the opening notes are very obvious from the beginning). Atropa Belladonna opens up very gradually, so be careful with how much you douse yourself, because it's definitely intoxicating, especially if you assume that you haven't put on enough to begin with (like I did!). I found the presence of the blackcurrant to be fairly soft, though definitely present. Compare with the opening of Boadicea Glorious by Boadicea the Victorious for example, which to me, smells like blackcurrant squash (yet oddly doesn't contain a note of blackcurrant), AB is far more elegant and refined. Very beautiful, very feminine and not overly flowery. Possibly worth mentioning that I am sensitive to particularly heady fragrances, and often find myself with nausea or at worst, a migraine after smelling the wrong perfume, but I'm pleased to say that didn't happen with Atropa Belladonna. Hopefully others sensitive to strong fragrance can wear this too without a bad reaction.

The perfect fragrance to spritz on a hot bothersome day. So fresh and zingy like the chilled 4711 we used to keep in the fridge back in the Far East. The blackcurrant is very evident on the opening closely followed by the sharp bright narcissus. The vanilla, jasmine and patch stay quite low key at first but with time they reveal themselves, staying pretty lightweight.The blackcurrant and narcissus become quite low key after half an hour. Its a shame it doesnt hang around long but whilst its present it is very ladylike and polite like an English summer breeze.

It's not a masterpiece or super unique. BUT is that what we want all the time? Well, it is not what I am always looking for. I find this to be a fresh, bright, floral yet slightly creamy, versatile fragrance for warm or mild weather. I think it smells like a high-end shampoo and I love this fragrance for a casual, sunny day. It is fresh as in out-of-the shower, not blue or aquatic. It is cool (as in temp), uplifting and makes me smile the way bright sunshine on my face does - with SPF obvi:)

Smells like a Mediterranean refreshing cologne with a glam twist. I find Atropa Beladonna saves my sanity after long cold showers, since Scotland is moaning in sizzling heat, temperature-wise it is on the edge of the Sahara Desert. It does its job mainly as a body spray, as it smells exactly the same in the middle, as at the beginning and at the end - not even slightly catty blackcurrant, jasmine and patch in a simple energizing mix.

it makes me feel fresh and simple its a fresh and simple smell, however this is not my favourite but it is a pleasing smell out of 10 I give it a 4.

Where do I start. As a review above mentioned this perfume is underwhelming. Because of the name I think too. You imagine an experience like no other and then you spritz and you feel OK and now what?! Having said that ,it is a scent that I like. And it is a scent that metamorphose during the day. Yes I'd wear it only during day time. Someone said it is a summer scent. To me it is an absolute winter scent. It totally conveys the smell of a damp walk in the woods right after it rained, with this called fresh burst when you first spray it as if you just opened the door of your warm home to go outside in winter, and then this subtle smell that lingers on your skin almost like the damp wood of the trees that keep the rain smell longer. It does sound like it transports a person to a different world. Doesn't it. So why underwhelming? I think maybe because it is not powerful. I bought it wanting the scent it carries but with a stronger character. I wanted it to make me feel exactly as it does but with more depth. I wanted the woods and the rain, but also wanted to find a hidden chocolate hut in the middle of the woods. Like it? I do. Will it be a staple in my wardrobe? No, but I'll definitely miss it every now then.

I'm not able to wear perfumes with Jasmine, but wanted to try this since I was very curious about the line and what they have to offer. Not being a big fan of floral perfumes in general I would still like to leave an objective review since I believe this new brand needs more spotlight! AB opens quietly floral, like a soft careful whisper. The Jasmine comes forward quickly but isn't loud, which prompted me to wear it for a while to give it a fair chance to evolve on my skin. . The blackcurrant gives the fragrance a strange but enchanting dry/juicy sensation, like a moonlit garden in summer. The jasmine is blooming in the background and you're smelling the berries, dewy on the bush. A lovely if you can handle Jasmine, wouldn't mind a waft on someone else, however I get a headache wearing this, but that's my own cross to bear.... has nothing to do with the perfume itself. Recommended for Jasmine and fruity floral lovers who want something a bit more enigmatic and mature.

After wearing AB for 2 weeks now it’s time for my review: The opening - No, I admit I’m not a fan of the opening. But my recommendation to everybody sampling this beauty is to (try to) ignore the initial blast. It settles down really quickly and turns into a wonderful backdrop for the main notes to shine and do their magic. AB is listed under Floral Fruity but I don’t feel that this categorization does it justice. Normally I don’t like fruity fragrances, but this one made it into my life anyway. It has a kind of fruitiness to it without being fruity (does that make sense...?). If you’re looking for a fragrance that is a little bit different I suggest you give this one a try. It is self-confident and modest at the same time. It’s for women, not for girls, and it has character.

I'm disappointed. Gave it several good tries, and my reaction has always been the same: underwhelming. This fragrance simply doesn't live up to its name. At first you can hardly smell anything. But then it creeps up on you - this is perhaps the only brilliant part of it. It is a perfume that needs time to be noticed... After about half an hour I found myself thinking "what IS that scent?" I knew it was me, but couldn't pick the notes. It was vaguely vanilla and vaguely floral. The black currant note was virtually unnoticeable. To me this scent is confusing - an anticlimax because the concept of "atropa belladonna" is so good... People talk about this perfume being magical, but for me that magic is still masked.

You've escaped to the woods with your lover for a picnic and it starts to rain. Together, you laugh and giggle as you splash your way over to some leaning trees for shelter. It turns out that she had grabbed dessert before leaving your spot: fresh blackberries dipped in vanilla creme. After you both stop laughing and you eventually catch your breath, with the rain still dripping from your faces, she looks deep into your eyes, puts one of the blackberries in her mouth, and shares it with you through a kiss. I've been wanting this one for so long. The notes have been calling to me. Finally decided to take the plunge and buy the 30ml. I do like it. However, on me it is no more than a powdery, semi sweet, subtle skin scent for an hour, then it's gone. It was sprayed generously (understatement!) but I get no fruit and no patchouli, which is so disappointing. Something I would maybe choose to spray on after a relaxing bath before getting into bed.

On me this is a very mature black currant and dry patchouli scent for a person looking for fruity but not sweet. This is a dry, hippy type patchouli base. It's far from girly, it's a serious smell that I believe is unisex. It's not sweet enough for me.

Smells like a bowl of Love Hearts and Parma Violets, in a very nice way. It’s very floral and aromatic and, while I don’t mind it, it’s just not for me. Performance is middling - not too loud, not too long. I’m gifting this one to my mum.

The opening to this was lovely with the narcissus, I wish there were more fragrances with narcissus. But this dried down to something that smelt like a bodycream or a shampoo and the distinctive feel of the opening was completely lost. Not unpleasant but not exciting and a little disappointing given the femme fatale name.

Fresh and unassuming. Wearable, likable on your normal average days. Certainly good match for late spring, early summer. I totally feel the shampoo scent in this one. Not very exciting or alluring, just a non-descript scent for everyday.

Fresh, simple, feminine - but pretty boring. This reminds me of one of the So..? perfumes I was obsessed with as a teenager. As a result, this feels kind of juvenile to me. Definitely don't dislike, but not something I'd reach for.

It is Shampoo. It smell like generic badedas pour femme or intimate wash or cleanser. Most of all detergent tonic. Unfortunatly people are too much suggested by the words accompanying a product, and opportunistic companies make a nice bottle, they choose a niche market, but at the end they put bottles into those bottles synthetic odors similar to many others into. There is nothing magical or enchanted here, no fairy forest. I smell a teen ager edt. Again: smell clean like shampoo. Not bad maybe, but here is all about an eau de toilette you find into a supermarket.

Unfortunately, Atropa Belladonna was a miss for me. The scent gives off an outdated vibe that comes across as very unexciting. Instead of being smooth, it feels really screechy and sharp to the nose, and it dries down to be quite boring on the skin. Overall, it leaves the whole experience feeling very underwhelming.

Meh. As boring and inoffensive as they get, gave it to my kid who kinda-liked it the way you might like a hand wash. The name is a disgrace.

This smells like straight baby powder. I wanted to like the currant notes and that’s what drew me to it.
