Sorella

The notes do not lie. The first time I tried this perfume it reminded me of a lot of flowers. Like the amount in a refrigerator at a florist shop. Not that it is overpowering, but that magical. They are in the refrigerator maintaining their freshness. The fragrance also has a cool aspect as well as fresh. If you are looking to have something on hand to change things up from patchouli, oud, woody heavy overload.... this is a great reprieve. Not that I don't enjoy heavy woody perfumes, I do. But you must have a few different types of scents in your collection.

I chose this decant from a fragrance subscription service. Sorella, Italian for sister, sounded right up my alley, as I love high-quality florals (particularly either more natural smelling, or complex sweet powdery with a good base). This appeared to be the former, with red rose and violet leaf. I predicted the tuberose would sweeten those other fresh notes enough to make it sing on my skin. I was iffy on the violet leaf, but I absolutely adore Paris L'Essence by Balenciaga, so I have come to think violet leaf can offer a delightful freshness when used in the right amount. This smells like a straight-up grassy garden, which I guess I am not accustomed to, since usually there is some kind of base to smooth out/hold the flowers.The rose doesn't stand out for me, it is there, but the other flowers and the violet leaf have grown far higher and more successfully than the rose. The grassiness is almost unsurpassed. When it dries down a little it is more pleasant, but I guess I like my perfumes a little sweeter than this, or at least rosier. I am surprised by the low reviews, because despite me adding to them, I know there are a lot of true floral lovers out there, and this doesn't smell like the others, none of those smooth synthesized flowers, whether you prefer vintages or newer perfumes. No citrus, woods or musks are listed here, nor detected. That too makes this smell very different from the others. I hope to swap it sometime soon, someone else will surely like it. Judging from the other reviews on the net, this smell makes some people very happy.
