Angelique

Stunning. On me, a beautiful white floral with a creamy tuberose. I get more plum than peach, altogether this is quite a sweet one. A natural but clean jasmine appears in a largely supporting role for the tuberose, which is glorious. The tuberose has a strong vanilla note, backed by a very pretty non-gourmand, dry and slightly boozy vanilla on drydown. I sense a little plum wine nuance to the boozy note. The tuberose is very persistent, lasts from open to close, but also changes throughout, from green to fruity to creamy; this tuberose may be one of the finest I have smelled. The green notes are very subtle, giving a fresh lift to the opening. Beautiful balsamic Tonka bean-vanilla-amber-benzoin accord, matched with an otherworldly sandalwood. Soft but a little smoky, with a deep golden amber. The drydown has a skin scent quality, like warm human skin, with the tuberose floating above on a cloud of supporting florals, all very well composed and collegial, working together to create a spring meadow effect. This review is frankly more like working notes, since I just tried this for the first time today, and I definitely will want to come back when I have had a chance to get to know this one better.

This is, hands down, the best fragrance of Shiseido. It reminds me of Poem, not the same, just brought the memory of it... It has the same warmth, plum note, yellow and white flowers and the same romantic aura. Angelique is strong yet gentle and she will stay with you all day.

I bought this because Andy Warhol’s Angel was on the package. I liked the advertisements too. The 80s-90s was bubble economy time in Japan. Shiseido produced many great perfumes spending big budget for ingredients and PR. Angelique was one of them. I personally love 80s - 90s Shiseido fragrances. This one is a perfect floral sweet romantic date evening scent. Too sweet for my taste. However Angelique is definitely one of a kind. There used to be many great Shiseido perfumes but they discontinued most good ones along with the economy weakens.
