Memoire

Shiseido Memoire (80 ml. EDC, fish shape glass bottle, no batch code, 30 USD) Here is my another find in thrift shop. The bottle high deep in corner, remains in box. I take a Quick Look in Fragrantica. From another source this release in 1965, I believe my bottle is release Around 1970-1980 before it face falcon to square falcon. Later on the current release. I never experience Memoire. So I take a one tiny drop. I love carnation by the way. I stun, because. The smell I perceive is petit very polite and cute. Along with hefty dose of Ylang-Ylang. It is something. Same material as Santa Maria Novella - Eau de Cologne have. Later on when the soft spices start to come out. Create the carnation feel. And all the sweet powder benzonin note. Emitted by Aldehyde note. In Cristal clean manner. And the soft sweet violet ambient. No strong gasoline note. It just that sweet violet, candy like and the soft rose. The flower mingle over soft powdery ambery note. Just a touch on your nose. I don’t find this close to Chanel No.5. That’s much deeper tone. Yellow hue cold and warmth. While this is white and Rosy, purple hue. Chanel No.5 is straight Luxurious. But Memoire is kind of, clean and sweet. Clam and peace. It east meet west perfection. While scent is render in Western note but how the note walk like a Maiko (The early Geisha). The closest fragrance I can thing of is those “Classic Violet Carnation Powdery” realm. Such a delight for the night. (Yeah, I enjoy those benzonin Rose Ylang and Carnation, I just look for something like this But lite and for a night. I think if you didn’t want anything tuff. I think Memoire is good) From my prediction, I think this will be in-line with something Caron would release. Because it is really neat and tailor but in more Japanese style. Cultural. I could see certain Japanese warm lady repeating wear Memoire as their signature scent. Like, for whatever reason, but I am so happy to meet you - Memoire. Very good purchase for me. Ps. SO soft, rosey and gorgeous! Beautiful gentle and sweet. Heavenly.

23. september 2012 I don ́t know if this one is present in any other concentration than EDC, but since it is an EDC i have, then it is very soft. It is a very "close to skin" fragrance, good for splashing all over your body after bath indeed. I can smell a lot of rose with aldehydes in the opening with spicy carnation note. Later the ylang-ylang comes into play as well. Carnation adds a nice twist to this fragrance, otherwise it would have turn into something very "old-lady "stylish. Drydown is all about vanilla and heliotrope and a light trace of civet. I would say that it is more as a body splash, great for warm autumn or winter days. It stays close to your skin but you still smell it. Reminds me quite a lot of "Cantate" by Yves Rocher in the opening especially, but much more softer, less spicy and soapy. The more it stays on my skin the more i like it. The drydown is beautiful. Wish that the sillage would be better. You literally have to splash it onto yourself to smell it. But i decided not to get rid of it at least for now, since i really enjoy this scent. It is good that i have tried it once again before putting it for sale, since the very first time i didn ́t like it at all, when sniffed from the bottle. TRY IT ON YOUR SKIN, otherwise you might end up thinking that this smells like a granny, like i did the first time. But it ́s not.

@ passionata20 If I remember right, it had parfum version before 90s. Shiseido reformulated it and re-design the package then. The current version is a bit different but still beautiful. And I agree that one must try it on skin to know how beautiful it is. Sniffing from the bottle, it's just a soapy water. I still remember the first time I tried it on my wrist. It combines aldehydes and floral notes (mainly rose), a mellow, soft velvet scent. A peaceful afternoon, the sun beams through vintage lace curtain into the shadowy room, you could see dust danceing in the sunlight. And this is the impression that Memorie gave to me.

a soft, dreamy powdery rose bathed in heliotrope and vanilla, heaven in a bottle. No huge sillage, this is perfect after a bath in the evening. Love this.

The dry down of this fragrance is Chanel No5 all the way. It's eau de cologne so it's light and doesn't last very long, but it's so pretty.
