Criminal Lipstick

I feel like the name of this leads us on a bit. I was expecting a bright iris floral (which I wouldn’t have enjoyed) and it’s actually a soapy woody scent - sharper than I was expecting. There’s something dark and daring about the florals - not altogether feminine. There’s something very 90s about it, somehow. Sunglasses and sharp shoulders and red Estée Lauder lips and peachy chypres and hairspray and leather court shoes. In hindsight, maybe the name is perfect...but only after you’ve smelled it.

Does the name dictate the vibe, or does it truly capture the essence of red lipstick? It’s medium-weight (rather heavy), velvety, and leans more cool than warm - with a subtle hint of a cool breeze in a hair salon. I get distinct notes of grapes and pears intertwined with white florals. As it settles, it becomes even more beautiful. Even though it's not listed in the pyramid, it gives me a distinct pomegranate or grenadine feel.

got suggested this because i was looking for another lipstick themed perfume. i mistakenly thought it was very chypre at first but open learning the overarching accord is oud, i can just describe it as very inky and mature in a sexy milf way. very gen X i feel. a matte red lip, pretty accurate to the name. not a safe blind buy for sure tho!

Oud, iris, grape, musk. I expected a nice powdery lipstick scent, all I get is heavy oud. Can’t stand it.

I got my 5ml of this in the mail today. Sadly, it has a heavy dose of super-amber aroma chemicals that results in nothing less than a SUPER screechy musk bomb. The same super strong musk I pick up in something like Erba Pura or Vanilla Powder. Unfortunately to my nose, this drowns out all of the other notes in the fragrance. If you're not sensitive to sharp musks and super-ambers, you might have a better time smelling this.
