Smoke of Desert

#1557 in my "Tour de Fragrance" This is part of a collection called, "Poetry of the Night", and I take my hat off to whoever came up with that name, because it actually fits this scent perfectly (Not the usual over-the-top hyperbole we always see in this market). Nice! Masculine, but not overbearing. Incense, but not churchy. Leathery, but not animalic. Absinthe gives this some herbal quality without going all licorice and fennel. Most nicely balanced cashmere wood and leather scent I've encountered and there are many excellent cashmere wood and leather scents out there, but they tend to have different and more prominent characteristics. Too much cinnamon, too tootie fruity, too floral, too sweet. This is another case of "less is more." An attractive, good quality, comfortable scent that you will enjoy and your intimate partner will enjoy and remember. As to the "reminds me of" it's way more similar to Penhaligon's "Legacy of Petra" than Montale "Full Incense" (both great scents worth your money BTW). You could wear this to the office. It's not likely to offend anyone in tighter spaces, though it will certainly be noticed. My opinion is this is more a "night moves" scent you save for date wear. If you wear it to the office you'd spritz again at lunch. Not cheap, but not crazy expensive. FragranceNet occasionally surprises with better pricing on certain items like this. Most vendors want $208. FragranceNet has it for $125. You can get a sample from ScentSplit for $4.99, but I think this is a safe blind buy for most any man, and I'd love to smell this on any woman. I love this fragrance. I love it for winter because it's incense. I love it for summer because it reminds me of visiting old churches abroad on holidays. Incense fragrances come in many shapes and forms. This one, contrary to many others, is not at all harsh, burnt or austere. It is balsamically sweet, rounded and atmospheric, cosy and sensual. Liturgical but sexy. And the longevity on this perfume is amazing. Having applied it sparingly this morning, after 12 hours it is still very much there - and I have showered since! Crazy. It's never overbearing though.

There's something very magnetic about it. It feels linear, but in a good way. It doesn’t move, it just is. Church, yes, but something fresh and sexy about it... like a hot priest. Though the first association is masculine, it's the kind you want to get closer to. Feels very intimate to me. So my final verdict (as a woman) is: unisex. Love it on my man, and love it on me. Projection is moderate, not overpowering. Long-lasting. Fairly priced, too.

It smells like sweet church incense, good choice for church I guess.

The fragrance initially is so amazing. The churchy incense scent mixed with sweet resinous warmness is a great mix. However, the longevity on this is terrible. On the dry down it loses a lot of its complexity especially the churchy incense and elemi scents and you are just left with the woody sweetness, cashmere and leather. It would be a 5/5 but due to that, I would bring it down to a 4/5. I don't understand how people have voted it as long lasting on here. Maybe the dry down has longevity, but considering the dry down is so generic, thats not much.

I gathered a deep respect for this one after several testings. It opens very smokey, and eventually turns into a warm resinous note. It is quite intense, and a strong performer. I wear this for me and noone else. It is 100% unsafe to blindbuy this.

The opening of this fragrance is absolutely captivating, deliciously smoky, mysterious, and infused with a sensual, elegant incense. It has just the right touch of sweetness to make it alluring, without being overpowering like Montale’s Full Incense. Although it leans slightly masculine, on my skin it transforms into something irresistibly sexy, giving me literal chills. As it dries down, however, the fragrance loses some of its smokiness and complexity, settling into a simpler blend of leather and woods. While the projection and longevity aren’t exceptional, the opening is so intoxicating that I still find myself craving a full bottle.

It's sweet smoke with lots of resins. It's not a heavy incense note. Near the end of the drydown, it becomes bland to me. Edit: I see that others noticed that drydown as well.

Very similar to Filippo Sorcellini Lavs.This scent reminds you to stay in church.This scent has soul also.. I like elemi-incense scents
