Eau de Campagne

Sisley Eau d Campagne: 1976 Jean Claude Eilena "Chypre Floral" Notes in general: Bergamot, Lemon, Galbanum, Tomato Leaves, Jasmine, Lily of the valley, Pelargonium (sweet Geranium) Musk, Patchouli, Vetiver, Oakmoss, Plum, Basil Thank Goodness for Fragrantica helping me learn. It turns out that Pelargonium is a broad botanical of sweet Geranium found in South Africa, Zimbabwe and maybe your favorite mall shop. Upon open, I sense the lemon and maybe the licorice-quality of tomato leaves. Very soon is a bright and delightful vetiver mingling with some basil.(Sometimes Basil can have a licorice/anise quality.) The earthy and substance-wielding oakmoss is gorgeous. I love oakmoss. Some kind of wet-dirt, loamy, 'rooty' thing going on--is that Galbanum? Kind of a twangy fresh green dancing in a loamy forest. Uh, what?! Sorry, haven't seen your lost Gnome. 'Management eventually rises to its own level of incompetency.' I don't manage fragrances, but I have reached this point. Sisley Eau d Campagne is so different. I am starting to think that, overall, Sisley is different. Really excited about Sisley because they really are on a different wavelength. Sisley Eau d Ikar was a real changing experience. Not just the mastik (Lentsque) the stunning bottle by Polish sculptor Bronislaw Krzysztof, or the increible atomizer. My nose tickled my brain in a new way. Sisley is an example of astonishing evolution. It took them years to launch Eau d Ikar and it is clear to me how this happened. Sisley gets it--fragrance is an experience. You look at the bottle and the color of the liquid; you hold it, you depress the atomizer and note the feel, and lastly you gently take in the atomized scent. So--you look, you hold, you smell, you love. Sound like something else? You pervert, get outta here. I cannot pretend to know exactly what I am smelling. Most human noses fall short of that of a dog, a hog, a cat and probably drug dealers. Human senses overall are inferior to other creatures. Still, we do manage to muck thinks up, and still get it right once in awhile. I DO believe that some humans are gifted with a special snoot. OK. . I'm not gonna say, 'Grandpa liked it.' 'Reminds me of the taste of wild hickory nuts'. I know, I know---my reviews need to be shorter. I get to raving. What I will say is that this is not a formal scent as we commonly hold as 'formal'. Yet, the elegance of this fragance is such that it is really just a matter of confidence. A luxe summer-outdoor event with flowers, candles, soft music and pretty tables would be a good environment for Sisley Eau d Campagne. Madagascar Jasmine vines in the night on a nice patio. Kind of like that. You have to be in a relatively scent free or mildly scented environment to have impact with this fragrance. You can't go doggin' car parts at the salvage yard with this on, but you meet the nicest people at junkyards. ( I am actually not kidding.) It aint 'boardroom scent'. No. It is good to smell nice in the boardroom. However, you're never gonna get the deal because you smell nice, Ok?!. Where ya been?!!!! Sisley. . . . . . so different, does not last that long before it is a skin scent. I like this because I rotate alot. I recommend a decant because this is unique, so, so different and 'beyond' in class. It is a moment. Isn't that what we all keep near to us?

Perfect, a summer day spent walking through parks and gardens bottled. When I first stumbled upon my local House of Fraser department store, as well as being immersed in the world of Guerlain and discovering my beloved (and now discontinued and was unable to get a bottle of it) Marc Jacobs EdP, I unearthed the Sisley counter, I had never heared of Sisley but I was amazed by what I saw, a small perfume selection and shelves upon shelves of haute skincare, bodycare and haircare. What I love about Sisley is that despite their selection of fragrances being small compared to most, they are well made, have an impact and are evocative of another era; in a good way! Eau De Campagne was the first bottle I spotted on the counter and I duly picked it up and had a spritz on my wirst; crisp, refreshing and totally unlike anything else I'd either smelt or own, all through that summer and into the winter I coverted a few Sisley scents, Eau De Campagne, Eau Tropicale, Soir De Lune, just to name a few but after nearly 3 years of coverting, I managed to finally snag myself a 100ml bottle of Eau De Campagne complete with a 250ml of the matching shower and bath phytogel. The opening is a bright green symphony of bergamot and every single component of this scent possible; basil, tomato, galbanum, everything all comes at you at once before settling. When it settles, I get a fresh tomato leaf, basil and I can also smell parsley and grass? they're not listed and I do wonder if its either a combination of notes or if its a phsychological response because of how green EDC smells, but either way its good, when it reaches the mid it smells soapy, old school but not dated which makes you feel clean and freshly showered and during the drydown I can still smell tomato leaf and basil but the oakmoss is more pronounced and earthy, throughout all of EDC's stages I adore it, it doesnt smell stale or dated in anyway, its just fresh and vibrant. The longevity is good; 5-6 hours of wear with a light to moderate silage but I do feel like the warmer months will help this project more. Its office safe, perfect for casual wear, basically, EDC will work pretty much for anything without being offensive and heavy, it is well balanced in the sense that on a woman or a man it suits both perfectly without smelling "unisex" or either too feminine or masculine, where I live, this is a stalwart and isn't something I smell on anyone else. 100% repurchase, I just wish Sisley fragrance (and the black rose mask, saffron mask and black rose body cream for that matter) weren't so expensive, I almost hate myself for loving Sisley so much!

This is a barbershop old type clean smell that slightly reminds me rive gauche pour homme. The perfume is definitely for men, cant imagine a woman to wear this. I first smelled it on a paper three days ago and still smells very nice. Yesterday, i put it on the skin but it seems there are longevity issues. I dont know if the perfume is only for summer but i was smelling it only an our after the application and then, remained very close to the skin. The difference between the paper and on me, is high. I cant understand why because i never had longevity issues that much. once you apply it, you are smelling the greenest at a high lever with the tomato leaf to be the dominant note. The basil which is at the backround, gives further push to the tomato and the whole thing, is concluded with some lemon. After about 30 minutes to an hour or more, the tomato leaf and basil remain there but the moss i coming into the game and stays up to the end. This moss gives to the perfume the old type feeling and reminds tradition colognes like ysl pour homme. I like this perfume and bought a 100ml bottle but i'm not sure if I'm going to open the box or give it back to the store, not because i dont like it but because of the longevity. The thing is that almost every time i use a new perfume, if that is not heavy, i find my self not to be in the position to smell it, my nose has moods maybe. Once i use it again and again, i realize that the longevity issues are not so big or does not exist. For me, 5-6 hours max, is enough but with this, it seems that the problem is bigger. Even my wife was not smelling anything until her nose touches my skin. Either i have to go to the store to reapply from the tester or give it back. I see as well that there are several longevity issues with this perfume but again, I'm not sure because every skin is different. Millesime imperial is another perfume that does not last for most of the reviewers but on me, last for 9 hours or more. As the price is not low, i have to consider it again. I like it and take the risk, or give it back and loose this type of smell. I like old fashion smell but not powdery smells. I like Eau sauvage, acqua di parma cologna, armani pour homme, rive gauche pour homme which for me is one of the most masculine and unigue perfumes in the market but i never liked habit rouge, amouage gold pour homme, burberry pour homme and other perfumes that remind an old man with powder.

Lighter than what it was. But still unique! I first used Eau de Campagne in the early 00’s. Bought one summer, used and loved it but never went back. Years, niche and vintage perfumes later, I bought a new bottle. Yes, it’s lighter and more fleeting but it still maintains that bracing bitterness that made me love it. Galbanum galore, ripe tomato vines, and a soft shade of jasmine/lotv to make it more amicable. It doesn’t need it, but it is a welcome touch. I find it unique in that the vine is very realistic, giving way to the galbanum later on. It’s bracing, and just like the 70’s when it was born, it brings to mind many others (Aliage/Alliage, Private Collection, Infini, many Diors...) that defined the concept of endless days, summer sun and outdoor fun. Carefree. Light spirited. Happy. Like a cherished memory of times gone by... While lighter, although heavy spritzing helps, I highly recommend it, to lovers of green fragrances and as a general masterclass on what makes a perfume last for decades. Top notch Sisley! Side note: while Eau de Campagne has remained very faithful to the original, Eau du Soir has changed a lot. While it still smells fabulous, it’s been completely changed to something that smells more like Aromatics. Soir de Lune will be my next test to see how it has survived. Sad to see the change even though it is still among the best (current) chypres.

Reviewing a bottle from around 2015 (code 75008). Eau de Campagne was launced in 1976. Opens with a burst of potent citrus - mostly lemon with its' inherent bitterness and galbanum. This may be challenging for some people.Tomato leaf and basil are subtle slowly peeking through as the citrus wanes. Faint florals come in next followed by aromatic woods in the dry down. The citrus notes hang on to the early drydown. This is still a true Chypre with no cloying sweetness or overpowering vanillas as found in many of todays citrus offerings. Quality is good but was excellent if you can find vintage pre 2009. 4/5 Unisex. Performance is weak-moderate as expected for citrus fragrances. 3/5 Although I purchased this around 2015, I had been sampling Eau de Campagne since the late 80's. The herbal notes, tomato leaf and bitterness were more prominent and of course there was plenty of oakmoss. As a result, it was more complex, interesting and long lasting. I regret not purchasing this sooner ( the same goes for my beloved 80's Diorella ) but how many of us knew about the coming reformulations in those days. Overall it is still one of the freshest greenest fragrances without being boring. Longevity and complexity used to be better. It is, and has always been unisex and modern - way ahead of its' time. 7.5/10 - current 9/10 pre 2009

In my ever humble opinion the ultimate in grassy, leafy scents, Eau de Campagne is a must smell for anyone who is a fan of Jean Claude Ellena's works, as it shows that what could've been signs of his nascence reveal already a mastery of magnificent minimalism. Under the tutelage of Edmond Roudnitska, Ellena adds new pages to his playbook through this creation, introducing a countryside glow to the lustre of a green chypre. Tomato leaf and basil, in all their glorious verdure, green the nose immediately and are soon accompanied by lemon and bergamot. A chorus of pelargonium leaves and galbanum soon follow, and there is a point in the development where there is a sonorous, tea-like quality in the heart, which grows earthier and mossier, merging the showy with the contemplative. While not listed, the dry down reminds me of the musky, dusty green of angelica root, and there is some vetiver the bridges all the verdant vegetation into the base, clinging on like sinuous tendrils. An early marvel from one of the greats, Eau de Campagne is a summer delight and a true classic worth visiting for anyone who has a yen for all scents that are green.

همیشه عطرهای سبز و تُرش رو دوست داشتم مخصوصا اگر حس سنتتیک بهم ندن خیلی از عطرهای سبز و ترش با نُت هایی مثل سیب سبز،برام حالت سنتتیک دارن و درحالی که فضای کلی عطر رو دوست دارم اون حالت مصنوعی روی مخ میره و نمیذاره از عطر لذت ببرم اینجا با یک عطر سبز و ترش و خنک و حال خوب کن طرف هستیم که خبری از شیرینی نیست همه‌ی اجزای عطر سبز و تازه هستند.از بوته گوجه با اون بوی ترش و گَس گرفته تا گالبانوم که در شروع بسیار آشناپنداری می‌کنه و بوی ریواس مانند ای هم در شروع ازش می‌گرفتم که ترش و خاکی و آبدار بود ترشی ای که مرکبات در کنار نت های سبز دارند مکمل فضای سبز و ترش عطر هستند و وتیور هم بعد از مدت ای سر و کله اش پیدا میشه و با بویی چوبی و خاکی فعالیت می‌کنه اصلا حالت سنتتیک نداره و روند عطر هم گرچه کوتاه و ضعیفه اما از ابتدا تا انتها در فضا ای سبز و ترش و آروماتیک حرکت می‌کنه و از مسیر خارج نمیشه ************** scent:9/10 longevity:6.5/10 sillage:6/10 purchase value:3.5/10 ******** overall:6.3/10

Now who would have thought that this rather unassuming little bottle at the back of the Sisley counter would hold such a delightful surprise?? And why didn't I know about this fragrance before?? Eau de Campagne is green summer goodness in a bottle. And when I say green, I mean green! This is all about tomato leaf, basil, galbanum and a little squeeze of citrus for extra happiness. The overall effect is herbaceous, rather bitter (yes!!) and cool. It evokes a happy memory of lying on a shady spot of freshly mown grass on a sunny afternoon. Later in the dry down, lily of the valley and jasmine add a subtle indolic touch to the composition, but without turning into obvious floral territory. This is Jean-Claude Ellena at his very best! I can only guess at what this would have smelled like in the 70's, when oakmoss was still abundant...... The bath products are excellent as well.

Green, green green - green enough to suit even me with my obsession for green fragrances! This was one blind buy that I will never regret, and its by Jean-Claude Ellena who has created many fragrances that I love. It opens with a sharp herbal note that turns a little grassy, but you get the entire meadow here - grass, weeds, vegetation and a whisper of wildflowers, but it never turns sweet and has a beautiful earthy base. I do wish it had better longevity, lasts about 2 hours on me and stays close to the skin. I'm purchasing the body lotion and shower gel which should improve the staying power at least a little. This definitely goes on my favorites list!UPDATE; I have the shower gel and body lotion now, happy to say it definitely helps the fragrance last longer. I've just ordered another bottle of it too, love it that much!

I love the smell of tomato plants and so the fresh, bitter, herbal tomato leaf and basil topnote captured me immediately. This is a great, classic green that avoids the pitfall of some other green scents, which is seeming dated or austere--instead it's a fresh, natural, realistic garden (plants, not flowers) scent, which I even find comforting. The herbal top notes are short-lived and quickly give way to a sweet, dewy, slightly soapy greenness that is very close to skin. In fact, the drydown is sweet enough that I'm surprised some people find this too masculine for a woman-- I would say it really is a perfect unisex, but everyone has their own associations with certain notes so your mileage may vary. Performance-wise I wish this scent had better sillage, but the longevity is fairly good even when it's a skin scent.

Wonderful, classic Ellena. A blind buy for me after listening to a Fragrantica talks episode, and I don't regret it. Probably not the best performance, but it's Ellena so I've come to expect that, plus sometimes subtle and ephemeral is what I'm going for. (Update: performance is actually pretty impressive for this type of scent, it sits close, but is enduring) It doesn't smell like Eau d'Hiver, but what they have in common is the sort of distant, caught-on-the-breeze délicatesse, and they both give me the impression that this is how these notes work, i.e. you don't want them presenting as loud, beasty and screechy. Ellena's perfumes are the antithesis of Tom Ford for me, I'm glad they both exist but this is the high art to Tom Ford's cartoonish output. Blooms in heat, when the tomato leaf is a bit less dominant.

Despite it's beautifully nuanced composition, the overall impression here is of stripped-down, earthen simplicity. Like making a midsummer retreat to the back garden, carrying your sweating gin & tonic and a faded paperback, in order to sit in the shade of the garden wall, amongst the vines. It's extremely green and fresh, with the crisp, woody zest of bergamot and oakmoss. It has the clean, fresh spiciness of a men's bar soap, but with more lively, green nuances—like the prickly earthiness of tomato leaf, and the almost balsamic spice of basil. I find it quite similar to MMM From The Garden , but slightly more masculine-leaning, with a bit more sharp, woody zestiness to it, where From The Garden is somewhat sweeter, with more of a floral-fruity component. With that said, they're both pretty solidly unisex, IMO.

In the recently uncovered archives of letters from Count de Végétal to Countess de la Verdure, astonished historians came across the following passage: “My dear Countess, for all the virtues of Eau de Campagne by Sisley, one cannot but acknowledge its shameless ephemerality! It truly pains me that the honorable gentlemen d’Ornano of the Sisley perfume house have not entertained the somewhat audacious idea of creating an Eau de Campagne pur parfum concentré intense!” In her reply, the Countess most graciously shared her little secret, which consisted of taking baths in the fragrance itself in order to extend its longevity. The Count’s subsequent letters, however, historians were unable to decipher as the letters appeared to have become thoroughly soaked.

This is an olfactory treat! An intense and vibrant opening which reminds me of a country garden at peak summer afternoon heat - effervescent green notes dominate with bright tomato leaf and wonderfully natural smelling basil. Two hours later down this ‘country memory lane’ the hot afternoon headiness wanes into early evening and a herbal-green laced oakmoss-vetiver accord grows in presence... As the sun begins to hide behind trees and daylight haze cools down this fragrance settles in a similar manner to the odours of a country garden. Projection and sillage aren’t huge... wear this for yourself. TL;DR: this is a wonderful olfactory experience of a summer day in a country garden condensed into 5 hours.

Im a guy and I love this. Maybe I really pick up the tomato leaves, but to me its very very green almost like wearing a salad. Green notes are my favorite so no cologne can me green enough for me. It's unisex and I can see both men and women wearing this, but because there is nothing sweet or flowery about this one, its has a more masculine spin to it. Perfect for summer and hot weather. Its super expensive and that is too bad. I pick it up on eBay when I can and I got lucky recently to find a large spray for $44, It retails for around $150. If it were more affordable it would appeal to more people. For guys into cK One and Cool Water, I encourage you to give this one a try, break out of the ordinary.

I LOVE this fragrance- it has been my go to much of the last year, even when the weather is not hot, but especially when it is. It's one of the few scents I enjoy a lot that is also "office appropriate". It's so green and clean without any sweet, soapy, detergent like,synthetic ozone or powdery notes- often nice clean bitter green notes turn powdery on me, this one never does! I wish it was available more affordably. It doens't have the usual common obviously synthetic aquatic note either, but sometimes I do detect a hint of a masculine slightly aquatic note, but it is faint and unobtrusive. I generally dispise aquatic /ozone/marine type aroma chemicals.

So crisp! So fresh! So un-apologetically green! I'm a huge fan of tomato leaf notes recently so this is an absolutely wonderful smell to me. It's like someone took an almost-ripe ripe tomato plant, snipped off the biggest leaves, and put them right in my face. I get basil, some light florals and oakmoss growing in the garden as well. Very unisex all around. Worst part is how quickly it fades! Maybe a splasher would be better (and it does last significantly longer on clothing) but for the price I'm just not sure it's worth it unless you /really/ like the scent. I still would love to get a full-sized bottle one day so I'm not so scared of using it all up!

Tested this again and again and the longevity is really impressive... i put 4-5 sprays yesterday aroung 19:30 and today 9:20 i still smell the perfume and was smelling it all the night during sleep. it is close to the skin but elegant perfumes are not shouting....My wife loves it and reminds her clean fresh cut grass...but this is not in the way of 212 men....the tomato leal supported by lemon and moss are the main notes for me but the mossy feeling is not overpowering making it old fashion in that way. of course the perfume is romantic and a bit dated not because someone can't wear it today but because this type of perfumes are not produces today.

To me this is similar to the second generation of Vent Vert, but leafier and more gardenlike. The combination of galbanum and oakmoss is what makes these two similar in my mind. Eau De Campagne also has a prominent tomato leaf note, which gives it its unique personality. I feel like I'm planting tomato seedlings in a green grassy field on a gloomy day. A gust of wind brings some gentle musky floral accords into the composition, which remain present looming in and out of the greenness. So fresh and bold, yet somehow nonabrasive and mellow at the same time. Beautiful!

I finally kept the perfume and took the risk....and it was the right decision. The longevity, which was the main problem, is more that satisfied finally on me after tasting it some times....even after 5 hours, they still notice the perfume while i pass....The drydown is so nice and infuenced by geranium. At this point, the drydown, after 3 hours or more, reminds a lot egoiste platinum...is the same type of smell although the starting and middle notes are completely different. Very good choice but not for everyone as is considered weird perfume.

It's a wonderful, refreshing citrus/ green scent. I do get the tomato leaf on the opening but it sinks in with the rest of the citrus and aromatic notes quite quickly. On my skin the citrus notes yell as loudly as the green ones which is a disappointment for me. Not what I was looking for. The geranium note is also a bit too strong for me. The galbanum really starts to stand out after a short while. This juice is guaranteed to wake you up that's for sure. You can tell it's a good quality scent. I get moderate sillage and longevity.

WOW, what a masterpiece! One of the few fragrances that actually fits its name. Campagne means country and sure smells exactly like that, smell of garden vegetables and fruit. Starts with a fresh fig smell, like opening a ripe fresh fig and sinking your nose in it. Then it morphs into fresh cucumber picked right from the garden. Then once it settles down, transitions into fresh basil salad with greens. And for a summer smell, it is quite strong and has good longevity which is a bonus. Definitely will be part of my collection.

This has been my favourite aromatic for years. A misty, crisp, earthy dawn in a herb garden. Someone below said it sits between Jardin Sur le Nil and Guerlain Vétiver, and I agree, and add that it also carries a reference to the multi-facetted depth of Eau du Soir (but not its monstrous projection or sillage, thank goodness). I don't think it smells anything like MMM From the Garden (which I can't stand for its shrill tomato note). Eau de Campagne has an airy, dark green complexity which I find both energising and comforting.

It’s like I’ve stepped into my Iranian parents’ backyard garden. Full of tomatoes, basil, tarragon and other herbs and greens with only a few flowers. I get a ton of zingy tomato leaf and herbaceous basil on the top and maybe even some lemon rind. It’s all smoothed out by a base of soft and airy florals, and it’s the base you are left with after a few hours with just a hint of the tomato leaf to help you remember to go and spritz on some more. It would be lovely for a garden party or visiting your parents in their garden!

Eau de Campagne is a timeless fragrance that doesn't necessarily means old. A great balance of citrus, oakmoss and vetiver that speaks luxury, elegance and calmness. When I found out the nose was JC Elena, I just smiled.. Unmistakably Elena and it would have been a huge success if it was released under Hermes. The only downside is the longevity, approx 4-6 hours, but it's still acceptable... All Sisley products are very high quality. It's an underrated brand. I really look forward to a new perfume by them. -AB-

i spent some time to love this one because im not really green fragrances, but this one has something very woody and it smeells really the campagne, lands and gardens i love it, but it is not a sweet perfume, it is bitter and has something like when you scrash green it feels really nature, very chypré , it is not a fragrance for shy pepople, it is strong and not for the well thinking who want to be well accepted because everybody smells it like something bizare on me, just a few people likes it

Is it possible that Eau de Campagne has been reformulated? I bought this maybe 10 years ago and really fell in love with the scent. It truly gave you an authentic garden experience and I appreciated the strong scent of tomato leave that destroyed any suggestion of artificiality of the perfume. The bottle I bought 6 months ago smells more citrusy which makes the experience of the perfume smaller or thinner somehow. Is it possible there has been a reformulation or do I remember it wrong?

One of the finest green scents in existence, Eau de Campagne is refinement and joy bottled, with a living tomato leaf note, grassy and bright galbanum, and aromatic basil. The vetiver anchors it all quite nicely. A great one for the outdoors, perhaps for a nature walk or picnic, where the scent doesn't interfere with the natural surrounding but rather blends in appropriately. You can spray generously, as it isn't stifling whatsoever. A cheerful presence and a true classic. 10/10

My absolute favourite smell in the world is tomato leaves. I always buy tomatoes on the vine so I can get that smell of the leaves. Well this masterpiece has captured that smell beautifully. Aromatic, bright, herbaceous. Stunningly beautiful scent that lasts pretty well for a freshie at around 5 hours. Doesn't develop very much on me, so that opening stays on my skin for the life of the fragrance. Great alternative to citrus for sunny days. Must try if you haven't already.

Delightful fresh spicy aromatic green scent with musk on the dry down. A bit masculine, but in the most fun way for a woman. I picture a swift sunny breeze, with loads of Basil and Tomato leaf in and around it. Like a 70's-80's tongue-in-cheek James Bond on vacation. He's had a long day in the countryside sun and now he's showered in a crisp shirt and 5" inseam short ready for a casual date. Like his evening, Eau de Campagne starts light and playful and ends nice and cozy.

We all know that person, they could be of either sex but they have been our style idol since we met them in their teens. They are now in their 50's and they are still effortlessly chic. Whatever they wear it's always stylish, comfortable, elegant. They always look at ease and welcoming.They always have interesting conversation and know the best restaurants in whichever country you happen to meet in. This is what they smell like - clean, luxurious, herbal - delicious.

WeauW de Campagne! I can really see the massive herbal, fruit garden and the small old lime rendered farmhouse with red geraniums in the windows, a sloping hill, the forêt nearby. If you've been there, this perfume is it. Just after rain on a cool summer morning. All natural. Picture perfect. As a perfume it's extremely refreshing in an all natural way. Very elegant with lots of beautiful layers to discover. I'm soo very happy with this! Vachement bien!

Eau de Campagne in my Skin is a lighter and feminine version from Vetiver from Guerlain!!! This fragrance is extremely elegant, with a very good longevity and very distinct from the citrus scents that are being launched nowadays. When you spray, it is very green and sharp, but then a light vintage French herbal smell stays close to the Skin. The Sensation that I have is that I ́m on Holidays in the middle of a campagne! It ́s really divine!

This is actually quite complex for being a ’light, springy, green’ fragrance. Often Ellena is known as the minimalist. This is however an exception. The composition is masterful. The greatness of Ellena is his compositions always exceeds expectations. Begins unisex, ends more masculine, when it becomes more bitter. Timeless and a bit ’old worldly’ at the same time. Always very elegant.

This is not what I expected at all, but it's very lovely. I personally think it's perfectly unisex, though many might find it more masculine. It starts out very sharp, dry, and astringent, but not at all unpleasant, and dries down to a wetter, greener, grassier fragrance. Truly lovely, great for daytime and the office. Unisex; would be daring on a woman, classy/sexy on a man.

No doubt this is an incredible endeavour, a feat of perfumery. It's a warm Autumn Sunday, I've been for a run and am lounging in the sunlight watching TV wearing EdC. I keep sniffing myself, it's compelling, but I also feel like I've scattered salad all over my prostrate body. Lettuce, tomato, cucumber and maybe some herby olive oil. I don't think I'd ever wear this

The first fragrance by J-C Ellena? It is also one of his best, at least for me. I really enjoy the herbal-green-freshness since it suits me perfectly here in the hot, humid climate. It is not very long-lasting, but what is here in the tropics where scents are beaten into submission. Just keep on spraying is a perfectly fine solution. Completely unisex and a keeper.

Tomato leaf/stem is one of my favourite garden aromas. This classic EdT showcases it in a lovely and bright, elegantly grassy, mossy and earthy blend of freshly cut green herbs, countryside flowers, oakmoss and subtle citruses adding freshness in the opening. The drydown is smooth, clean and slightly soapy. Moderate projection and reasonable longevity :)

Yet another beautiful Jean-Claude Ellena scent. If Jardin sur le Nil (with its tomato note) and Terre d’Hermès (with its vetiver and citrus) are distant cousins, this is their common relative. There are nuances of both those later JCE compositions in this. Beautiful, sparkling, fresh green, with enough earthiness and bitterness to keep it grounded.

This is not just a fragrance, this is a smell of freedom, oxygen and happy life in unspoiled nature. It is deeply therapeutic, just as Hermès Eau d'Orange Verte. It`s like Chanel Cristalle without the melancholy. It is quiet but remarkable. Would recommend to people prone to depression or for those with stressful lifestyles. Love it to bits.

Absolutely divine. I don’t know why I waited so long to purchase this lovely green grassy beauty. Vibrant and juicy. This is perfect for warm days. I’m a fan of Sisley perfumes and this does not disappoint. If you like green edc with a woodsy backdrop, herbaceous with a slight basil and tarragon ripple this is perfect. Easily unisex. Super.

@Ms Superbolla, Is it possible that the citrus notes had faded a bit in your older bottle over time as you used it up? In general citrus notes are the first to go as a fragrance ages, and the other notes will seem proportionally stronger. Mine is 2 or 3 years old, and definitely smells like a vegetable garden allowed to run wild.

i hate generally green scents but this one has something woody and profound that i love it is some green notes from a garden by summer i adore it, cause generally i dont like green light notes, this one seems like hot tropical or sub tropical climates greens or mediterranean trees like cypress saule etc i want this !

In the 1970's I used to work part-time in a greenhouse picking tomatoes that were ripe. This fragrance takes me back to those times. This is a very green, herby fragrance, but mostly for me it has a strong tomato leaf note that dominates. Very pleasant scent that is unisex and one of the greenest frags in the world

Within the world of fresh green aromatic summer scents, Eau de Campagne is one of serious elegance. My decant that was kindly gifted to me was cherished until the last drop, and when I run out of a couple of certain other summer freshies I own, Eau de Campagne is a strong contender to replace them.

J'adore Eau de Campagne! It's everything I want in a Spring/Summer fragrance. A refreshing spiky citrus blast on opening, followed by mouth-watering tomato vine, herbs and earthy green goodness, slowly drying down to clean, soapy, musky quietness. A timeless French classic.

Tomato leaf note is dominant. It’s green, herbacious, savory and bitter. Perfect for extreme heat. Vintage but contemporary. It’s very expensive and I wouldn’t say it’s a must. But if you love tomato leaf I don’t think you can find a better perfume.

I just received this in a swap! OMG.. it is so clean! I love the herbal in the dry down. I find the opening a little bit more of a man's cologne but non the less i WiLL be wearing this gem.. especially in the summer/warmer months! :-)

A scent for the hottest summer weather: An uber-green blend of tomato leaves, herbs and bergamot. I don't pick up the lily or jasmine notes. I think this is an acquired taste that leans nostalgic due to its age.
