L'Eau Rêvée D'Hubert

The opening is absolutely beautiful. For the first few minutes, it smells as if you’ve just stepped into a sun-warmed herb garden and started picking fresh peppermint straight from the plant. Not mint candy, not toothpaste mint, but real peppermint leaves crushed between your fingers. Green, aromatic, vibrant, and alive. Beneath the mint there is something that immediately caught my attention: a faint earthy note. It reminds me of gardening on a warm summer afternoon. Fresh mint seedlings have just been planted into rich, dark soil and watered. The earth is still damp and dark, and you can smell both the greenery and the ground beneath it. You have traces of soil left on your hands as you continue working among herbs and plants. This earthy facet is what makes the fragrance special to me. Unfortunately, it remains very subtle. Just when I wish it would become more prominent, it begins to retreat and it lingers very delicately as almost on 3th-4th plan. On fist plan the subtle herbal freshness is coming. Very pleasant refreshment. As the fragrance settles, it becomes softer and more restrained. The bright mint gradually fades into the background and the composition transforms into something gentler and more transparent. It remains fresh and green, but now feels more like a cool breeze passing through a garden rather than standing with your hands in the soil itself. The fragrance never becomes loud or overwhelming. Instead, it lingers as a quiet whisper of greenery, herbs, and clean summer air. I only wish the earthy garden note lasted longer. That brief moment of fresh peppermint, dark soil, and living plants feels wonderfully natural and realistic. Had that accord remained throughout the wear, this fragrance would have been truly exceptional for me. Instead, it becomes a subtle, refreshing companion, elegant, easy to wear, and quietly contemplative. Less a dramatic garden experience and more the memory of one. What it smells like to me: A summer herb garden after watering. Fresh peppermint leaves. Dark fertile soil under your fingernails. Warm sunlight. Green stems. A cool breeze carrying the scent away before you can fully hold onto it. Rating: 8/10 Opening: 10/10 Drydown: 7/10 The earthy note: beautiful, but far too fleeting. I love it but I am open for more of this dampness! In any case- it’s amazing that on my skin i could still smell it- usually everything just leans flowery and sweet- but this not! There was a bit of damp soil on me- amazing! If your skin doesn’t always give sweet flowers and you are looking for this damp soil scent- this one is for you. I also fell in love with this scrnt!

L’Eau Rêvée d’Hubert surprised me from the very first spray. The opening is almost strange — a cool, green flash that feels synthetic for a moment, but in a way that’s too intriguing and too polished to be off‐putting. It lasts about ten minutes, this shimmering herbal‐minty haze where shiso, buchu, and mint swirl together in a way my nose can’t quite categorize. It’s weird, but in the best possible way — the kind of “what is this?” moment that makes you lean in instead of pull back. And then it settles... and that’s where the magic begins. As it moves into the heart, the fragrance becomes dimensional, atmospheric, and quietly mysterious. The papyrus is the star for me — dry, mineral, almost papery in the most elegant way. It gives the scent a grounding, a soft shadow beneath the green. Cedar adds clean structure, and the geranium brings a cool, aromatic lift without ever turning floral or sharp. The longer it sits on my skin, the better it gets. I can’t stop smelling it. The base unfolds into a smooth, earthy glow — oakmoss giving cool shade, ambroxan adding a warm, skin‐like radiance, and patchouli offering just enough depth without ever becoming heavy. It becomes this airy‐green‐mineral aura that feels natural, modern, and addictive. What I love most is the balance: fresh but not sharp, green but not grassy, earthy but still clean, easy to wear but never simple. It has that “substance at the bottom” — a quiet mystery under the freshness — that keeps me coming back to my wrist over and over. This is easily my favorite from my recent haul. It’s intriguing, atmospheric, and beautifully done. A green scent with soul.

This is the best shiso-forward scent I've come across. It's tell-tale aroma is immediately noticeable seconds after applying to my skin. Shiso has this distinct profile: spicy, aromatic, green, yet its also tart and tangy. I absolutely love the flavor as well. Here, the oil agathosma, or buchu, is used to elevate this effect. Buchu leaf is a potent oil: camphorous and minty, but also having a somewhat ammoniac, sulfurous blackcurrant component. It must be used in traces to lend the desired effect, and as can be imagined, is dosed just right here. The result has a cool pungency that makes my mouth water: I think it's absolutely brilliant. This transitions into a heart of rose geranium that when converging with the aforementioned, reminds me of the cut stems of roses and the leaves of fresh herbs crushed in one's hand. It begins to feel more humid and lush, as if walking through a greenhouse. This sensation remains until later in the development, which also reminds me of the grassy, musky leaves of pandan on a bed of cedar, with suggestions of warm, earthy nagarmotha oil. This is by far the best of Sisley's L'Eau Rêvée line, save for spectacular L'Eau Rêvée D'Ikar, which is essentially just a repackaging of the original D'Ikar release.

Very, very good, and certainly interesting. In the very first opening burst (almost tooth-paste-y and off-putting to me - though certainly inoffensive to others - peppermint and I are not the best of friends due to a scarring incident in my youth involving peppermint schnapps - a liqueur I do not recommend 🙄), reminiscent of Geranium Pour Monsieur by Frederic Malle (which is a good but not great scent). On the dry down, it’s a mysterious, shaded, breathing garden: L’Ombre dans L’eau without the heavy roses/blackurrants. There is a dark-ish green edge to it, but unlike Chanel Cristalle or 19, for example, it isn’t woody or choke-heavy-patchouli, but more crisp, like a hint of absinthe, or crushed stinging-nettle leaves, it is altogether very pleasant, soft, mysterious and I think genius. The whole collection is, actually, very good (I have tried 5 out of 6), and IMO, Isa, Hubert, Ikar and Alma are standout. Hubert is gone-gone after an hour. Even the skin-scent disperses quickly. Clings better to clothes. Beautiful quality ingredients from Sisley.

This is one of the few fragrances I have ever smelled where there is really NO (but, NO!) sweetness at all in it. This is what gives this its absolutely distinctive personality--nothing round, nothing sweet, nothing with a lot of body. So you get green stems (bucchu, mint, more generic green--which I suppose is the papyrus?), a bit of geranium, herbal mint and shiso notes, and then a smell that I can absolutely only describe as wet potting soil (I think it's the moss with the ambroxyn). And this all has a sunny, airy quality--like something wafting through a green house--rather than it getting forrest-y. Again, there is NO density to this scent. This is what really distinguishes it from, let's say, the Eau de Campagne by J-C Ellena. There, the tomato leaf note has some sweetness on the drydown that makes one think of the sap of the leaf, a bit of sweat, some warmth. There is NONE of that here. It's sharp and airy. For that, it lasts a remarkably long time. It is unlike any other fragrance I have smelled. It is weird. WEIRD. And I love it.
