Soir de Lune

I have only just begun collecting perfumes, and so I have no pro descriptors - I just know what I like. Until recently, I only had OG Panthere, La Panthere, Ysatis and Magie Noire. And recent edition Poison, as well as modern version Obsession. I like my perfumes to have backbone and character, and make their presence known! I bought this because the algorithm here told me if I loved Cartier's OG Panthere, that I would enjoy this (it smells *nothing* like Panthere, though). and this was a blind buy. I have the 50 ML EDP. I really like this! It makes me think of incense, churches, and yet it makes me think of spring flowers, such as lily-of-the-valley. You could wear this in spring, in winter when you need a promise of spring to come, and because of the incense I perceive in it, I would also wear it in fall. I wasn't sure how I would feel about this, but I do like it very much, indeed! In fact, I was searching for something incense-y, and to my nose, this satisfies that desire. One thing I did find, perhaps because I am mature and my sense of smell has probably dulled over time, it took three quick sprays on each wrist, and on the throat, to get the bouquet to make itself felt properly. I have probably over-applied it. I didn't rate the sillage or longevity, as I am alone today, and I just now put it on, so I don't know yet. I find the EDP version to be - something a bit two-faced - it smells like melancholic, smoky, rainy fall walks, and yet it smells like spring flowers. I think this one is not for everyone, and there is nothing young, gourmand, nor sweet about it (which is why I like it so much!) but it would certainly work very well where it is appreciated. ETA as it dries down and opens on the skin, I do get the wild honey aspect of this. I also get the smell of - paper money, in a fine leather wallet? Old love letters on vellum? There is something about the chypre perfumes I have sampled so far that give me this impression. Old world, Belle Époque, elegant and wealthy. Darn, now I want to know what the OG perfume smells like, lol! Edited this for the following morning: It lasts on me, with a second and then slight third application yesterday. This morning, it sits beautifully close to the skin, but still occasionally releasing slight drifts of projection. Still smells like church incense to me. So: first hour is a big sharp blast of what some call "granny" flower perfume, a bit reekie in a 1950's way. Calms down into subtle and elegant old world, "old money" elegance. Curates overnight into pure church incense. Perfect fall fragrance, and I love it for melancholic days.

If Starry Night had a scent, it would be Soir De Lune. Sisley scents are always like something from another era to my nose and Soir De Lune is no exception to this, despite its 2006 release, this is by no means a fresh crowd pleaser nor is it a standard fruity floral. Soir De Lune is quite grown-up but its not cold and unapproachable, its warm, velvety and comforting, its also quite a power house and isn't for the faint of heart! The initial opening reminds me a lot of older Chypre scents such as Mitsouko and Estee Lauder Knowing, but when that intial, almost aldehyldic blast settles, a plush rose emerges which is both velvety and a bit waxy (like lipstick), the spices here work beautifully with the rose and add warmth and body whilst iris gives some soft powder, I can't detect many of the other notes in the composition aside from the rose, iris, nutmeg and pepper oil, Its so seamless and all the notes sing in harmony together which creates an air of elegance and Parisian chic; think a trench coat, a silk blouse and sunglasses walking along the Champs Elysees during a cool evening. I agree with the comparisons to Estee Lauder Knowing, I used to own a bottle of Knowing but rehomed it after I struggled to get it to work on my skin, but I wouldn't say that they smell identical, Soir De Lune is softer, more elegant and easier to wear than Knowing, it also blends better with my skin chemisty without smelling like talcum powder which is how Knowing would often end up smelling on me. The silage is amazing, two or three spritzes at the most produces an elegant trail whilst the longevity is super; 8+ hours and often it lasts through showering. Its for sure a fall/winter staple and while I would choose to wear it for big events and nights out, I actually also feel like its perfectly suited to being worn with jeans and a baggy jumper to a coffee shop, I find it very versatile despite its powerful nature, also, the bottle is a work of art too! Future repurchase for sure plus the matching body lotion I got with my bottle smells gorgeous too!

Sisley’s Soir De Lune is an underrated masterpiece by Dominique Roppion. She is serious, but sparkling. Delicate, and dense. Like the full moon on a jet black night, or like fragile details of anatomy carved into a marble statue. In fact, this brilliantly complex perfume may be my favorite Chypre in existence. Every featured note in this has a chance to shine, and the supporting characters add so many layers of beauty and intrigue while maintaining a sheerness that is absolutely addicting. This particular Chypre opens with a bubbly, fuzzy peach aura; and then like others have described Soir De Lune plunges you into the depths of Rose, Oakmoss, and Patchouli. While I may detect aldehydes alongside aromatics in the opening, I wouldn’t classify this as overtly aldehydic. Roppion carefully utilizes the classic ingredients of a chypre and creates something timeless, yet wearable for even the most discerning 21st century perfume lover. Sillage and longevity is exceptional as well. Every time I wear this, I pick up a new experience- Rose is always there but she dances with different partners every time. This is knockout French perfumery that enchants you like an entire orchestra playing in complete symphonic synchronization; opposed to other perfumes that tend to feature solo notes played above supporting roles. Everything has their moment at the same time in this- and the joy of the wearer is in tuning into different notes throughout the piece. Like Chopin, Sisley’s Soir De Lune is the union of harmony and melody. She IS the moon in the sky playing with the stars while humanity and the universe dances on.

This a wonderful little gem. Starts off as basically feminine leaning rose fragrance to my nose, albeit a very interesting, refined and high quality one. At this stage it makes me think of something a well-to-do older woman might wear... the kind you might see perusing around Saks on a weekday morning. Then it starts to get a little earthy, a little spicy, and really mossy, but still with that rose backbone, and it is a simply beautiful, unisex floral chypre during that stage. Then eventually, and this is where the magic really happens for me, in its third stage it starts to get deeper and heavier, more complex and challenging. To my nose it becomes rather resinous and the floral notes shift from rose to Tagetes. Oddly, in this stage it makes me think of a toned down, subtle version of Serin by January scent project (that one’s a thick, heavy tagete bomb, which I love but can be too much at times), even though they really don’t share any notes. I’m aware this is marketed towards women, but I am a 40 y/o male and feel totally confident wearing this. As an aside, I love the way Sisley handles oak moss as a fragrance material. It seems their fragrance collection is very cohesive, and several of them seem to be variations on a theme, and I think the common thread is the oak moss. This is quite different than Eau du Soir, which I also really enjoy, but the similarities they do share I think is because of the shared oak moss base.

Like Sisley's beautiful Eau de Soir that I reviewed recently, Soir de Lune is a top-notch floral chypre. It is sweeter and spicier than Eau de Soir, as well as warmer, darker and more opulent - the autumn/winter version of the airier EDS. Housed in a beautiful bottle of which I have a miniature, SDL is deeply enjoyable throughout. From its fruity opening to its dense floral heart, it is fairly classic in style, set apart by the inspired inclusion of honey in the base. SDL opens with juicy citrus notes, given some sweetness by a hint of peach. Soft spices emerge early on, adding warmth. Powdery florals follow, led by iris, but with clean jasmine and some rose evident. Sweet mimosa follows, and the effect is rich and dense. Honey keeps the florals richly sweet as the mossy chypre base emerges. The drydown is inky dark, led by vintage-style oakmoss. Soft woody notes round it out, and a sweet amber effect is given by the honey and musk. Patchouli enhances the chypre accord beautifully, remaining until final fade. Sillage is strong and longevity is long-lasting. Feminine-leaning and best worn in autumn/winter, it is opulent but wearable. A beautiful modern chypre made in the classic style, SDL has a few points of interest that set it apart - namely the use of honey. An underrated masterpiece from the exceptional Dominique Ropion. 4.5/5.

SdL = Deep, dark, dense, forest perfume magic. Niche quality. A complex, rich, woodsy, chypre bombshell beauty, *drenched* in Honey (minus the sugar). Unique among today's mass market perfume-boom. Top shelf stunner- Oozes Opulence. Seems far too good to be a current composition- More like an old-school, pre-IFRA, oakmoss-laden masterpiece, for which we are forever hunting rare, forgotten bottles @ upscale Estate sales & secret vtg. parfumeries. Timeless. Dig it! AMPED Sillage & Longevity! Impressive value- performs like Extrait layered w/ EdP. A very little pale juice goes a long way. A single spray wears 2 days, even 'thru showering, & it's captivating trail lingers for months on sweaters/coats. Too much is ruinous. Spritz in air & walk through. Like all the greats, this is a poor blind-buy bet. If you tend to prefer fruit/florals, this probably wouldn't appeal to you. Definitely try before you buy. If you're in continental US, I'm happy to share a sample. For reference, my other favorite heavy hitting chypres include vtg. Miss Dior (1947 original) & Dioressence, Mitsouko, Aromatics Elixer, & the more contemporary Portrait of a Lady... If you like those, you may be interested in sampling Soir de Lune. (Pls remember- Other than name, the original Miss Dior of 1947 bears 0 relation to Dior's current eponymous fruit punch).

Je ne suis pas convaincu que SDL brille par son originalité et à l'heure où les restrictions sur la mousse de chêne nuisent aux chypres traditionnels, sa face "patchouli", un peu néo-chypre, lui donne tout de même une belle personnalité sombre et il est brillamment exécuté. C'est là, selon moi, que Sisley excelle! Il y a de la matière. Synthétique ou naturelle, le débat n'apporte rien et peu importe. On porte SDL comme un beau vêtement bien coupé. Avec cette petite raideur de dame stricte en tailleur, il exhale toutefois une réelle sensualité. Il m'évoque aussi une scène de cinéma en noir et blanc, un vieux film italien, où quelqu'un de très bien habillé quitte précipitamment un rendez-vous galant... Il y a une pointe de laisser aller, de débraillement, mais les bases sont là. Un très beau parfum, qui fait une forme d'apologie d'une autre époque ou un exercice de style sur un sujet qui n'a plus la faveur du plus grand nombre. Mais ce "plus grand nombre" n'a plus l'éducation olfactive pour ce type d'accord. L'industrie et le marketing formatent au prêt-à-sentir vite fait devant les rayonnages surchauffés de ces boutiques où on débite des sucreries et des conseils ineptes. Ses cousins, selon moi, Chanel N°19 et 1OOO de Patou, un autre grand favori du passé.

This is a wonderful creation that calls to mind the meditative tranquility of Debussy's "Clair de lune". One might imagine a woman taking a midnight stroll under the stars, her perfume trail intertwining with the cool, earthy night air. It juxtaposes a sharp greenness (coriander, lily of the valley) against a rich, creamy triad of rose, peach and tangy honey. The honey brings to mind the scent of pollen that hangs in the air during the balmy spring evenings, when night-blooming flowers start to hum their tune. The sweetness is balanced expertly by a blend of dry, woody spices (pepper and nutmeg), adding restraint to the peach, which can so often veer into 'shampoo' territory. It is further restrained by the oakmoss, which envelops all the other notes in a thin shroud of smoky earth. I am reminded of Guerlain's "Mitsuoko", which was no doubt a huge influence on the composition. However, I think "Soir de Lune" is perhaps even better. The layers have real weight and depth, and no one ingredient over powers the other. In terms of wearability, it definitely smells more mature, although dubbing it "old lady" perfume is a bit dismissive and shallow really. It's classic, elegant, something you would wear to a piano concert or an art gala.

"Power comes from inner peace". This is a timeless classic that embodies that saying perfectly. Smells expensive and aristocratic like it was made in another age. Goes well with formal business and evening wear, academic small talk and a glass of fine red wine in your library. Rose, honey and oakmoss develop great on my skin, later sandalwood dominates, which is still underlined by honey and moss. Worn once after a warm bath, it smelled smokier, sweeter, much more powdery and incense-like. Maybe it was the mimosa and the iris that develop more in the warmth and create this effect. In winter it is more soapy and earthier. Incredibly potent and longlasting. It's perfumey - and yet, at the same time it's not. You smell like expensive soap and some high end perfume, but you won't smell like cheap chemicals. It is strong, balsamic and grounding: it is reminiscent of the forces of the earth, but still elegant and distinguished. For that reason it's also my "calming" scent - I like to wear this to bed after a stressful day. Soothing power of honey, blooming rose and the dark green of the woods. Addendum: If you are looking for something similar but less potent, you can try AP Eau Emotionelle or NR for her edp.

Sisley is a house built on great quality ingredients (from around the world) and I love it for their refinement and dedication to create beautiful fragrances and amazing beauty products. This, to me, smells so French!! It just smells like the South of France, in the country side. It smells like sunshine and honeyed fields and a soft warm breeze. I cannot get enough of this beautiful fragrance. It is very well blended and though the honey is prominent, it also smells very aromatic and floral. Soir de Lune (Evening Moon) would suggest this fragrance should be worn at night or on a date but to me, it smells like bright sunshine so I definitely wear it during the day. It is potent at first but it doesn’t stay that way. Soon, it calms down and stays close (at least, on my skin). I absolutely love the way this scent develops on my skin. It smells so cozy (the honey, I presume) and so bright at the same time (the floral notes), and yet so spicy and refreshing! I know this description doesn’t make it justice but if you love aromatic scents, or honey, this is definitely worth a try. This is Full Bottle Worthy in my book! Love, love, love!

Quoting /mitsouko below, "Eau du Soir is restrained elegant, Soir de Lune is more baroque". Yes, yes and yes! "Baroque" is one fitting word to describe it. I also agree with /alphairone below who says it's underrated and that Soir de Lune reminds him of manuka honey. I never thought I'd like to smell of honey but this, while smelling, indeed, like natural honey of the highest quality, is something non-gourmand. It's magic - I don't know how the perfumer achieved this. Infinitely feminine, in my opinion. Like a golden shimmering veil of naturally sweet honey. I can only detect the Eau du Soir base layer outdoors out in the wind. Other than that, they are, to me, completely different. /mc1995 says the Eau du Soir is more "pour homme" and Soir de Lune - "pour femme". Yes, on the one hand; on the other, it could be the same person in different moods: one - a colder, serious, more cerebral, and grounded while the other - frivolous, flamboyant and erotic. It certainly makes you think a certain way! It's also incredibly warming. Oh, and it lasts forever and projects well. What's not to love?

An underrated masterpiece from Dominique Ropion from the equally underrated house of Sisley, Soir de Lune is one of the best floral chypres of the 21st century that few know about. It opens green-spicy, peachy, with understated citruses, with a dreamy rose de mai carrying it into a soft-hued floral heart. This is all drizzled with honey, with the accord reminding me of aroma of prohibitively expensive manuka honey, earthy, bittersweet, almost barley-like. The vivacity of the opening transitions into a darker, moodier direction, salty, bitter, brooding woodiness, the honeyed rose dampened by a brooding oakmoss and its dry down feeling more reflective. Powdery white musks descend further into its development, while traces of peachy keen green rose linger. The sumptuous nature of Soir de Lune may be an acquired taste, but for those who appreciate the artistic refinement of Frederic Malle or Chanel les Exclusifs may very well be impressed with this gem. Luca Turin gave it a generous 1 star, so that alone is worth seeing what the fuss is all about!

This is my favorite fragrance of all time. And I don't even own it. And I never have. Hopefully I will some day. This scent is so enchanting. Every time I get the chance to smell it, I do. I spray it on my coat. I don't think there's anything like it. Knowing by Estée Lauder does come close, but the honey accord isn't as strong. Soir de Lune made me realize i love honey-notes. The thing is, there is almost no perfume that actually smells like honey. But this one does. It also made me realize that I love chypres. Someone once told me, if you like one Chypre, you will love all chypres. This perfume is fragrant of honey, but not the sweet candy like smell that you mostly get from perfumes marketed as honey-scented. Soir de lune smells like everything that comes with the making of honey. When I was a child in summer we'd often visit a bee farm that was located on the border of a forest. That's what this smells like. Dry mossy oak, dewy flowers of rose, jasmine and Lilly of the valley, and an intoxicating realistic honey.

A masterpiece by the great master Dominique Ropion meticulously respecting the courtly rules of the prestigious Sisley maison, essences and phytoextracts of the highest quality. Fragrance for demanding and refined noses, which brings together a magical triumph of precious essences masterfully blended together. Soir de Lune by Sisley recalls the sumptuous and elegant vintage fragrances with triumphant, hyper-feminine olfactory pyramids and with unimaginable temporal olfactory evolutions. The opening notes are citrus, sour and volatile, leaving room for a sophisticated and rich bouquet that praises the magnificence and floral multitude offered by spring. Fragrance of great charisma, full-bodied, structured at times dark, dark, earthy and musky with this refined sweet note of honey in the background which makes it a fragrance: enveloping, creamy and reassuring that accompanies and pampers over time. Undoubtedly a Sisley masterpiece for lovers of fragrances of the highest quality and great charm. I love it madly.

Soir de Lune is a true gam on today's fragrance market. I adore it so much! It's modern classic! I don't even want to attempt to describe its smell, because I know, no matter what I say, will never be good enough. I just want to mention that it made in a same fashion like Paloma Picasso or La Perla by La Perla. There are not too many similarities with those in a scent department, but they all belonging in the same "club" of gorgeous, memorable, evening-special occasion, super long-lasting, divine on your skin fragrances. Suir de Lune does seem to have the "youngest", most youthful, light and airy personality compare to the other two. It is an aromatic, spicy, green/floral. Fresh rose scent really stands out. Again, this description is really poor and there are so much more going on here... The only negative: I wish, I can wear it more often, but to me, this is just way too special for casual wear. I know, there are some ladies out there that can pull it off for everyday and I am jealous :(

I've read all the reviews of Soir de Lune and the predominate descriptions seem to use words such as 'masterpiece', 'elegant', 'refined' and 'special'. Well, having blind bought this today and tested it for the first time, I'm here to tell you: It's all true!! My interest in perfume has been waning a little lately. There have been nice perfumes; perfumes I can appreciate, but none that have really captured my heart... until Soir de Lune. Like others have said, it's hard to describe. It's a floral chypre and the first few moments remind me a little of Jean Louis Scherrer with its blast of green and oak moss and a retro vibe. But very quickly, it veers away from it's mossy opening and the honey and rose starts to bloom. I can understand at this point the resemblance to Agent Provocateur in that the rose and spices are here, however it is much more 'refined lady' than 'sexy vamp' as in AP. I am enjoying this immensely and am already considering hoarding more bottles.

This fragrance lasts FOREVER on me. Like a classy old lady, there is something so glamorous and luxurious and so, so sexy about this scent. I love to spray it on my lingerie, because then it lasts even longer, and gives them a sexy, sensual, expensive feeling. The small sample bottle I have has become my holy grail and I only dare pull it out for really special occasions. The oakmoss is so, so beautiful, and the perfume as a whole has a lovely earthy, slightly green vibe. I feel simultaneously like a woodland fairy and a sophisticated, fabulously-rich old woman. It's also a bit woody to me, but I'm not sure why, because sandalwood usually smells very sweet on me. I love to spray it on my chest right over my sternum when wearing a low-cut top... it definitely has the desired effect, if you get what I'm saying... 👀 In all, a beautiful chypre scent, and I'm saving up to buy myself a full bottle which I feel is absolutely worth the price.

I've had Soir de Lune for a little while now. She is a complex nymph, difficult to catch. To admire her is to admire the stars themselves. The silvery moon in all her glory. Like moonlight, she cannot be held, only dreamed of; wished for. Soir de Lune begins quite bright, almost citrusy, but not quite. Not quite green, like a garden after the sun has gone to bed. Aromatic is the best word to describe her as she dries down. Glittering. I can understand that a fragrance ingenue may not have the nose to understand her, but let me assure the avid fragophile, Soir de Lune is worth every bit of attention her name recieves. This is a beautiful, classic and genuinely luxurious fragrance. Like the original Eau du Soir, Soir de Lune is very unique and that in itself highly recommends this wonderful silvery concoction. The bottle captures the spirit of Soir de Lune so perfectly, the experience so fantastical, to wear her is a privledge.

Very good chypre with rose. Soir de Lune has all the "dirty" and dark qualities of a true chypre, yet it's still very soft and rounded, easier to wear than many other offerings in this category that often tend to lean a bit dusty and sharp. If this fragrance is too much for you, don't even try Mitsouko, chypres are clearly not for you, better stick to your Kayalis and Delinas. Saying that, I don't think it's that "witchy", or at least the witch who's wearing it doesn't live in any cottage in the middle of a dark forest. To me it’s more of a elegant vampire fragrance, and that’s a vampire from more modern interpretations, who doesn’t get burned by sunlight and lives among people. Soir de Lune feels like fall, but it's easy to wear all year long if you miss the autumn vibes, I think it's signature worthy and my new go-to rose chypre. Oh, and the bottle is a unique work of art, it's hard to resist if you're a perfume collector.

This is one of the most exquisite and hauntingly beautiful perfumes that I have smelled in a very long time. Without going into the notes, (which I'm not that great at identifying), this is Chypre in genre, & I swear that I can smell violets in the opening. I also get a gorgeous bouquet of flowers where rose and lily-of-the-valley seem to predominate along with the spiciness of Jasmine. The perfume is outstandingly potent and lasts forever. It is only removed by washing vigorously. I am reminded of Estée Lauder Knowing when I wear this, it has a very similar vibe, but is darker, more intense and to my mind, more complex. There's a lot going on here. SDL is utterly sophisticated and should be worn by a woman and not a girl. I also think that it could be worn by a man, although it is not strictly a masculine scent. SDL is a magical elixir, an olfactory journey into the boundaries of heaven. Gorgeous!!

I tried it several time since it came out. Well done, quite conventional, great quality and that's about it. Typical Sisley. Testers of it kept piling because sales ladies kept giving them to me. Until one of them gave me body cream. Oh, dear...how on Earth could I disregard something this good? Everything just fell in place. You see, when Sisley commissioned new perfume from Dominique Ropion they didn't gave him time limit or budget. The Sisley clients are big spenders, rather conservative and they recognize quality. So after Eau de Campagne and Eau de Soir they've got this. Thick, opulent, creamy and decadent. It doesn't shine with originality, but it doesn't have to. It's constructed with so much care and with the best ingredients available. And that body cream is incredible. I can't afford their cosmetics all the time, just occasionally. And from time to time a big giftbox of Soir de Lune.

This is a witchy fragrance dominated by the interplay between pungent, bittersweet herbs like nettle and chamomile on the one hand and a radiant, golden, oozing honey on the other. This is the scent of nature transformed by dark magic. If you've read Madeline Miller's 'Circe', Soir de Lune would be the fragrance depicting what Circe has become after she breaks away from home and starts finding her power. Although this is a dark fragrance, it retains an internal glow that seems to come from the honey. This isn't dank, hollow, eternal darkness (that's Black Orchid). Incredibly dry, the chamomile and hay have been baked in the sun for days in preparation for this honeyed potion. It's outdoorsy and yet it's a beautifully elegant, formal fragrance. I don't believe it has any true smell-alikes out there, not even in the chypre family. A contemplative, introverted (but super strong) masterpiece.

This is my signature winter scent. When i smelled it for the first time in perfume store I hated it but it grew on me, now I love it from the first second. It's perfect mood lifter for me and it brightens my every day in the winter (I hate winter). I wouldn't wear it in any other season, I think it's matching cold weather and warm clothes. The longevity and projection is great. I usually use 5 sprays of every perfume, I used this amount in the morning last week and after lunch I was still getting compliments from my colleagues. Despite the honey it could be considered as unisex perfume. Some people say this perfume is more for older, mature ladies but I wear it since I was about 25 and I don't care if it matches my age or style, I feel it's part of me.

This is my HG fragrance, became addicted to it as soon as it came out. It's a beautiful feminine, mature, sexy, sweet, sensual, mysterious and somehow radiant scent. It's got a strong opening, which may put some people off, but after some time blends with the skin scent and becomes a deep sweet scent. This fragrance is a fusion of peach, bergamot, mandarin, lemon, coriander, nutmeg and capsicum pepper oils, May rose centifolia and mimosa flower absolute, jasmine, lily of the valley, iris, moss, musk, honey, mimosa, honey, sandalwood and Indonesian patchouli. I also love the honey component of this scent. The bottle is definitely beautiful and well thought of, but not too convenient to carry around. Would repurchase this without even thinking.

Astonishing fragrance but I find it too similar to Paloma Picasso, maybe more floral and more powdery. Paloma Picasso is more animalic. I agree with other people here in that it is also reminiscente of Coriandre, all fragrances I love. To Knowing and Parfum de Peau I do not find it similar. For the price, the strength and the silage, I rather wear Paloma Picasso Edp or Coriandre. Having said that, this is one of to me the nicest scents I ever smelled. Absolutely beautiful. And staying power and silage are also very good. It is classy and sophisticated, like very few fragrances these days. This is what I would expect from any designer fragrance, but unfortunately, fragrances of this quality are a rarity.

This fragrance takes you on a high ride. In one word fabulous. The first sniff I got a somewhat aldelhyde vive. In my opinion this smells like a more sophisticated Arpege. What I imagine a vintage bottle of Arpege might smell like. Sisley Soir de Lune takes everything up a few steps in terms of class, elegance and style. Beautiful combination of scents that has given birth to what will undoubtedly become a classic perfume that will have our great grandaughters wishing they could have this precious jewel in their perfume collection. But we have it now ladies. Let's give her what she deserves. Our praise and exhultation. She is worth every penny spent on her.

I like rains and misty weather, being a grumpy misanthrope deep inside) And nothing can please me more in such weather and mood as Soir de Lune. Because its hauntingly beautiful, has ghostly presence of English Victorian lady in style of Nicole Kidman in movie “The Others” and its not intrusive one, its just adds what is missing – beauty to your own soul when its in mood for good thinking The honey, rose, coriandre and moss in Soir de Lune are singing an aria of discreet elegance, its like wearing long gloves and walking under an umbrella in silence – you got the picture. Dainty, airy, classy, exceptional...Nice to be like that once in a while.

What can I say that hasn't already been said about Soir de Lune? The elegant bottle is quite a revelation of the fragrance's character. It's an enchanting, honeyed rose chypre that puts blush on my cheeks. A dewy springtime kiss from Heaven. I love it so very much. Is it "old-fashioned"? Sure. I find that all of Sisley's fragrance offerings have an old money sophistication to them. But Soir de Lune is very special and wearable for even young women of taste. Sisley is keeping the art of perfumery alive and staying true to their work! Just a note: the mossy patchouli dry-down can be overbearing for some.

I love this perfume and I'm so happy to use it. I have quite old memories with it, because years ago my piano teacher who used to have the most delicate and rich perfumes had this one too. For me it is difficult to separate the notes from each others. I hear most of them all together for long hours so top notes stay with middle notes and that's what I like about Soir de Lune. Especially honey, rose, patchouli, coriander, pepper oil and mimosa together create such a deep and meaningful character. btw. Good luck if you have friends who like only low-quality commercial fragrances like my friends do! :))

I'm crazy and blind bought this for the honey note and the stunning bottle. Luckily I loved it immediately! From the nozzle, it smells like a traditional old school chypre with an overlay of honey. I worried it was too old fashioned, but on the skin the oakmoss, rose, iris, and nutmeg come out. I still get the honey and sweetness which I guess is the fruit? I don't get lemon or any citrus notes, and thankfully no patchouli. This isn't heavy. It is very relaxing, soothing, classy, and expensive smelling. You could possibly wear it year round, except perhaps hot summers. I love wearing it to bed.

My mom wears it and its beautiful scent. Its majestic confidant soft and vibrant chypre, a bouquet that drowns in honey on a white woods. Its has a beautiful silage, recognizable from the first sniff and that fills the room with delicacy. There are some frozen notes that became warmer and warmer as it dry downs and the scent becomes linear rich accord with a hint of nuts. For my nose the male version of this scent could be lanqome Hypnose for men that shares very similar quality of blending the notes, and of course if it would be done by sisley it would have much better quality ingredients...

I got a free sample of this one as part of Sisley skincare products. I must say I'm impressed. Honeyed rose chypre that is wearable and not cloying or annoying. I would actually wear this one and I'm not looking like a "classy lady" at all. Now I see that the perfumer id Dominique Ropion and that makes sense. It's kind of well made classic rose chypre that remains unknown (Sisley is not such a popular brand). The coriander is distinctive and makes it zesty and spicy. The most prominent note is rose though, honey and rose, so nothing too "special" here. Longevity and quality is top notch.

I have been being in love with chyprés since... the 80es but IFRA almost killed them and now I can't stand 1OOO, Aromatics Elixir (and others) anymore. But Soir de Lune was almost a love affair at first sniff. Also one of the rare perfumes I buy over and over, at least two 100 ml FB a year even with my scented wardrobe of 20+ frags. This is not yummy, it's classy. This is not mainstream nor cheap, but distinctive. It's also the one I chose for my wedding day. Would (very personally) love Sisley to launch a yearly limited edition as they do for its sis' Eau du Soir.

Instant obsession. Yet another big love from M. Ropion. I love the description of this as slightly melancholic. It’s icy, magical. Personally I won’t save this for special occasions — it’s an easy reach now that temps around me have started to come down. The sharp, cold rose is reminiscent of L’Ombre dans L’Eau EDP (without the green leaves and with a cuddlier base) — an elegant auntie. YUM. Edit (10/10/25): Just opened an original bottle (with oakmoss etc etc) and the scent on skin brought tears to my eyes. More nuanced, less sharp at the top. Pure bliss ♥️

Someone said “Made me think of a harsh, straightforward, too serious for her age young sophisticated woman!”, and wow, that’s me! An acquired taste and is a little tricky because its magic is the scent trail / sillage ‘in the air’. I dare to describe it as witchy and classy. A process of coagulating of dripping honey fermented with old rose and chypre. Absolutely stunning and abstract yet wearable. Its magnetic aura is as radiant as the moonlight, in my opinion — serene & incandescent. It stays forever on the top shelf of my collection.

SOIR DE lune is a very high end, fine fragrance it is very expensive £150 for a large bottle and an individual fragrance it is timeless and elegant and very sophisticated a beautiful, accomplished woman successful with her life the perfect mother and successful business woman. As individual as it's wearer. Paloma Picasso mon perfume by Paloma Picasso was actually launched in 1984 earlier than Soir de Lune and Soir de Lune is an almost copy. I bought this perfume as a gift to my mother for her birthday and she loved it very much. A month hence when i visit my parent's house, I got an amazign smell from my mother and asked "where it comes from" then She said "this is my birthday gift from you". I fell in love with this perfume! From what she told me, she always gets compliment when she wears it. It is classy, stylish and mysterious... By the way, I really like Luca Turin's opinion about perfumes but I don't agree with his opinion on this perfume.

Mmmm, it chose me. Right up my alley and so much like a lot of things in my wardrobe already. Sampled thanks to a lovely Fragrantican swapper, will look out for this. Interesting bottle and having a look at the 'nose' - wow what a broad range of frags she is responsible for! One or two of them I like and one or two - not! Oh, and it's nice to sniff a relatively modern perfume that doesn't fall into the current blight of floral fruities/fake vanilla/overtly chemical & poorly constructed smells!

I am a true fan of Domiqiue Ropion since 80s, and Maxim's de Paris, Paco Rabanne's La Nuit signed by the same perfumer genie has always been my two heros (better said alteregos) until I met this masterpiece of Ropion in 1998, from the first sniff on I became obssessed by Lune de Soir, the 80s signature ingredient "Animalis Hypo" is so skillfully combined here with honey and oakmoss, I am an absolute fan of this perfumez and I can only recommend

Perfume and attitude from another time. So well crafted with high quality ingredients so typically Sisley! SDL is like a tailored outfit, may be not the most original in its category but done with such care, you love to wear it again and again. May be one of the most beautiful and preserved chypre from the mainstream range. Thank you Sisley/ Mister Ropion for that gorgeous fragrance. Pricey and worths it. For the chosen ones...

Soir de Lune: to my nose is honey and roses! It is moonlight in a bottle. After trying a sample, it didn't take me long to buy a full bottle. I usually prefer dark heavy perfumes, but this one is subtle and,.... it makes me feel like an aristocrat. In my opinion, it is not a young overly sweet frivolous scent. It is elegant and refined. The bottle is beautiful. Definitely at the top of my perfume list! LOVE!

I am so happy I don't get the 'honey' at all in Soir de Lune--I just don't do honey! That said, I am totally in love with this frag--I also have Eau du soir, which i absolutely adore. Both of these are longevity bombs on me--and according to compliments, sillage is quite far reaching! I could have saved myself many $$$ over these years if I had discovered these two scents from Sisley sooner...

Anything Dominique Ropion touches turns to gold and this floral chypre is no exception. This is a cold rose found in the snow. Her beauty is forever frozen in the ice. It's a spicy leather forward rose found next to an oak tree in the forest. There is slight warmth found in the woody drydown thanks to the drop of honey. This has a vintage feel of the long forgotten good ol' days. Love.

Elegance at its best! This is what Soir de Lune Sisley is all about. I love how the rose, honey, moss, and coriander in this go well together giving the vibes and feel of rainy weather that is airy, classy, and exceptionally amazing. Depth, mystery, and darkness in this bring the olfactory experiences and bring back the memories of some vintage beauty.

this perfume does remind me of my beloved coriandre in the drydown part , but soir de lune is much sweeter and sexier.The honey note is strong, I can smell it all the time, is never tamed by the green elements. The rose is sweet , probably it was infused in a big jar of honey . The quality is excellent , is never cloying or screeching on my skin.

The honey note is so overpowering I really can't smell anything else in it at first, it's like sticking your nose into a jar full of fresh, liquid, golden linden honey, absolutely gorgeous and mouth watering. After a while though I can smell the characteristic Sisley DNA, a classy and elegant older lady scent. Beautiful, timeless classic.

This is surprisingly a compliment magnet. It's elegant, mossy and dry - the name evening moon is very evocative. The honey adds sensuality and florals keep it more friendly and approachable. It's probably a scent that many people who wouldn't seek this one out for themselves, judging it too old fashioned, appreciate on others.

What a light, translucent honey rose! She smiles. There is absolutely no cloying in the perfume. This is a refined and intelligent perfume that is very easy to breathe, and you want to breathe it more and more. The mood is as if you are at a party in a huge botanical garden.
