Ved’Ma

There was this little voodoo candle shop in the French Quarter I remember stumbling into as a kid. There were dried bats hanging with masks on the walls, and chicken feet on a tray, but what struck me the most was their enormous display of potions. With names on the tiny bottles that said "make him mine," "love removal" and "go away" I stood there entranced, forgetting all time, smelling them and imagining what kind of magic they were capable of. There is a very distinct smell in the base of Baba Yaga that takes me back to that shop. I will try to describe it-- badly I'm sure, because it was so long ago, but hey. The experience is of a weird, decadent syrupy ripe fruit with a sharp metallic bite to it that makes the back of your jaw tingle. Imagine a thick strawberry/black cherry syrup that you mixed dark blood into, or perhaps if blood WAS strawberry syrup???! The Accord description lists "dragons blood incense"(resin from the tree Dracena Draco) so maybe that's it. There is also a fair amount of woods in here, not pine, not fir, not spruce or any of those. Something earthier. I'm willing to bet that there's some Palo Santo in here. I'm also getting an eyelash of rose, very subtle. Hopefully other reviewers will pick up on more and post. Fascinating fragrance. Bet you don't have anything like it. (Unless you're a witch and live in the French Quarter.)

I probably bought 20+ samples when I first got into perfume and this was the first repurchase I made. I’m broke so i can’t fs but I’ve bought 3 10ml so far. Great serious witchy perfume. Good balance of serious and wearable.

This is nice and if this company didn't have so much controversy, I would buy it in heartbeat. It is a slightly soft hippie shop Dragons blood incense but so soft it doesn't lean too Hippy with a light musky/herbally and slightly earthy smell. Overall very light though and I do unfortunately smell the carrier oil base in the air which does detract from the scent but this is common with a lot of indie houses, some have a specific DNA in that base that I enjoy though however with this one it does give scraped candle wax. It suits the theme the perfume but to anyone else who didn't know what you wearing, they would smell that as a quality issue.
