Caramel Alps

I did previously review this, but thought I would try to give a better, and more in depth description/review now that I’ve had it for several months. Sweet, powdery, caramel, vanilla, woody, lactonic, musky, nutty, creamy, softly aromatic, feminine, sensual, seductive, flirty, charming, whimsical, dreamy, delightful, soothing, inviting, cozy, comforting On me this opens sweet and powdery with fluffy marshmallow, delicate almond, and a whisper of aromatic lavender. As it dries down the creamy caramel comes through, swirled with vanilla, and a sprinkle of cacao. Once it’s dried down the milk, sandalwood, and musk join the caramel making it richer and creamier, while adding a nice woody depth. I’m reminded of B&BW Fireside Flurries, which shares notes of marshmallow, lavender, and sandalwood. FF has more lavender, comes across as a bit more smoky woody, and lacks a caramel note. However, it’s actually quite similar. I really wish both of these would make a permanent come back, as I enjoy both of them very much. Also, FF is a good option if you can’t find Caramel Alps anywhere. There’s also somewhat of a similarity to Commodity Milk. They share notes of marshmallow, milk, musk, and some woody notes, although it lacks some notes like caramel, lavender, and cacao. This is such a pretty scent! It’s a very easy reach, and is perfect for fall and winter. It’s also very soothing, comforting, and cozy, so it would also make a lovely bedtime scent (I personally prefer the B&BW Aromatherapy Sleep line because I only use those at bedtime, particularly Warm Milk & Honey and Honey Vanilla Dream). This would work well for casual occasions and work and/or school. It’s a softer scent that’s on the intimate to moderate side for projection. The longevity is moderate, it lasts about 5-7 hours on my skin. I have a few other fragrances from Skylar including: Boardwalk Delight, Vanilla Sky, Fall Cashmere, Nude Skin, and Sweet Morningside. Caramel Alps is probably my second favorite. For reference, some of my other favorite marshmallow fragrances are Kayali Yum Boujee Marshmallow, Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar, Yum Pistachio Gelato, PDM Oriana, Kilian LDBS, Princess, YSL Black Opium Glitter, Valentino DBIR Ivory, JPG Classique Pin Up, JHAG Powder Love, BBW Beach Nights, Boardwalk Marshmallow Clouds, Fireside Flurries

Sweet, creamy, warm, sensual, delicate, cozy, powdery, and even slightly freshly floral. This is such a pretty fragrance! I really pick up on the marshmallow, almond, caramel, vanilla, sandalwood, and musk. I do notice a touch of lavender in the opening which just adds a really nice freshness to the fragrance. Caramel Alps isn’t over the top Sweet or cloying, but just a lovely and delicate sweet scent. I get good performance with Caramel Alps. The longevity is decent, it lasts 5-6 hours on me. The projection is nice too, it radiates out about an arm’s length from me.

I really like Caramel Alps! It smells warm and creamy. I really pick out the vanilla, caramel, and orris, with a powder from the top of a marshmallow. I am wearing it today layered with Bianco Latte, and the combo is amazing. If you like scents like Vanilla Sky, you will enjoy this one.

This is a gorgeous scent. However, there is no projection or longevity. None.

Of all the notes listed, I was surprised to come away with mostly lavender, orris, and musk—maybe it's just my skin, but this winds up almost immediately just smelling vaguely generically floral, and I can pick up hardly any of the caramel or almond. I really wanted to love this as a gourmand, so I'm sad; it works okay as a base for other more expensive scents, since it has pretty good longevity for me, but almost zero throw. Layers pretty well with pistachio scents, for example. [ETA: after a few months it's quite a bit warmer! I carry it in my purse now to layer over things that have faded during the day, like my trusty celebrity gourmands shhhhh I'm basic okay]

A lightly nutty cacao scent. Creamy and not too sweet. I don’t get any mirabelle or lavender and the sandalwood is thankfully nice and smooth as opposed to musty. It’s nice but I do wish it was sweeter. Has moderate sillage and lasts about 3 hours. In terms of perfumes listed as similar— ❌ Ariana’s R.E.M.: very lavender heavy ❌ Commodity Milk: not chocolatey at all ❌ SDJ ‘71: sweeter and more cookie-like

It smells like a more mature and more almondy/musky/subtler version of bum bum cream. Almost exactly like the original bum bum cream... take that how you would like.

I love how one of the first negative reviews says that this Smells just like Philosophy Fresh Cream Warm Cashmere, and then go on to describe it as a bitter almond scent, which Fresh Cream Warm Cashmere is not. Which is it?

Did not like this one. Smells just like philosophy fresh cream warm cashmere. I was expecting more caramel and the white chocolate. It’s more of a bitter almond scent
