Isle

This is one of my top favorite fragrances. It’s not the most complex or fancy fragrance you can find but this just hits the spot for me. This has some of my favorite notes and it’s just delicious. It’s got that aquatic beachy aroma but there isn’t any of the typical sunscreen fragrance dna like coconut and yellow florals. Instead you get a lovely combo of cool floral bergamot, warm sweet cardamom, and a cozy creamy sandalwood. The main show of this fragrance is cardamom, so if you love a warm, sun kissed cardamom...this is it. This fragrance lasts about 4 hours and it projects a couple of feet for the first two before sinking down to a skin scent. (I have the older round bottle which is an edt, the new square bottles are edp so maybe it performs better now) I have to say. I don’t wear perfume for compliments and I don’t generally receive any, except from my wife. This perfume was an exception. I wore it to my son’s appointment because it wasn’t very loud and I only had sprayed two spritzes from a tiny sample size. When the doctor walked in the room he said “wow, something smells good like the beach!” So, there you have it folks, Isle smells good like the beach.

I have the roller ball version of this so I imagine spraying it would be different. I really like this one. It stands out to me as having a very relaxing scent, I love sniffing my wrist with this on it truly transports me to ‘island retreat vibes’. I agree it doesn’t project much or last as long as I’d like. ..But I actually really enjoy the scent of this.

A safe blind buy if you like a soapy scent that no else can smell because it's gone in 30 minutes. Sigh great but zero lasting power or sillage.

I love the salty, non-floral-ness of this perfume. It's simple but smells so good.

I'm a big fan of aquatic scents and woodsy scents though I don't know if I've encountered them together before. It took me a while to pick up on the notes here, it's not overtly aquatic - I get the subtle spice of cardamom first, then sandalwood and aquatic. And while I do find the fragrance pleasant I think it's too light. On it's own and in comparison to the rest in the skylar line-up (as, if you pair any two as they encourage, the other fragrance quickly overwhelms Isle). I think I'm more intrigued by it, the combination of the cardamom notes with the aquatic, than anything else. I do appreciate Skylar's "clean" formulas, as someone often sensitive to mainstream fragrances. It's due to this that I'm not as disappointed in the wear time as it's those ingredients that often cause headaches. However kept in mind with the price, you may go through it faster than expected due to reapplying slightly more often.

If you like Chapter One by Jennifer Aniston or clean baby powder scents, you might like this. Very light, airy, and breezy. I have to laugh a little at the advertising which shows the model spraying it oceanside in a big breeze. Don't do that! It costs too much to send it into the wind, lol. Not that the price is outrageous for natural ingredients, but you do need to respray to keep it going. This would work for a teenager or a man too. Better ingredients mean I can spray it on my pillow. And I do like the simple bottles. I wish they would make body oil to intensify and lengthen the fragrance. Wow, the perfumer is Sarah Horowitz. I love her Perfect Coconut but cannot afford it. The oil is amazing.

Similar to Leila Lou by Rosie Jane, the same perfumer has created a pleasant, light warm weather fragrance. But this time, Sarah Horowitz composed an aquatic where the top note is cardamon. Then I pick up salt and sandalwood. I’m sure there’s more to it, but my nose can’t explain it. The best part is that Isle smells so natural; the worse part is the performance. No projection from two sprays, and it disappears in less than 90 minutes. I don’t dislike it though, and to make something using mostly natural ingredients, longevity is often sacrificed. I can’t fault the perfumer, I just wish it wasn’t so expensive. A solid like from me.

I really like this one! It's how your skin would smell after a day sitting beside the ocean in a place like Cuba: warm (from the cardamom), salty (from the ocean), and just a touch of brightness, from the bergamot. I don't overtly smell the sandalwood, but the scent does have grounding to it. Overall, it's lovely. I am not usually a fan of aquatic scents, but this is one I will finish with delight! PS: I don't find it similar to "Reveal" (a scent I dislike) at all. It's salty, but not peppery, and has more in common with "Beach Walk" (although they aren't actually very similar either).

this has such a fresh salty profile to it that i find myself so attracted to for some reason. to me this smells a lot like snow angel by philosophy as well. wish this projected a bit more, as it's kinda hard to smell on the skin after you sniff it for a while. needed a nose pallet cleanser. the cardamom comes out a lot more during the dry down, but the oceanic notes are absolutely my favorite part of this. soft and almost soapy. really like this scent, if i didn't already have snow angel i'd consider picking up a full-sized bottle of this for sure!!

This review is for Isle Escape. If Omnia Crystalline and EL Sensuous had a baby this would be it. This scent is very sandalwood heavy on me. I don't get any sea notes. I do get the cardamom and I like how it punctuates the sandalwood. It's a very soft and calming scent but as I already have Crystalline it's not something that I feel I really need. OTOH Crystalline is a beast on me in terms of the actual scent and longevity and I'm not always up for that. This is like Crystalline Lite.with extra sandalwood.

A Beachy skin scent without florals, coconut or sweetness? Yes please! I thought this was great. Not groundbreaking, but comforting and fresh. It’s mostly a soft cardamom with a spray of salt water grounded by sandalwood. I like some other non-floral non-sweet beach scents like Calvin Klein Reveal and Jo Malone Sea Salt and Sage, but sometimes the excess salt leaves me feeling a little nauseous. The cardamom used instead here feels peaceful - like you should feel on vacation.

Like most of Skylar's fragrances, this is... fine. It's pleasant, inoffensive, and uninteresting. I get mostly bergamot and salt on initial spray, and then salt and wood in the dry down. I actually think the salt note is quite well done, but for a citrus+salt+wood combo from Skylar, I think Pink Canyon is leagues better than this.

This actually does smell like you are at the beach. I feel like it has a very very veryyyy mild saltiness to it. Im so glad theres no notes of ylang ylang because that would have made it smell like suncreen. This is a fresh unisex soapy scent.

VERY light scent, but fresh and clean. It's a more complex fragrance than most feather-light scents I have tried. It would be good for those who are sensitive to fragrances or just want something unobtrusive.

Nice. One of my favorites from the brand’s originals. Yet, like most of Skykar’s fragrances, it had short longevity and little sillage.

I dont usually care about aquatic scents. but this was so fresh, light and lively. I would but a fb if I had any longevity at all.

Love this fragrance! It smells like a typical ocean fragrance with a subtle hint of cardamom. The longevity is horrible though.

to me this smells like hedge apples. very green/citrus smelling and lasts about an 30 minutes to an hour

Isle Escape is a fresh saltwater scent with a little warmth from the cardamom.

The first hour, the opening I did not like this fragrance, there was a peppery note, and one accord that really bothered me. BUT . . . THEN the dry down it had this steady, warm, very woody, spicy, slightly sweet and vanilla scent that I like, all day I'd catch a whiff and it was very nice. So you to get through an opening first hour which was sharp and I did not like, but then it calmed down and was good with little spikes of that pepper in the opening. So not sure whether to recommend it or not. I like the dry down only; but really dislike the opening first hour.(Sample from 2nd hand shop) 5/10

First blast of cardamom and aquatics, harsh, screechy, synthetic. After a minute, the burning alcohol fades and leaves behind a fresh spicy tone that is much more wearable and then delves into soft sweet sandalwood. That opening was quite nosehair-burning though so luckily it doesn't stay long. The whole scent doesn't stay long, actually.. fades as fast as Jo Malone. Unisex but leans masculine and best for summer, if you can get it to stick to your skin. 6+ hours later: The scent held on until about the 3rd hour.

Isle Escape reminds me of how a spa smells. In fact, it smells like a body wash my mom had back when she used to sell Avon that was marketed as more of a spa-like scent. Lots of water and a bit of wood. Somewhat pleasant but also not really to my tastes. I'd say this is definitely a unisex scent that leans more masculine. I'll probably see if my boyfriend want my sample vial.

Not a terrible scent ansi don’t totally dislike it but it’s just not my favorite. It just faded to a dull spicy but sweetish smell. I found this at tj maxx and blind bought it. Not sure how I feel about it. Could be unisex for sure. I thought it would be more crisp and watery smelling. Idk. On my “had” list bc I won’t rebuy it.

Not a fan of this one, opening is definitely the harsh alcohol other reviewers mentioned and the drydown was a nice salty/warm scent on me for about 20 minutes before devolving into pure cardamom I can barely smell anymore. I might give it to my boyfriend as I love cardamom on him and see if it's better

Eh, not my favorite. Definitely a salty aquatic, a little spicy, i can pick up on the citrus and cardamom. Not a bad scent, but not something I want to smell like. Unfortunately, I’ve found none of the Skylar perfumes that I’ve tried to last or project much.

Salty sandalwood mainly. The cardamom is there, but very lightly and it comes across a teensy bit sweet. Smells like a room diffuser more than a wearable fragrance. It is nice though. Unfortunately the dry down is a bit too powdery for my taste.

This mix of citrus and sandalwood is a classier take on a salty beach scent. Unfortunately it disappears pretty quickly and turns into dusty baby powder in the dry down. If there's a higher end dupe for this, I would love to try it.

I would like this if it didnt have cardamom in it....it;s really throwing me off this scent. Definitely better than Skylar's Salt Air for me as an aquatic/marine scent.

Skylar is a "clean" hypoallergenic, cruelty-free fragrance line and as such, it will have one downside that I have noticed is a trend with such companies: these scents will morph a LOT with each individual's body chemistry. That said, I smell the intention of Isle, but on my skin, it goes sweet and vanilla-y. Since I wasn't having a classic @brightflashes vanilla reaction, I thought that perhaps it was tonka, but checking the notes, it doesn't appear that is it either. In the distance, behind that super sweet morph, I smell what would be a pretty generic aquatic-fresh scent which is like a knock off of a knock off. This is my first experience with Skylar, I have many other scents of theirs to try out and I'm willing to say that this particular scent has morphed beyond recognition on my skin. Aquatics generally don't give me headaches or sinus problems and this one has started to. Silage - moderate, longevity - unfortunately I'm not going to find out because I need to scrub this off. I was able to wear for 30 minutes and the scent seemed to strengthen on dry down so I'd imagine pretty decent longevity. Going back to the sweet smell, the only thing I can guess as what causes this morph on me and possibly on @natak2 is that one ingredient in their fragrance line is organic sugarcane alcohol. Perhaps the alcohol they're using isn't fully fermented and that sweet smell is from that (shot in the organic chemistry dark, though).

On my skin, this is a water scent with the tiniest discernable amount of cardamom. While it is a very nice scent, I wish it was stronger, echoing the thoughts of other reviewers. I happen to adore cardamom, and while I didn't expect this to be downright spicy, I was hoping for a clear cardamom note. If it was stronger (all notes, not just cardamom) it would vie for my favorite from Skylar.

All I smell is the sandalwood note. Unfortunately I don't like sandalwood. LOL - not safe blind buy if you are at all sensitive to it. I'm not getting the bergamot AT ALL, and that is a note that can sometimes chill out sandalwood. It's kinda generally woody. Not much else to say.

I may be in the minority based on reviews, but I don't feel like aquatic and animalic are a good combo - and that's what this is. To my nose it was herbal, savory spices (like what you'd use for a chicken rub) mixed with an aquatic, watery base. Very off-putting to me.

Citrusy cardamom and sandalwood. An oceanic vibe, but not ocean notes. A bright, cardamom and wood scent, but very weak. Nothing amazing, but not offensive. Very weak performance.

I couldn't smell much past a generic fresh/aquatic accord. It was uninteresting and did not last long. This scent is so bland, and could use some more interesting notes.

I really want to love this scent - Salt Air is my GOAT. But Isle Escape just quickly fades to a dull cardamom white noise on my skin. No staying power.

I got Isle in the Skylar sample palette, and it just wasn't for me. I did like some others from the set though so it wasn't a complete waste.

sorry this smells like room diffuser or aquatic wax melt. a fine scent but not a perfume for me. cardamom disappears too quickly.

I really am not sensitive to scents, but I wore this to work today to test it and it made me feel sick, I felt like i was wearing a musky mildewy mess. Not a fan of this one, which is disappointing as I really love the ethics of this brand.

The opening of this was to sharp for me. Very marine, aromatic. My sister loves it and wears it all the time. If you like aromatic, beach scents you will love this

I genuinely hate how much I like this. I smelled four other Skylar perfumes in a sample kit (pink canyon, salt air, capri summer, vanilla sky) and they were just fine. Isle is supposed to be fine. It’s not interesting, it’s not complicated, it doesn’t have amazing performance or sillage... but for some reason I love it. It has this simple, fresh, girly quality that I don’t think I have in my collection. It smells like watching a Tinkerbell movie during Summer break with my sisters when we were young. I’m going to try more perfumes with this scent profile to see if I can replicate this feeling. If I can’t, I think I’ll buy a full bottle.

(Note: The bottle I have is called "Isle Escape" but it seems it was just repackaged from the original picture.) This scent is the closest I've found to the long-discontinued Rice Flower & Shea from Bath and Body Works, which was my go-to scent around 2007-2009. This has a more woodsy opening rather than gourmand but the drydown is pretty much identical. Everything I loved about RF&S is present here. It has a warm, nutty aspect and would layer well under any vanilla scent

Kind of a white musk with salt on it. Haven't been a fan of Skylar in the past (don't get me started on subscription services...), But I'm surprised by how much I like this one. As others have said, it's beachy, but I find that it isn't sunscreeny. Instead, it's classic beach notes cut with that ineffable musk, a little powdery, a little like baby wipes, clean and pretty but unsweet. Sillage and longevity are a joke, but it does smell better than I thought it would.

Yay, finally a sandalwood fragrance that has bergamot in the notes so I don't feel like my nose has gone crazy. The salty sea notes have the strongest presence in Isle, but I do smell the cardamom and the soft sandalwood/bergamot combination. It's soft and pleasant, nothing out of this world, but a better Skylar than the last one I tried (Arrow). It's a colder beach fragrance, it doesn't scream super hot beach, but more of a rocky beach in a cooler climate.

This would be wonderful if not for the strange cucumber-like smell resulting from the aquatic notes and sandalwood coming together. The concept behind the notes seems similar to House of Bo's El Sireno, although Isle lacks the seaweed note and overall cohesiveness of El Sireno. Simple, fresh, likeable, but ultimately very fleeting - this lasted all of 20 minutes on me.

Poor man's/ woman's dupe of Bulgari Omnia Crystalline. Like Crystalline, this is a crisp, clean, aquatic, dryer sheet scent. I find both scents to be pretty unisex. Although I've only sampled a few from Skylar, it seems they have a talent for mimicking other, already existing perfumes.

Does anyone else here smell licorice? Maybe it's just me. I really wanted to like it but I just cant get over the smell of licorice.

This is nice. Dry sandal wood with cardamom and bergamot. Linear but good for a fresh scent
