Nude Skin

Just going to add my Sephora review with some tweaks. Skylar Nude Skin smells like warm and moisturized skin under the sun. The tropical vibe was honestly surprising when I first smelled it, because I thought this was going to be a molecular skin musk. I'm reminded of Replica Beach Walk, that always gave me skin vibes, but Nude Skin has less saltiness and more sweet coconut milk with a splash of pineapple and papaya. It's not predominantly fruity in my opinion, but you can pick them out easily. To me this is warm from the coconut milk, even though the notes state coconut blossom, vanilla, and amber. Very much a smooth perfume version of my fave VS Coconut Passion. Not so beachy to be suitable for other parts of the year, but beachy enough when wanting something warm in the summer. Texture wise it feels more like a milk moisturizer. Nude Skin sits closer to the skin later, but is moderately detectable for the most part. Good for those looking for a non-cloying sweeter summer fragrance, not just the fresh musky kind. Also doesn't hurt that it's a clean brand and will go perfectly with my Aerin Amber Musk body cream. I will say with some clean brands, you really have to use them quick or else they will go off.

For reference: I’m a woman in her late 40’s, and I got this as a rollerball. Goes on very sweet, almost smells like raw honey from wildflowers. Then, it becomes a luscious tropical blend, with no one note really standing out. The amber and cedar keep this from being overly fruity, and create a warm, earthy/musky undertone. I have the rollerball, so it stays intimate from initial application. Doesn’t last long on skin. Starts fading within an hour or two. Lasts on clothing for 4-6 hours. This is a scent that reminds me of days at the beach during the peak of summer. A good casual, warm weather wear.

This smells exactly like Nest's Balinese Coconut body oil. Spot on. I will recognize this scent anywhere as I've been loving it for the last few years and was waiting for Nest to come out with a perfume version. The longevity of Nude Skin is around 3-4 hours, but if you layer it with Nest it will last you a lot longer.

What a sexy, versatile scent. I was anticipating another glossier you or phlur missing person type scent from the packaging and name but this ain’t that, at all! Coconut, vanilla, amber. Delicious and I KNOW this warms up so nice on the skin! I’ll definitely have to grab a rollerball of this. Really nice!

I am literally addicted to this Nude Skin...carrying it with me everywhere. Gets constant compliments. It’s also a lot stronger than you would think by the name.

I LOVVVVE this. It reminds me of Tom Ford Soleil, Blanc, but with extra excitement added.

Pretty, Sweet, warm, tropical, radiant, fruity, sensual, feminine, slightly floral, powdery, woody, inviting, comforting, cozy On me this opens sweet, tropical, and warm with the golden warmth of amber intertwined throughout with fruity and floral notes of papaya, pineapple, and coconut blossom, orchid, and frangipani. The papaya and pineapple are bright, but not sharp, just a more mellow tropical fruity scent. Once it’s dried down the more warm and sensual base notes of creamy vanilla, warm golden amber, and softly sweet and woody cedar become the stars. That’s when this scent is the most beautiful imo. Overall, the amber, vanilla, papaya, and pineapple are the most prominent notes on me. I do feel like the initial description of this fragrance is somewhat misleading stating “a radiant blend of tiger orchid, warm vanilla, and golden amber”. I had purchased this while it was still only a limited edition travel size, so there was no full list of notes available. I was very surprised by it and honestly rather disappointed at first. I was expecting something warm, sweet, sensual, creamy, cozy, and seductive (something more like the base notes, but without the tropical vibe). So, when I first smelled the fruity and tropical notes I actually double checked the packaging to make sure it was the correct fragrance. However, after letting go of my original expectations for the scent, and just wearing it fully and experiencing it for what it is I discovered that I actually liked it. Would I have preferred and likely enjoyed more the kind of scent that I was originally expecting? Yes, I do think so. Overall though, this turned out to be a nice scent that I do think is a pretty fragrance... not a love for me, but definitely something that I do like. Even though this is tropical it’s still got enough warmth and sensuality from the base notes that I think it can actually work pretty well throughout all of the seasons (maybe not the best choice for winter, but still not bad). I think it’s particularly lovely during summer evenings. I think it’s great for women of any age because it has a really lovely sophistication to it... nothing too juvenile, or too mature. To me it feels best suited to your more casual occasions including work/school, especially because it’s pretty non-offensive and not overpowering. Something that’s just nice and pleasant. I get nice performance with Nude Skin. The longevity is good, it lasts about 6-7 hours on me before feeling like it needs a touch up. The projection is decent, it radiates out about an arm’s length from me. For a bit of reference, I do own a few other Skylar fragrances including (from favorites to least) Boardwalk Delight, Vanilla Sky, Caramel Alps, Fall Cashmere, Sweet Morningside, and Lime Sands. For me Nude Skin falls around my mid favorites of these. Just an additional note - I have never usually really liked papaya or pineapple in the majority of fragrances (although there are some). Had I realized that both of those notes were in this one I never would have ordered it. Turns out that it’s ended up being a pleasant surprise for me though. I don’t reach for this a ton, but I am glad to have it and enjoy wearing it occasionally.

Agree with a below comment that the name is misleading. This is coconut pineapple. Beautiful fragrance though! I am wear testing it today. I was expecting more of a skin scent based on the name but this is a pina colada and smells like something I used to wear in high school in the 2010's, maybe from Rue21. It's lovely and very beachy, just not what I'd call a "nude skin" smell. Update: 10 hours and still a scent bubble! I have it on top of unscented lotion, to note though. Actually impressed on the longevity of it compared to my other Skylar scents!

This won’t be a fragrances that will absolutely wow you, but is a very pleasant and safe everyday reach. The only note that makes sense to me is Amber, as it has a soft, warm, and (albeit) mild sweetness. To me, it smells kind of like peach skin. If you work in an environment where you can’t wear strong fragrances but don’t want something that smells very fresh or aquatic/ozonic, I think you’ll like this one!

I really like this one! I wanted a perfume with coconut note that wasn’t too heavy on the coconut. I think this perfume does a good job with that. I don’t think it lasts super long nor does it have great sillage, but I don’t mind too much because I personally really like the smell. It reminds me of a tropical resort in Thailand.

100% suntan lotion. Coconut, pineapple, & orchid/frangipani. Straightforward and nostalgic.

tl;dr Nude Skin by Skylar is meh. Recently I discovered Victoria Beckham's line of makeup and it slaps. Especially the kohl eye liners, as the colors are dense and it smooths /blurs so beautifully. Here's the tea; the line is actually designed by Sarah Creal who made the best ever kohl waterproof eyeliner, and now she's the brains behind VBB making dupes of her own best products. Seriously check it out. The formulas are excellent especially for 'mature skin' ie it doesn't cake up in your face cracks. I bought the liner, foundation, and eye spackle (it's like a dense slightly tacky shadow, very nice) and as that cost an arm and a leg, Nordstroms sent me a huge back of freebies and it included several perfumes. One of which was this nonsense. Nude Skin immediately opens smelling like expensive tanning oil. It's very tropical fruit/flower/coconut. WHYYY do these companies insist on using coconut??? It's so overpowering. Then an hour later it's dried down to sugar cookies with a dash of tropical lotion. Very vanilla, very sweet, and kind of a caramel amber molecule that is too much for me. Is it nice? Yes. If you love that coconut cookie fake caramel smell, then this is for you, no coconut slut shaming here. Don't wear a lot as it's powerful and emits quite the sillage. Obviously, if you're hoping to smell ... less Hawaii gigolo... then don't bother. Tons of other, less pretentious, less expensive 'skin' musks exist. My favorite go-to will always be Kiehls Musk.

I don't really smell any top notes or even the heart notes. It basically just smells like vanilla with some other notes mixed in, but not easily identified. I don't really even get a sense of the amber, and I like amber. It's not bad smelling, I'm going to wear it for the day, but I will not be keeping even my sample size, and definitely not getting a full sized bottle. I also think it's very overpriced for the very basic smell. A 50ml bottle is $96, they don't even make a 3oz size. So for a medium sized bottle you're spending over $100 with tax and shipping. Definitely not worth it when you can get a really fantastic perfume for that price.

This is nice for those who want a musky skin scent, but with more warmth and sweetness than others popular on the market. This has a predominant coconut note, not too sugary or floral. The solar note is a little rough which is why I don't love this.

Yummy tropical fruits opening, coconut reigning supreme. Drydown adds tropical florals but tames it all down to an artificial skin scent w/ an off-putting undernote. Gone w/in the hour.

Smells good in a semi-generic way but becomes cloying after a while. Nice to have as a sample, but I don't think it's anything special enough to purchase even the travel size.

this smells like wet, salty cucumber and salad leaves on me

on my skin, this smells like a coconut suntan lotion. I wasn't expecting that with the name of the fragrance. I'm not a big fan of suntan lotion scent profiles in perfume, so this one doesn't do anything for me. Coconut is very prominent on my skin, almost the only thing I smell.

I only smell coconut. A very simple, unappealing coconut with zero complexity. I was massively disappointed... nothing from Skylar I've tried has been remotely good. I can't understand why people keep recommending them.

I liked this better than I thought I would based on the notes. Vanilla + Amber just always evokes Victoria's Secret body splash for me. As other have said, the name is misleading. This really isn't a skin scent to me; it's a warm tropical. As someone who lives in the tropics, I rarely find "tropical" perfumes to actually smell like the tropics, but this one actually nails the scent of coconut without smelling like a tourist trap.

I should have written this up before I gave it away, but, alas, I did not, and now I can't quite recall what this smelled like. Perhaps it speaks to it being forgettable. All I can recall was thinking it smelled a tad too "mature" for me (admittedly, I typically go for very "youthful" scents), and kind of generic.

This sits very soft and close to the skin. It's really nice. Will not give you a headache. Just blind buy it. Fuck it, yolo. It's good. And I'm picky. Something about this reminds me a bit of baccarat rouge in that it's very very airy.
