True Love's Cake

Oh this is DELICIOUS! A true gourmand-lover's dream. Birthday cake is one of my all-time favorite flavors and scents, and I have been on the hunt for a while to find the perfect one, and I think I found it! This one starts off very buttery and then develops into this mouthwatering spiced pistachio and almond cake scent. The butteriness reminds me a little of Wrapped in Vanilla from Bath and Body Works. My nose does not pick up much rose, so if you are not a fan of rose you may still like this. My only complaint is that I wish it lasted a bit longer! I have been layering this with my SDJ 62 body butter and my Milk Bar Birthday Cake body mist, and it is an amazing combo!🎂

I’m typically not fond of sickly sweet gourmands, and upon first spraying this, I had the same reaction with any other gourmand “BORING!!!” Mind you I sprayed it on a tester strip (horrible idea) Oh how deeply wrong was I, and how quickly I changed my mind when I tried it on skin!! Maybe I haven’t tried too many gourmands, but the dry down on this is intoxicating. It’s almost like a molecular musky marshmallow fluffy cake batter vanilla. It reminds me of that same molecular dry down, of the only other gourmand that I can stand, which is Kayali Yum Boujee marshmallow! I feel like you could layer these two perfectly!!

I wasn't expecting anything thick and heavy, even as a gourmand, from Skylar. This fragrance is light and clean and ever so slightly showery, keep it from leaning TOO sickly sweet. I have read many reviews that say that this dries down to something boring and linear, like a body spray. I don't agree with that, and actually think that the pistachio comes out as it dries down, and leaves me with something that reminds me of La Monde Gourmande's Pistachio Brulee. It is sweet, nutty, and a bit floral from the rose. A very easy wear for work or school, and it seems like it would be good for all seasons!

First sniff was like opening a can of buttercream frosting, or catching a whiff of cake batter that had just been mixed. Then I began to pick up on the rose, honey, and almond/pistachio notes. It's a very strong and sweet cake scent, but also comes across a bit jammy as well due to the rose. After a while, it begins to get less sweet and the cardamom and other florals starts to come through more. Honestly, I would swap the ordering of the notes on the pyramid. Despite this, I personally love it! Feels very posh tea party coded lol.

I really really REALLY love this one. At first I got the sweet cake scent, then the drydown to the rose water skin scent goodness. I don’t find this scent linear at all, I actually find it to be a pretty complex gourmand. It’s definitely a new favorite, if not my new signature scent!!

I need to start by admitting I love gourmands! If you don't like gourmands why even try this?? It has cake in the name. For me it was love at first sniff! This is buttery cake and for me the dry down is vanilla, caramel goodness. It's simple. It's not overly pricy. It's very worth it!

This perfume stands out in a good way. In a sea of perfumes that are all so similar, this oerfume is unique and beautiful and DELICIOUS! Leah Kateb: you are amazing! Love this fragrance so much and enjoy every moment and spray of this. Looking forward to more perfumes from SKYLAR.

this is genuinely my favorite fragrance out of my entire collection. i already have an extra bottle for backup. this is the PERFECCCCCT gourmand for me, and the cake note is insanely good. leah kateb i owe u my life girl

Ok this smells like the pink frosted cookie from Crumbl and I love it. Wasn't expecting to like this so much since im a rose hater but I really barely get rose. Its delicious.

For some reason on me it dries down smelling like the herbal essence blue hair conditioner. I really like this a lot.

I have a travel size but really want the full size, its so yummy!

Why I like this - yes, it's a typical overdone stinky gourmand fluffy cakey sugary bullshit everyone is doing it right now scent. Sure, I like it because of that. Why, I really like this. THE ROSE & ROSE WATER! How in the world they thought to put this with a cake, cardamom, patchouli, vanilla, caramel, etc., etc. is genius!!! It gives this such a nice mid & dry down. It takes it away from that syrupy, yucky, redundant vibe and gives it personality. Full bottle worthy. I started with travel spray and will see if I really go for a full bottle, but I could see it. I really like Skylar, and I find at times they miss - sometimes they smell cheap and synthetic (see pomegranate princess), but sometimes they're stunning (see capri summer, vanilla sky, salt air, boardwalk delight, and ESPECIALLY double dates). This could be one of their best if the rose water stays throughout the body of this. I could see this worn day and night, AND any season, honestly. It's summer here, and I'm enjoying this - but I could see this being great in fall/winter. Think Ariana's Lovenotes - Angel's Kiss - but a bit more SWEET. 8/10!

Someone on here said this is a typical stinky gourmand, and that is so true, it’s definitely a common dna! Lately all the gourmands I’ve been smelling have this funk, this stink associated with it and I don’t know where it’s from. But I do want to say, the opening of this smells so nutty, so deliciously smooth and mouth watering sweet, it’s definitely giving sweet dessert cake that is warm and fresh out the oven and you can’t eat it yet. I usually hate gourmands especially heavy ones but I had to test this one because it just smelled so good at the opening! After the dry down there is definitely some sort of funky smell and I don’t know if it’s the sandalwood? I’m not digging it, but not hating it. It would be a perfect gourmand for me if it wasn’t for that note. And also, it lasts FOREVER.

This is SUPER pretty. First thought was "I've smelled something similar before" and it was "A Party or Something" by Sorce. I think it's the almond/almond cake note. I usually smell pistachio in perfume like febreeze, but this is beautifully done and adds a creamy nuttiness to it that helps it give a true vanilla sponge cake scent to it. The rosewater comes through a little later and helps balance it on the dry down, simply in LOVE with this, will be graduating it to a full size soon!

This is pure almond cake with a slight honey drizzle, the florals listed are non-existent to my nose. I was hoping for a rose/cherry blossom teacake type of vibe and I enjoy gourmands,but I have quite a few similar fragrances and mists. Very reminiscent of BBW Milk Bar mist, with an Easy Bake likeness in the drydown (powdery/sweet almond). I don't see me needing a full size bottle in my collection, but it's an enjoyable gourmand none the less.

Really beautiful rose almond honey pistachio like a more sugary gourmand Turkish delight with some powdery heliotrope in the background! Would be a love but has that sour lactonic issue Skylar sometimes has that makes it a little cloying

It starts off so cakey and delicious like you could take a bite of yourself and then soon after dry down that is completely gone and turns into a mainly frutal with some floral in it. It’s starts off very gourmand and turns very fruity. So much so that after 5 minutes of me testing it out on the back of my hand I thought I had sprayed the wrong perfume. I absolutely love the initial spray but the dry down is very generic and a lot of that plum comes in. Both “versions” are nice but I would definitely purchase if that initial spray lasted throughout the entire wear. But if you’re looking for a good fruity honey berry scent this is lovely!

Agree with all the comments saying you MUST try this on skin. On paper all I got was cake batter. Inoffensive and nicely gourmand, but generic and one-note. It had the same opening on my skin but after an hour or so the rose and cardamom completely replaced the cake note. Still sweet, but definitely more floral. Unfortunately I wish this was a little more balanced-- the top notes are too sweet and boring, and the bottom notes need more of that gourmand sweetness. I love rose but the rose dry down is kind of stale.

I really wanted to like this, but the opening note is just way too strong for me. It's a STRONG gourmand upon the initial spray. Reminds me of a gourmand candle (derogatory). Once the top notes dissipate, I understand what Leah meant by it's almost like a second skin fragrance. The dry down is gorgeous! Might have to spray this an hour before I step out of the house so by the time I leave, it's not so sickeningly sweet anymore lol.

The dry down on this is exactly She Was Here from FORVR MOOD. Rose and pistachio. The main difference is that the opening is a true almond cake. Like super sweet, almost pound cake-like. I would say if you have one you don't need the other. The openings on both perfumes are different, but after an hour they smell identical. I think this perfume is definitely fun, but I don't really want to smell like a photorealistic cake.
