Jeke 2022

After spending more than a year with Jeke 2022: The opening is great, strong, unlit tobacco mixed with a little bit of smokiness here and there. This lasts up to 4-5 hours on my skin. Changes into a quite strong curry/fenugreek smell and this tends to be dominating note. What I also detect is both unsmoked tobacco and tobacco smoke, some tanins (like the fragrance was aged in an oak barrel). This lasts up to 3-5 hours. Eventually and finally we are close to the drydown, which is leaning towards being sweet, but not overly sweet. Longevity is huge, on my skin up to 15-16 hours and sometimes even more than that. It's a very potent scent so 1-2 sprays on my neck is more than enough for me. Of course Jeke 2022 is significantly different from previous Jeke versions (you can tell that even without sniffing and looking at the colour of the juice only), but I like it more than previous one(s).

New (2022) version: I totally change my opinion on Jeke. Not only this version is significantly more smoky on my skin, I get a lot more tobacco - mostly tobacco smoke, but also some raw, strong, unsmoked tobacco. Generally from what I've heard previous version had very smoky component in it - which is cade. Funny enough, new version wins this battle, for me of course. I agree it tends to be leaning herbaceous, immortelle like, but I freakin' love it! Reminds me just a little bit, a tiny little bit of Pineward Steading.

The intensely lovely smell of lit beeswax candles, whiskey, and just the whiff of a pipe. Comforting and beautifully composed - not too spicy, sweet, smokey or citrusy.

Caramelized pancake syrup and Fireball Whiskey with a touch of tobacco and smoke. More refined and wearable than the OG. Darker juice.

I think it's fair to say that, in many ways, Jeke 2022 functions as its own scent, removed and separate from regular Jeke. Though J22 references OG Jeke in many MANY ways, the trajectories and routes the former takes to get to the end point are quite different. Persistent throughout, is the dry, dusty smokiness upon which OG Jeke is built. In the newer version, there isn't as much of the damp, moist tobacco elements that the OG Jeke is known and loved for, and in its place we have this balsamic, caramelic, turpenic YUMNESS that is just off the charts. It reminds me of this vinegar I once experienced (also had) on the Greek island of Rhodes -- it's was vinegary, but with an added dose of sugar-caramel, so to speak. That's what I get in J22 -- no tobacco, just that turpenic caramel. Whilst they walk parallel lines, and could be considered different versions of the same scent (I didn't use the horrid F word here), I feel they are different enough to warrant owning and loving both of them as separate beings, each with their own differences, nuances and attributes. Love.
