Lanz

Slumberhouse does a Floral Oud in a way only Slumberhouse can. Was quite fortunate to be one of the 33 recipients of this initial batch (I hope). In this case Josh Lobb amazingly blends the Oud with sandalwood, ambergris, boronia, orris, silk vine, ambrette, and blue lotus to create a bright resinous beauty that glows on your skin. The overall feeling is that of a fairy tale like Alice in Wonderland that is cheerful overall but has some strange elements. This dark fairy tale evocation is true of every offering from this house and this one is no exception. What makes this one uniquely haunting is the overall brightness of the concoction with the darkish elements gleefully peeking in the background. Josh Lobb is a genius maverick and this one is yet another wonderful addition to his dossier. Utterly haunting, unique, and unisex with tremendous sillage, projection, and longevity, this one will appeal to the most adventurous perfume lovers as well as those into exotic Orientals. Fantastic!

All three major components work perfectly with each other. Perfectly. The sandalwood presents sans buttery goodness, the lotus presents sans white-floral sweetness and the orris presents sans cumin note, and all together, they just vibe amazingly well. There are traces of ambergris there, too, but not in that Areej la Dore kinda volume, but it is lurking there, ever so quietly, but it doesn't disturb the sandalwood-orris-lotus feel. It still kinda comes across as a little too femme for mine, I mean, I could wear it happily, but I would say a female could pull this off better. This scent is comforting. It relaxes me, calms me. Making 33 bottles of this makes it ALMOST non-existent, but still, I'd love to hunt one down, if the opportunity presented itself. It's a beauty...

the start is quite floral sweet and extremely femme (for me, anyway), and then, a few hours in, after the drydown begins, i am just utterly mesmerised by the skinscent that remains. I don't know what it is, nor do i have any reference point from which to compare against, but OMG it is such an amazing accord. wow. don't know if i'd chase any down or anything like that, but OMG is it nice. Doesn't project anywhere near as much as some of the other perfumes in this line, but it is a nice one to try out, if indeed you are one of the lucky 33 who own this in any way/shape/form. wowsers.

going to enjoy this, very smooth delightful non-Oudy masculin floral; turns into a boronia heart intertwined with amazing water lily. Seems like alot of water lily was implemented, the ambergirs doesn't come off salty, just delightfully minerally. If you can imagine stainless steel, and if it has a smell, this comes to mind. Lanz is a very cold and innocent, masculin floral that is clearly an exception to the Lobb Lab.
