Ahh...Mond. My initial assessment of Mond was "colored" by the sleight of hand played by Slumberhouse owner and perfumer Josh Lobb with his joke about releasing "Red" Grev. I was completely pulled in by his online joke about Red Grev and was non plussed when he revealed the "joke" and released Mond instead. To be honest, I was put off by the joke, but of course jumped on my purchase of Mond because it had been spoken of by Josh for a long time, and I absolutely love his perfumes with a passionate love. Josh had previously described Mond as a "pumpkin vetiver" fragrance but the actual Mond that was released doesn't and didn't say another word about vetiver which caused additional head scratching among the Slumberhouse faithful. With all that said, I'd like to share my thoughts and feelings about the actual fragrance released by Slumberhouse called, Mond. I love autumn and I adore autumn fragrances. I've purchased many fragrances that have autumnal themes with varying degrees of enjoyment. I can honestly say Mond is my very favorite of all the autumn fragrances I own or have ever tried and decided not to own. From the standpoint of it's overall accord, it is VERY DENSE. There are after all according to Josh, 73 different ingredients in this fragrance. To my nose Mond smells like a perfect autumn day in a perfect autumn village in a perfect novel that takes place in autumn. It's idyllic and better than the reality of daily life, so it lifts me to a higher plain of enjoyment. This happens with a handful of fragrances for me and one of them at the top of that list is Mond. I've seen that some feel Mond smells like potpourri, or a fall candle but I couldn't disagree more. This is of course a personal opinion and highly individualized for each person's life experiences. My experience with potpourri is positive and there are some notes in Mond that could also be used in potpourri. However, there are many, many additional notes in Mond, and the way they are blended takes this fragrance in a much different direction than either potpourri or a fall candle, IMO. I smell the pumpkin, the cherry, the grape, the cinnamon, the whipped cream, the hay, the raspberry, the tobacco, the wine. I also recognize other notes, especially in the opening that I can't specifically identify, that give the overall accord of Mond a cornucopia of positive endophine's in my brain and takes me to a place that I absolutely love to be. I don't see how I could enjoy this fragrance more than I do. It is a complete joy to wear. Many thanks to Josh Lobb for the years he spent in developing this formula and fragrance. It is a masterpiece in my opinion. Highest recommendation from me for the brilliance that is Mond.

My bottle of Mond was just delivered this morning, and I’ve been wearing and comparing it all day. I’m very pleased, and this may become a favorite among my tobacco-centric perfumes. It really is a beautiful and addictive scent for tobacco lovers. I find it a bit closer to the skin than many other of the classic Slumberhouse scents, but that makes it more versatile and wearable for most occasions. It is not a skin scent, by any means. My favorite part of the wear is the freshly baled hay in the dry opening, mixed with drying golden tobacco leaves. It smells of fall to me, and the farm, and apple picking in the low, warm afternoon sun. Primarily, I smell the crisp hay and tobacco, and the other notes are more subtle within that structure, peeking forward after a little while of wear. This accord softens a bit after some time and allows a light bit of stewed fruits of apples and cherries and plums to come forward, with just a touch of golden honey weaving through, to accompany the dry notes. There is a little Slumberhouse booziness, and a bit of wood, too, but again, nothing is too pronounced, and all the notes are perfectly balanced. Nothing overtakes the hay and tobacco, and it is not really a sweet perfume. The closest comparison I can make is to James Heeley Cuir Pleine Fleur, perhaps mixed with a bit of Phoenicia or Zoologist Camel in the drydown. It is nothing like Tobacco Vanille in the slightest, I don’t know how that got voted in, but it is wrong. It also does not resemble Kiste, which is a very syrupy, peachy compote, nor Sova, which is much stronger with beeswax, and quite a bit sweeter. Mond does however, fit right in with the Slumberhouse catalog, and it shares the Slumberhouse DNA with these perfumes.

I really love this one. It is lovely, and rich and like my other Slumberhouse scent it lasts forever on the skin. A perfect fall compliment to Kiste (which I wear all summer long, it shines in the summer). Perfume itself gets a 9/10 (is anything perfect after all?) But wow. The old heavy lovely, and unique bottles are gone and the replacement is incredibly generic, and feels cheap in the hand. If I hadn't bought it from Luckyscent I'd have suspected I'd been sent a counterfeit. . And... no box. The new bottles come in a cheap (feels like dollar store) "velvet" bag. Since I store my perfumes in their boxes that makes this one a pain in the butt to store. For the price, and the beauty of the juice itself, it really is disappointing.

I used to have a couple of beehives in an old apple orchard meadow in the middle of a NW forest on an island in the Puget Sound. This is sitting on the grass under an apple tree in front of my hives with a glass of red wine after a sunny afternoon of checking on the girls, with the waxy medicinal smell of propolis on my hands, honey sticky in my hair, and a warm August breeze off the ocean picking up the scent of the sapping Douglas firs. The hive is settling down after their disturbance, and I’m listening to the low hum as I watch the gatekeeper bees fan their wings and waggle their sisters back home heavy with pollen and nectar.

I do NOT find this sweet. Now it isn't bitter at all, but there's a world between the two. On me this is pipe tobacco, and some stewed apples. It has much of the same DNA as Kiste, I think they share the same tabacco note. But where that is syrupy and melting this is much more in the background. More structured almost. It feels right for fall, and very put together. I'm afraid I may have to buy a bottle.

oh no, it's exactly as delish as I thought it might be. I just got my sample in the mail from Luckyscent, so no word yet on longevity or sillage, but right now I don't care. I'm not usually one for syrupy frags, but this is so boozy with the dried fruits, honey, and spices, I keep huffing my wrists. exactly what you want for fall and winter

Wore this to work and a co-worker said “it smells like the devil’s lettuce in here.” When I left the office and came back in, I can’t fully say she’s wrong. It has a sweet dry tobacco/grass type vibe and apparently can be mistaken for other things.

sticky, slightly pissy honey stewed into a fruit compôte. spices, chicory and a little bit of patchouli that i surprisingly dont hate. one of my favorite offerings from slumberhouse that i have managed to try.

Smells sweet, like hay. Smells like being 10 again and being out in a field with my old man and smelling the freshly-baled hay. Ahhh, this brings me back. Yeah, I do believe I need this one in my life.

Getting an identical experience to @junior_surgeon below me. Overall really really nice but seems to be quite faint after 20 minutes (1 spray on back of hand).

This is first full wearing of the latest release from Slumberhouse, Mond, described as the crisp spice of autumn air, with notes involving a lot of fruits, vanilla, amber, woods, tobacco, and booze. The intersection of cherry and apple seems prominent, not too tart, with a sort of creamy, boozy, resinous arrangement of spices, honey, balsam, and vanilla. It strikes me as a sort of upgraded variation of Baque, with a better assortment of stewed fruits and overall better balance among the fruits, resins, spices, and hints of tobacco. I do not perceive a specific evolution on my skin, but rather varying wafts of the different elements with each sniff. With some sniffs it comes off a bit more syrupy, with others, a bit spicier. In total, it lands quite sweet while not being saccharine, and having plenty of nuance and depth. To get some of other basics out of the way, Mond is dense and strong and performs very well, stronger than the other most-recent Slumberrhouse release, Fjerne, even if not as superlative as some of the darker, well-known perfumes of the house like Norne, Jeke, Ore, and Sova. I imagine that Mond not being dark as some of the aforementioned releases makes it a bit more wearable for many, like Fjerne, or previously, like Kiste. I tend to gravitate toward the very darkest and strongest fragrances in the line, myself, but it’s certainly nice to have options like Mond or Fjerne that provide the quality and concept without quite as much as intensity. That said, Mond is still pretty darn strong. Mond was previously released in the 30ml bottle size (of the past couple of years) for $180 but is now available in a new 50ml size for $260, seeming available in a presale at both Luckyscent and Fumerie. Overall, I’m pleased with it, even if it’s not among my very favorites of the line, and I’d recommend fans of the house especially to seek out a sample. 7 out of 10

Mond sold out fast, at both LuckyScent and Fumerie. Luckily, I was able to pick up a bottle before they did. I've had this on a few hours now and while it's an interesting fragrance, It's definitely Jeke in the opening and that stays around quite a while and on the dry down, I'm getting a lot of smoke and what seems like a bit of incense. From the reviews, a number of people have talked about honey, apples (not green apple, thankfully) and wine. Unfortunately, I don't pick up any of that. Unless it shows up very late - as in several more hours out - I'll have to stick with my initial judgement, which is a smoky Jeke. ** Update ** So, it's the next morning and the fragrance is still very much evident on my arm. It lightened up a bit but not to the degree of a sweet fruit. I'm still getting a very smoky fragrance, although the earlier incense accord that I'd interpreted is no longer there. I like it well enough and it's a great fall & winter fragrance but I'm still torn in regard to what I want to do with it. I ordered a sample of it when I ordered the bottle, so the bottle remains unsprayed. It's a nice addition to my Slumberhouse collection, so I'm going to keep it for now. *** Update #2 *** This has grown on me quite a bit in the last couple of wearings. While it still not as sweet as I expected, the Jeke opening seems to have subsided more - as in a much lesser period of time - and the lighter seasonal fall feeling and scent sets in. While I still don't pick up wine, I do pick up a pumpkin scent I'm not getting a distinct apple scent as an individual note, so it must be part of the pumpkin blend. This is actually a perfect scent for this time of year. As an additional plus, I've read that Mond is going to be released in the 50 ml size and I thought I'd read 100ml size too, somewhere.

Mond is my first Slumberhouse fragrance, and it's quite the experience! First of all, this scent is *not* cool. As a cult PNW indie house I guess I was expecting something... edgy somehow? Imagine you’re at your favorite PDX dive on a crisp October afternoon, you roll in, flash your ID to the heavily tattooed door guy, “Bro, why do you smell like a Thomas Kincaid painting?” he asks. It's not in midwestern lady buying a candle territory, but this scent will absolutely not get you laid. However, it is very complex and comforting! The apple/fruit is sweet but not overpowering, the hay/honey/boozy scents are forward but not obnoxious, there’s a bit of tobacco in there (I wish there was more). It all kind of melds together and tickles your unconscious. It's so subtle that it's hard to pick out individual smells, which I think is great. I wouldn’t wear this everyday and wish it came in a smaller bottle, but it is a very nice smell. Back in Portland: “Why do I smell like a Thomas Kincaid painting?” The late afternoon autumn rays slant lazily through the yellow-gold leaves. “Because he’s the painter of light, motherfucker.”

Mond from Slumberhouse is very complex on my skin. I totally get the idea, why people say Mond smells like a scented candle. But on my skin there is so much more than that... Opens up with loads of hay and instantly it reminded me of Sova, like a Sova jr. Soon subtle tobacco joins hay and they play, and play, and play... The actual drydown is sour and slightly sweet, might be red wine, might be cherry wine as well. Around that I detect a bunch of spices - uhm... honey, cinnamon, maybe a hint of cloves. Overall it is is comforting and easy to wear. Overall it reminds me of Sova and Kiste with some Jeke nuances. By the way, it's a very nostalgic fragrance to me. It takes me places. It brings me back to my childhood, holidays spent at my great grandfather's at the countryside. Bales of hay, apple garden, trees full of apples and pears where you can go, grab your hand and pick one then bite into it. Some pipe tobacco smoked by my great granddad's and by his son - my uncle. All smoothened and yes - creamy-like. I like it. It’s very subtle on my skin though.

Two days ago I was wearing Mond. In the middle of summer in Europe. It was 29 degree Celsius (~84 Fahrenheit) here in central Europe. It was a wee to hot for Mond. In that temperature stewed fruits along with whipped cream come in the forefront and take a lead. Sure all of other notes still were there. Crisp apples, hay, tobacco. It’s not a scent for summer but it’s gonna be a killer in upcoming fall, I can tell that already.

Honeyed milky spice tea for the top notes which start for around 2 hours, very smooth amber in the drydown. If fall is your favourite season, this will be your favourite fragrance. It has everything you want in an authentic gourmand fragrance. I start longing hot drinks after smelling this. That’s the scale of art in this perfume. Love the drydown.

Yes, there is a pissy "element" to it, included to Mond. I have had pretty similar situations with previous versions of Kiste (not the 2022 "Winter" one). I bet this must be honey.

I have a good number of Slumberhouse creations (including Broste, which many haven't heard of) and so far, as a first-wear impression, this is the only one I regret purchasing a FB blind. But the reasons for my regret might be the reasons you ABSOLUTELY may love it, so hear me out. This? Is Lobb-ade. Much like Michaelangelo's David -- when asked how he turned a block of marble into what is now a paradigm of sculpture, Michaelangelo replied "I simply removed all that WASN'T David" -- If you strip down all of Josh's creations to their bare elements, you get Mond, which is the refined and elemental "Guerlinade" of the whole Slumberhouse line, IMHO. Lobb-ade (or maybe "Lobbáde" which sounds more Frawnch. Add umlauts for a more Teutonic effect.?) (if you must). My regret is only because it is a far too familiar trope, but if you are just getting started with the house, it might be the one you want to start with, unless you want to go off into the light-ish route like Fjerne, Kiste, and Greve, or the darkish route like Norne and Sova. I guess that makes Mond iconic. It is either a pinnacle or dead average. I will probably be updating this...

A gourmand in the typical Slumberhouse style that manages to capture the smell of a rustic family holiday dinner gathering. The scent has many ingredients but the notes that stand out are apple, honey, pumpkin, cinnamon, tobacco, red wine and balsamic resins. The unisex scent in many ways reminiscent of other offerings of this house like Sova and Kiste, has moderate to strong sillage and good longevity. A nice way to celebrate Thanksgiving or Christmas throughout the year. If I have a complaint, it does not explore any new direction for this very eclectic house with an incredible cult following. Enjoy!

My early experience with Mond is very similar to that of the reviewer below me. I don’t find it as glaringly sweet as they do, but I completely agree with the scented candle association. In fact, as soon as I sprayed this on, my immediate impression was that it smelled exactly like walking into a craft store at this time of year.

Woody, woody, woody. Dry spicy potpourri by the fireplace. My husband says "This is the best perfume I've ever smelled!" so I'm happy he likes it on me, but he says it's too feminine for him to wear. (I think it's perfectly unisex) (it is quite sweet though) I'd like this as a candle, but not as a personal frag for me.

A Holiday/Thanksgiving candle. It has all of the elements listed above, you smell them all but for me it is a candle scent not a perfume.

Smells like runny honey and potpourri.

- Hot black tea ! To me, this version of Mond is a photorealistic cup of black tea, smells "opaque" due to somewhat milky undertone, with honey & syrup at the bottom. Although the tobacco is bitter and puckery at first, it's tinged with a dried apricot kind of sour-sweetness ("huamei"-like, if you know what I mean), and within seconds, it soft down to a cup of mildly bitter black tea (is this the "hay" note everyone is talking about?). An invisible (probably imaginary) milky tone smoothened out any sharp edges, giving this cup of tea an "opaque" texture. The dense, syrupy honey was present from the beginning, then hitting a bitter-sweet balance with black tea, next it swiftly passing the tipping point and taking over the whole scent. A few hours later, a familiar Slumberhouse trademark base revealed itself: like in Rume, it smells like a bitter-sweet condensed cough-syrup , on my hand it has quietly lasted another couple of hours.

My initial thoughts on mond: This is a very reductive autumnal gourmand. It smells like a spiced cider scented candle: artificially sweet, and while the balsamic acidity from the apple accord keeps some of the sugary facets in check...unfortunately the composition is missing a counterpoint. I wish the Vetiver was punched up a bit, or I wish there was some oak-moss, or maybe even some cade, or birch tar. There’s no counterpunch to this perfume, and the end effect is a composition that’s simply too sweet. It wears more like a walk through yankee-candle than a fully fleshed out Slumberhouse concoction. I do hope my thoughts change with more wears.

Cue the Slumberhouse fanboys claiming we've got another 10/10 masterpiece on our hands...

OMG -- there are quite a few stages to Mond, and most of us aren't gonna love ALL of these stages. Just from my first wear, there are 3, possibly 4, distinct stages in this scent's evolution. I might return and add to this review another time, or I might just add another one on its own. FIRST: there are throwbacks to early Sova and Jeke -- hay, tobacco and dry-arse herbal elements. Whilst this stage is okay, it is VERY similar to both Sova AND Jeke, which isn't bad in itself, but it's a little disappointing, but it only lasts for 15 - 20 minutes. SECOND: there's a bitter element that creeps in; this reminded me of the bitterness I used to get out of Brosse when I lived in the tropics (Brosse performs differently in the humidity), and this lasts for about an hour or so...I also got a few memories of old Ore, too. It might be the guaiac wood or the spices... THIRD: the wine comes out and blends with the apple and pumpkin -- this part lasts the longest, 3 to 4 hours or so. This part is my favourite...the red wine is quite apparent, too. It lingers in the air and I found myself catching wafts of it every so often. I love boozy scents, and Slumberhouse does boozy really REALLY well, I feel. LASTLY: the dry down is amazing. The whipped cream, sandalwood and marzipan is AMAZING -- by this stage it's a skin scent, and I really need to press my nose up into my wrist, but the accord struck is AMAZING. Truly amazing...it's not like anything Slumberhouse has ever done before, that's for sure...it's leans a little animalic, a little stinky-pissy musk, but it is all done with the right levels and balance, and yeah, I like this scent. I need to try it out a few more times, but for now, I think I really REALLY like it.

Mond is a difficult fragrance to review for the scent association it conjures however with all that aside it’s truly a remarkable composition. Imagine the brown tobacco of Jeke filtered through a lens of apple cider and spiced rum. The first 20 minutes showcases a fresh and airy take on tobacco while still retaining the core Slumberhouse DNA. Namely Kiste, Jeke and Baque. However Mond calls to mind the powdery hay and tobacco leaf of Chergui all rolled up in bitter, spicy medicinal herbs with a backbone of pancake drizzled sandalwood. The heart of Mond slowly strips away the powdery nuances and cider for a deeper more “slumbery” stewed fruit accord with the ever growing pancake presence lurking below the cauldron. The complexity of the drydown is a thing to behold as Josh’s scent pyramids are typically monotone and HUGE where this composition is masterful and refined. Each layer peels away and transitions into the next with such mastery that it almost doesn’t feel like Josh’s typical style. It’s huge without having a massive horizontal scent spectrum. The vertical spectrum is gargantuan as the complexity of the materials is in perfect harmony with incredible depth but don’t expect the thickness of Sova or Norne. Even lighter offerings like Sibet offer more “meat” on the bones than what we have with Mond and for that this is truly a departure of style. Mond is deceptively strong. I went noseblind after a few hours only to wake up the next morning with a huge blast of ambery brown sugar and light tobacco billowing from my chest. The three sprays to my shirt was filling my bathroom with autumnal spices 14 hours after spraying.

Mond Monday Mond Slumberhouse Josh Lobb I enjoy the variety of Tobacco Lobb uses in his creations such as Jeke, Sova and Mond. It's unencumbered by a smokiness that most perfumers feel weirdly obligated to stuff with their Tobaccos. Lobb's Tobacco smells as Tobacco smells in nature - dry, clove-like spicy, and woody, with a faintly smoky undertone. Mond is a curried Gourmand variation, chiefly accompanied by something tea-like. It is a sweet-spicy honeyed syrupy (Davana/Immortelle-like facets) and ambery thing that unfortunately needs a dozen sprays to be smelled in the air. There is nondescript fruitiness here - possibly the Pumpkin. There is a cozying element to Mond, something that reminds me of Rice and Sandalwood, a part of it also suggestive of the tranquilizing woodiness of Fjerne. Thankfully this isn't as imperceptible as Fjerne ultimately turns out to be, but nevertheless it remains a skin-scent throughout the four or five hours it lasts. I am a fan of the honeyed Tobacco in it with nuances of Tea, Hay, Vetiver, Rum and (thick ambered spicy) Coumarin, though I must confess my lack of patience with things like these when they cost over 2 or 3 hundred dollars for a meagre 30ml. For such prices it needs to be at least a 100mls to be considered seriously. As of now, I can not treat such a practice as anything more than an affront. I just saw someone selling 30ml of this skin scent for over 400 on eBay. Yeah, fuck off. @bigbusynose - The Gram'

4 Word Review: Christian Girl Autumn (complimentary). Actual Review: My skin seems to draw out sweet gourmand notes to the detriment of the rest of a fragrance, so this could just be because of my own skin chemistry but for me, this scent is pure kitsch. Like, an almost cartoonish rendering of autumn, which I can appreciate but it isn’t something that I love on my own skin. Someone mentioned the blue ridge parkway below and meant the scenery but for me it’s pulling off the parkway to go to The Apple House, an apple cider donut mainstay where I-81 and I-66 meet. I really wish I got that herbal opening other people have reported! On me the opening is a punchy apple cider and maraschino cherry, with the whipped cream-y note amping it up in the background. The fruity sharpness fades into something a little more rich and ambery after several minutes but the overall impression remains apple cider and spices, teetering on red wine. The dry down is honeyed marzipan. It doesn’t read as particularly animalic to me as some have said, but then again one of my favorite fragrances is Francesca Bianchi’s The Lover’s Tale so my threshold for skank is high. Overall, Mond is a lovely rendering of what it wants to be and maintains the rich tartness of cider without sliding into apple pie territory but it really is just, like, comically, pinterest-board autumnal.

Mond by Slumberhouse Take smokiness of #Sova and resinous peaches from #kiste you would get a fair idea on how mond smells but just an idea. It's more than Sova and Kiste, it's certainly more than #tobacco #smoke and #peaches There are many twists and turns and you are always on a rollercoster ride with some beautiful notes unravels themselves with time and leaves you wondering what next. I certainly get apple note (a pronounced one) and when you mix apple with tobacco you get #magic written all over it. I can also detect some hay, honey and plum which makes it even more special and kinda unique as you would get to smell them one by one. It's said to have 73 ingredients to it but I don't have that fine nose to detect them all however whatever am sniffing time to time is simply beautiful. I wore it like 3 hours ago and it's still going strong on me. Projection is not monsterous but every perfume doesn’t have to be strong in that so I get it and no complaints there as well. I am sure, I will be wearing this way more than others this #autumn

I moved from LA, where "Autumn" was just an idea, and now live in an area where the trees turn beautiful shades of yellow, orange and red. There's a crisp chill in the air, and everything just feels cozy. I hadn't understood the magic of Autumn until recently, and this perfume certainly captures that beauty. I'd heard a rumor from another Slumberhouse fan that this was modeled after Zahd, except with a pumpkin & apple notes rather than cranberry and cherry, but I didn't get that. I get the golden hay note from Sova, the dry tobacco from Baque (not the sweet tobacco from Kiste), and this gorgeous pumpkin note. I agree with the review below that it sits closer to the skin than some of the other fragrances from this house, but that actually is a really nice quality here. It wears very cozy and warm.

Mond is quickly becoming one of my favorite Slumberhouse’s. It doesn’t quite smell like Sova or Jeke anymore. I don’t get the Baque references now either. It’s become it’s own “thing”. I think initially our noses gravitate to the accords we’re familiar with but Mond absolutely stands on it’s own in the Slumber lineup. Warm, bitter hay and sweet pipe tobacco with a gorgeous mulled wine aroma. Those spices are just incredible and this wears beautifully in the dry Sonoran heat. It’s easy to want to hate on a fragrance especially when it’s as hyped up as anything Slumberhouse related and I almost got bit by the hater but myself. To me this is what Chergui would smell like if Josh Lobb was perfuming for Serge Lutens. It’s just an incredible work of perfumery.

First thing out of the sample vial, I get yeasty beer spilled on the floor. That tames down quick though, and gives me spiced apple cider for about an hour when the tobacco comes in with dusty bright notes that make it more dry, woody and loud than I like. It's definitely an autumn fragrance, and I can totally see where others are smelling a flat out autumn mood, but on me it just gets too loud, and I had to scrub it. I had this issue with Nanban and Ambre Nomad too; just too loud somehow.

Mond was a major disappointment for me. The opening comes across as harsh and medicinal, and instead of developing into something smoother or more enjoyable, it stays chaotic and unbalanced throughout. While the performance is undeniably strong, that only makes it more overwhelming and unpleasant to wear. For the hype and price, I expected artistry, but this one is simply unwearable.

i like this a lot. yes, it does remind me of sova in the top (the hay and the honey) -- but also of rume with the dense, slightly raunchy, labdanum-heavy drydown. and i love the name ("mond" = german word for "moon".)

I'll keep this short and sweet. On me this is a scrubber, and I don't have many of those. It's very very waxy and candle-ish on me. Also the honey turns slightly pissy on my skin.

The description is one of the most pretentious things I've ever read. That said, sounds good.
