I passed judgement on Sadanne, and I suffered as a result of it. My previous experiences with Slumberhouse have left me with a what I thought was a good idea of what the brand "is"; dark, thick, sinister potions of esoteric evocation. "They all smell like something a neolithic cave wizard concocted out of rare precious herbs and balsams" I thought, both pigeonholing the brand and putting a profoundly annoying image into the world. Surely I have no need to try the goofy, light-colored strawberry fragrance. Embarrassingly, I found myself assuming that this was just some mandatory niche house "feminine" scent, amongst a line of powerful unisex nectars we have the odd man out, a strawberry-gummi and champagne fragrance... Upon finally getting Sadanne in a sample pack from the brand however, I was shocked to find a deep, animalic undertone within it. The ambergris gives a salty, musky, almost bad-breath-like fuzziness to an otherwise confectionary strawberry note. And as the trolli-berry decadence begins to wear off, a tart, boozy wine note appears. This of course intermingles with a very subtle rose (rose petals is an apt image), and the entire thing gives off this sinister atmosphere... Somehow with this playful, idiosyncratic stack of notes, Josh Lobb has captured some oddly specific vibe. Theres something decadently hedonistic about it, while simultaneously carrying with it a sour sharpness, reminding you that every good drunk is followed by a hangover, every 2 AM entire strawberry rhubarb pie-and-champagne binge is followed by heartburn and an upset stomach. Theres a sinister extra-dimensionality to this that I think is the actual essence of the brand; a sort of dialog within the structure of the fragrance. Elsewhere the scale is colossal (like with the implied boreal threat of Norne) or startlingly microscopic (with the baubles and paraphernalia of Baque). Maybe It's not always a threat (New Sibet is like waking up and realizing you're the last person on earth ...and Kiste is the beauty of the sun moving just close enough to the Earth to assuredly destroy it) but Slumberhouse scents always seem to "say" something. Theres an implication to them...Sadanne, it's at a very human scale. It feels dissociated. 8.5/10

This is specific to the 2022 version, as a caveat, but Sådanne singlehandedly changed my mind about ambergris in fragrance. That note usually repels me, but holy moly - this whip-leathered, musky, delicious ambergris absolutely knocked my socks off. I am beginning to understand the hushed reverence and devotion that surrounds the name of Slumberhouse. There's plenty going on in this one - the delicious, relentless rose-strawberry duet is operatic and perilously sweet as it slithers against the wicked black leather of the ambergris. It's so easy to gorge myself on this one - sticky red juice running down the wrist, and a "Roses of Heliogabalus" avalanche of petals make for a bacchanalian party all the way through. With this kind of sweet, fruited excess, you'd think it might become too much of a good thing, cloying and nightmarish - no. All I want of Sådanne is more, more, more. Drown me in it. Bind me in that irresistible ambergris leather and get me ever more drunk on that petaled wine. Just delicious. Eventually, a thorny, deep pine emerges, heady and naturalistic and gloriously resinous and sticky. It plays beautifully with the ambergris, and maintains the strong framework needed to balance the riotously sweet roses and berries. Longevity and projection are staggering, too. I sprayed it on in the morning and it lingered through the afternoon of the following day. Even the room I sprayed it in held Sådanne's shadow for days after. Just absolutely wild - granted, I have a pretty sensitive nose, but this kind of performance was totally unprecedented. It's got the relentless performance levels of some of those dynamic 80s powerhouses like Opium and Giorgio - but glorious Sådanne doesn't fatigue me in the least, as the aforementioned often do. While I never expected to enjoy a fragrance so perilously sweet, or so prominently featuring ambergris, of all things - I'm so delighted I gave this one a shot. I don't ever wish to be without it. It's not a casual wear, it's not a conservative choice, and it's definitely not a safe blind buy - but it is a rapturous, hedonistic experience that leaves me dazed, delighted, and brazenly begging for more.

Without seeing the notes in advance, my first thoughts were that Sadanne smelled like white wine with something very fruity. Maybe like a mediocre-quality rosé or a strawberry wine. It smelled like fermented strawberries, that lovely scent (note sarcasm) when you buy a crate and leave them out too long, and they go bad. Seemed more dry than sweet, but as I continued to scrutinize, I decided the sweetness was perfectly balanced. Initially I thought the fermented fruit was off-putting, yet it intrigued me too. I was so impressed with my first experience with Slumberhouse that I wondered why they would create a linear fruity perfume such as Sadanne. This burning question is the reason I let it slowly unfold on my skin. There simply had to be more to it. It was worth the wait. An animalic note caught me off guard and totally threw my nose off. I had to smell it over and over again because I wondered if I was really smelling something animalic or if it was my imagination, but it continued to grow stronger. So then I had fermented, animalic strawberry. It was challenging and odd, as strawberries and wine are deliciously edible, but a dirty animal's funk is not. In the big picture, Sadanne smells wonderfully carnal. And that is not a description I ever thought I would use to describe a predominantly strawberry perfume. I sniffed my wrist all day long (lasting time was easily 24 hours, through a night of sleep), and Sadanne grew on me to the point where I want a full bottle. This is art! It's not your run-of-the-mill fruity perfume by any means. A perfumer who is not only able to come up with such an odd combination of notes that actually work well together but who succeeds in taking what could have been a Paris Hilton perfume and turns it into a whole new genre that I would like to refer to as "fruity-animalic" most certainly has captured my attention. Bravo! Very well done!

An intoxicating chameleon of a scent. Sådanne opens with a bizarre combination of deep, sticky-sweet berry-rose, syrupy booze and a counterpoint of thin, arctic, coniferous resin. The icy resin pulls the scent up and prevents it from entering sugar-bomb territory and is truly very beautiful, shimmering gently above the composition, like glass or ice. A scent so 'high pitched' it sits almost out of reach, like the eerie, breathy crystalline sound a human hears from a dog whistle. Forgive my strange metaphors here, but Sådanne is not an easy scent to explain. The notes listed are certainly present, but don't smell anything at all like I expected. This is a case where the odd, (and slightly wanky), press release actually explains the scent much more accurately than the actual notes. The notes are fairly linear, with the only major change being a shattering of the icy aurora playing out above into something gentler, less biting as a dark, animalic vibe kicks in about half way through the wear-time and again - prevents the ever-present red-berries from straying into teenage girl territory. Sillage and longevity are equally as confusing to me. Sådanne seems to shimmer in an out of focus, almost in a drunken fashion. It seems to all but disappear for a while, only to rear up again, loud and slurred out of nowhere. I initially thought longevity was about moderate, but after a few wears I've found it popping back up unexpectedly, 12 plus hours after application. In short, a wonderful, strange, ethereal monster of a frag. Drunken fruit with a rose-bud in the snow.

Oh. Wow. This is a doozy. What a beautiful fragrance (It better be, for the $$/ml) Sadanne is the link between flirtatious innocence & coy debauchery. The whole scent is an obscure juxtaposition between accords; a yin & yang type of ordeal. There is the sweet, fuzzy, effervescent half - and the animalic, lived-in, chaotic half. I semi expect this to be what an acid trip would smell like. The opening of Sadanne is complex. There are sweet, ripe strawberries soaked in white wine, or champagne. Fizzy & delicate, enveloping & romantic! Boozy, syrupy, romantic, glamorous. Combating the sweetness is a thick, dark smog of something more sinister. I'm going to attribute the sticky 'pine needles/creepy forest' feel to the ambre gris, woods, and booze - it's unique, to say the least! The drydown brings something much more wearable - a whisper of that same syrupy sweetness, and the bouncing back and forth between something dirty, old, decrepit & sticky, child-like, and sparkling... This is a wild ride, strange and haunting. I'm head over heels in love with this fragrance! There's no way to escape being lured in by it's Black-Tie-Only appeal. Best uses: Traversing around a busy city and mingling with the nightlife, wearing floor-length gowns, riding in limousines, visiting exotic countries, having a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Let me just throw this out there.. This WILL be someone's Nirvana, hands down. Hell, this could even be MY Nirvana. This was a clash between confectionery greens versus natural greens. The immediate thing that jumped out was the intense green apple jolly rancher accord. Disguised in the chummy candy flavor is a green rose but you probably wouldn't know it unless you looked at the note breakdown. Later, the syrupy sweets are condensed to leathery strips of danky natural greens. During this period is where Sadanne is most masculine. I must note that the jolly rancher accord is tattooed throughout the duration but decreases in volume. Speaking of duration, this is one of the few summer scents with killer longevity but not as cloying as the syrup suggests. In closing, who would of ever guessed that Slumberhouse would make a fragrance that is kid-friendly...and when I say kid, I'm talking teenage range. If this was packaged in a bath and body works bottle, no one would recognize this as niche perfumery. No doubt, one of the more palsy-walsy niche offerings on the market..At this point, the wrist sniffing has become somewhat of a habit.

I go back and forth with Sadanne. I've tested it several times. When I love it, I really love it. And when I don't, it's really, really bad and stinky. Each time I test it, I never know if it will be amazing or terrible. It really intrigues me! I've hesitated getting a full bottle because I just can't make up my mind whether it is the most interesting and unique strawberry scent ever, or just a terrible body odor smell :/ I do normally like ambergris and other animalic notes. Maybe my skin chemistry doesn't work with it, I don't know. One day I will decide! Update 2022: I decided that I really want this perfume but now I can't find it for a reasonable price. Oh well. Update 2024: Finally got it for a decent price. I'm so happy! My nose has grown to really appreciate this scent, especially after trying lots of other strawberry perfumes that just didn't do it for me. This is my ultimate strawberry. <333

I used to go to the Renaissance Fairs with everyone dressing as they did in Da Vinci's time, and I wore a pink empire gown with a rosebud crown on my head. There was a table overflowing with strawberries that you could buy to eat plain or dip in various sauces. The smell was incredible - hundreds of ripe berries, mingled with resinous forest setting all around, and my crown of roses! Memories of this time flashed through my mind with the first spray of Sadanne. It is crazy beautiful! A stained glass window of a perfume glittering in the light. Fragrant colors of strawberry and rose reflected on the darker ambergris and wood. The contrast makes a resplendent setting for the ingenuous strawberry note. Just so fresh and unexpected! Paired with the rose, and leavened by the ambergris, the smell is original and ravishing. Definitely a "Love" for me!

Sådanne is a rose with an accent acute—a rose by the name of a pale pink Provençal rosé, with strawberry and stone and a saline funk to match. This was a surprising love for me. The sample I had didn’t click right away—something about the rose and strawberry led me to think this was more a bleach-blonde type of perfume. But knowing Slumberhouse, that didn’t seem right. And I’m glad I stuck with it. Despite the brand’s well-known linearity, this one settles into an entirely different beast. In fact, the “settle” is more of a “stale”—the berry starts to decay, the bright acidity starts to ferment, and a furry animalic curtain drops. And that’s when things get really good. Texturally, Sådanne is pretty thick and fleshy, but it masquerades with an obscurant berry brightness. Lingerie over cellulite. I’m into it.

Some perfumes seem to benefit from packaging, and I have no doubt that if Givenchy had released this with a hot pink fluted girly OTT bottle, it would have knocked sales out of the park. This is truly a hens night or brides brunch in a bottle. Sweet, sensuous, smells like a cocktail you'd get to match your fucschia taffeta cocktail mini. There's a real bon vivant, charming and vivacious girliness to the scent. Parisienne and Gucci Rush have the same kind of vibe; carefree femininity in a bottle. Love this stuff. My only gripe is with my strange bottle and the odd Harbour Freight style black rubber nipple cap. Come on, Josh, lay off the drugs. WTF?

I don't know where to even begin with this fragrance, it's my personal favorite fragrance of all time and definitely the most feminine leaning I've personally owned. Sadanne is very fruity floral slightly boozy with a touch of animalics that keep it from going over the edge of "too sweet." at its core Sadanne is a strawberry rose fragrance, slightly salty from the ambergris and a touch of booze from the white wine. Truly an indescribable experience for me and is a must try for everyone in my opinion, I truly couldn't live without a bottle of it. 100000000000/10

I wore Sadanne today and it inspired me to log in to Fragrantica and extol its virtues. I bought my bottle years ago, so not sure about continuity of the fragrance but mine is a beast of a rose. I use beast bc, yes, this has an animalic vein running through that dark, luscious, fruity, wine sangria of a rose. What a gorgeous scent, I don't know if others even smell it on me, but I do and it makes my day better. That's all I can ask from a perfume. I think I need to log on to Fragrantica more to inspire myself and have great days amplified by a great aroma.

I feel this is a female strawberry bomb. She has no age, she can be anyone she wants to be. She loves her juicy lipstick and her seductive walk. She can make you fall for her anytime she wants. She likes to play roles and will always keep you guessing. She is a temptress. A ripe strawberry drenched in white wine toped with fresh rose petals and sprinkled with ambergris. You could say she is decadent, even trashy, but the truth is you will never really get to know her. She is a dream, a mirage. A fantasy. Lust in a bottle.

This is a rich strawberry perfume. It is a lot like ..."hot strawberry compote", you can smell the "heat" weird I know...its sensory..textural. It also has a simliar resinous note in the base (like Norne) not sure but could be coniferous? Maybe it is a combination of the wine and amber woods that creates the resinous note? Nevermind no need to dwell, this is not super sweet, though its syrupy it is balanced perfectly. This is a hot strawberry jam for grown ups, I agree its bubbly! It is perfect for winter.

  • em inglês

What a wonderful strawberry wine rose. I typically am not a rose person at all, but this is so unique and interesting. The wine’s mineral nuance balances the juicy strawberry and rose. The jammy vibe isn’t fully rose, but more the strawberry. The animalic touches are the cherry (or strawberry) on top! The salty animalic ambergris whips everything into shape creating a full experience. This may be one of a kind for me. Edit: Wearing today (11/15/25), and it’s giving wealthy vampiric ancestor.

Tipsy strawberries and seawater, roses and a tangled forest. Projects like spilled wine and soaks clothes for weeks. Several years ago I wrote a short story set on Öland, an island off the coast of Sweden. My two young lovers celebrate midsummer eating strawberries and getting drunk, and if the pages could be scented, they'd smell like Sådanne. Salty sand and boozy sweet fruit, so sun-ripe it's alcoholic, eaten in the shadows of the wind-twisted trees on the shore. I adore it.

Amazing fragrance Unique rose and strawberry aroma with a faint animalic undertone. A seductive odor. Excellent performance all around. It is insanely gorgeous! The darker ambergris and wood were reflected in the sweet hues of strawberry and rose. Simply so novel and unexpected. The aroma is distinctive and alluring when combined with the rose and ambergris.

Made the mistake of trying a sample of this, and I'm in love--beautiful golden raisins, syrupy strawberry with vanillic boozy underpinnings. Totally not on the market from reliable sources, so Moby Dick style, this may be my white whale.

  • em inglês

Strawberry-flavoured green wine into which some cork pieces accidentally fell. So sour, fruity and slightly woody. My mouth is watering. I find it a tad similar to Pulp, but I definitely prefer Sadanne.

Please bring this one back! It is so sweet and beautiful and I never got a chance to buy a full bottle!
