Incensed

Smell Bent's description of this one is: "omani frankincense and Kenyan myrrh smoldering atop a pile of vanilla soaked woods - a truly religious experience!" And it's an apt description! It's reminiscent of church incense, especially in the first hour or so of wearing, and I love the mystical spiciness of it. The mix gradually dries down to basically a rich vanilla, which makes me think of baking cookies or something--but they'd still be mystical cookies. Yummy! FYI, this scent comes in both a fragrance oil and a spray variety. I got the oil, and it is indeed strong. A little dab will do ya. Good deal at around $20 for the bottle, though!

J'adore for this one. This is the second smellbent I've tried, the first being St. Tropez Dispenser. Really, I regret not getting this months ago in US. I surely will try to get the perfume oil ASAP. Smoky, sweet, and balmy. These three qualities would define Incensed. My first thought after trying was "Ambre Sultane", but this is better and cheaper. The vanilla is not cloying, but it is mixed very well into the incense and myrrh. I think this is the first smoky-niche fragrance that I love. As time passes, the vanilla will dominate beautifully with the incense. I don't recommend blind buy, but it must be on the test list!

Incensed is a deep, musty vanilla. There is some raspy frankincense and some myrrh but it is definitely vanilla dominant. The woods beneath are much more prominent than what I expected, in the drydown i detect quite a bit of cedar, specifically the aromatic furniture variety last seen in Totem Eclipse (but used here much more effectively). I love vanilla when it is rendered inedible with the use of smoky and heavy dark elements, this is a good example of that done right. I do wish the drydown wasn't as strong in the vanilla department, but I still enjoy it. Performance is a bit quiet but it lasts pretty well. Nice. 7.5/10

Lovely and very much up my alley. To me, this is a unisex fragrance and smells fairly "natural," which I prefer. It is dry enough not to be a cloying gourmand, but warm enough not to let the cardamom smell like sweat on the skin (Hermes Voyage has this problem at dry-down, at least on me). It is also well integrated and has elegant, thus skirting the dreaded "Hippie" scent category. To me, it is like an exotic summer breeze with precious sandalwood and a touch of incense smoke. Nicely composed, and affordable (yay!).

This was my first Smell Bent purchase about 2yrs ago I want to say and it was a blind buy for me on top of that ....A darn good blind buy! This lovely concoction is just done so well and puts me in a relaxed state of mind everytime I wear it or just putting it on my hand just to smell it. On me I get an aurea of a warm smoky vanilla due to the incense and that's just perfect.
