Modern Love

Genuinely sex in a bottle! I just received my bottle of Modern Love today and I’m just wowed by the first sniff! This house has always been on the cutting edge of quirky concoctions and this is no exception. Animalic amber was the description and boy, does it deliver. As out there as it is though, there’s nothing vulgar, crude, or unrefined about ML. Take Tom Ford Amber Absolute, subtract the tobacco, add in some heady white and yellow florals, and then a mysterious accord...ISO E perhaps? Or it may be the pheromones referenced. Sweaty bodies and sex, indeed. Not polite sex, but not raunchy, hard core porn either. Excellent stuff. I think Bowie would approve.

that is a very good animalic perfume! Just balancing at the edge of the TooMuch , intoxicating and positively sexy. Well done Brent!

No thanks. Sorry, but it smells like pee. Everyone at my work thought I had been drenched in cat pee. It's cat pee in a bottle. After 3 hours, it' gets alright, but the closer you get, the more of a pee scent it has. I'm also not talking cat pee, like how juniper can smell. I'm saying, strong male cat urine that makes the neighbourhood smell like cat pee.

"sweaty bodies, narcotic florals, and pheromone finished with dry amber." ^--- That description is spot on. The floral stands out strong to me, powdery floral, mixed with something like hairspray. I also get the animalic notes pretty strongly as well. This one's just not for me. I hate to use the word "cheap", but it really smells like a cheap nightclub, or high school prom. I appreciate Smell Bent's creativity and obvious passion for what they do, but this one just doesn't work on me.

Tabu, is that you??? At first sniff, I was taken back to the days I’d wear my tiny bottle of Tabu by Dana to middle school, surreptitiously sniffing my wrist throughout the day. On me, this is definitely not freshly-applied first period Tabu, with its big scandalous blast of civet. This is Tabu after falling asleep in algebra for a bit and halfheartedly playing badminton for an hour and a half during gym— the animalic note is tamer and a sleepy powderiness has set in. It is not a skin scent, but not a silage beast either. There’s almost an amber quality to Modern Love with a hint of that white floral top note. It IS sexy, but to me that sexiness is more suited to a lazy Saturday morning spent in the bedroom than a wild Friday at the club; this is the smell of waking up beside a lover and throwing off the covers to release the smell of gently sweating bodies mixed with the vestiges of last night’s perfume.
