Salty Stares

This is my signature scent. I LOVE this. It's so unique and I always get compliments when I wear it. It's def a green unisex scent and that is part of the appeal to me. It lasts at least 4 hours on my skin and even longer on my clothes. I did see that SNIF is discontinuing it so i bought an extra bottle. I may have to buy more!!

It's on sale (probably being discontinued), so I went ahead and bought it. It is basically a more naturally smelling D&G Light Blue with Green Pepper. It opens smelling like the best version of D&G, just blast of marine freshness, then the green pepper comes in (a bit too forward imho), but after a short while they all make friends and the green pepper adds an additional fresh facet I didn't realize I even wanted before. I like it more than Ex on the Beach (got a sample from someone) which is also green pepper but maybe more floral. In that one the green pepper seems more distracting tbh. The only other green pepper fragrance I've tried before these is JSP Gong and it didn't work for me there as well as it does in Salty Stares. For me it is too masculine of a scent profile, but if you already like this certain type of marine profile, I definitely recommend for the price! I will be wearing it as an under the shirt kind of fresh scent (like I am right now as I type this and continually sniffing under my shirt!), which I do with a few other masculine leaning freshies. Not super original, but well done just the same!

I honestly really like this scent. I find that a lot of modern "marine" scents are very similar, especially in the designer fragrance market. I really enjoy this for its different take on a "marine" scent. On first spraying it, you get a very lemon-y/citrus smell, and a small bit of the ginger. Upon getting to the middle notes you get a very interesting mix between wood (I think sandal or cedar wood), green pepper, and the remaining bit of bergamot and ginger. what can put people off is the idea of a green pepper scent, but it comes together to form this very fresh/citrusy/marine scent. The oakmoss is noticeable throughout, but never truly takes charge. Instead of smelling like the ocean, it smells more like a beautiful garden with the ocean breeze coming through. So if you are looking for a nice late spring/early summer fresh/marine scent or a spring break scent this would be 100% a good buy.

Probably my favorite snif scent, and I've tried quite a few. I also got this on sale, so well after it first came out. It opens with a strong green scent that reminds me much more of clary sage than bell pepper, though I can smell both. After a while (over an hour or two) it settles into a lovely white floral. On me, it lasts super long, without over projecting. I really enjoy how it changes over time. Great to wear during the day, and the floral comes out later so it can carry into your night. On sale, I'd say it's a pretty good value, too.

I actually like this! If you like Light blue, this will be up your ally- but it’s less citrus forward. There’s a peppery note which is unique and fresh. In the opening it reminds me of a green juice from your local juice bar- (you know the kind with cucumber, green apple, spinach, ginger, etc) Then the florals come through and it ends up being a nice skin scent after a while. Safe blind buy ONLY if you like green/ aquatic scents.

I was surprised by this one. It doesn't have the overbearing amber in most contemporary scents. It is still strong and long-lasting, though. It's a pleasant green cucumber-garden scent with a hint of soring flowers. I like it much more than I thought I would. Truly unisex. My one complaint is that it leans toward hand lotion/candle territory.

Bought this as a blind buy because I needed to hit a free ship minimum while purchasing another scent from Snif (Ace Ace Baby) and based on the sale price and reviews seemed relatively safe. The opening is great: Like those said before it's green pepper and similar to D&G's Light Blue. The dry down is very unpleasant with my skin chemistry. It has a smell to me that reminds me of powdery, aerosol drugstore hair products. I can't explain it any other way. Found a way to layer it with one fragrance I like but don't love (DS&Durga Rose Atlantic) and another I loveee (Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille). With those two scents it smells fresh, floral, and spicy. The dry down is almost like chamomile tea. But back to the Salty Stares itself... would not buy again but definitely not a scrubber. I can see this working well for a lot of people. Lasts all day without being too overwhelming and a decent sillage.

I find this fragrance kind of lemony. That dries down and I feel like I get something that reminds me of carrot. I would definitely consider this unisex. I find nothing from this brand lasts very long. I also find it frustrating that you can’t buy discovery sets or travel sizes. Also, this fragrance is discontinued. It is fairly new, but no longer available. For what it’s worth I do enjoy this scent though. A nice fresh scent. **Update: I determined this is too vegetal for me. (As in vegetables.) Think farmers market or vegetable garden. Also leans just a bit too masculine for my taste. I can see though how people liked it and I bet there are plenty of people who would want it to be made available for purchase again.

I think I would enjoy this perfume much more if the green pepper note weren’t as strong. I love the smell of bell pepper, but this note is so overwhelming I don’t get much of the other notes. Makes me a bit headachey

I blind bought this based on the notes, and because it's discontinued, that was my only option to try it. It smells absolutely delicious but completely masculine. It smells familiar, which is probably due to all the comparisons to Light Blue. I would swoon to smell this on a man, but I don't think it suits a woman, so I'll be selling my bottle. It does not smell like pickles at all to me, and I also can't pick out bergamot. To me, it's well-blended and no note stands out. It smells like a man fresh out of the shower, after using nice body wash and cologne. Snif's marketing always comes across as feminine in my opinion, so I was not expecting such a manly fragrance from them.

Not a safe blind buy, my bottle immediately went to Mercari. Very sharp and astringent green scent with bitterness that reads fresh and somehow damp and swampy at the same time. I also completely get Rosiloquy’s half-pickled cucumbers reference. For me all the notes are there (green pepper is a beast here) with the exception of ginger. It reminds me of NEST Amazon Lily, but Snif leans more masculine.

This perfume immediately smells like cucumbers that are half pickled, still very crunchy fresh cucumbers but soured. I don’t want to smell like that, I was hoping someone else on here had the same opinion, maybe it’s just my nose but unfortunately this doesn’t work for me.

For those folks describing Salty Stares smelling like half pickled cucumbers, this is likely the ingredient they are using to make the oak moss note in the perfume. I have experienced this with multiple “aquatic” scents but not all and find this perfume to smell not only pickled but almost fishy. The pickled smell sometimes smells like seaweed and somewhat fishy based on the type of oak moss used. How this smells to you is not just your chemistry, but also your ability to smell. For example, I can smell things that other people often cannot, like volatile organic compounds produced by mold and fungus. I have noticed some of them I like the smell of and others not so much. With this particular formula, it takes at least an hour for the pickled seaweed to dissipate for me, weather I apply it to my skin, clothing, or blotter paper. After that, I find it tolerable, but not what I’m looking for in a perfume!

Salty stares is one of my favs from snif, its rlly just fresh and nice. When i first smelled this it instantly reminded me of the complimentary body care, and shampoo you get in hotels which i LOVE.
