Sweet Ash

At first spray, it reminds me of Christmas Tree shopping. Balsam Fir and juniper mingle together with a surprisingly fresh, tart, juicy bergamot, and then after that it dries down to toasty, warm, woody goodness. This perfume is super cozy and great for winter and fall, though I find it's neutral enough to wear all year round. Aromatic and woody notes balance out the sweetness, making this perfectly unisex. It reminds me of a loved one's sweater. It has a similar DNA as Cloud or Baccarat, but I prefer this one, which is great because of the price point comparison. Its longevity and sillage are both pretty good, though I prefer fragrances that don't last forever because I am sensitive to fragrance. It's sweet from vanilla and tonka bean, but not nearly sweet enough to be cloying and headache-inducing. Gonna wear this one a lot for the winter holidays.

This is the first perfume I've worn that had a group of women chasing me down asking what I was wearing. I've only smelled BR540 once and hated how sweet it was so I'm not sure of the comparison a lot of reviewers are making. Sweet Ash is a lightly sweet, green, vanilla-fir combo that I really love. It's certainly not sophisticated or complex but it's still really beautiful and appeals to a lot of people which is great! On me, it lasts 5-6 hours so nice for nighttime wear. I was lucky enough to get a bottle second-hand for less than half the price. I don't think I'd purchase a full bottle at retail.

My biggest compliment getter at the bars, do not listen to the haters if you love a sexy woodsy scent!!!!!!! This is Cloud's sexier woodsier feistier older sister. Perfectly unisex where it is not too masculine, but not too feminine. Vanilla and Tonka perfectly blend out the woods notes. Its sweet and earthy in a pine way, not a dirt way. Spray underneath the ears to really heat up the sweet notes, if you like it more earthy spray on your clothes. I am not Snif fan but I repeat buy this and have been for years because people ask me what I am wearing so often.

Super pretty and effortless, this is the best "dumb reach" fragrance I've ever found. Sweet and a bit spicy while still being fresh. You aren't going to offend anyone while wearing this. **I can also see the comparison to Baccarat Rouge in the opening but they are NOT dupes. Think slightly estranged cousins. Baccarat isn't as earthy or as spicy as Sweet Ash and it's not sweet in the same candy-floss way Baccarat is. It also projects a lot more than the other SNIF products on me?? I get so many compliments while wearing this.

This is my go-to winter scent and the only perfume from Snif that I've tried so far that actually lasts. I would describe it as a warm, heady scent where the tonka bean, vanilla, and bergamot really shines without getting overpowered by the unexpected woody notes which tend to lean more masculine. I could see this being a great unisex scent, but it leans more feminine for me personally. I always get complimented on this perfume when I'm out and about and only a few sprays goes a long way.

I can't quite put my finger on what makes this perfume so special but I am *obsessed* with it. I am sniffing my shirt collar as we speak, craving another whiff. The blend of scents is hard for my nose to decipher, and that doesn't happen to me often. It's undeniably woody and almost a little green/earthy, but still so powdery, dusty, and sweet. It's comforting but not quite warm, though I wouldn't call it cold either. She's an enigma. I love her.

I really didn’t like this at first, but I think with the right layering combo this is actually amazing. When I first tried it a few months ago I thought it was a bit axe body spray-like, and while I thought it smelled okay it kinda turned me off. I tried it again recently and I layered it with the glossier you body butter, and I cannot stop smelling myself! So if you’re not loving this, play around with layering combos and see how you feel!

This used to be my favorite scent three years ago. It’s so beautiful. The green notes really shine but the vanilla is detectable in the dry down. This has that same synthetic sweet DNA as Baccarat and Cloud. If you like those but want to still be different, you should give this a try. The sillage is insanely good for this perfume and it lasts a long time. Definitely worth it for the price.

This is so good, I tested and immediately bought a bottle. I do get a bit of the BC540 vibes but this smells more grounded and earthy. I think the patchouli gives it a darker feel so its not as light or airy but the vanilla lightens it up a bit. Overall beautiful scent and a great birthday and Christmas gift to myself, I can't wait to check out more from this brand.

Came in a sample scent pack and wasn’t too sure about it. But grabbed for it on a rainy cooler day when I wanted to feel fresh and nature based. This was for sure what I was looking for. Green trees, a bit pineapple sweet, I pick up a bit of honey dew, and just nature. Really enjoying it. Would be a bit out of place for warmer weather.

This is the only Snif perfume that I'm 100% sold on. It's a warm, earthy, and still sweet. Like folks have said it's BR 540's cousin, with more emphasis on the earthy undertones. Snif totally captured me with the advertising, and I've found their home tryout process really frictionless but I don't think I'll be coming back.

Subtle yet addicting. I keep going back for another snif! It doesn’t project much, but it lasts a while. 24 hrs later, my shirt still smells great. Fresh, green, and coniferous over a sweet, tonka/vanilla base. To me it works in the same way that mint and vanilla do. A wonderful combination!

I really love this fragrance. It may be a dupe for BR but considering the price, well worth it. The longevity and sillage are excellent. Also very similar to Dime’s “dans les bois” but that one does not have good longevity. My husband and I both enjoy wearing Sweet Ash.

loveeeeeeeeeee this scent so much. i can really smell the woody juniper and base sweetness radiate off me for hours. i loveeeeeeeee it. it has became my new fav everyday scent. it smells like a mature rich women in the colorado mountains gave you a hug.

I hate BR540. This smells like what baccarat was supposed to be. What it kept trying to be. The final version. With that being said this is the first br540 profile I have ever loved. It’s less burnt sugar. More woodsy. Kinda masculine. Chefs kiss.!

Really surprised by this one. I love the mix of notes. I smell fresh evergreen trees and sweet smoke like slightly burnt baked goods. I love it best after several hours actually. It leaves the most addictive dry down with faint sweetness.

If this perfume is an industry plant, at least it smells gorgeous. A big compliment getter for me!! It kind of reminds me of a cool foggy morning if the fog came w a natural spice to it. I don't see how anyone could dislike this.

Definitely top 5 in my Woody selection. This has that skinscent profile .. slightly sweet, woody, green from the fir balsam. Long lasting and projects. Beats out my thomas kosmala apres 4 and other Bacarrat dupes!

This used to smell like a better woodier version of Baccarat Rouge, now it smells like pinecones. I'm not sure why they changed the formula. I went to purchase and it smells terrible now.

Ater it sits for about an hour on my skin it turns into a bad knock off of BR540. I bought it for the woodsy smell I fell in love with at the store.

Snif really is an interesting perfume brand. Any time I give myself a chance to smell my way through their catalog at Ulta, though— despite being interesting— that’s just not enough. I couldn’t picture myself reaching for any of them. I don’t know if it’s that they’re not blended so well or maybe their DNA (debatably identifiable?) isn’t totally for me, but they don’t really prompt me to reach for my wallet despite being in a reasonable price range. Then one day I met Sweet Ash: surprisingly masculine, citrusy green, and striking some cord deep in my lungs that makes me feel a little drunk on sophistication. It’s sort of like someone was sent out into the woods with the task of creating an ambroxan scent with only raw materials. But then they took that and made it into a kind of synthetic smelling perfume. It confused me slightly but I could finally picture myself reaching for a Snif bottle. I pick this up when I want to feel powerful and a lot more grown than I really am. It shines best in cold weather. Sweet Ash is accompanied in my head by the clacking of pointed toe nude heels as a beautiful woman with a silver-streaked blowout walks past at a commanding speed, head high. Despite its very natural elements, it does not belong in nature really. Snif just refuses to be pinned down like that I guess.

This fragrance is odd, and odd can be good. In fact, odd is typically a positive adjective in my book, because at least it implies that something isn't a mere spinoff of something else. I like this. It's woody, but somehow very feminine to me in a way that I 100% would *never* have predicted it would be if I had looked at the notes before testing (I didn't, in fact...I didn't know about this brand at all before going into Ulta today). So yes, it's woody, and smells coniferous, but it's girly. It has a late 90s-early 2000s makeup-y undertone to it that I absolutely cannot adequately describe. It's a little powdery and airy, kind of artifical...but just...girly. This perfume takes some real attention to understand I believe, and it's easily drowned out by other ambient smells. She's certainly not the loudest talker in the room, and at first I thought I was noseblind to it when standing around all of the other perfumes. It's soft, and the opening is a little bizarre/chemical smelling. After it settles though, it's really pretty. It smells like you're having a makeup session with your friends in the woods, while the sunshine hits fallen fir needles and the cosmetics are mixing with the outdoorsy air. It's interesting, and I'm glad I tried it! 💄 🌲

A less sweet, more accessible BR540. This is common dna at this point, but it's popular for a reason. This scent is fir/juniper heavy, with a very natural and mild sweetness from a bit of vanilla and tonka in the base. This is not like Cloud to me, much less airy, way more woody and full bodied. Extremely likable, and you really can't find this dna with such a high-quality smell at such a reasonable price. For the regular person (non-fragrance conissuer), a 30ml bottle is plenty and will last a while. It's important to have smaller bottles at more accessible price points, and this is a great alternative to BR540, maintaining quality smell and body while still having a slightly different take. Good longevity, surprisingly good projection with a scent bubble and trail. I'd recommend this to anyone. You don't wear this to smell super unique; you wear this to just smell damn good.

holy shit this is so sexy. despite how sweet this scent is, this is one of those rare unisex perfumes that i would say truly feels like it could pull feminine or masculine depending on who is wearing it. smells like the most gorgeous authentic smoky vanilla, a little musky and woodsy at the same time. the vanilla is DEFINITELY sweet but doesn’t smell “fake” sweet at all, and combined with the woodsy notes it almost reminds me of tree sap. a warm, musky scent that smells like the skin of someone you’re really, really into. i had my roommate smell this and she immediately said “this smells like a really sexy boy” and then my other friend described it as “so feminine” so definitely very versatile lol

I am a Cloud and BR540 hater. They both smell like varying versions of the dentist to me so I was very concerned about ordering Sweet Ash blindly. The opening is very, very similar to these two; but this initial phase dies and it quickly settles into an extremely warm, sweet, woody, non-offensive unisex fragrance, with heavy emphasis on the vanilla, tonka, and juniper. If anything it's closer to Commodity Gold than the other frags mentioned above. It's aptly named and really wearable. It also projects nicely and I caught whiffs of it 10+ hours later. It's not exactly a ground breaking scent, but it's a nice addition that I will get a lot of use out of and was good for the sale price.

For fun I decided to wear this on one hand and BR540 extrait on the other. To my nose theres 15% similarity, and that’s honestly a good thing. Every airy resinous release is simply not allowed to just stand on its own and MUST be compared to the MFK giant. 🤦🏻♂️ Sweet Ash is surprisingly much better and I think when put side to side, people would blindly choose this. Theres a masculine almost shaving cream like quality that I cant get enough of. Yeah, it doesnt last forever, but I dont mind reapplying the cute little bottles. This and Coco Shimmy have been shining rays of light cutting through my rich and dense ultra gourmand collection. 🗡️🌞

I was excited for sweet ash expecting something like a London fog on a cold day, but instead I got a masculine-leaning version of AG Cloud. yes, I'm disappointed about not getting my beloved London fog, but I don't dislike what Sweet Ash actually is. the moss gives it that "airy" (quotes because it isn't really that light/airy) vibe that BR540 has, but I mostly get the fir/juniper, something cold and dark and green. doesn't project further than arm's length and lasts about as long, so you'll need to reapply to keep that scent bubble going throughout the day. imo not worth full retail price, but I do think it is worth a try.

This is a surprisingly versatile fragrance. It’s got a shaving cream type note with the woodiness and the bergamot which shines through, but the base is so sweet that it reads very unisex to me. The sweetness isn’t cloying, the patchouli isn’t strong, the whole thing is blended well. This might actually be my favorite BR540 adjacent scent. There’s no medical bandaid type note I get with both the original and Cloud, and this comes across more woody and piney than the original. I could imagine an outdoorsy girl wearing this on her night out, or a man wearing this for a summer daytime.

• This smells great! • I knew nothing about the brand when I ordered their trio sampler, so I went into this perfume blindly. • On first spray, it reminded me of something(s). Certainly BR540 but I don't like BR540 - this doesn't have the metallic scratchiness that makes that unwearable. Byredo Gypsy Water - which I love - yes, but more woody, less sweet/vanillic? Definitely in the same light aromatic genre. • Overall, a modern, unisex, green-wood freshy. Smooth, easy to wear and generally should feel familiar to anyone into perfume these days. Great quality at this price point.

This is gorgeous, but there’s nothing unique about it. I’d heard that too, but I love the BR540 DNA so much that I HAD to try it for myself. Boo, it smells so much like my BR540 dupe that it didn’t make sense to keep. This one leans a smidge more green, which is nice, but hardly discernible. I would love this on a guy and I think it would work year round. If I had nothing like this yet, or if I were on the hunt for a BR alternative, I would get this. I get the references to NEST Indigo. Layer Indigo with BR540, and you’ll probably get this.

Liking this more than I thought I would, but I still sort of agree with both negative and positive comments from others. It does smell like BR540, maybe more intense, but with that strong fir blast. I am a bit fir fan, so I don't mind it. In fact I like it more than BR540 which I was not a fan of. But there is something indulgently unserious about it. Someone said it smells synthetic, but to me it's more like naturals unnaturally amplified. I am glad I got a travel and I think it might be fun to pull out at times.

I own Sweet Ash, Heal the Way, Crumb Couture and Soda Snob**. They all have an underlying smell that seems exactly the same to my nose. Since buying these over the course of a few months, I learned to buy samples first then commit to a larger size. Of the bunch I like Sweet Ash the best as it is the least gourmand. I wish it had more woodiness. 7/10 The only thing I would consider buying from Snif now is Old Money laundry detergent and scent booster. **I would gladly sell any and all. They are all 10 ml mini size.

On first spray my heart sank - it had that same cheap men's cologne scent as Ariana Grande's REM. Quickly however it transitioned to the pine and vanilla scent I'd been hoping for. The scent is like an expensive Christmas candle from a quirky boutique. Pretty terrible longevity and silage, but any more potent and it might lean into pine-sol/bathroom cleaner territory. I think it would layer nicely with other vanilla based perfumes to give it that extra kick. Going to love this one throughout autumn and winter.

Piney-woody, cozy and unisex. This isn’t as sharp and medicinal as baccarat, and leans into the pine more. It lasts the whole day, but will fade by the next. Still great longevity. I love it as a woman, especially in the winter. I have the candle version of this which is a bit sweeter, which the cologne lacks. But still such a nice, truly unisex scent. You won’t smell like everyone else who is wearing baccarat or a baccarat dupe, it’s different enough to be its own scent. 7.5/10

I was surprised to find this has patchouli in it. I typically smell patchouli and gag, but this is beautifully done. Very unisex, aromatic, a tad sweet, green, earthy, a flash of citrus... it all works in perfect harmony in this. The only reason this is a like and not a love: the performance. It sits very close to my skin. Longevity isn't much better. I'd love to try the Super version, but I worry it won't have the same magic this scent does.

When I first tried this a while ago, it didn't stick out to be very much but oh my god has it grown on me. She is beautiful, woodsy, and warm. The PERFECT amount of aromatic and warm. This is very close to a perfume I've thought of in my dreams! It's just missing some fruits but obviously I think I could make my own hybrid using this and Commodity Juice, possibly. I might go back to the store just to buy her.

woodsy, fresh, and well blended.. im getting lots of cedar, a bit of patchouli, moss and the faintest hint of smoke. i was also pretty surprised by this, as normally any kind of patchouli has *that* kind of smell to it- like the local hippie store run by a 40 year old woman who smokes on the job. but this doesn't smell like that at all. it's on the sweeter side, not bitter or overwhelming.

Whoa I just tested this in Ulta and it smells shockingly like BR540 but a bit greener (which I actually like). Really enjoy that moss note. I guess my small part of world isn’t over run by dupes ...NOW I understand. Very nice though. (I was shocked that I hated Tart Deco which I have been longing to try 🤷🏼♀️) Oh I lied I want to smell Crum Couture. Stand by disliking TD...

Out of all the snif fragrances I smelled today, this was my second favorite. Slightly masculine, but a woman could definitely pull it off. Fir balsam, burning candles with your face deep in your boyfriends neck... you can still smell the cologne on his sweater. Great winter type of fragrance, especially holidays. Cozy. Comfortable. I like this one a lot.

starts off smelling very similar to baccarat but dries down powdery and much more masculine. smells like my grandfather’s old cologne i believe due to the juniper and fir notes. i think its perfectly unisex and ultimately different than BR540. i ended up spraying the BR540 extrait on top of this to get the sweetness back.

It’s a Christmas-y fragrance to me. Woody + sweet fluffy vanilla. I like it but I’m not going to repurchase because it just isn’t going to vibe in the warmer weather and it didn’t last long whatsoever despite multiple sprays. Reminds me of a woodier In the Stars by B&BW and it does have a similar feel to Cloud.

I know this scent dna is popular, but this one specifically is soo soothing to me! I almost thought there was a French lavender notes with how relaxing this made me feel. I might keep this, even though I didn’t initially want another BR540 dupe; this one is unique.. not complex, but it feels a little special.

This smells like a pleasant combo of a BR 540 dupe + Fine'ry's Before the Rainbow. It's sweet like the former and mossy like the latter. Not getting much vanilla though, if any at all. It lasts for awhile on clothing but disappears quickly on skin. Nice overall but not FB worthy IMO.

It's a very interesting woodsy/smoky yet sweet scent. It honestly smells a bit like lavender to me. It's fine, but not my favourite and the longevity is terrible. It's pretty much gone within 30 minutes. Also a total Baccarat dupe, but it reminds me of my NYC trip!

I hated BR 540 and this is everything I wished it would be. The woody notes and bergamot are beautifully blended and delicious! It isn't very strong on me, just a skin scent that I have to strain to smell, but maybe I did smth wrong.

So I had this from september of '23 to July of '24, it wasn't overwhelming in the few times I wore it in the heat. I originally bought this hoping to replace Eilish 2. It is a very interesting take on gourmand and woods

This is the snif scent I've enjoyed the most! It's balanced and surprisingly green! It's longevity was a little better than the other ones I've tried. It's nice to not smell so sickly sweet. Would revisit.
