Edit, New Year's Eve 2023: Sadly, as happens so often with beauty products I love, the formulation for this has been changed. I bought a new bottle this fall, and the sophisticated allure has been obliterated by a blast of pepper. The note list and description is unchanged but no matter how long you wait, a strong pepper scent persists and prevails. The formerly feminine Sofia now gives brazen masculinity, so for me it's no longer wearable. A true tragedy of fragrance, as evidenced by my original review below from 2016: Beloved Fragranticans, please allow me to share my pain. I generally don't go for celeb scents, and as beautiful as Sofia Vergara is, I've seen her acting like a bimbo on a few too many late-night infomercials to ever take her seriously. I'm also mad at her for stealing my shoulda-been husband, Joe Manganiello, who was about to realize at any moment that he couldn't live without me. So needless to say, I didn't have very high hopes or expectations when I let Fragrantica reviews talk me into blind buying this perfume. The first spritz and initial sniff seemed to confirm my suspicions: another generically sweet synthetic jumble of common, overplayed fruit-powder notes. I silently kicked myself, mentally kissed that $22 goodbye, and placed little miss Sofia with so many others on the Triple-B shelf (BBB, Blind Buy Blunder) destined for next spring's yard sale. The only consolation I had was knowing I'd been right about the saucy tart all along. Little did I know that she was determined to take even that from me. Semi-dejected but hardly surprised I went on about my day, secretly wishing her a case of atomic acne just in time for her next media appearance . About an hour later, maybe a little more, I stood up from bending over the dishwasher and caught a whiff of an incredible scent. I started looking for the source and was genuinely dumbfounded to discover it was Ms. Sofia giving her encore performance. Despite the gawdy opening, Sofia is absolutely gorgeous. (Insufferable bitch.) The $22 intro turned into a high-dollar finish. Time really is money. In that one hour she went from an infomercial bobblehead (for just 2 easy payments of $10.99 each) to a red-carpet stunner. But wait-- there's more! The finish of this was so good that I immediately went online and blind ordered Sofia's dark-haired sister, Sofia Love (who no doubt has her skeevy eyes on at least one of my runner-up husbands). Just like the original, she starts out cheap but cleans up beautifully in no time. (Naturally...the tramp.) It's like the movie Pretty Woman in a bottle. Anyway, despite my misgivings and personal angst, I can't help but recommend Sofia and Sofia Love if you're looking for feminine, alluring, and completely respectable fragrances at a ridiculously reasonable price. The drydown of this is actually classy enough for evening wear, and still affordable enough to wear to work...or even to bed (go figure). And so, much to my chagrin, Sofia sashayed her way off the Triple-B shelf and took a place among my regular rotation. And why not, she's taken everything else. Heifer.

Fresh, warm, creamy, clean, and not complex, Sofia opens with a very loud and sparkling, juicy blackberry-plum fruitiness. It was almost too sweetly fruity for me, at first, and VERY strong! But, within the first hour, the juicy fruits die down and the warm, clean sandalwood and sweet vanilla establish themselves (orchid is in there, too, but I'm not quite sure what orchid smells like...). Like many others have said here, Sofia is reminiscent of Calvin Klein's Euphoria (they share berries, orchid, and vanilla). Also, a few people also mentioned similarities to Rihanna's Reb'l Fleur -- with its plum, berries, and vanilla -- which I can see, but Sofia is definitely minus the earthy patchouli. On the other hand, I cannot see much resemblance to Thierry Mugler's Angel, which a few people mentioned -- that complex cotton candy-honey-patch bomb I LOVE! -- other than maybe the fact that both are very strong and long-lasting; Sofia is a lot softer and less jarring, ultimately -- way less over the top -- than my beloved Angel. Sofia lasts 10-12 hours on my skin and is a linear scent, not changing much after the initial plum-berry blast subsides in the beginning. It's a yummy, beautiful fragrance and smells, simply, happy... :) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Over the last couple of weeks, I've found myself not reaching for Sofia, which is strange to me because it's so delicious it almost seems liquidy and "drinkable" (not literally, though!). Then I realized that, while Sofia is so pretty, it's as if it's missing a base or profound/deep note that would anchor and solidify it. It plays soaringly in all these"higher" registers but lacks depth. As someone who was raised on old school chypres (Mme. Rochas, Femme, etc.), maybe it's also missing a little bit of "stankiness" for me, too (though I also appreciate newer, non-stanky post-80's concoctions). But, when I woke up this morning, it suddenly occurred to me that I could remedy pretty Sofia's lack of base and depth by using it in tandem with Estee Lauder's Azuree. I love Azuree but only occasionally reach for it because it's SO strong, dry, and leathery that it can be overwhelming. However, both Sofia and Azuree are very strong and while Azuree could use some liquid fluidity, sweetness, and softening, Sofia could use some leathery weight and dryness. The two scents combine beautifully and address any issues I have with Sofia's sweetness and lightness and Azuree's rough, pungent angularity.

My apologies, Sofia. Last week when I first tried your lovely perfume I found it too strong and woodsy. I hit the "dislike" button on this very page and instead of putting you in a place of prestige amongst my weekly bottle choices I shoved you into the dark depths of my perfume drawer. For this, I express great remorse. Because this week I decided, as I do with ALL perfumes I initially dislike, to give you another chance. I spritzed and recalled your quite beautiful and dare I say - sublime mixture of plum & luscious FRESH blackberries. None of that synthetic nonsense. Then I prepared myself for the inevitable drydown that I had so loathed before. However, this time was different. This time I finally recognized your perfume for what it truly is - NOT the typical candy-like or fruity fragrance that dominates the shelves these days. Oh no, this is MUCH different and certainly worlds apart from anything else in my fragrance wardrobe. This is a drydown like NO other. Here we are in the dead of winter and your drydown bouquet sparkles and glimmers with fresh cold weather berries, it seduces with sexy orchid and calms with a woodsy violet. I can still smell this enchanting concoction the next day, on my collar and sleeves. The sandalwood is present but sits in the background, allowing instead the plum and blackberry to have their moments in the sun. I have switched my vote on this board to "love" and you now have a place of stature not amongst my favorite bottles, but you are the sole fragrance sitting on my bathroom countertop! A place of esteem and prominence! ;) Sofia, I have now decided that I am in LOVE with your perfume!! In fact, I am considering making your fragrance my "signature scent" for the autumn months since this perfume, to me, just SCREAMS harvest moon, pumpkin patches, apple picking, corn mazes and hay rides. This scent is mature - it is NOT for teens or for women who have no self- confidence. This is meant for the woman who knows who she is, who is strong and self-aware. Who loves the person she has grown to be. Perhaps, Sofia, this is who YOU are? I've never met you or seen on tv so who knows? ;) But I thank you, Sofia, for this gift. An affordable fragrance in a large and BEAUTIFUL bottle that looks more like a piece of glass art than a simple mass-produced decanter. I will *certainly* be buying more of this because I have truly and properly fallen in love with this work of art.

Update: After my really negative review I left the bottle couple of days on the shelf, then decided to give it another chance...and wore it several times. I don’t know what happened but the harsh green sour stuff just disappeared! It transformed to the lovely sophisticated, fruity, sweet, woody scent, everyone is talking about. I’m really glad that this change happened somehow and I can proudly and happily ware this frag 🥰 After lots and lots of YouTube perfume reviews, I made myself a looong wishlist. This was mentioned a lot even as a Coco Mademoiselle dupe, so I decided to blind buy it, regarding the price furthermore, I thought it will be one of the best scents in my collection. But!!! It’s a huge disappointment :( I totally expected something else...l must admit that there are nice things about it, like the price, the packaging and bottle, longevity is insanely good, I got about 12h...but the scent on me is just unbearable. I wouldn’t recommend to blind buy it, I definitely advise to try it before. At first spritz I only get something like harsh green sour apples, what’s not even mentioned in the notes.... After dry down I can only feel an unpleasant edgy green bitterly cassis, what resists for very long hours. Sweetness of vanilla and woody notes I can barley smell somewhere underneath that horrible currant buds note. I am sooo disappointed, I expected and hoped for a fresh but sweet and pleasant scent, which could fit in any situation, as well as a signature scent...

I ordered this fragrance along with Love awhile ago. I enjoy both fragrances! I was pleasantly surprised that Sofia smells so sophisticated for a celebrity scent. Yes it seems sweet to me, I do smell plums but more over I smell a jammy sweetness that is quite tenacious through out the wearing of Sofia and stays quite long on clothing. Sandalwood is a dominant note and you must like it to be comfortable with this fragrance. I love sandalwood so that works for me! I smell a bit of vanilla that tempers the sandalwood and the wood is nice as well. Really it is a very pleasant, sweet fragrance for any occasion and I believe that it is a safe blind buy. 10/15/2020 Sprayed this on then flew out the door for an appointment. We are all wearing masks in my state so I really did not pay attention to how much I sprayed probably thinking no one can smell it through their mask anyway - I mean I can't! At the end of my appointment I had two people ask me what was the beautiful fragrance I was wearing! I asked them if it was too strong and they said no, they just LOVED the smell! One person said that it was refreshing to have a fragrance she could smell with her mask on. So I was pleased and surprised as I really could not smell Sofia with my mask on but when I got home and took off my mask I really enjoyed this beautiful fragrance for the remainder of my day.

I adore this fragrance. For a cheapie, it outperforms its price tag tenfold. I think I got a 1oz for $10 and then 3.4oz for $25. Now, I'm someone who loves Coco Mademoiselle, and to me this is like a sister fragrance to Coco Mademoiselle, which I also own. It's more syrupy, darker, and smells of dark fruits and woodiness. I definitely do see why this does get compared to Coco Mademoiselle, but it's definitely not a dupe. However, if you like one, you're bound to like the other I think. Like others have said, it just reminds me of a love child between Miss Dior and Coco Mademoiselle. Someone else mentioned that this reminded them of banana bread, and now I can't un-smell it. Yeah... somewhat. I can see it. Very cozy and fruity gourmand bakery vibes with a Coco Mademoiselle / Miss Dior inspiration. This, and the original Fancy from Jessica Simpson, are some of the best cheapies / celebrity fragrances ever. For the price tag, I wouldn't even hesitate to get this. It's just so good. Longevity and projection on me are also very good. To all the people who are put off by the murky brown color, don't be, because it's quite normal. Both of my bottles came already looking brown. Vanilla darkens over time and does that, so it's quite normal.

I am thoroughly impressed by this fragrance. It's hands down one of the best performing celebrity scents created! I picked this up because I love wearing my Coco Mademoiselle, and I often see this being compared to it. Let me start off by saying, I absolutely see why these two are compared to each other. Sofia smells very similar to CM, but a bit sweeter in my opinion and a bit more powdery in the dry down. To me, I think this is a great mix of Coco Mademoiselle and La Vie Est Belle by Lancome. It is absolutely stunning! I'm so glad I purchased this fragrance. It has quickly become my go to everyday / work scent. It's very affordable, so I don't mind spraying it on every day, the scent is beautiful, and the performance is absolutely outstanding! This fragrance lasts me my entire 9 hour work day, no need to re-apply. The projection is great, projects very similarly to CM, but maybe just a tad bit softer. Overall, I am very pleased with this fragrance. I think this is one I will be keeping in my arsenal for a long time to come. If you're a Coco Mad. fan, I highly recommend checking out Sofia by Sofia Vergara. It does not smell like a typical "celebrity" perfume at all, it smells rich and luxurious. You can't go wrong with this.

This is a really lovely perfume. I feel like it fits the persona of Sofia Vergara perfectly - exotic and sophisticated, but playful and sexy. That's exactly how I'd describe the perfume. The initial spray is fruity and sweet, but still something exotic about it, like a spice blend, although it's not spicy. I really don't know how to explain it. Then the dry down is warmer and you get that creaminess from the sandalwood and the warmth of the woody notes and vanilla, but there's still that little zing that adds some zest. Is it one of the flowers blending with it? This doesn't really smell very floral to me, or if it does, it's such a well-done blend that it doesn't feel overwhelmingly floral, which I like. It's just unique but not too far "out there". This is light, but also feels dark and sophisticated. I feel like this could work with any season, with any time of day. This is so well-done, and I honestly never expected something like this from a celebrity perfume. A new favorite. ETA: I realize my review may seem confusing or contradictory, as I say "It's light but dark" or "It's playful but sophisticated"... you just have to smell it to know. It's such a good balance of each side.

No patchouli in the notes? I'm shocked. Sofia is a sparkly fruitchouli in the vein of Coco Mademoiselle, like many reviewers already mentioned. I can only assume the listed "woody notes" contain patch. It opens up fresh and almost citrusy with tart blackberry and clean patchouli. This is not as sharp as its big sister CCM, and therefore much more loveable to me. In the drydown the plum starts to shine and vanilla comes in to soften the scent. Together with the sandalwood and orchid it creates a dry, powdery texture, so this isn't syrupy sweet. A hint of cassis leave adds a green edge and also keeps it from being cloying. I absolutely don't get the comparisons to LVEB. In my opinion the opening is nice, but the drydown is where it's really at. If I had tested this blindly, I'm pretty sure I would have categorized it as a designer perfume. The warm fruitiness of the plum, the powdery vanilla and the sparkling patch are perfectly balanced. And it's versatile, too, I could see this work for almost every occasion except maybe on the beach. If you find CCM too scratchy and would prefer a warmer, softer, fruit-infused version for a fraction of the price, try Sofia.

I bought this about five years ago. I had moved to a different state and had to get rid of all my perfumes. I found this at Burlington for about $20 and I figured it would tide me over until I could start my collection again. I fell in love with it! This did not smell remotely like a $20 fragrance! I started seeing YouTubers speaking about it and how much they enjoyed it and I agree! I did manage to find one more bottle and then it disappeared. 😥 It’s sad it was discontinued right when it was becoming more popular. This could have become a classic. The dark fruits are rich and lush, the florals give it a feminine sexy touch and the warm woody base gives it a sophistication. It’s fabulous! I’d say it’s a modern floriental. I could see this being a signature scent for many women if it were easy to find. I’m happy to have a couple in my collection as well as a body spray. The longevity is moderate. I have coco mademoiselle so I’ll have to try them side by side! If you happen to see this out there, it’s worth a try! It’s a true affordable gem in my opinion!

This is a love child between Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel and La Vie est Belle by Lancome. I adore Coco Mademoiselle on its own, but am very "meh" towards La Vie est Belle for its very generic and lackluster nature. This, on the other hand... I absolutely love Sofia by Sofia Vergara. It takes the best things from La Vie est Belle, ditches everything that made it a generic and forgettable fragrance, and adds some complexity a la Coco Mademoiselle. Mind you, this doesn't have that effervescent Chanel-esque quality that Chanels do, but nevertheless, the similarities are there. It's not a dupe of either Coco Mademoiselle or La Vie est Belle, but it is definitely a love child of both. Coco Mademoiselle drizzled in a syrup of dark berries? Absolutely divine. This is gourmand but not nearly as sweet and cloying as La Vie est Belle. It's also not nearly as fresh and crisp as the original Coco Mademoiselle, but like I said, Sofia takes the two fragrances and meets directly in the middle.

Before this beautiful perfume, it didn't hit home for me how similar Coco Mademoiselle, LVEB and Flowerbomb actually were. They are practically sisters...They all carry the same DNA...the ''Polge'' family DNA (lol). However 'Sofia by Sofia Vergara' is a treasure among celebrity perfumes. It carries an air of sophistication and modernity just like Coco/LVEB/FB. This is a morpher! On my skin it opens up a blackberry Coco, and some days I get that famous mimosa note even though it's not listed (maybe olfactory memory?)...after a while it dries down to that addicting soapy sweetness (praline, woody, candy patchouli) we all know and love. Some days more LVEB, others Coco... Long story short: This is a gorgeous ultra-feminine perfume that is just perfect for any occasion and blooms in the warm weather! It's FAR fresher than its counterparts. Verdict: Get it. Unless you hate the Coco Mademoiselle/LVEB DNA.

The short: I love this for winter. Great bargain buy. Easy wear. The long: Sofia is fruity, flowery and grounded. There are green notes in it that cut the sugar and woody notes to stabilize it. Really a nice fragrance. I can’t compare it to other frags, it is unique in my cabinet. I love being able to smell my own perfume and this project for 6hrs, trails when I walk. Two sprays will do it for several hours. I love this for winter. In warm weather, this goes a little sour on my skin; stays true on clothing. Versatile for casual or dressy. The bottle is hefty and nicely cut. The cap is nice acrylic cut like crystal. Looks pretty on my vanity tray when in use. It is pleasant and priced affordably. I hope it never gets reformulated. I have a back up bottle just in case.

This perfume is amazing to put it simply... it is so refreshing yet inviting. I can't help but think about how much I love the scent whenever I get a whiff of it on myself. The only heart breaking part for me is the fact that the lasting power only works on clothing (not my skin at all), and you have to be SO close to me to smell it .. no one has complimented me on it and I honestly think its because they can't smell it at all. I don't know if it is my skin chemistry, but I love this scent so much that I am ordering the set with the cream so I can make it stronger. I feel that this may just be my bottle because no one else on here is mentioning this. SO worth the blind buy... Sofia is my favourite scent of all time and I am willing to make it work for me

I blind bought this for my daughter one Christmas because she LOVES Sofia Vergara. I immediately wished I’d kept if for myself. 😁 A sweet where-have-you-been-all-my-life fruit-chouli ! I have since then purchased my own bottle and really enjoy wearing it. It reminds me of that Christmas with my daughter, which is an added bonus. I’m not sure why Turquoise11 finds it so repulsive (and spells Sofia wrong repeatedly 😉🙃). Maybe they didn’t waste the first 4-6 sprays from a discounted bottle. That’s happened to me. Once, I bought a discontinued fragrance and on first spray, it was synthetic and ATROCIOUS! I wasted the next couple of sprays and revisited the fragrance a week later....and there it was. A beautiful, sweet, light, brown sugar and vanilla scent.

Oh this is heavenly and delicious yet luxurious and very feminine ✨ It’s a pretty and elegant concoction with some of the best elements of some of the main stream crowd-pleasers which makes this so appealing but also unique in its own beautiful way. I spent so much money on Tom Ford fall fragrances when I just happened to come across this affordable gem. Its so PRETTY! It’s not so much of a skin scent but LASTS 12+ HOURS on clothes. If you’re hesitant to spend a lot of money on mainstream fragrances because you don’t want to smell the same as every other woman out there then a friendly recommendation would be to try this first :) it’s very affordable but that does not mean the QUALITY is lacking because this is a GORGEOUS everyday VERSATILE fragrance.

Just ordered this perfume from Fragrancenet completely blind- and I am so happy I did. I love this perfume, and I think it will be my new signature scent. The first spritz, I thought it smelt like bath and body works - which is not my preference at all because I want to smell like perfume, not a body spray - but that was just the fruity notes. When it settles on my skin, I cannot stop smelling it! It is so warm and inviting, and not too sweet - but not too mature! I have seen some reviews saying it doesn't last, so I will always bring the refillable travel atomizer to re-apply. I showed it to my mom and she was shocked it was a celebrity scent! I ordered 4 other popular scents (blindly) and this was my fave overall - I highly recommend it!

This is a fantastic celebrity fragrance and most definitely worth the hype! It really does smell like Coco Mademoiselle mixed with La Vie Est Belle, maybe with a hint Armani Si in there as well. It's like a mixture of all the best-selling modern classics, so it's very likeable and a safe blind buy if you're into those types of scents. Not gonna lie tho, if Lancome or Armani etc came out with a scent like this now in 2021, I would be unimpressed - it's not a particularly unique scent and nothing I haven't smelled before - but at this price point this is truly an amazing fragrance. It's also very long-lasting and a unique celebrity fragrance in the sense that there's not a hint of that juvenile teenager feel that celeb scents usually have.

Sofia by Sofia Vergara is becoming increasingly hard to find these days. If you're lucky enough to come across a 3.4 oz bottle, it's going for over $100 on eBay. With only half a bottle left of my beloved Sofia, I started to feel a bit anxious at the thought of not being able to enjoy that wonderful fragrance anymore. So, I decided to try the dupe from Dorall Collection called Belicia. While it’s not an exact match, it comes impressively close. I still get that same dopamine rush when I smell it. It’s a mystery why Sofia was discontinued—it's such a stunning fragrance. If it wasn't so loved, why would there be a dupe of a celebrity scent in the first place? For now, I'm just happy to have found Belicia as a great alternative.

I have read other reviews comparing Sofia to Coco Mademoiselle and La Vie Est Belle. I can’t really speak to either of those fragrances, but I can see the similarity between Sofia and So Very Sofia by Avon. I own both of them, and they’re both quite lovely. Sofia is warm, comforting, and elegant. It’s powdery and soft spicy, with almost a hint of bitterness that I can’t quite put my finger on, but surprisingly enjoy. It makes me feel womanly and sophisticated, so it’s perfect for special events. But it’s also versatile enough to wear during the day as a signature scent or work perfume. I wear it often to work in the fall and winter. Such a beautiful fragrance.
